When a Langtang man is given appointment you are quick to call him Hausa Fulani,

Or a Jukun, Angas, Kanuri, Nupe, Gwari Man...?

Are they not distinct tribes just like Igbo or Yoruba?

Or they don't deserve appointments and leadership?

So when any of these other tribes are appointed, you cry Hausa-Fulani because you want it all just for your people ?

Check yourself. You are driven by greed, wickedness and a madening selfishness

He is not derailing the post. Don't run from the glaring truth of his question.

Out of the over 250 tribes in this country, GEJ gave the igbos unprecedented preference in appointments.

Did any of the other tribes wail this much?
How many Yoruba, Anang, Jukun, Angas or Ibibio[ were appointed to key posituons in GEJ's government?

Continue crying. No one will come to your aid. Next time your people no go play their politcal penalty go throwing

Stop all giving credence to this prejudiced write up will you?

Have you checked the leadership of the military formations in other parts of the country?

The system the Army runs is that of using people from different tribes as the head in areas where their sense of judgement won't be clouded by ethnic sentiments. A lot of the leadership of formations in the North are filled with Southerners.

Don't lump every tribe in the old northern region borders into Hausa-Fulani. We have Angas, Jawara, Nupe, Igala, Gwaris, Jukun, Kanuris... they are distinct tribes and all also deserve to be represented in appointments.

Stop the wailing when it's not an Igbo man is that is appointed to any post you think they deserve. You still have over 250 tribes in this country. All these other tribes also deserve to be in these posts.

Quick question : why does the military name operations in the north in Hausa(e.g Lafia Dole), but refuse to do so in the southern parts of the country. Naming their operations in the indigenous languages of the various parts or major tribes of the area?

Well.... this exercise in the SW is just a clumsy way to justify the senseless operations in the SE.
The military has made the police, mobile police and civil defense jobless.
The military ought to be focused on mainly external aggression.
This whole exercise is senseless and counter productive to the unity, progress and sustainable development of our nation.

It's easy to blame Awolowo for Genocide. You easily forget that Ojukwu decided the fate of his people that died of starvation. When given the option of having food and relief supplies delivered through land routes, he blatantly refused and instead wanted deliveries by air through World council of Churches (an organisation surreptitiously bringing in arms for the Biafran army).
In denying to have food delivered by land routes and given the the citizens who really needed it instead of commandeering it for his soldiers, Ojukwu sealed the fate of his people to die of hunger.

Blame Awolowo for keeping away all the allocations due to the Eastern Region and handing it over to them after the war!
(where else in the world has that been done?) Vietnam? Angola, Cambodia or even Liberia?

Blame Awolowo for even offering to give a token for all the monies the Igbo people had in the bank when the records of such were already lost. And even after the Biafran government had raided all the central banks vaults it captured.
(where else in the world has that been done?) Vietnam? Angola, Cambodia or even Liberia. Oh maybe I forgot that Iraqis got some token from their government for all they lost in the banks during the war or the Afhgans?

As much as I know around the world almost every action during and after any war has been more punitive against the defeated party than reconciling

Blame Awolowo for choosing to stand in opposition to the Northern -led governments twice in the first and second republic when your people and the northerners were locked in political romance.
We still remember your people's frollicks with IBB and Abacha.
Now that the relationship has gone sour you turn around to blame Yorubas.

You will never stop complaining and blaming Awolowo cum Yorubas for your political misfortunes.

Continue, we know your stock in trade.

