RomanceBurna Boy’s Police Escorts Shoot Married Man After Singer Made Pass At Wife by greenermodels(op): 7:19am On Jun 12, 2022
*Burna Boy’s police escorts shoot married man after singer made pass at wife*

The Lagos State Police Commissioner’s Special Squad has detained five policemen attached to singer, Damini Ogulu, aka Burna Boy, for attempted murder after they shot two fun seekers— Irebami Lawrence and another identified simply as Tolu— at Club Cubana on Victoria Island, Lagos, on Wednesday.

According to a preliminary report by the Bar Beach Police Division, trouble started when the singer and five police escorts visited the nightclub around 4am on June 8.

About four policemen waited outside while one of the policemen, identified as Inspector Ibrahim, who was in mufti, accompanied the Grammy-Award-winning artiste into the club.

According to multiple witness statements, the singer was in the VIP section with three women when he spotted another woman.

He was reported to have told Ibrahim to invite the woman to join him.

However, the lady’s husband was said to have lambasted the singer, insisting that it was disrespectful for any man to make advances at his wife.

After some minutes, Burna Boy reportedly made fresh advances at the woman.

This infuriated her husband further and his friends who had gathered at the club.

“As things were getting heated, Ibrahim brought out his service pistol and shot multiple times while Burna Boy was laughing,” said a senior policeman.

In the process, 27-year-old Lawrence was shot in the thigh while his friend, Tolu, was hit in the head by a bullet. This caused a commotion in the club.

It was learnt that Burna Boy and his crew then drove off to one of his properties at the Elegushi end of the Lekki-Epe Expressway before leaving for Lekki Phase 1.

“Aware of what he had done, Burna Boy took the next flight out without even informing the policemen. He only made a video call to them to inform them that he had travelled to Spain. All his police escorts have been arrested and are currently at the Command headquarters,” said a top source at the office of the Lagos State Commissioner of Police.

Sources close to the victims said the police were already making attempts to protect Burna Boy because of his status while the victims were treating their wounds at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja.

In a chat with Sunday Scoop, a brother to the victim, who identified himself only as Jide, said his brother had undergone surgery to remove the bullet lodged in his thigh.

Jide added that Irebami, who is based in the United States of America, arrived in Nigeria a week ago for a wedding.

He also berated the management of Club Cubana for not doing enough to forestall the situation, adding that the club management had not even reached out to the family since the incident occurred.

Attempts to get a response from Burna Boy’s manager, Mrs Bose Ogulu, who is also his mother, proved abortive as she neither responded to calls nor a text message on Saturday.

Similarly, Chioma Nwachukwu, a media consultant for Cubana, did not respond to calls on Saturday.

But the Spokesman for the Lagos State Police command, Benjamin Hundeyin, said the focus of the investigation was the policemen.

Hundeyin claimed that the police had not received any complaint from any victim.

*Gunmen abduct 15 youths in Imo community, storm monarch’s palace*

There was pandemonium on Saturday after masked gunmen stormed Ekwe Community in the Isu Local Government Area of Imo State and abducted 15 male youths of the community.

The gunmen stormed the community through the Njaba River that demarcated Ekwe Community from Amucha Community in Njaba LGA, a community leader said.

An indigene of Ekwe Community, Akubuo Princewill, told our correspondent on the telephone that the gunmen kidnapped 15 young men who were excavating sand at the Njaba River.

Akubuo said that the gunmen shoot indiscriminately into the air and were in search of more youths of the community to abduct.

He said some young men and other natives who sighted them from afar dashed into nearby bushes to escape abduction.

Akubuo appealed to the state government to come to the rescue of the community even as he wondered what could have informed the invasion of the community.

He said, “We are appealing to the state governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma to come to our rescue.

This morning, some masked gunmen invaded our community, Ekwe through Amucha, arrested some young men who were excavating sand at Njaba River.

“After that, they went into the community shooting sporadically leading to people running helter-skelter.

“Some ran into the surrounding bushes to escape arrest. The gunmen were arresting only male young men. They ignored girls and women as well as elderly men.

