Congratulations in advance. It's better to take it there yourself to avoid stories that touch. You can as well go to a branch of your bank and get it done today. No need for cover letter and when its issued, the status will change to issued on ceac

drwrites:
Since joining this thread for almost a decade with different Usernames, i can finally share a transcript today.
I had my interview this morning at US consulate in Lagos for 6:45am appointment.
After the normal check-ins and all, i was the first person to be interviewed by the guy in cubicle 3.
First thing i noticed on his table was a heap of blue sheet - no single white paper at sight, my confidence flew away and i was saying to myself "shey this guy no plan to give anybody visa today?"
Trancript below

Vo - Pass me your passport (the guy appear like person wey no won work, e no even greet me)
Me - I passed it to him
Vo - Why are you going to the US?
Me - To attend an international conference on digital health
Vo - What is digital health?
Me - I told him(upon all my preparation i no prepare for this question, so i stuttered at the start but later gathered momentum)
Vo- What do you plan to gain from this conference?
Me - I told him (but i spoke more on my poster...mentioned the importance to me as an Epidemiologist )
Vo - But i thought you are a Veterinarian (he saw that on my Ds160 i suppose)
Me - Yes am a Veterinary Epidemiologist
Vo - How long have you been working?
Me- I answered
Vo - Are you married?
Me - Yes
Vo - You have kids?
Me- Yes, 2
Vo - Who is sponsoring this trip?
Me - Myself
Vo- Do you have your Account statement there?
Me - sighed, i do not have it with me here (i no carry my statement cuz of some things i read here that it is so impt...infact, the only document i took along with me aside appointment and Ds160 confirmation was the Invitation Letter for the conference, Marriage and my Kid's birth certificate)

Na so he put hand for up on the shelf, and brought a white paper, wrote my name on it, circled an address and wrote Bank statement on the 5 o'clock corner of the paper.
He handed out the paper to me and told me to send my Bank statement to the circled address, and my passport.

To my questions:
1. For people that have had experiences close to mine...i stay outside lagos, can i courier the statement of account and passport to the GSS Document collection Center address circled...or i must take it there myself physically?

2. Do i need to attach any cover-letter while dispatching the docs.

3. How do i know when my Visa has been approved and affixed to my passport?

Read the thread, you don't even need to go far, start from 480 and you will find what you seek. Let us try and cultivate a reading culture instead of expecting information to be handed to us on a platter

Hi... Good Morning Nairalanders..
I'm making preparation for an international conference at USA in July...

Please i need comprehensive list of key documents required for a successful interview...

Thanks

CAC documents, tax clearance certificate, corporate account statement. Again, they may not ask to see it but it is better to be prepared than go unprepared

Teebawse:
What if I own a company?what documents do I need to take along for an interview

You will go far in life with this secret! That is the charm. Just ask yourself, what do you want? whatever conviction you allow your mind to settle for is what you get! Salam!
TravelRe: USA Visit Visa Part 3 by groovychik(f): 2:14pm On Mar 07, 2019
Again, I was not asked for Bank statement but my friend was asked for her's. Do not carry oluwole statement, they have people designated to scrutinise and banks on speed dial. Oluwole will get you a lifetime ban. My friend has less than 200k in her statement, her pay slip showed she could comfortably afford her trip and she was issued a visa. Do not let anyone discourage you from applying as long as you have genuine intentions. I left this forum for almost 5 days before my interview cos I did not want any negativity. I had positive vibes before my interview and it paid off. Interview day I zoned out voices and could only see people rejected without hearing their responses. Positivity and prayers always works.

abiolagenius:
How do i know what Extra documents will be asked for pls? Apart from my int passport, Invitation letter, Ds Form , visa reciept and appointment confirmation slip... i'm going to attend my cousin's Graduation in May
Ps: from most people's interview receipt here they didn't ask for more documents than i stated it was more of a conversationation stuff than documents..

But please i will like to know if u feel more documents may be required i await your response..

Don't be disheartened, can you post your transcript and the gurus here will give you pointers

I was also rejected today even after a rescheduled appointment! I have been to the USA five times and I was wondering what would have gone wrong till I saw the '3 months stay'! I actually stayed for up to 3 months. I am a lecturer and was on vacation when I heard schools were on strike I had to extend my stay till when it was almost over! I am very confident but when I saw the way the pink form was being dished out today I lost my composure and I think I blabbed a bit in some of my questions which the VO asked!!!!! She asked about my stay for 3 months and I told her also asked what I was going to do in America in April told her asked me about my family and who will take care of them told her there were in school, where I worked told her maybe because of my shaky voice and non composure that I was denied I can't say because I answered all the questions she asked!!!!!

