Have you been denied visa before? You obviously want to travel for studies based on all your posts on NL so why not the F1 visa?

Gospelozy:
Visa Denied 8/11/2019.
I am still trying to get over it.
Consulate Office Abuja.
Appointment time : 8:00am

I arrived at the embassy 5:00am. I was the only one so I stayed with the Mopol.
Fast forward to some minutes pass 7. We started accreditation.
I was 1 to 13 people that were interviewed, was in a high spirit, smiling all through. Then I was called in, have forgotten the window number.
Vo: Elderly frowning white lady in her late 40s
Me: Good morning
Vo: ignored. Pass your passport. Where are you going to?
Me: **** conference
Vo: Have you traveled out before?
Me: No.
Vo: Sorry you are not eligible. Handing over my passport and blue paper
Me: I have something to say.
Vo: I don't wanna hear it. Next person.

My interview was approximately 4 seconds. It was like a shock as I felt like an infidel the way she asked me to leave, her treatment was so bad as if I was an outcast. She never looked at me. At least she should have allowed me to talk. Meanwhile she denied everyone she interviewed before me.

But I give God all the Glory at least I have experienced it.

When filling your form, in the part that asks for reason for denial, state it clearly that VO asked why you stayed for two months, whereby you stayed for 33 days and only because of the flood. Also state that you wrote in your form then that you would stay for a month and exceeded it by 3 days only because of the flood. Also, pls modify your last post and remove the picture that shows your passport number. All the best Ma'am

loveuGOD:
Good morning everyone
Pls want is going on in USA embassy
I have just been denied renewal of my b1 b2 visa
I have been to USA four times

1st I accompanied my daughter to school I spent only 1week

2nd visit is when my daughter transfer from one university to another. I was there to visit her at the University. Stay for 2week

3rd time I went for her graduation. Stay for 3weeks

4th time I accompanied my second daughter to different school I spent 1month which I indicated when applying.
I spent extra 5days due to flood in Houston because all flight was cancell as all airport were closed because of flood . I don't think this is my fault. It is a natural disasters that no one can control.

All these visit was on different two years visa. i always use all my 2years visa once.

My last visit was 2017
My daughter graduation is next year may. I apply now because my Visa as expired since last year December. So I don't want it to overdue for renewal.

I don't know how my daughter will feel if she heard I won't attend her graduation. She is my last baby. I am 55. This is a very sad day for me. Graduation is a glorious day for any parent.
OMG please what can I do now
What is my offence
I am business woman
My acct is boyant enough and I am my daughter sponsor
Please help me, what can I do

He ask me my occupation
If I have traveled before
Why I traveled in 2017
Why I want to travel now

All this question was answered correctly.
He lied that I stayed for 2month last time. I told him I never stay for 2month. I never did.

What is their problem. Please can I get any help. It will be an evaladting sorrow for me for not attending my daughter graduation while I am still alive. She is the last baby. I attended others.
OMG I can't break this news for her. GOD pls help me. I am a single mother. I don't want to miss this glorious day.
What can I do.

My advice to you as someone that has gone through that phase in life when we think we are smarter and we lie better than our elders, is to stop responding with epistles that end up putting more holes in your story. This is a faceless forum, no one knows the other. Only two people that comment here know me personally and we actually became friends from here. No one knows your "Dad's people". You do not owe any of us explanations. We have made our assumptions, you do not need to explain a million times to prove us wrong or right. As you get older, life will teach you to own things with your chest or to explain things to those who care about you and not strangers on Nairaland. If you have questions about visa process, feel free to ask, to Japa or not is between you and your people. Limit the things you post on the public sphere. VOs visit these threads and from all the plenty unnecessary information you have provided here, it will be easy to know who you are. Good luck with your studies and some day you will see all these posts and laugh. To your credit, I think you are very respectful and that's the only reason I am writing this. If my posts added to your conflict, I do apologise and I hope you learn how not to give a damn or you will spend your life explaining every action you take.
Uriel12:
I went to the Canada thread because of the "scamish" agent I afore mentioned.
If I do get a US visa in future, I will make sure I prove to you, grin that I'm not going to stay Sir.
I have used the internet, and it'd be stupid if I do that.
I no go US again, I have a life here, I'd continue it. Make my aunty hold her money.