“Later, they stormed the palace of our traditional ruler, Eze Nicholas Ibekwe, commanded all to lie down and released about 20 gunshots into the air. They didn’t kill anybody but we are hearing that some might have sustained gunshot injuries.”

The traditional ruler of the community, Eze Nicholas Ibekwe, confirmed the story to our correspondent.

Speaking also through telephone, Eze Ibekwe disclosed that four of the gunmen stormed his palace and commanded all of them to lie down.

The monarch said before storming his palace, the information had come to him that hooded gunmen arrested 15 of his subjects who were excavating sand at Njaba River.

According to the royal father, it was one of the young men who was arrested but let off the hook owing to his visual impairment that alerted the community of the development.

The traditional ruler disclosed that four of the gunmen who stormed his palace wore camouflage with no masks.

Eze Ibekwe further disclosed that one of the gunmen spoke Hausa Language and one of the people told to lie down at his palace who understands Hausa language responded to the gunman’s astonishment.

According to the monarch, it was at this point the gunman turned toward him and said, “You said you be traditional ruler but you dey train criminals” in pidgin English.

When contacted, the police spokesperson for the command, Michael Abattam, advised the community to lodge a formal report to the police post in the area to enable the police to take the matter up.

PoliticsHelicopter Shot At Natives, Left Our Attackers Unhurt – Kaduna Villagers by greenermodels(op): 8:55am On Jun 11, 2022
Some villagers in Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State have fled their homes following Sunday’s attack that left no fewer than 32 people dead while others were injured, Saturday PUNCH learnt.

The Kaduna State Government through its Commissioner for International Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, confirmed the attack.

It was gathered that the bloodthirsty terrorists attacked Ugwan Gamu, Dogon Noma, Ungwan Sarki, and Maikori villages near Maro in Kajuru LGA on Sunday, June 5, 2022.

This came less than 24 hours after terrorists abducted 14 persons at Iri Station, about 8km from Idon town, Idon Ward of the same Kajuru LGA.

It was learnt that the terrorists on Friday killed 25 locals but “as villagers comb surrounding bushes for corpses, seven decomposed bodies were found Monday morning.”

A resident of one of the villages, who escaped from the attack and who crave anonymity, said as the villagers were still nursing the pains of the abduction of their kinsmen and how to raise money for their release, when “the terrorists invaded a nearby communities twice, killing 25 persons.”

The villager added, “The gunmen came twice and operated unhindered, they came sensing that there will be no threat from anybody. When some of our people were abducted by them on Saturday which had been the norm, we thought that was all for the day but we couldn’t sleep that night. It was hell,” he added.

Another victim, who is temporary staying with a relative at Sabon Tasha in Chikun LGA of the state, noted that “our village (Maikori) is completely deserted. We came here since on Monday. We can no longer stay on our ancestral land. The terrorists come at anytime, kidnap and demand ransom. We sold our farm produce to pay ransom everytime.”

He added that at Dogon Noma near Maro, more than 30 residents, among them women and children were killed and several houses were razed by the terrorists.

He continued that “whenever the bandits abduct our people, they will tell us that they are going to release the women and kill all the youths.

“We saw helicopter assisting the bandits. Some of them are riding on motorcycles, wielding AK-47 rifles. Some were wearing military uniforms.

“On market days, they will storm the market and collect phones. Even after payment of ransom, the bandits will call and said they had released the victims, only for us to find the dead bodies.”

Another victim, Martina Dennis, 30, who fled her residence following the attack, said she had an operation in a Kachia hospital but had to come to Kaduna because of the attack at home (village).

Although she claimed that her husband and son were still in the village but lamented that Fulani were terrorising them while saying that “they (attackers) want to take over village”.

“They have rustled our livestock- goats, Rams and chicken,” she added.

But the locals under aegis of Adara Development Association had earlier alleged that a helicopter aided the attackers who invaded the villages, including Ungwan Gamu, Dogon Noma, Ungwan Sarki and Maikori near Maro in Kajuru LGA.

The National President of the Association, Awemi Dio Maisamari, who disclosed in statement made available to journalists, said the attack started around noon on Sunday and lasted until around 6pm unchallenged.

The statement alleged that the attack was carried out by terrorists who came on about 150 motorcycles carrying three AK-47-wielding persons each.