stev120:
Obafemi Awolowo is the undisputed hero of the Yoruba tribe of Nigeria whose wartime policy of starvation and currency change helped kill the Biafran dream. The post colonial era of Nigerian history was dominated by three actors, Nnamdi Azikiwe, Obafemi Awolowo and Ahmadu Bello. Dr Azikiwe was an avowed nationalist who preferred one Nigeria above anything else. Sir Ahmadu Bello was a tribalist who initially preferred a balkanized Nigeria to enable his people live their religious and cultural life without external negative inluence and was later reluctantly convinced to seek an agenda for a united Nigeria. Chief Obafemi Awolowo from the onset did not hide his preference for an Oduduwa Republic.
Chief Awolowo is idolized by the Yorubas because he was able to transform the South West into an educational and industrial hub in Africa and build a robust political climate. He so much understood the value of education that he made it free, affordable and offered a lot of scholarships to Yorubas to advance academically to the highest level. He ran a political system in Action Group whereby people have their say while the leader has his way. This is the system Bola Tinubu is unsuccessfully trying to emulate in Action Congress of Nigeria.
Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe, a core nationalist, never received the level of hero worship Awolowo received in the South West because Igbos severally accuses him of not taking them out of Nigeria when Chief Awolowo and Sir Ahmadu Bello were angling for a balkanized nation. Chief Awolowo was the sage whose idea ended the Nigerian civil war. He advised the Gowon Cabinet to block all food supply to Biafra so as to end the war quickly and according to him ‘’ starvation is a legitimate instrument of war’’ This led to the starvation of over one million Biafran children. Thus Awolowo’s advice and actions led to the quick end to the Biafran dream. Therefore it is right to say that what the entire armed forces of Nigeria could not do, the wisdom of Awolowo did. Chief Awolowo also ensured that every adult Biafran who managed to survive the starvation was given #20 pounds to start life afresh irrespective of amount of money in anyone’s bank account before the war started. Another policy of his which frustrated Biafra’s ability to import food and arms was the change of currency which according to Awolowo ‘’ And it is on record that Ojukwu admitted that two things defeated him in this war, that’s as at the day he left Biafra. He said one, the change of currency, he said that was the first thing that defeated him, and we did that to prevent Ojukwu taking the money which his soldiers has stolen from our Central bank for sale abroad to buy arms…So I decided to change the currency, and for your benefit, it can now be told the whole world, only Gowon knew the day before, the day before the change took place’’.
Chief Awolowo has been variously accused of introducing tribalism into the Nigerian politics. He chased Dr Azikiwe out of the Ibadan in 1954 when the NCNC headed by Azikiwe won majority seats in the West Nigerian House of Assembly and through a palace coup called cross carpeting Zik was denied the Premiership of Western Nigeria, at a time when Professor Eyo Ita, an Efik was premier of Eastern Region and Alhaji Umoru Altine , a Fulani, was Mayor of Enugu. Dr Azikiwe, following the footsteps of Awolowo, had to frustrate Professor Eyo Ita out of Enugu. Chief Awolowo and Sir Ahmadu Bello seems to have a deeper understanding of the Nigerian complexities than Dr Azikiwe.
While Awolowo never trusted the Igbos, the north never trusted Awolowo and theYorubas. The northern oligarchy instigated crisis in Western Nigeria in the same manner President Obasanjo used the Uba brothers to instigate crisis in Anambra State. This crisis led to the trumped up charges leading to the trial and imprisonment of Awolowo . Reports has it that he was to be poisoned in prison before the military coup altered the state of affairs.
Awolowo was released from Calabar prison by Biafran leader Odumegwu Ojukwu and there was an agreement that while Ojukwu declares Biafra in the East, Awolowo would declare Oduduwa Republic in the West. The British establishment, sensing the dangers of Awolowo declaring Oduduwa Republic in the West, convinced Gowon and the north to checkmate Awolowo’s secessionist agenda by appointing him the Vice Chairman of Federal Executive Council. This strategy worked effectively and Awolowo was deceived that after Gowon’s tenure he would be given the opportunity of ruling Nigeria. Awolowo thus had to checkmate the Biafran dream to clear any obstacle to his ruling Nigeria while the north was looking for the right opportunity to throw him into the dustbin. In frustration, Awo resigned from Gowon’s cabinet when he realized he has been politically duped.
Awolowo quashed the Biafran dream while the northern establishment killed the Oduduwa dream and betrayed Awolowo’s presidential ambition thrice. This fact was aptly captured by a prominent Yoruba leader and Nigeria’s former minister of aviation Chief Femi Fani-Kayode while replying to a boastful statement by another prominent northern leader, Alhaji Usman Farouk on how the north dominated the Yoruba people and conquered the Niger Delta. According to Fani Kayode, ‘’… the north literally begged Awolowo not to declare Oduduwa Republic and go the way of Biafra even though that was his original intention…Fourthly it was the support that the south west gave to the north that allowed Nigeria to win the war. Fifthly it was the lie that Gowon and the northern leaders fed to Awolowo that he would be made President of the country after the war and after being effectively being made de facto Prime Minister under Gowon during the war that got Awolowo to support them’’, invariably, the Igbos and Yorubas were effectively dribbled, divided, manipulated and overpowered.
The ascension of Awolowo’s kinsman Obasanjo as Head of State was another opportunity for him to realize his dream of ruling Nigeria. The 1979 election result was decided in the infamous judgement where the Supreme Court refused Awolowo’s plea that 2/3 of 19 is 13 states therefore declaring Alhaji Shehu Shagari the winner of the election. The north led by Generals Shehu Yaradua and Theophilus Danjuma convinced Obasanjo on why Awolowo should never be the president of Nigeria. Therefore, instead of a runoff election, which some believe could favour Awolowo, the Supreme Court declared Alhaji Shehu Shagari the winner.
Chief MKO Abiola at one point was used by the northern dominated NPN to oppose the presidential ambitions of Awolowo . He used his Nigerian Concord newspaper and enormous wealth to fight Awolowo and UPN and when they finished using him to deal with Awolowo, they frustrated Abiola’s presidential ambition and he had to resign from the party in 1982. Alhaji Umaru Dikko, then transport minister, sent message to Abiola that the presidency is not for sale to the highest bidder. When Babangida annulled the election of Abiola in 1993, Yorubas alluded to a certain curse Awolowo released on Abiola, in the heat of the later’s opposition to his presidency ‘’that even if Abiola was to be given the presidential seat, he would not sit on it.”
In 1999, after the suspicious death of Abiola, the northern establishment sensing that Chief Olu Falae was the choice of the Yoruba people, rigged the polls in favour of Obasanjo . It is obvious that the North had shown evidence of being deadly political strategists than their Yoruba and Igbo compatriots, having used the political suspicion between the duos to dribble them. Conclusively, the north is not as dumb as people assume; they used Awolowo to checkmate Biafra and then dealt with Awolowo and his ambitions.

