He might even win nasarawa.
What we are looking at right now is how to steal some votes in northwest and northeast
the northeast have an almost 50 50 percentage of Christians to Muslim and members of both religions have suffered dearly in the hands of Book haram and herdsmen. I hope they would all vote for capacity instead of tribe and religion.

Who else noticed how APC urchins have flooded this thread while trying to overturn logic on it's head? Affliction would not raise the second time. Peter Obi have assured Benue IDPs that his government would retrieve their homelands from the Fulani militia and safely return them home to their ancestral lands.

Fulani not Nigerian Muslims, I have met a lot of peaceful and open minded Yoruba Muslims.

MasterTeeUSA:
Many months ago, years ago, I had wondered during GEJ why people kept dying without any viable solutions. In my own little analysis, I came up with a suggestion I had wanted to pen in an article, remove everyone from the outskirts of towns and villages, relocate them until you can guarantee their safety...they go after the criminals. By so doing, you prevent lots of collateral damage and keep people safe. As a matter of fact, I felt the govt should condemn some areas, level the villages, and create militarized zones that if anyone crosses, shoot to kill. To prevent an inter-village crisis, I felt this idea would work as well.

Years later, govt created the IDPs to allow for relocations. After many years, those in Borno State are finally being relocated back to areas built by the Govt with safety and protection among the conclaves.

The issue I have with people like Peter Obi is...they don't think about issues deeply and just run about saying what should be done or not be done. If he becomes the President and relocates all these people, it would cost more to keep them safe and someone like him will be reluctant to create IDPs. It might seem like a great idea or make for Monday Morning Talk Show for folks that don't do research or think deeply, but when you look at the idea behind IDPs, it has kept lots of people safe. I do think the Govt should have very good schools, hospitals, and proper welfare within the IDPs, but closing them down without say ...recruiting soldiers, police, and security infrastructures and putting in place so many things is a recipe for disaster. Leaders do not think about what is popular, they do what is RIGHT. I pray we choose and vote wisely. Obama was a good example...he was less effective in solving lots of issues...even ObamaCare had to be saved from itself.
Peter Obi have already said it that local government and state policing is the answer (community policing). These people wouldn't be attacked if their had their own police/armed militia. Community policing is the proper approach in Western societies that have enabled the survival of their agricultural sector. What you're suggesting would collapse our agriculture and lead to widespread hunger and famine. Nigeria have one of the lowest police to population ratio in the world and most of them are tied to VIPs as escorts or similar duties. The police force been administered from far away Abuja is unable to quickly respond to local situations and is often accused to pandering to tribal interests. If the Benue government can establish it's own state and local government police force with stations in all communities of each local government, Fulani herdsmen wouldn't even dare to attack them talk more of succeeding.

FG plans import levy to finance AfDB, W’Bank obligations
25th December 2022

The Federal Government has initiated plans to introduce O.5 per cent levy on imported goods to raise funds to meet its obligations to the African Development Bank, the World Bank and other multilateral organisations.

This is contained in a document titled ‘Invitation to a One Day Public Hearing and Submission of Memoranda on the 2022 Finance Bill,’ released by the House of Representatives Committee on Finance.

The new levy was introduced into the 2022 Finance Bill under Sector 13 for Customs, Excise, Tariff, etc. (Consolidation) Act.

The document read in part, “In addition to extant customs duties and other approved charges, a levy of 0.5 per cent is hereby imposed on all eligible goods imported into Nigeria from outside Africa to finance capital contributions, subscriptions and other financial obligations to the African Union, African Development Bank, African Export-Import Bank, ECOWAS Bank for Investment and Development, Islamic Development Bank, United Nations and other multilateral institutions as may be designated by regulation issued by the minister responsible for finance.”

The government explained in the document that the amendment was essential to ensure certainty and sustainability of funding of the African Union and other key multilateral development institutions, “to bring into effect the Decision of the Outcome of the Retreat of the Assembly of the African Union (Assembly/AU/Dec.605; XXVII), and Federal Executive Council decision”.

This move is part of the government’s efforts to checkmate the country’s rising debt profile.

An Abuja-based economist, Chris Uwadoka, who spoke with our correspondent over the phone on the new levy, said it is a fiscal measure within the government’s capacity.

He said that since the government does not want to fail with its debt obligations, it has to devise measures to ensure it meets these obligations.

While presenting the 2023 appropriation bill to a joint session of the National Assembly recently, the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd), noted that despite the revenue challenges in the country, the country still consistently met its debt service obligation.

“Despite our revenue challenges, we have consistently met our debt service commitments. Staff salaries and statutory transfers have also been paid as and when due,” Buhari added.