Well there you have it. The VO's are not stupid and can smell desperation and you have just admitted to being a flight risk. Being Igbo has nothing to do with it, most of us are so pls quit giving us a bad name. There is a thread for Immigrant visa on Nairaland, do explore it for ways to immigrate legally, while we keep helping genuine applicants here. Goodluck with your quest sir

gimakon:
I wouldn't blame you for saying that. One quick question, I haven't seen someone who doesn't like a good life sir. I get offers for remote jobs and miss them because of my home country, and you think it's a Good thing ? Well sir, you are Comfortable ,I'm an Ibo man, yes I have a job here, but truthfully, I'm not comfortable. I need upgrade. That's why I am seeking a better life than this one here.
Don't term it desperation. No one is comfortable with this nonsense happening here.
Thank you.

Like Omobendel pointed out, it looks like you used an agent. Even if you didn't, Homestay and building contractor definitely raised the flags and reduced your chances. I will advice you get on to Quora.com and follow the posts a retired VO called "Kathry Berck" responds to. You need to understand that the VOs default posture is not to give you visa, if you give them any doubt then you make it easy for them. They are trained not to give visas until you convince them. Good luck

@seyewest put you through the process for you to change the 3 months information on your form before your interview. All your details are still on their site. You cannot be a business owner today and tmr you are suddenly employed, that is red flag already. Try and disvirgin your passport before attempting to reapply and give it some time so you do not appear desperate.

Neeta02:
Hello house! I had my interview yesterday in Abuja, but unfortunately I didn’t get it. Your thoughts were right. The 3months stay spoilt it I guess. So many families/individuals were given pink paper yesterday. I wasn’t scared though, I was hopeful
Here goes my transcript.

VO: Good morning
Me: Hello good morning (with a smiling face)
VO: can I have your passport?
Me: (hands passport over to her)
VO: have you traveled before?
Me: no, never had a reason to travel outside Nigeria
VO: So why are you going to Ohio?
Me: I’m going to visit fam; my sis, her hubby & their 2 kids. I want to go spend time with them
VO: I can see you want to stay for 3months
Me: no please, that was a mistake on my path while I was filling the form
VO: so how long do you intend to stay?
Me: I would like to stay for 4weeks
VO: ok, what do you do?
Me: I’m a business person, I import ... from China & Vietnam & sell here in Nigeria. I also sell... here...
(She listened carefully & was nodding)
VO: ok. Are you married?
Me: no, but I’m taking care of my dad here, he has ...(at this point I wasn’t audible)
VO: (nodded then brought out the pink paper & my passport) sorry you are not qualified blablabla

I felt bad, like my world became dark at that instant. But yeah! I’ve gotten the experience, I made silly mistakes while filling the form & I guess that affected me. Next time will be better.

Also, my dad reapplied through Dropbox, but he was told to reschedule for interview when he picked his passport yesterday at dhl office. So my question is this, is there a time frame to which he can reschedule or at anytime? Also if he goes for the interview, he needs someone there with him because he has hearing difficulty, so we’re thinking I apply again then book appointment the same day with my dad so that I can assist him.

I’ll get an employment letter from my uncle to show that I’m an employee in his company, that means I now have a job added to my business. What do you think guys?

So sorry for the refusal. you know VO's actually visit these pages and even have their own threads here. You just opened a thread stating you wish to relocate to Barbados, hence, they just might see your refusal as the right decision, considering your lack of ties here. Will advice you wait till you actually have a genuine tourist/conference purpose.

gimakon:
Man didnt ask me what I do for a living. Just this last question he hammered on before giving me that Blue Slip.

I learnt from this thread that VO's do not answers like 10 to 14 days. You wrote on your form how long you will be staying, stick to that during the interview

Lol.. I can elaborate my replies tho if that's the case.. Also i will be going with my Old Passport that has the UAE stamp.. And just as you said las las it is grace that qualifies where one is unqualified. PS: yes i'm a Christian.

Pls nairalanders, I need your advise.
I had applied to the US for visit visa last year but was denied. In my application, I was going for vacation/ sight seeing on my own...no invitation letter.
This year, my cousin who entered the US through masters programme, later got married and stayed back is willing to invite me. So my questions are??