God bless you. You stand out, uprightly so amongst the many that are being deceived and distracted today.

HottestFire:

Well my opinion is simple and let me state them here:

1. America coming to nigeria was a decoy move, they initially knew where the base will be.
2. Remember the initial postulation in 2010 that nigeria will be a failed state thereafter Bokoharam intensified their operation.
2.1. What many didn't understand then should be clearer now with what is happening in syria.
3. Another example is Libya
4. Now why Niger? What does Niger have?
4.1. Niger has vast amount of uranium, please read "Niger Uranium forgeries".
4.2. Niger currently has the world fourth largest deposit of uranium.
4.3. France nuclear power solely dependent on uranium supply from Niger.
5. Technically, the base in Niger will serve more than the purpose the @OP highlighted. It is deeper than that.

Ain't a security personnel but...an onlooker.

Do you look deeper to see beyond the guise of bringing in immigrants from war-torn Middle East Areas into Europe?

There are quite a lot of other Arab countries that could have accommodated this immigrants. Saudi Arabia and Qatar have the capacity and money to take care of all these immigrants.
I don't think it's just the Arabs that seeks to Islamize Europe. Some powerful guys are trying to reset things, events and peoples to achieve their own aim.
These are the ones whose mantra is 'Out of Chaos come Order"

America won't go anywhere except it's for selfish gains or to destroy the place.
Niger is one of the largest producers of Uranium in the world today. The French company mining these very important ores have come under attacks severally, albeit by renegade fighters who may have at one time or the other been under CIA training and use in Libya against Gaddafi.
In order to have a standby intervention force close by in the event that the French are overwhelmed and the mines don't fall into the hands of rebels who might start a black market for Uranium ores, America has made Niger a new home. But they won't stop there, they will dip their hands in the entire West and East African system and cause more evil than good.
The current face off between America and Russia is bringing back the cold war era developments again- Setting up bases and presence in different countries, not for the good of that country but to project themselves at the expense of that country

