mrvitalis: Greed of the south west is just too much ,they keel selling igbos are hated ,igbos are hated just for there own selfish gain This is so true! I think true federalism is the way forward for us as a nation, and if that is unachievable, let's go our seperate ways. Again, at this point, southern unity is dependent on how the SW plays the game. They have to learn to trust, and shun this igbophobia, so we can move forward as a people. Let's have a round table discussion, and come up with a credible fellow from the east. We have been held back for too long by these never-do-well cabals up north. |

Igbo6: You are savant my brother, thank God people like you exist. The northern fools thinks they are smart but come 2023 fire will born if they don't change this their devilish mentality of putting the north first before Nigeria. They think they have the population let's watch and see. I only blame most nairalanders who only wail and criticizes their own. The South should unite so that all this pigs would realize that they are nothing but dustbin. I wish the south would unite and push for one thing: an igbo presidency. If that ever happens, the support will be overwhelming, and power will be wrestled from the north for good, and we can then take it a step further by overhauling the entire system, and entrenching true federalism. But the question begging for answer is this: can there ever be a united south? Greed & distrust amongst the major players here in the south will be the major stumbling block. All in all, at this point in our history as a nation, I think whether there will be a sothern unity is up to the SW. |

mrvitalis: Igbo man cant be president without pushing for resource control and restructuring ....thats the fear of the north
An igbo man can rule for 8 years without opening up warri ,port harcourt and calabar ports ...that's the fear of yorubas ....plus igbo might want to rule lagos Hmmm! Very intelligent summation, my dear brother. I never thought about this, but I think you are absolutely correct! So, it's all in the hands of the SW to take a leap of faith by aligning with the rest of the south, so that with a common front, we can overrun the north, and then entrench true federalism or a complete but peaceful dissolution of this mess. But can there ever be a united south? That's something I think might be inconceivable, and is what has emboldened the north to keep rubbing this shit on our faces. Sad, my brother! it's sad! |

It will be a disaster if the North, by virtue of Southern dis-Unity clinches power. Very sad indeed! And except something extraordinary happens, our worst fear might just come to be: another northern cabal puppet will emerge. regretably, I do not even see us uniting in the south...it's just too complicated a matter. greypencils: Simple question, is there anything wrong in having a united south? And having every person in the south queuing up to vote such a person? We southerners have wailed for so long at the fact that the North keeps drawing us back. I personally want an Igbo president in the likes of Chukwuma Soludo, Peter Obi, Kingsley Moghalu or Tony Elumelu. That is what is fair and what is needed if Nigeria is to be in peace and harmony. The south-west and south-south has had its chance. Nigeria has been battered on all sides with all sorts of maleficence. Let us bring back peace, unity and harmony to this country by being fair, being human and being humane. 2023 should belong to the Igbos. I am a Yoruba man and I am wholeheartedly routing for an Igbo presidency come 2023. God bless you, bro! A united southern Nigeria is the way to go. I keep asking: how long will the north continue to play us like a game of chess? 4 years ago, they came up with APC and wooed the Yorubas with the office of the VP. The south east stood aloof 'cos they feel the Yorubas are their enemies. 2023 will soon be here, and, PDP, in a bid to woo the South East, are also willing to bribe them with the office of the VP. Of which, the majority of the South West, for whatever reasons, don't see eye to eye with the PDP. Question is, who wins in the end: the north! These guys have mastered the art of jamming our heads together in the south, yet we fail to see these things. A united southern Nigeria will put an end to this shit once and for all, and the only way to achieve that is what you proffered: a credible igbo candidate. And once he gets there, he should overhaul the entire system, and entrench true federalism, or alternatively, dissolve the country peacefully. |

Only a united south can defeat the north ... South west has ruled 8 years been president 8 years South south 6 years president 2 years vice
Zonning agreement points to then igbos but out of greed south west want to come n contest not knowing the real fight is against fulani domination and south west contesting means north can too
South west pick an igbo man u are comfortable with let the whole south unite for once push fulanis back thats the only way Exactly my thought...God bless you sir! This is the golden opportunity we have to free this nation from the clutches of the Fulani hegemony. If the west jettisons her inordinate greed for power, and decides to team up with the rest of southern Nigeria, we'll run these guys(fulanis) out. And then when we take a hold of power, we entrench true federalism, or an outright peaceful dissolution of the country. Shekinah! |