“To the horror of the natives, the white painted helicopter, faced the brave natives instead and started shooting at the youths from the air, clearly leaving out the killers who can be distinctly identified by the mode of dressings and from their positions,” the statement said.

PoliticsSamuel Kanu-Uche: Kidnappers Showed Us Decomposing Bodies, N100m Ransom by greenermodels(op): 6:03am On Jun 01, 2022
The Prelate of the Methodist Church of Nigeria, His Eminence, Samuel Kanu-Uche, who was abducted by hoodlums in Abia State, has said N100m was paid by the church to secure his freedom.

The cleric, who spoke during a press briefing in Lagos on Tuesday, said the kidnappers showed him decomposing bodies of some past victims.

Kanu-Uche was abducted on Sunday along the Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway in the Umunneochi Local Government Area of Abia State.

He was taken together with his chaplain, Very Rev. Abidemi Shittu, and the Bishop of Owerri, Rt. Rev. Dennis Mark.

The prelate said his team was going to the airport when they were attacked.

He said, “In order to catch up with my flight at 4pm, we took off by 2pm to go to the airport, oblivious of the fact that kidnappers were waiting on the road.

“As we were descending to Ileru in Abia State, they came out from the bush and divided themselves into three groups.

“Some were at the back, some at the centre. Then there was another group in front to make sure we did not run away. They fired shots at our vehicle and eventually abducted three of us. The communication man of the church and the driver escaped.

“They took us into the bush and tortured us. In the process of the torture, I hit my right eye on a tree and even when blood was flowing and was soaking my handkerchief, they did not feel like anything happened. All they said was that we should follow them.”

He noted that the eight-man gang was made up of “Fulani boys,” who claimed to be against the government.

The cleric said only one of the hoodlums understood English, while others spoke Fulfulde.

“They even said that if they get Buhari, they will chew him to pieces because he had disappointed them.

“We were taken into the bush and we trekked up to 15 kilometres. Eventually at 11pm, they said we should negotiate and each of us should pay N50m, making N150m,” he added.

He said when he tried to reduce the ransom, the gang threatened to shoot him, adding that their leader was about 35 years old.

Kanu-Uche said the men later pegged the ransom at N100m.

The cleric said he reached out to leaders of the church and his wife to raise the money by all means.

The prelate said he observed that military men were around the place where the hoodlums operated, while their cows were also around the vicinity.

“They pointed their guns at us. They threatened that if we involved the DSS, police or Army, they would kill us.

“They said down there, there is a gully of seven decomposing bodies and we cut off their heads. We also perceived the odour of killed human beings.

“Their leader asked for five Ghana-Must-Go bags for the N100m. He also said Lagos is on their radar.

“I am asking that the government should act now before another thing starts to happen.

“The Methodist church sent N100m for the three of us who were kidnapped. The money came from members of the Methodist Church of Nigeria. The Nigerian Army is complicit in the kidnapping,” he added.

His wife, Florence, while thanking God for the safe return of the cleric, implored the Federal Government to ensure the security of lives and property.

The Chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria, Lagos chapter, Bishop Stephen Adegbite, said it was the duty of the government to protect lives and property.

He said, “The Buhari government has a lot to do. This is a problem of leadership. The ransom paid was from the church and government does not have a hand in it. We don’t have oil wells and anyone who attacks the church, taking money is taking blood money.”

A security expert, Dickson Osagie, said there was a gradual shift of kidnappers from the poor to influential members of society.

He said, “We need to hold the government accountable. For instance, they meet bandits and pay them off. Each time you do this, they are satisfying criminality. The criminals want to excel in their business. They don’t need 10 poor people anymore. They can go for one big protected or unprotected target and strike.

“The administration of criminal justice should be more refined to show the kidnappers that kidnapping is a death penalty. There must be strict punishment. Otherwise there will continue to be a high rise of high profile victims. We could strike out the idea of negotiation but it won’t be the case if anyone of us is kidnapped. Negotiation can only be eradicated when we have a responsive and reactive security mechanism in place. Our security system is defeated. So if the government cannot protect you, you need to protect yourself to get out of these criminals’ dens.”