777philosopher don't fight with a pig, you'll only get dirty too.
Only a dumb person who is not conversant with events in the world around them would welcome an American base in West Africa. The American CIA is the numbet one terrorist agency in the world today. There's hardly any terrorist group including Boko Haram that wasn't formed or trained by the CIA. You can argue it all you want, but it portends danger to us if America is close by. They will interfere in our country negatively like they did in Libya and Iraq- create and sustain chaos to cut us to size and put a puppet in power, thereby increasing corruption, fomenting wars and civil unrest and subtly destroying our economy.
Shebi una think say Buhari dey work for America, una go see worse if America has direct interference in our country and West Africa at large.

There is the fear America has that a Very strong Nigeria at its best will prevent them from flexing their muscles and keeping all the other countries in Africa subjected to their whims and caprices

Foreign Affairs / EU Leaders Express Support To Madrid On Catalan Independence Referendum Issue by GuyfawkesAB(m): 6:42am On Oct 03, 2017
Several leaders of EU countries have expressed their support for Madrid's stance amid Catalan independence referendum, which took place on Sunday.

The Spanish government said that Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy held phone conversations with leaders of Estonira and France as well as heads of the European Parliament and the European Commission.

“Rajoy thanked them [leaders of EU states] for their support for the Spanish constitutional order at every moment … Rajoy pointed out that the Spanish government’s determination to prevent the illegitimate referendum is promoting the stability and democracy in the whole European Union,” the statement said on Monday.

French foreign ministry announced Monday that France supports the unity and integrity of Spain amid the dispute.

"France is committed to the unity and integrity of Spain, a friendly country, whose voice is needed on the European stage," a representative of the ministry said during a briefing.

The French ministry also added that they were confident in Spain’s democratic ability to hold a peaceful political dialogue within the constitutional law.

Italian Prime Paolo Gentiloni announced that the country was ready to assist Spain in peaceful settlement of the issue.

“We, Italians and Europeans, are viewing ourselves as big friends of Spain – and we are ready to extend a helping hand believing that is necessary to respect rules and boost the dialogue,” Gentiloni said at the Italian-Spanish forum on Monday.

He said that the European Union could make two steps: confirm the supremacy of the Spanish constitution as well promote a dialogue and search for political solutions.

"I hope that in coming days there will be a chance [to launch] the dialogue with the full respect for the law, principles of the legal state and the Spanish constitution, that it will be possible to avoid the spiral of violence and make the political solution possible," the prime minister added.

On Sunday, Catalonia held the referendum on independence from Spain. According to the Catalan authorities, a total of 90 percent of Catalonia's population voted in favor of independence from Spain.

Madrid refused to recognize the vote as legitimate and Spanish police moved in to shut down polling station, prompting clashes with protesters and voters. The Catalan Health Department said that hundreds people sought medical help after the clashes. Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy said that in Catalonia there was "no referendum" on self-determination, but assured that the government was ready to conduct a dialogue within the region.

Without meaning to sound tribalistic, this kind of issue is rampant among the igbos. I think they need to look into this issue. I have seen a lot of Igbo couples who go home to bring small girls ostensibly to train then and they end up as house girls unknown to the poor parents at home who handed their daughters to them. Most of these young girls are heavily maltreated and made to do chores beyond their ability. I have had to step in to report about three of such women to the Local government socila welfare unit in my area and they were dealt with.