The north is at it again: playing southern Nigeria like chess. We're hemmed in, yet again! Another northerner to emerge as president for only God knows how long. And when a sensible person, who is not affiliated to these monsters, decides to contest, they employ their rigging machineries to do the dirty work as usual. Is this how we're gonna continue in this thing we call our country? Some have even come out to say the PDP should field a better candidate. I laugh in fulfude. Don't y'all realise that whoever they'll field will still push for the same Fulani agenda? Truth be told: we're all slaves to these guys up north. If things go on this way, they'll continue to dictate the destiny of this nation, and we've seen what a mess they have made of it since independence. Sometimes, I am tempted to say we are all mad, here in the south, for not uniting and seeing our enemies for who they truly are. The Yoruba man sees the Igbo as his enemy, and vice versa. But the truth is that the North is the real enemy! The earlier we unite, and push for a true federalism, or outright seperation, the better for all of us. That is the only way out of this madness. |

MAYOWAAK: The government has shown the utmost restraint in dealing with this diplomatic impasse with South Africa
You don't have to like the government or those in power
All you need is a little knowledge of how international relations work
Contrary to the desire by some that Nigeria should have attacked South Africa with all guns blazing
It just doesn't work that way with international protocols and conventions.
Especially if you're dealing with a country of equal or near-equal standing in the international community
Nigeria and South Africa are equal in economic, military and political influence in international circles.
In bilateral trade, the balance of trade differentials tilt in our favour.
In 2018, Nigeria’s imports from South Africa amounted to just $514.3 Million while South Africa’s imports from Nigeria were $3.83 Billion. (Source: UN COMTRADE data)
In layman terms, this means that we make more money from trading with South Africa than they do with us so we need to thread gently and not jeopardize an economy already gasping for breath by taking rash decisions.
All of these factors matter a lot in international relations between nation states.
So you don't expect Nigeria to approach (not even invade) South Africa the way we would do to Togo for example.
Because, despite the theoretical equality of all sovereign nations, some are more equal than others.
Even America didn't rush to invade China the last time they had a trade war
And they've kept Russia at arms-length all these while
Only fighting one another by proxy.
You must exhaust all diplomatic channels in a case like this.
You can recall your Ambassador
You can cancel bilateral agreements
You can suspend direct relations e.g issuance of Visa
You can exert pressure on your allies to boycott the other country
If you have the clout, you can even get the super powers to look the other way while you pursue aggressive actions against the other country
But you must, always, get international opinion on your side
Except if you're USA or you're a maverick leader like Vladmir Putin.
So, your social media influencer wearing coat and speaking big grammar
Is just misleading you by saying the government should have done xyz.
We simply DO NOT have that leverage against South Africa.
Tell him I said he's an olodo rabata.
International laws and conventions don't work like that
Not especially for a third world country like ours.
Let's hope saner heads will prevail and we can quickly work things out with South Africa
Because both countries really need one another to provide leadership for Africa. Great write up! Educate 'em...very crucial! |

But truth be told, we are only seeing a tip of the ice berg of what is to come: this thing transcends "xeno-whatever" .The buck stops right in front of the government. As long as there continues to be a yawning gap between the haves & have nots, things like this will continue to play out when the chips are down. We have serious trouble on our hands. The hunger is just too much! The earlier things change for the better for the populace, the better for all of us. A rich man in the midst of poor people, is effectively poor. Look up history, and you'd see that there's been similar uprisings in South America in which the poor masses angrily descended on the rich who weren't a part of the ruling class. Pojomojo: What happened in Lagos yesterday is an indication of what’s to come, it has nothing to do with Xenophobia or South Africans but a glimpse of what the middle class should expect from poor Nigerians who are waiting for a reason & an excuse to strike.
These people have constantly strolled into the malls year over year, too poor to shop & no hopes of a better tomorrow, sees other people with chubby looking kids rolling shop carts & loading groceries into their cars. They want these things too.
Engage poor Nigerians ones. You will see that undertone of “In this tough country, these people are living large and buying cars, they are thieves”. The middle class is the closest to Nigeria’s lower class. They will be the first target. This thing is here already. Just recently, I noticed my estate introduced armed mobile police personal to join the current one. The need to have this things is a signal that we have a failed society already. These people will not be able to save us. You’d be surprised they’d join in.
We are sitting on a nuke. Poor Nigerians are angry and they are not that angry at their government. They are angry at you because: 1. You drive a nice car 2. You travel for summer 3. You shop at Shoprite 4. Your kids, chubby. 5. You live in a fine house.
In this economy, how? If you lived through the riots of the mid 90s, you’d understand this is not new. The middle class is always at the receiving end. The people believe Nigerian can never be better, so they want those shiny things you have. At least that would give them some satisfactions.
If Nigeria ever gets a Revolution (which I pray we don’t get). It’s going to be the poor versus the seemingly rich. You don’t have to be rich to be a target. You just have to enjoy what others don’t enjoy. Scary times ahead.
God bless you people. Enjoy your morning(hopefully)
Adewunmi Ogunsanya owns Multichoice Nigeria and the assets belong to him and his associates. Tayo Amusan owns Palms shopping mall. Shoprite is just a tenant. A lot of SA companies here are franchises owned by Nigerians.