1. Does US questions the mode of entering the by the person inviting the applicant even though he/ she now lives there legallyhuh
2. Should I still maintain my initial plan of visiting without INVITE or get the invite from my cousin as this will reduce financial expectation from mehuh

Thanks.

Seems like the waiting period for dropbox has reduced immensely. My Mum has US visa valid till March. I was advised here that she waits till it has expired. I called the US call centre and I was told anyone could apply at anytime and if issued, old one would be cancelled and new one pute, so we went ahead to apply

Friday 1st of February- Passport was dropped at DHL
Tuesday 5th of February- Status changed to received
Wednesday the 6th- It changed to Administrative Processing
Thursday (today)- It changed to Issued with a mail stating the document had been collected from the US embassy

We will wait till Monday to go pick up. Good luck to all.

I did not ask a question, I was answering someone that said he made payment with a mastercard and cannot access his receipt and that it is an online bank after i informed him to walk into any branch of his bank for receipt.

seyewest:
You have to provide more information... none of us here is a soothsayer or get paid to do this.... What happened?
TravelRe: USA Visit Visa Part 3 by groovychik(f): 5:05pm On Jan 24, 2019
You paid with a Mastercard, is it not connected to a bank account?
Mrbigman1:
An online bank
TravelRe: USA Visit Visa Part 3 by groovychik(f): 7:42pm On Jan 23, 2019
Why don't you walk into branch of the bank and sort it out once and for all

Mrbigman1:
Ok, thanks. U mean the bank alone can solve this?
Cos i used the feedback option and I got a reply that they have not received the money to generate a pass for me. But that’s how I go it rough when I applied for my Turkish visa last month.

If the bank is the only option then I will keep calling. And thank you much

Click on the CEAC site, click on retrieve application, put in all the details plus security questions, a screen will pop up letting you know the form you are trying to retrieve has been submitted and giving you the option to view confirmation page or create new application. Click on create new application, correct what you need to correct etc and submit. Send an email to support-nigeria@ustraveldocs.com and call the call centre from 9am weekdays on +234 1 227 8955. Explain the issue, they would change your appointment to reflect the new form number and send you an email. Voila

TravelRe: USA Visit Visa Part 3 by groovychik(f): 11:27pm On Jan 15, 2019
My situation. I have a Sister on a H4 visa, even though visiting her is not the purpose of my trip. I applied for tourism purpose and I have never been to the US and this was my first application. I got my degree and master’s in the UK and I still have valid UK visa. However, I have a new passport and the visa is on an old one. In fact I had two old passports in the file with me and I was not asked for them. Interview was in Abuja and while on the line, the slim Black American lady quickly rejected three applicants, while the other windows were still occupied. She did not spend more than a minute on any of them. I was praying not to be directed to hers’ and to be honest, I did not hear the responses of the three because I tuned out. I was now directed to her window.

VO: Good morning
Me: Good morning, I have a bit of a stutter, I will need you to be patient
VO: That’s Okay
V.O: Are you travelling alone?
Me: Yes
V.O: Where exactly are you going to?
Me: Atlanta, New Orleans and New York
V.O: What are you planning to do when you travel?
(I have a full itinerary and I took my time, pls note the WE in my response)
Me: Arrive Atlanta on the 2nd, WE will take a road trip to New Orleans on the 3rd, Plantation Tour and steam boat cruise on the 4th, Mardi Gras parade on the 5th, Back to Atl on 6th , fly to New York on the 8th, Catch Chicago on Broadway on the 8th, two days tour on 9th and 10th, back to Atl on the 11th, 5 hour sight-seeing tour bus on the 12th, Southern food tour on the 14th, fly back on the 15th.
V.O: Who is the WE?
Me: My friend that I will be staying with
V.O: What do you do?
Me: I own a …………….we work with mostly Government Parastatals like…………
V.O: How many staff do you have?
Me: I have X number of staff and when needed I use adhoc staff
V.O: Are you single?
Me: Yes, but I live with my nephew and my two dogs (I had plenty pics of me and my dogs, but I was not asked for any document, not even my other passports)
V.O: Who is Ifiiiiii?
(the V.O was trying to pronounce my Sister’s name, so I helped her out with it)
Me: She is my Sister
V.O: Not your friend?
Me: No, my sister
V.O: What is her status?
Me: She is on a H4 Visa
The V.O typed for about a minute and in my head I was like oh! dear! Now she’s gonna refuse
V.0: When last did you see her?
Me: 8 years ago
V.O: Are you planning to see her on this trip?
Me: She will be in Michigan at the time I plan to travel, but I will see her in subsequent trips
V.O: Where else have you been to?
Me: I have been travelling to the UK since I was a year old, I went to school in the UK and I have travelled extensively within the United Kingdom and I still a valid visa (she didn’t ask to see it)
V.O: (hands over a white sheet) this paper explains how you can pick your passport, enjoy your trip
Me: (In shock) thank you, thank you