If you need a maid or house help, go and get a professional or mature one. Stop going to tell lies to poor parents back home and you bring their daughters to the city with you to maltreat and subject to all kind of demeaning punishments. Let's educate our people please

One of the bane of this country is the sheer complacency and unintelligence of her youth. Rather than go and read the proposed bill, point out areas that need review (because the bill can't be wrong in it's entirety and goals), and even engage in sensible debate on what is best, you see them just opening their mouth to say thrash.
I saw a campaign online today asking for signatures to oppose the proposed bill. I asked a few of the people posting and sharing the campaign if they had read the bill or understand what it seeks to achieve, and I got a dumb NO as an answer. That is just the reflection of the average Nigerian Youth today. I don't know which is dumber, the American or Nigerian Youths?

Politics / Re: NGO Bill By Umar Jibril: Shehu Sani Vows To Fight Against Controversial Bill by GuyfawkesAB(m): 8:42pm On Sep 23, 2017
I personally think we are ripe for such a bill. NGOs and civil societies which includes Churches, Mosques and every religious organisations need some form of regulation or overseeing especially their funding and operations. A lack of this is why we see religious organisations spending lavishly and unaccountable to anyone or its books checked. So also most NGOs in this part of the world are only setup to raise funds and then spend it on other things other than their so called objectives. Most of the proceeds of crime today are easily laundered in these 'regulated' organisations in the form of tithes, donations and fundraising.
In saner climes, these group of organisations are regulated, especially when it comes to their funding and financial audit. We all know why Ashimolowo of KICC started transferring most of his wealth from UK to Nigeria. He can't personally own as much in the UK as he owns here. They are closely monitored.
Don't just jump on the bandwagon of those who just want to lend their voice to a protest they don't understand. If there is any part of the provisions of the bill we are not satisfy with, let us point them out and provide better solutions. The bill can't be 100% wrong and punitive against NGOs.

Politics / Re: Why Are Some Igbo Lagosians Are Problematic And Ignorant To Igbo Nation by GuyfawkesAB(m): 8:02am On Sep 10, 2017
I understand all that you have posited.

But I don't quite agree with you about an average Yoruba only sees the anti-Biafra Igbo as the good Igbo. That's a fallacy (of generalization). Politically from the outset in 1960 up till now, Yorubas and Igbos have always found themselves on opposing sides, (With the Igbos having a longer relationship of alliance with the Fulani/Hausa than even the Yorubas who have played more opposition than any other tribe). Besides, there is this view that at those times when the Yorubas made political attempts at the seat of power, the Igbos came in handy to the Fulani/Hausa to scuttle the process...(that's another debate for another day).
I mentioned the above because each time we hear and see Igbos pointing accusing fingers at us and blaming Yorubas for their woes, we are amazed. You had a sweet political romance with the Hausa/Fulani hegemony, times at which Yorubas were marginalized and denigrated (we took it our stride and don't blame you for our failings and loss at those times), we never made you out as the cause of our losses.

Your people have gotten the least gains of their political alliances over the years and yet you blame us. That is the core of your anger towards the Nigerian contraption. For that you are free to demand for independence, for a Biafra of your own.

Yorubas don't hate you because you are pro-biafra, what they frown at and fight is when you loop us into your blame game and hurl insults at our culture and peoples. I am most definitely sure, that Guardiola, Laporta and co have not taken the route of insulting other Spaniards or blaming them for any of their own challenges.

You want your own Country. Fine.No sane Yoruba will deny you that, I have very close Igbo friends who are seriously supporting the current Biafran movement and I can only appreciate the awakening in the land, not just of Igbos but of every other tribe that feels that this Nation is structurally and politically skewed.

Fine, you declared that we don't share anything in common. It is a good enough reason to ask to be released from Nigeria. But when you go about it the wrong route, then what you are getting now is the result.
Rather than gather constitutional Lawyers, reach out to other revolutionary-minded people in other tribes (to also create consciousness in other places so as not to isolate your movement. Like the ANC did in the Rhodesias and Namibia which brought more attention to their struggles) and strategize on how to execute this effectively, you went to town to stir and spread hatred.