If the deputy governor has a problem with how the military men do their work then he should go through the right channels and not grandstanding in public

With the level of insecurity in Anambra, it is not surprising to see the military mounting roadblocks along major roads to try get these criminal elements lurking around

If I were president buhari, I would issue a order for all military and police men to evacuate the south east and let them secure themselves. There's no need risking your precious lives for people that do not appreciate your efforts but buhari being a reasonable man would never do so

You'll never see them condemn the nefarious activities of ipob, esn and other criminal elements but they're always quick to castigate police and other uniform men
he should take them to Kaduna, Zamfara,Gombe etc where they're needed and would be appreciated. What's the need to mount road blocks when they consistently fail to respond during attacks from Fulani herdsmen?

An average Nigerian politician like Akeredolu is heartlessly selfish and shameless. Thank God that it's his brothers that are telling him the bitter truth. All southern regions have his type.
PoliticsAfenifere Faults Akeredolu’s Comments On Yoruba Nation Agitation by greenermodels(op): 9:27pm On Dec 24, 2022
The pan-Yoruba socio-political organisation, Afenifere, on Saturday berated the Ondo State Governor, Mr Rotimi Akeredolu, over the latter’s comment about the agitation of the Yoruba Nation.

Akeredolu, who is the Chairman of the Southern Governors’ Forum has declared that those who are agitating for the Yoruba Nation were enemies of the country.

Akeredolu made the declaration at the launching of the emblem appeal to flag off the 2023 Armed Forces Remembrance Day Celebrations held in Akure, the state capital, on Friday.

In a statement issued by the Secretary General of the Afenifere, Mr Sola Ebiseni, faulted Akeredolu’s position on the regional agitation, as it said the governor was playing to the galaxy. The statement was titled, ‘Akeredolu: Between equity and opportunism.’

The statement read, “The statement credited to Governor Akeredolu of Ondo State at the launching of an emblem appeal to flag off the 2023 Armed Forces Remembrance Day, unfortunately, confirmed the scarcity of statesmanship in our clime particularly faced with the lust for political power.

“We have no problem with the governor playing to the gallery, as a glorified Chief Security Officer, urging that security forces clamp down on any person or group whose activities he interpreted as capable of disintegrating the Nigerian State because we are no less patriotic and committed to its continuing corporate existence.

“We are also in the same boat with him that ‘this country is very important to some of us’ and the recognition that agitation and protests are rights protected in a democratic society.

“Our worry, however, is that Akeredolu, even as the Chairman of the Southern Governors Forum, would not, in deference to that high pedestal, wean himself from petty politicking which sacrifices equity needed for national peace and cohesion in preference of crass opportunism. In short, his vituperation on that occasion was most disastrously bereft of statesmanship and national conciliation.”

It added, “Truth be told, there is no region of Nigeria where the elite including the ruling class in government has been able to determine the methods adopted by agitators or succeeded in checkmating the effects thereof.

“So, let Akeredolu not boast of any capacity to dictate the method adopted by the Yoruba agitators or seek to set the rest of Nigeria against his Ndigbo colleagues or the entire South East in his unhidden separatist agenda of securing undue advantage for his party and region in the quest for the Nigerian President of Southern extraction.

“We state for the umpteenth time, that the true and real recipe for peace and continued corporate existence of Nigeria, is an arrangement that will guarantee regional equity and not an ‘emi lo kan’ philosophy in the mode of King Louis’s l’état c’est moi.

“Incidentally, those who fought the civil war truly shed their youthful blood and have seen all about Nigeria, are now in the vanguard of the national movement not only for Southern but in the quest for the requisite equity are in the queue for the Nigerian President of South East extraction.

“There lies the solution to separatist agitations and not self-serving sanctimonious pontifications.”

All southern leaders are slaves to the Fulani, but why would this idiot mention IPOB in his self hate speech? That was the same mannr the Oni went to Anambra state during operation Python dance to disgrace himself getting involved in anti-ipob activities that doesn't concern him. The emergence of Sunday Igbogho and the stiff opposition and sabotage he suffered in the hands of Yoruba leaders like Tinubu, Oni and the southwest governors who even lied to absolve the Fulani from killings should be a lesson to the ordinary Yoruba masses. Disintegration and emergence of new youthful leaders is the only way to emancipate themselves from the exploitation been perpetuated against them by their own elites/Fulani slaves. Nigeria is a gift from the British to the Fulani to administer on their behalf, the country is neither free nor independent.

Besides..the organizers that brought the rapper to nigeria were the ones who were responsible for security men provided for him..

Apart from politics. USA has the highest crime rate in the world..in that country , women are raped every day and success men are killed regularly. .
first private armed security companies should be hired to provide security rather than policemen paid by taxpayers secondly American crime rate is nothing compared to what is been experienced in Nigeria today. Stop defending the indefensible.