You're not judging me?
Sir you've judged me o.
1) you've come to a conclusion that I'd apply for the visa
2) you've also flew into the conclusion that I'd misuse the visa, B2 for that matter.
3) You even went through the quotes so you'd have basis on what to judge me.

But it's cool, na situation and presentation cause am. Plus you're probably talking from intuition and past knowledge so... This is not the first time I'm experiencing such tho. People misquote me ALOT grin grin
TravelRe: USA Visit Visa Part 4 by groovychik(f):
He means you and for good reasons too. First you said you want to go on two weeks holiday, then elsewhere you are asking for schools that give admission without SAT. Aspiring to study in the US is not a bad thing, put in the work, write your SAT etc. Coming to this thread with plenty conflicting stories and looking for people to validate your illegal migrant intentions does nothing but derails this thread.

Uriel12:
You mean me sir?
TravelRe: USA Visit Visa Part 4 by groovychik(f):
In my opinion, Nigerian university is not a tie. Many have left and many will still leave. Your family being in Nigeria is definitely not a tie, except they all depend on you for sustenance aka you earn hundreds of thousands monthly. Your parents as you noted were also denied at some point despite having children in Nigeria. Questions you should ask yourself is How did your Aunt travel to the US? You are young, use this period and build your travel history, Canada denied you and the excuse of having family only in the US did not stop you from trying Canada. Visit other countries, live a little and give the US embassy a break until you have solid ties.
Uriel12:
As for the strong ties sir/ma, my whole family resides her in Nigeria, only one person resides in the US, and she's not even an immediate relative

Actually you are speaking for yourself. Some of us love reading and learning to read will do you a world of good. My people perish for lack of knowledge. Same inability to read is the reason people will ask the same question that has already been answered on the very same page. Same inability to read is the reason people feel entitled to answers they can very well get by a simple search.

One man's meat. I stutter naturally and I did not want the VO to mistake it for nerves, so that was the first thing I told the VO, who before me had denied every single person, including a well travelled clergy that had stood in front of her and I also asked her to be patient. She was patient and I ended up not stuttering at all. That said, I was not desperate and at the time I was okay with whatever outcome. I got the visa, despite being single, no kids and running my own business. Mine happened this. I also know from the horse's mouth that timidity and over humility does not impress them. There are notes etc but the burden of proof is on you and if you need to be heard, demand it or it ends us being wham bang thank you ma'am, that's not being desperate,
it's called being assertive, it's also a skill.

wuki:
Personally, I’d be careful with this approach. FYI: long before you appear for your interview, the consulate likely would have reviewed the data on your DS-160 and added in their notes. This is the only logical explanation to why interviews sometimes last as short as a minute. The VO probably already knows what [s]he needs to know. Coming up to say: “hey, I want to be heard” comes at the expense of sounding desperate. Of course every applicant is there to be heard; saying it out loud is simply counterintuitive. Going on to start explaining things without being asked could see you shooting yourself in the foot.
My fist visa interview back in 2010 resulted in a denial and I wasn’t even given a chance to explain what seemed to be a concern to the VO. I secured another interview 3 days later with the help of a friend at CGI — and my interview lasted only 3 minutes. VO didn’t raise any of the concerns from my previous interview from 3 days ago; in short, my visa was issued. This is exactly why I mentioned earlier that your next interview may not necessarily follow the same pattern as the former. Carry all supporting docs to argue your case, be brief to the point and don’t forget your confidence at home. Show no desperation or slickness.
TravelRe: USA Visit Visa Part 4 by groovychik(f): 9:37pm On Nov 04, 2019
Hello Ferdinand. Just a tip that a friend swears by. As you reapply, take charge of your interview. You are neither a thief nor a flight risk. At the start of your interview forget the good morning, no one cares how anyone's morning is, start by telling the VO that you would really appreciate if he/she gives you the opportunity to be heard. Point out you travelled to see your sister before you passed the exam, thus used for the initial purpose. Then take it from there.

