cooltola: And so, Trump is still untouchable, you know the senators are not going to remove Trump from office whether the house Democrats impeach him. Many Americans love Trump. Trump will get reelected again, you know why because all the rednecks, the southerners and conservatives , anti LGBT folks, some Hispanics and even undercover black Americans who pretend to hate Trump but deep down love his policies will vote for him. This is the reality, many loves his policies and the way he does not send anyone and would not be surprised if he win the popular and electoral votes. Anderson Cooper, Don Lemon , the CNN or MSNBC hosts can argue about him from morning to night. Nothing go happen, because the Democrat do not have the Senate majority, the US economy is not bad, and there are jobs. If it was the other way around, then Trump might not get elected Americans actually obey their constitution and laws more than we do in Nigeria. That is probably the only difference between them and us. |

Politics › Re: Amotekun: ‘To Hell With Their Presidency’ - Afenifere Blasts Miyetti Allah by Guestlander: 12:39pm On Jan 17, 2020 |
LandMann: We all should put emotions, tribalism and ethnic hatred aside and examine this issue of Ametokun based purely on its merits and demerits and in light of existing laws.
The following points should guide us:
1. Internal security is an exclusive task of the FG. FG can give authority to state or local actors to improve security. Example; local vigilantes and some paramilitary organisation like Man o War must acquire police permission before operating... This is an example of FG giving other actors permission to act in improving security.
2. There's no federal law or agreement between federal and state outlining the activities to be covered by Ametokun, given the existence of police, nscdc and other existing internal security outfit... This agreement or law is important to avoid conflict between these organisations when issues of security occur. We're still dealing with superiority contest between FRSC, VIO, NSCDC, YELLOW FEVER, POLICE AND ARMY on our highways...
3. With no national law or agreement coupled with high level of illiteracy and unprofessionalism of most state workers, state governments can quickly start using Ametokun as instrument of oppression and a means of further looting state resources because security spending is often shrouded in secrecy, and even Ametokun members can take to crimes as side hustle when they start feeling dissatisfied with their salary. They have the training and the instrument of force (guns)... Who's going to prevent them from misusing both and how?
The above are just some issues worth considering.
If all the loopholes are properly plugged, then Ametokun can kick off.
We shouldn't cheer on the idea even with the obvious loopholes because it can quickly spread, every region can quickly have their own version of Ametokun and it won't be long before outside actors start smuggling weapons to these different regional Ametokuns and with the existing ethnic hatred, it won't take long before another civil war arises that will tear Nigeria apart and make current Libya and Iraq look like heaven compared to how Nigeria will look like.
We should protect our country, not our states or region or ethnic enclave. There will be no need for Amotekun if some people have not taken it upon themselves to kill and maim fellow citizens for no reason. Self preservation is the first law of nature, every other thing is secondary. |

There's no law which says you can't protect yourself when people are being killed or kidnapped with impunity. If Ipobs want to make themselves the sacrificial lambs they are free to do so. 0monnak0da: I think the point eludes you. Cargo will pay more money than people. How much can the Nigerian customer pay? Is is profitable as a business If it was your business would you prioritise low paying people
Truth is for people it would be too expensive for average people without subsidy. Are we doing this for the right reasons. Or so we can say we too have trains. Almost all the inputs are imported Paid for in dollars. So we should expect similar pricing The loans are in dollars
If the MAIN business is carrying people .
It will never break even . Will there even be money for maintenance
Minimum wage in Nigeria is what ?
A train journey to Ibadan should be about 10000? How many can afford it Do cargo trains use different rail lines? If the trains are going to carry only passengers why the need to link it with the ports in Lagos and the inland port in Ibadan? |

Staro: Oga, stop fooling yourself and displaying your ignorance in public.
The Lagos-Ibadan phase is part of the entire Lagos - Kano rail project.
The federal govt under GEJ only chose to break it down in phases for funding convenience. The target was to complete Abuja - Kaduna first, then followed by Lagos - Ibadan. Next phase is the Kaduna - Kano and finally Ibadan - Abuja
China has already agreed to execute the entire stretch from Lagos - Kano through a loan deal while the FG only pays a token 10% as counterparts funds.
Buhari did not know anything about how GEJ and OBJ struck these deals with China. He only inherited these projects and must continue them because China is too important to mess with.
The next president after Buhari will be duty bound to continue from wherever he stops.
I put it to you that you are a liar. Jonathan and OBJ? Did Jonathan and Obj participate in the same government? There was Yar' Adua between the two. How did you come up with Jonathan and OBJ? You are trying to avoid saying the railway masterplan was not even Jonathan's idea! How dishonest. |

Staro: Lol, some of you sound just plain daft. Are you saying you were not aware of same Chinese rail project during GEJ tenure?
I mean, Abuja - Kaduna, Ajaokuta - Warri and Abuja Metro line. So, you were not aware of massive work ongoing on those three rail projects during GEJ's tenure? Intact, GEJ already completed over 99% of Abuja - Kaduna before handing over
How old are you or ... did you just start following FG activities only when Buhari became president? First of all, the Lagos to Ibadan railway project was started under the Buhari administration. If you are not daft as you are trying to convince me then you will know that it is absurd to thank Jonathan for it. We know when the contract was signed and when the actual construction started, all under Buhari. If you are not dumb then you should know that the success or failure of this project can only be attributed to Buhari's administration and not Jonathan. I bet when the second Niger bridge is completed you will also thank Jonathan for it. If you are not a kid then I'm sorry for you. |