When people say Visa is God’s doing, that is not a lie. A Pastor with extensive travel history, was denied Visa. I had everything going against me, Sister in the US, Single and of marriageable age. I stammer, especially if am in a tense situation but for some stroke of luck, once I told her I stammer, I did not stutter throughout the interview. Honestly, I avoided any US visa thread on Nairaland for four days before my interview, because the rejections were depressing and I just was reading US visa success stories just to create a positive vibe in my head. I also knew it was not do or die, since I am going on holiday, I figured if they said no, I will go somewhere else. I planned to smile all through but I did not, I was just formal in my responses. Interview was yesterday and this afternoon I got a message that passport is ready for collection. Good luck with to all the applicants, just ensure you know your travel plans and be confident.

Congrats!

Join Public Speaking clubs in your school.

Also, the job search process may be slightly more difficult for you especially if you're seeking client-facing roles. So, keep that in mind so that you can work harder and not feel disappointed when things don't work as fast as you expect. In the end, all will be well.

I don't want to sound negative (especially on your happy day, haha), but I just want you to keep that in mind and prepare beforehand.
TravelRe: USA Visit Visa Part 3 by groovychik(f): 6:31pm On Jan 14, 2019
I told them upfront and was seriously drilled. I was asked 13 questions and as God would have it, I did not stutter at all, which is incredulous. I would post an advice I got on Nairaland from a wise man below, which really helped my confidence level. all the best...

First of all, accept the fact that the friend in question is you! I'll give you my experience so that you don't feel that you are alone. Others with a similar issue can also read this and note the tips.

I'm emotionally touched to respond to this question because I also have a similar issue and have somehow managed it.

You won't go wrong telling the VO about your speech issues before you start the interview. In fact, this step is recommended by one of the VO's here on nairaland. The benefit of this step is that it reduces your stress level and allows the VO to be patient with you. If you don't trust your fluency or you feel you may have moments of stuttering during your interview, I advise you follow this strategy.

The other strategy, which I used, is to rehearse very very well and know your words for every likely question. This strategy is different from cramming. Know your school, your program, everything about your application and rehearse them very very well. I rehearsed every day for one month before my interview. I drafted likely questions and gave to my nice friend who called me every day at a particular time for 3 rounds of interviews. It took less than 40 minutes each day for the interviews and the feedback. The friend knew my condition and suggested ways I could avoid some words or use synonyms where necessary. Another friend, who also knew about my condition, assisted with several rounds of physical mocks a few days to my interview. To practice my fluency, I volunteered to help other visa applicants with their mocks on the condition that they also give me mock interviews. So, I would do 3 rounds with them and they will do 3 rounds with me. These applicants did not know about my condition and even when I stuttered sometimes, it wasn't pronounced and they didn't notice. I used their interviews to get a feel of how the atmosphere will be when I'm interviewing with a total stranger like a VO. I think I had ~ 12 mocks with those visa applicants.

My strategy may be very hectic, but I did it because I hate being seen as an object of pity. So, if method 2 seems hectic for you, method 1 is totally fine. Just rehearse, relax and tell the VO about your issue. Then, speak without fear because 90% of stuttering is caused by the fear of stuttering, not even the stuttering itself.

Overall, being a stutterer is a very hard thing in our society. Just imagine the shame you'll feel when you have your moments while giving a speech in a packed gathering. Just be strong and keep pushing.

About my interview, I had two stuttering moments but I think the VO didn't notice because I paused, took a deep breath and continued. She may probably be thinking that "E be like say this boy don forget him script grin grin grin".

God bless.

Thank you. Will go after election for two weeks

bracelum:
Perfect!

Your stress level reduced as you told the VO
As I said earlier, >90% of stuttering is caused by the fear of stuttering, not by stuttering itself.

Keep fighting and best of luck in the US