Ferdinand234:
Clinical rotations for caribbean students rotating in US hospitals are done on a tourist visa. This is the reference in the foreign affairs manual. As a matter of fact, a few of my nigerian classmates succesfully had their renewals. They already had B1/B2 visas and it makes no sense applying for a b1/b2 visa specifically for rotations when you already have a valid one.

9 FAM 402.2-5(E)(3) sets forth the rules for using a B1 visa to engage in a medical clerkship.

The medical clerkship exception applies to an alien who is studying at a foreign medical school. Such an alien may seek to enter the United States temporarily in B1 status in order to take an elective clerkship at a U.S. medical school's hospital. Such an alien may not receive remuneration from the hospital. The FAM explains that an “elective clerkship” is defined as “afford[ing] practical experience and instructions in the various disciplines of medicine under the supervision and direction of faculty physicians at a U.S. medical school's hospital as an approved part of the alien's foreign medical school education.”

The FAM makes clear that the medical clerkship is only for foreign “medical students pursuing their normal third or fourth year internship in a U.S. medical school as part of a foreign medical degree.”

@groovychik; for the purpose of doing a back and forth sake, don’t you think generating a DS160 form number and scheduling an appointment with it is quite different from the actual filling and submission of the form itself before scheduling an appointment? It seems so though....

Meanwhile, for learning purposes and as an advice, @the bolded is the best thing to do any day in order to avoid getting enmeshed in a mixup and by extension a turn back on one’s interview day as have been the case of many here almost from time immemorial till date.

Why don't you quote the guy that ask the question instead? Instead you replied me in this kind of rude manner, I have noticed you on this thread you keep acting like you know me somewhere or have offended you before. Who do you think you are a demi god or what? The guy asked a question, nobody gave him a reply, I answered him with the little knowledge i have, instead you to correct me in a polite way, you're being rude, nobody is a god or leader here o. You are preaching to the choir. I have concluded that this person is a troll and not a serious applicant. We all have paid too much attention to him. No more pls.

helpee:
We don't know you. This is a faceless forum. Do you now assume we are jealous of you because you met the love of your life on the internet? I had a guy working for me even before trump. He met a fellow Jehovah witness online and they fell in love . I told him same thing. He got a letter from the lady. Got a letter from their kingdom hall he would use the opportunity to attend a kingdom hall conference bla bla. I told him not to mention the lady. He didn't hear. He travelled all the way to Abuja saying they had better success rate than Lagos. The moment he mentioned the lady...the VO just concentrated on the relationship and denied him after just 3 questions. In this your case, it is very very certain they will deny you. You are only going for excursion at the Embassy. Don't say we didn't warn. No VO will give you visa. Let me tell you your profile( not meant to demean you) so you can put yourself in the shoes of the VO and see.....YOU HAVE NO WORK, YOU HAVE NO FAMILY, YOU HAVE NO TRAVEL HISTORY COS YOU CANT EVEN AFFORD TO TRAVEL ON YOUR OWN(Not your fault since you have no job), YOU EVEN HAVE NO HOPE OF GETTING A GOOD JOB SOON SINCE YOU HAVE NO EDUCATION ( YOU DROPPED OUT OF SCHOOL), YOU MET A LADY ONLINE( WHEN NIGERIANS ARE KNOWN ONLINE SCAMMERS), YOU HAVE NEVER MET, YOU JUST WANT TO VISIT HER FOR TWO WEEKS AND COME( TO COME AND DO WHAT?) Why will you come back? So you think the VO will somehow become blind or deaf to all these qualities and then grant you the visa because a citizen invited you? He may even feel obligated to protect the citizen from you....since Nigerians are well documented online scammers using love to defraud American. Build a better profile for your future than wasting money on a visa you will most likely be denied of. You should have told the lady you want to go back to school since she want to sponsor you. Get admitted to an easy country in Europe and go and study first. It makes more sense
TravelRe: USA Visit Visa Part 4 by groovychik(f): 2:54am On Oct 29, 2019
In December he will come back and lie that he was approved. Let them keep encouraging him. In 10 years time he will go on another forum to seek for advice on how to travel to the US with his wife and kids.