Its high time we tell ourselves the truth:the economic imbalance cum the gap between the haves & have nots is just too much, and it's only a matter of time before there will be a revolt. How widespread the revolt turns out to be is what scares me. I do know one thing though, if the uprising is well coordinated, Nigeria will cease to be. God help us! |

brightokechukwu: You mean the same Ore where Biafran troops showed the Yoruba troops under Captain Ilumoyade pepper until they ran with their tails between their legs and ended up blowing up bridges to prevent Biafran soldiers from advancing beyond Ore, Ofusu, Okitipupa and other areas that were captured? thank God for research, we would have been pelted with the half truths and ogogoro induced tales passed on to you ignorant mo.rons from your parents during their bouts of stupor. The only reason Biafrans withdrew from Ore(which they had captured intact by the way), was because a certain Victor Banjo whom Ojukwu was naive enough to trust with a command and mission of such critical level in capturing Lagos... ended up sabotaging the whole operation and ordered a full on retreat back to Benin... giving the Nigerian second infantry division under Colonel Murtala enough time and momentum to advance unchallenged all the way to Benin (pick up a damn book and read).
Adekunle was an overrated midget lunatic with napoleonic syndrome, even Alabi Isama a Nigerian officer who participated in the War confirmed in his book how Adekunle's inefficiency not only cost the 3 marine commando division incalculable losses in men and materials and grounds to the Biafran onslaught, but also highlighted how Adekunle's command relied heavily on the minority groups in Biafra to score military victories in the non-Igbo areas where the people were mostly sympathetic to the Federal cause. Until Adekunle ventured into Igbo heartland (inflated by his false sense of invincibility), the idiot thought his tactics of sneaking through secret routes and areas with the help of natives in the minority areas would work in Igboland, until he was unmasked as the fraud that he was after he failed woefully in his operation OAU plan, with tens of thousands of men lost in just few days of fighting.
Obasanjo only came into the limelight rather fortuitously, he came on the oasis of sheer opportunity, by then the Biafran resistance was weak after years of fighting with little or nothing, and of course under the gnawing effects of starvation that was by now taking its toll. Obasanjo still couldn't capture many Igbo areas till the last day of January 10,1960 when Biafran soldiers could not fight anymore and dropped their few weapons in noble surrender.
Lol Ojukwu ran away dressed in female regalia (I can only laugh at the inanity of that recycled nonsense cause Nigerian history unfortunately isn't taught as a curriculum in Nigerian institutions, so I'll just overlook that ignorance )... But no dummy, all accounts written by credible individuals who were with Ojukwu on his last flight from Uli Airport to Ivory Coast confirmed he was resplendently decked out in his full Generals Biafran military regalia, and earned his final salutes from his officers, aides and men as he boarded the plane in the final days of Biafra... READ READ READ, knowledge is fundamental. Don't infect your children and the generation after them with ignorance by serenading them with idiotic tales conjured from your aSS.
LEARN YOUR HISTORY BOY. The only ethnic group that actually fought Biafrans hard were the Middle belt soldiers, especially the Tivs. The Yoruba soldiers save for few brilliant officers like Akinrinade, Ayo Ariyo, and Alabi Isama, were easily the most useless set of soldiers to face Biafrans... that's why they suffered the most casualties/losses out of the ethnic groups that fought against Biafrans. C'mon man, you gave it real good to @LegendHero. You completely took the son of a b.itch to the cleaners. His inferiority complex is the reason he chose such a nickname on the forum. The useless ragamuffin is here trying to take the glory for a war the western world fought for his fathers so as to enslave them perpetually. When you hear him bragging about how defenseless children & women were killed during the war, you would think his spineless father had the balls to join in the war. He needs to get a life. I like the way you schooled him on how it went down during the civil war. He can't contest the points you made nor your intellectual might, hence he'll now resort to insults as a way of escape. It's the hallmark of bone heads like him - Intellectual slackeys with an IQ below that of an Orangutan. Somebody rightly said the idiot is a member of MC Oluomo's "agbero" cabinet. Lolzzz! War, they cannot fight. "Ngwanu" read book naa, for where! Instead they go about regurgitating made up narratives to make themselves feel good. I have no doubt that the whites have people like them in mind when they made that famous quote: "if you want to hide something from a black man, put it in a book." But like they say, the Truth needs no validation: it's there staring us all in the face. The entire country, including his people, knows those who come to mind when you talk about cowardice, betrayal, hypocrisy, witchcraft, lies, ritualist, skull mining, cyber fraud etc. I would have quoted IBB and some other persons to buttress this point, but no need: @LegendHero is a clear example for all to see. revolt: what shocks me is the level of ignorance amongst our youths who are only interested in yahoo stories. They've never stopped to ask themselves why the west was unanimously opposed to a biafra cause(except France that was just trying to undermine the common wealths influence partially). They dont realise biafra was the only negroid nation that fabricated weapons of war, this deeply scared the west as they couldn't risk another korea, china, india, springing up in africa. The same reason they preferred to hand over power to the north after they'd realised the south was too enlightened for them. Once a nation becomes independent in its arms solutions, it becomes more difficult to corce them for foreign interests... as at 2012 North Korea was demonised and threats by the U.S had tripled until he started showing them he had developed nuclear weapons that he detonated distances far enough to show he could attack the west. Fast forward to 2019....trump is shaking hands with him and calling him a brilliant leader. Soon they'll be invited to joiin the un security council... that's how you fight racism not by writing epistles and asking for rights from the white man. You earn it. If only these youths knew the amount of money the west makes from selling arms in africa...once a nation starts building their arms and solving their problems independently it becomes harder to manipulate and coercise them to make decisions that aids foreign western interests. From fabrication of arms comes fabrication of domestic needs etc. The west knew this and killed biafra. Biafra was the golden opportunity for the black man to prove to the world he wasnt that black savage, sex loving polygamist that cannot build a civilization. Excellent piece, my dear friend! I give it to you, you are one of the few people on Nairaland with a good head on their shoulders. Was there a single Igbo man on the list? Wasn't it all Yorubas? Is that to say Igbos, or other tribes don't do drugs? I bet you know better! In the same vein, just because there was only one Yoruba among the 80 does not mean there aren't yorubas, or Hausa, efik, Edo etc. cyber fraud syndicates. Now that the EFCC is under so much heat to perform, just watch as these different gangs and their nefarious activities will be brought to light. For you to come out and start yapping like a rabbies-infested puppy only goes to show how intellectually inept you are! Haba! How dumb can you get and still breathe? You better get some education, and jettison those tribal sentiments before it's too late! |