What we won't accept is for you to start saying trash about us and blame us for your unsucessful sojurn in the Nigerian political space that has brought you the least gains. WE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THAT. Blame the Wayas, Mbadiwes, Okadigbos, Ekwuemes, Walter Ofonagoros, the Iwealas, Soludos, Ekweremadus... who had not make the most of your opportunities

Do I think a restructured Nigeria an work? Yes I do.
Do I thnik Igbos should get their own country if they want to? Yes I do
And so do a lot of Yorubas.

pazienza:

No.
We recognize fully that most Yorubas are anti Biafra and pro one Nigeria, and would hate you if they learn that you are pro Biafra. We see Yorubas exhibiting this hate all over the internet, from facebook to on here on NL.
The very idea of a Yoruba person of a non hateful Igbo is the Igbo that hates his own people , castigates them online and denies or make mockery of our Biafran struggle. That's the idea of a good Igbo to an average Yoruba man.
The Igbo man who holds unto our Biafra legacy and seeks for rebirth of Biafran Nation, immediately becomes labelled as a hateful person by a one Nigeria seeking Yoruba person and who would then out of hatred go on to denigrate our Biafra struggle and say many obscene things about the Igbo, prompting the Igbo to retaliate back by sending a more concentrated hatred towards the Yoruba person and his Yoruba ethnic group. Then the cunning treacherous Yoruba will return back chanting that Igbos are hateful people.

The well parented, well bred Igbo man will always be pro Biafra, and the hateful Yorubas will always hate him for that. The hate is coming from your angle, we only return your hate. Stay off our Biafra ideology and quest, stop equating a people quest for an independent nation absent of Arewa odua people for hate. It's not hate that you seek to keep a disinterested people in your failed third world country, but it's hate that the people want out of it all. The psych of the average Yoruba man is really twisted.

Guardiola, Laporta, and other Catalonians are pro Catalonia independence, I guess if Spain were Nigeria, they would be labelled hateful people.

There is nothing to forgive Arewa Oduanistanis of by Ndiigbo, the only forgiveness we have to offer you lots is total severance of any colonial national bond we share with you lots, that's the only forgiveness we have to offer, we are not same people, neither do we share same economic, political, social or cultural ideologies, we have no point of convergence with you. Borders will make us all good neighbours and defuse the built up tensions.
The Igbo don't have problems with Yorubas until we all find out that you people hate us for our ultimate desire to establish Biafra and retrieve ourselves and unborn generation from the bondage of co existence with Odua and their Arewa Muslim brothers.

Achebe died a celebrated man all around, even Times magazine elevated him as the most influential African before he died, his enemies came to pay respect to him. He was a real intellectual who stood by his people, wanted the best for them, and knew they can never get the best in a failed Third World colonial entity.
He was a visionary , a non conformist to colonial chains, African literature can never be complete without the mention of Achebe.
His last masterpiece was needed to wake the Biafra consciousness in some of us who had fallen asleep, we were forgetting who we are(Biafrans) and needed some awakening, Achebe did that for us, and he will forever remain a hero.

Achebe wasn't a freedom fighter, so it's stupid comparing him with Mandela and Luther King jnr, he was more like Diderot, who wished to change people orientation and sell his ideas using the almighty power of ink.

You are just a hater, whose hatred might consume if care is not taken.

Meanwhile, while you continue to search for the perfect Igbo man, which in Yoruba brain would mean an Igbo who would give up on our Biafran ideology and castigate fellow Igbos for supporting Biafra, while promoting a fraudulent failed colonial British estate, I think this fine piece by Okonkwo might help reformat your brains :http://saharareporters.com/2013/08/13/futile-search-good-igbo-rudolf-ogoo-okonkwo

Happy reading.