TWoods:
It’s not about negativity, it’s based on the facts. As of October 15, 2019, Visa Officers are now required to weigh your admissibility based on your potential to become a public charge. That includes at a minimum, consideration of your age, health status (important for those seeking to give birth in the US), family status, assets, resources, financial status I.e. annual gross income for the your household size of at least 125 percent of the most recent federal poverty guideline. For a family of 1, that is $12,490 or N4.5m.

You can try your luck of course. But as I said, no amount of prayer will change the rules.
TravelRe: USA Visit Visa Part 4 by groovychik(f): 1:36pm On Oct 27, 2019
They will reject you. When you now become a productive member of the society, you will find it difficult to get the same visa. US Visa is not 'try your luck'

You took the rejection well. There is something called a buddy system. If the woman was in the same cubicle during the interview, she is most likely a new VO and your interview was being used to teach her. People on this thread are not sadists, neither do they derive joy from people's rejection. If you are to go to US embassy, come correct. One might say "let me go try my luck". The try my luck of yesterday will negatively impact and reduce your chances when you finally have your shit together and try again. This is not particular to your case, just dropping it for those that know their chances are less than 10%, but intent on helping the US economy

VA: Where are you going in the United States?
Me: Texas
VA: What for?
Me: To spend my annual leave with my brother (who is a citizen) based on his invitation.
VA: Any medical plans?
Me: No
VA: What do you do?
Me: i am a program analyst in the Civil service (exact place withheld)
My sister: I'm a student
VA: Do any of you have kids?
Me & Sis: Nope.
(He closed the audio transmitter and had a lengthy discussion with a woman in the cubicle, think it took about 3 to 5 minutes)
VA: I'm sorry we can't grant your visa request bla bla bla...
Me: Thank you.
At a moment, it seemed he considered us cos the VA didn't even spend as much time with the applicants ahead of us (he denied them all) as he did with us.
I am single, stated that during my interview and was still issued a visa this year. My holiday plan was for two weeks, went and returned after 8 days because I had a meeting that suddenly came up in 9ja that could not be postponed. My travel history is not even as extensive as yours. I don't know what criteria they use, but I am done second guessing

mroyato:
Chief there's nothing in this world to convince me about marriage not being the number 1 tie. I wasn't going to say this but let me write briefly and temporarily an abstract of my profile.

1. I have a decent and proper travel history. Infact our discussion started with my last flight ticket to Milan which I forgot in my passport. I have been to Milan, Paris, Berlin, Rome (Single entry schengen visa tho). I have also lost count on the number of times I have been to south Africa because I had my MSC there. I have also visited Kenya, Kigali, Windhoek, and Addis at least twice. So what travel history are we talking about?

2. I have a decent job. I mean decent decent. Proper 6 figure salary with an international org.

3. I am single.

At the end of the interview, he said I know it is shocking but I am refusing your application.

Note: In about 4 hours at the embassy, all the people for counter 6 (or whatever counter people who were issued visas was supposed to report ) were all married people except for young people travelling for studies. But if you are single and your application is tourism/vacation, sorry is your case.

Caveat: A lot of our people are actually trying their luck at this thing. I wouldn't grant a lot of the visas too if I were a consular. Some Nigerians have no business going near the U.S embassy. It was all fun tho I really enjoyed myself at the stories our people were cooking during the interviews.

Knowing someone in the US is neither an advantage
nor a disadvantage. It wouldn't have changed the outcome of your interview so stick to what you have on your form already. Like people here have stated, build your travel history. Visit other vacation spots, then reapply.

Sasorah:
Uhm I did it myself, I clearly stated that i went to Benin Republic for studies(I school there and my passport was stamped when I passed the border last year)
And my school took us for excursion in Ghana.