Biety: Now we are also expecting EFCC to arrest suspects from the tribe that constitute 90% of the FBI crime list. What re-tarded slowpokes like you can't wrap your small minds around is that those 80 igbo guys that were arrested were members of a syndicate. And the FBI was able to track them easily because Invictus obi chose to sing so as to get a lighter sentence. Commentor: Africa is truly filled with backward thinking individuals.
There is absolutely nowhere in the world where you would get into a vehicle without actually undergoing rigorous training without which motor accidents . Failing to do so is surely a recipe for disaster.
With over 10 years of driving in Nigeria, I still undertook driving lessons in the UK which must have taken me roughly 50 hours put together.
Yet I failed the test twice before passing at third attempt.
Roads have well placed signage and markings, cycle lanes, lighting are there for all to see.
Speed limits are well known and failure to adhere can only result in severe consequences.
The number of incidents recorded by Dangote trucks may be attributed to the sheer number of Dangite-owned trucks that are actually on the road.
Nigerians should stop looking for spirituality in a physical world.
Little wonder we hardly make ground breaking discoveries.
Primitive minded simpletons abound. You were making sense, until you dropped this comment,"..Nigerians should stop looking for spirituality in a physical world." I thought you would know better, but alas, no. My guy, I put it to you that you are the real simpleton here. |

MURIC needs to do the needful and apologize to Gov. Nyesom Wike for penning down insult in the name of protest. With all the effort they put into writing such a veeery long letter, one would think that they took their time to actually confirmed the news of the said demolition. Penny wise, po7nd foolish bunch! It goes to show that they stay true to who they are: trouble formentors! |