Politics / Re: Why Are Some Igbo Lagosians Are Problematic And Ignorant To Igbo Nation by GuyfawkesAB(m): 1:05am On Sep 09, 2017
Wow. I had already posted my submission to counter this post by Pazienza before I came saw this. It is clear we wrote from the same mindset that understands the challenges of our IgBo brothers. Well done sir

Olabestonic001:

You're still showing the pains I alluded to and your words are like those of deprived blacks in America; they want everyone to pity them !
First, the day all of you outgrow your mentality of Yoruba being your problem is the day you'll experience liberation. To continually think a people who never colonize you have much power on you is weird. Maybe we Yorubas are mind formers as you guys have always announced. It must be great really to be such a people.
Every other thing you wrote calls for somber reflections not angry outbursts; a characteristics Yorubas are famous for (Yoruba r'onu) but you guys seems to be bereaved of.
My parents and people have never in life told me Igbos are 'this' or 'that'. They however told me they are a bit difficult to relate with especially if things do not go their ways. And that's what all of you have ever done. Always emotional when it's not their ways. And I guess that's what your 'Igbo Lagosians' observed; a Yoruba people who are not 'blameful'- oriented but strategically inclined. No sane person will deal much with a man that's always blame all but himself.

pazienza:

Igbos are not the only people of colour in America, so the issue of Igbos banding together in America because of colour sounds irrational.
The Igbos in America and diaspora are more enlightened and exposed, they have a better balance view of how functional societies work and frameworks upon which the efficiency of those functional societies are built on and therefore are more likely to rationally dissect and realize that Nigeria as a colonial entity will never cease being a third world country, than an average Igbo lagosian who had been fed with endless one sided propaganda of the civil war by Yoruba media and friends, so much that many of them had developed a chronic form of self hate and need to be in good books of their Yoruba friends and associates.
The end result is that these confused set of Igbos see the world through a Yorubatic lens, and end up having an Igbophobic default setting that often leads to them taking an Igbophobic stand on most issues of national discuss.

IPOB have strong membership amongst diaspora Igbos in North America, Europe and Asia.

The North have no strong propaganda machine. They don't care about propaganda like Yorubas, they are not cunning too, they don't try to hide their Igbophobia like Yorubas do , the average Igbo in North is continually exposed to anti Christianity cum anti Igbo stand of the North, he sees the horror his parents told him that happened in 60s ,in the North everyday, he is constantly being forced to come to terms with the truth. This translates to them being strongly Igbophilic in outlook.

Igbos were discriminated in Lagos and Yorubaland during the war, the Igbo intellectuals in Ibadan soon found out that the place was no longer safe for them, and they had to flee home to the East , it was a moment of truth and understanding for most of them.
The Oba Lil Wayne recently threatened Ndiigbo in SW. What happens with Igbos in SW, is that their inferiority complex driven desire to be accepted as "lagosians" by Yorubas, constantly means that they must display typical Yorubatic Igbophobia towards their fellow Igbos, in futile attempt to gain acceptance. It's akin to the slave camps, where blacks appointed as slave leaders by white masters had to show more cruelty to their fellow blacks in desperate attempt to gain acceptance from white slave masters.
When you see these Lagos Igbos in the Eastern universities, they speak Yoruba amongst themselves, and speak English with irritating, ear aching Yorubatic accent with too many use of Yoruba words like "shey" "abi ", "Kilode ", "Olorunmaje ", "Ema binu " , etc yet they pretend to be irritated that you speak Igbotic English. Many of them can't speak Igbo language. They all suffer from deep seated inferiority complex.

They had all been fed with Igbophobic stories by their Yoruba friends all their lives, that they had concluded that Igbos are bad people, and when you attempt to correct them and tell them your own version of the story, they get upset and accuse you of being hateful.
They in their stupidity don't consider their Yoruba friends and society that ended up making them hate their own people by filling them with Igbophobic stories, hateful, but they consider a fellow Igbo trying to put up a defense against Yorubas Igbo hating propaganda that they had been fed with since birth , hateful. Such is the level of their mental slavery.

NB: Not all Igbos born and raised in Lagos behave this way. My best friend in my University early days was an Aro guy who was born and raised in Lagos, and he spoke flawless Igbo Izugbe, and has a perfect Igbophilic view of the world. His parents did a wonderful job.
The issue of Igbo lagosians, is an issue of poor parenting mostly and other variable factors.

I beg to differ.

Firstly, it is still evident that most of you guys still lay most of the of blame on the Yoruba people for the challenges you are having. You have refused to even consider the influence of the western media and lifestyle, NO. it is always the Yorubas that are responsible for your challenges. This is one of the greatest stumbling blocks to your finding solutions to issues.