All the best with your UK job and thank you for uploading your transcript. Do permit me to critique your transcript so that others can learn. One of the things I learnt from previous threads before my interview was to answer only questions I was asked, without volunteering additional information, which is equal to giving them armour to use. They was no need for the UAE extra info, it should have ended at 5 weeks without telling them the whole job part, it is none of their business, shows lack of home ties. Like I posted before on this thread, they do not appreciate honesty. A friend that has been to the US many times for nothing more than 3 weeks at a time was denied the same Visa for mentioning she was going to see her boyfriend during her interview. They asked her to ask him to file for a K1 Visa for her. This is a man she has been dating and visiting for 2 years. If she had kept that information to herself, she would have renewed her Visa. The good part is you are not desperate to travel and I wish you all the best.

During your interview in Nigeria, I am certain you didn't tell the VOs you had plans of working and this is assuming what you said is true. But you insist on blaming everyone but yourself but you all are the reason travelling is now a big deal. Own your hypocrisy bro. Change begins with YOU. We are not blind to the moral bankruptcy in Nigeria, some of us are actively leading that change but we do not pour our frustrations out on a faceless forum, while harassing those that are seeking the same route you chose. Own your L bruh or come back to join those advocating for the change you seek.

TWoods:
Same old false allegations. Rinse repeat. How do you misuse a work visa? There are perfectly legal means of emigrating to any country you wish. In many ways than one, I have actively encouraged, and continue to encourage those who are legitimate to do so. The Canada process is one example. What I will continue to push back on is the sheer number of those who we all know have no interest in using the process honestly misuse their visas and then hide behind the fig leaf of “you too misused your visa” to continue to make the rest of us look guilty by association.

It continues to befuddle me why no one is bothered by how many of our fellow citizens make it so hard to legitimately obtain a visa. You can rail all you want, the truth is things are harder for Nigerians today, not because of me or my wife’s voting preferences, but because of you who continue to enable the frauds among us. You all know them, good luck continuing to look the other way.
TravelRe: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 15 by groovychik(f):
In as much as I find your views refreshing from the norm, you don't practice what you preach. You want students to stay back and study here, why didn't you? What makes you think they cannot contribute to the American society as much or even more than you've done considering you are not American by birth or parentage. I agree some people do not have the best intentions for wanting to travel and should be banned if possible, but you could have been at the forefront of this change you propagate but yet you sought refuge elsewhere. Before you accuse me of feeling entitled, I am neither an aspiring student or economically unfortunate and never been refused a Visa as an adult and like you I believe it's the prerogative of a country to give or refuse Visa to anyone. However, you share a kinship with those looking to leave because you misused your Visa and misrepresented yourself during your interview and kudos for legalizing your stay but you ain't no different.

Absolutely yes. I never would have left to be honest. I loved living in Nigeria, it was fun. But that’s really where it ends. The problem with Nigeria isn’t so much the corruption, lawlessness and mediocrity, it’s the fact that the people accept it as a way of life, have no interest in changing and insult you for demanding better... all while wasting everyone’s time at holyghost conventions of course.

Go to CEAC site, click on retrieve application, put in all the details plus security questions, a screen will pop up letting you know the form you are trying to retrieve has been submitted and giving you the option to view confirmation page or create new application. Click on create new application, correct what you need to correct etc and submit. You can then go to the profile on CGI and change the DS160 number. You have to do this not later than 72 hours before the interview. If your interview is far, still do it now. If you have issues changing the CGI number, send an email to support-nigeria@ustraveldocs.com and call the call centre from 9am weekdays on +234 1 227 8955. Explain the issue, they would change your appointment to reflect the new form number and send you an email.

quote author=Happygogirl post=81253466]Hello kind hearts in the house,

@justwise and other gurus,

Please i need your kind advice urgently. I applied for a US visitor's visa in April but was requested to schedule a 221g appointment for a follow on interview. However my sibling who i intend visiting got a new job and has now changed job and has a new address. I have tried editing the new details on my DS160 form but says it has been submitted so i can't. Am in a fix now as i don't know whether to go with the old details and explain at the embassy or i can make and submit a new DS160 application form. I don't know if making a new application is acceptable.

Kindly advise please.