Pazienza, you made several faulty points in this submission. You are quite an intelligent guy, but I'm afraid you are ill-informed on several issues or just simply choose to hold a skewed and jaundiced view reeking with prejudiced directed mainly at Yoruba people. You are zealous, but without knowledge and are like a fast moving train running in the wrong direction.

In citing the dominance of the media space by Yorubas as a leverage to spread propaganda to turn Igbos bred in Lagos into minds that lack the same cultural enthusiasm and identification as other igbos, you have failed to also observe that the Yorubas also have the same challenges, if not as grave as that of Igbos.
The Media doesn't propagate any propaganda detrimental to the Igbos and to the advantage of the Yorubas. those are your assumptions to justify your Hatred.

And I think the influence is mainly from western influence (Most of Lagos bred people have a cosmopolitan outlook influenced heavily by foreign adopted role models and celebrities at home that have localized those foreign trends which they readily copy) and a continuous entrenchment of colonial mentality.
Most Yorubas who are bred in Lagos can hardly speak their own dialect, hardly visit their villages and when they do, they look down on the villagers and the culture.

it is simply logical that as Lagos has a larger number of Yoruba people and the language is the most spoken, Igbos and other tribes learn and speak over time. It doesn't connote a re-education to hate your own language and tribe. No one is feeding Igbos with hatred about their tribe. Igbos in Lagos are in no way unaware of their ethnicity. Blame it on the western media and influence, Not on Yorubas.

Rather you should choose to tell your people the truth, because we have realized over time that quite a few of Igbos who arrive in Lagos from the east are mostly on a default mode of hatred for the Yorubas passed down by their parents and propagated by people like you. Yorubas don't readily hate igbos. they welcome them with open arms. But over time, the desperation, attitude and disregard some of your people have shown has formed a wrong impression on Yoruba minds. the average Yoruba exercises caution when dealing with igbos, but it doesn't mean they hate Igbos. We are only cautious based on what some bad ones have done.

As regards Chinua Achebe, I hope providence and God forgives him for the evil legacy he bequeathed his people before he died. Rather than point his people towards peace, tell them to love, forgive and embrace others, he gave them a manual to grow their hatred and wound themselves further (For it is the one who is embittered by hatred that suffers the pains). Never will he be remembered and mentioned like they would Nelson Mandela, Ghandi and Dr. King Jr. because those ones preached reconciliation, forgiveness and peace to their peoples as they sought to awaken their consciousness about their plight and identity.

Rather than growing on hatred, You can learn a lot from Yorubas. We don't blame others for our woes. Whenever critical issues arise and give cause for concern, Hubert Ogunde's song 'Yoruba R'onu' (Yoruba, Think) is easily invoked to engage ourselves and look within to fix our problems.

I can't remember when Yorubas lost on both sides in the politcal landscape of Nigeria. They choose either to play a significant role in the government in power or they are the opposition. they are not AGIP

nero2face:
YORUBAS... always trying to play inbetween lines, they did it b4, they'll never show where they belong, always trying to be in support of both sides, such people always loose from both sides at De End...

Travel / Re: Lagos "Least Liveable" Ranking Hard To Believe –foreign Residents In Nigeria by GuyfawkesAB(m): 8:21pm On Aug 27, 2017
We are quick to swallow any report from foreign organisations including the UN because it's from 'Oyibo' people. Some people just sit in their offices in London or New York and begin to manipulate data to suit their propaganda. Don't believe their bullshit.

Yes Lagos is a tough and hard place to live in, but not as worse as putting us at the bottom of the table. Where is war-torn Kabul, Tripoli or Damascus? Or Chicago where more people are killed monthly than in Iraq or Afghanistan? Or is it only amenities that makes a place liveable and not security too?

Believe everything the western media and organisations give you at your own risk. They are experts at making others look really bad while hiding their own. They simply know the power of propaganda and misinformation and use it effectively
