Life is so complicated!
Sometimes I don't even get it.Look at it this way:God created apples for eating. But insatiable humans had to squash the apple to get the pulp for apple pies, etc. and extract the juice in big machines and add lots and lots of health hazards, just so we can have drinks like 5 Alive and Lacasera.
That's not the complicated part.
It's when they give us tests in class asking us to explain the processes involved that really irks.
I mean,who does that?
Sigh.
All I wanna write is that the apple-in whatever form-gets into the stomach of man.

Again I wan..
Oh!Hi there.
You may be reading this and wondering who could be writing this.
Well..
I'm Martin. Sixteen. Nigerian. 174cm tall.
And believe me I have my share of problems.UNfair share of problems.
And now you're trespassing..
Don't you know it's impolite to read someone's diary?
Wait..
On second thought, maybe I should let you have a 'little' peek.
Then maybe you'd understand when I say life is tough.
So there you pretty much have it.I've given you my description.I guess you could even picture me in your mind.

NB:I'm fair-skinned.So don't picture me as a young version of Tunde Baiyewu.

***

Today I begin a new term of a new session in a new class in a new school in a new neighbourhood in a new..
Ok.OK.You get it right?
My family moved from our old neighbourhood in Shasha to the state capital,Ikeja(Yeah..Lagos State).
I guess you're probably wondering why we left that old neighbourhood. That's a tale for another day.
Dad drove us to school:me,the firstborn;my sister Martha, the middle child and Marvel(Haha.. If you read Spiderman or Incredible Hawk comics I know you're probably laughing right now).
I'm in my final year of High School(Senior High).
Martha's two classes below me.She's fourteen.
And Marvel's is in his last year of Junior High. He's eleven.
NB:Nigeria uses the 6-3-3-4 educational system.
I'd read a lot about Bedford High School and once,in my old school,we were opponents in a debate. But I never imagined it was this..BIG.
I don't wanna bore you with architectural descriptions and stuff, but it was bigger than most of the other private secondary schools in that area.
In structure. In population.
Sigh.
I still miss Lord Lugard(Gotcha! Hehe..my old school was Lord Lugard Memorial High).

I had eight classes today.Forty minutes alotted to each subject with a break period for lunch after the fourth class and before the fifth.
English was fun.I'd always aced English all my educational career.A burly boy slept through English, snoring annoyingly. Our classmates had a blast painting moustaches and a weird beard on his face.
The skinny girl who sits in front painted rabbit incisors on his lips.
We all laughed when the boy was roused suddenly by the teacher's question on gerunds. He sat upright suddenly. His tongue still out, plus the rabbit grafitti joined to make the semblance of a bunny munching a carrot!
(I'm still laughing now at the memory).
Physics was great too..
Had a pretty funny teacher,Mr D and even the snoozing boy stayed awake throughout.
I made a new friend,my seatmate.A dude called Joseph. He seems intelligent and we exchanged contacts.
Uhm..there was this girl too.An obvious coquette.Good-looking though. I ignored her.
I don't have time for girls.
Weird right?A teen's supposed to have raging hormones. But I believe God gave us self-control for our own good.
So don't be surprised that I'm a virgin and vowing to stay one till I get married,if that ever happens.

Mom picked us up from school. She works in the Fertility Clinic at Lagoon Hospitals.A nurse and partial housewife. We love her loads.
Spent the rest of the day reading Ebooks and Paperbacks.
I downloaded the entire Sherlock Holmes collection from UC Forum.
I like murder mysteries.I prefer to solve them as I read not just wait till the end of the novel to know who did the crime.
Martha and Marvel watched Nickelodeon and Zee World.
Mom complained at dinnertime about my reticence. She just doesn't get it.
She tried making small talk but I only nodded in response.
Mom doesn't know that I'd noticed that there was a fast-growing rift between her and dad.
It's amazing that parents never expect or anticipate how smart their kids can get.Yet they pray for smart kids.

Whatever.

Joe called.

It is just unfortunate that we have no one to save us from them. The main idea behind using that minimum amount is to keep all the royalties when an author inevitably gives up (how many writers can consistently publish for 2 years just to earn #10,000).

Just check the works of some talented Nairalanders on Okadabooks. Brilliant stories that should generate no less than a 200k in an ideal situation are struggling to make #2,000. As if it isn't enough , the authors get frustrated and leave without a kobo while Okadabooks keeps 100% of your profits.

This was exactly why I created starlybooks.com
It's launching in April 2022.
It's 100% free. No commission. And it has a global reach.

This story is all a fiction. Name of characters and their actions are all imagined.

This story is dedicated to the Lord.

CHAPTER ONE

I would start my story by going down the memory lane. Years ago, I was a cool and reserved one that had not known a female until I was eighteen. Growing up was strict for me, until late teenage years. Dad refused to marry after mum left for another man that ended in a messy divorce. I didn't really fit as a regular guy, even till late teen age. Somehow, I was pretty sure I was on the verge of very dark things.

I was mostly familiar with members of my paternal family. This left me to roam at the family get together and mostly hang out in the corner listening to music and trying to get through so I could move on to more fun things until the next family event.

I had just got admission into the university at Ado-Ekiti to read Accounting. On one of these visits I had rented some movies and was hanging out at my aunt’s house to watch them while Popsie was off working. The only free TV was my cousin Elizabeth’s bedroom tv, she was off at her friend’s house for the day so I plopped down on her bed and spent the afternoon watching movies. She came home later that evening and we decided to go walking for a while until dinner time. This was the start of finally having someone to hang out with in that family.

I would fast forward the actions to a few years back and every visit included hanging out with my cousin Elizabeth. Most visits had me spending nights at my Grand-parent’s house at Akure, Elizabeth would come over as soon as I was around and we would own the living room, spending nights on the pull-out couch eating meat-pie and sipping fruit juice of every kind and staying up until all hours. We would tell each other about our lives while the other one was away, communication through letters occasionally (this was the era before email or even computers being common).

When Popsie moved out of Ondo state, I saw my cousin a lot less often. However, she now became my travel partner. Several times a year we would travel from Akure to Ibadan where Popsie now lived. This led to many great adventures to other places and many great destinations. We continued to grow to be the best of friends.

As the years continued from us being into blossoming teens approaching adolescence, I could not but notice the changes in Elizabeth. Intuitively, I was taking a liking to the female form and I noticed as we were laying in the bed we shared, Elizabeth had gained breasts and her form was gaining curves. Still we were inseparable. After secondary school, she too gained admission at the university of Ibadan.

We remained close. There was no topic under the sun we could not discuss. That was all it took.

for the first time i'll be leaving home to stay under a roof separtely from the one that house my parent, far away from the dungeon home of ours where i'm not allow to go anywhere apart from school and church. a place where my nearest neighbors are the strangest people on earth, i don't get to know how they look like. the only reason why i leave home daily was going to church activities almost every evening; i can't visit friends and it cost me all my friends but my parent never care. a home where i can't socialize like my peers, my only companions are my phone and my parent with their boring movies(village movie for ma and wrestley for pa) i barely have opportunity to watch my lovely football matches neither am i allowed to go and watch outside.

a place where despite many pleas from uncles and aunts in previous times for me to spend christmas with them am never allow to leave. the home which i doubt if i can call my home; liberty is unseen, unfelt, unknown and denied.

Love is a wonderful experience. For Prince, he is ready to go for what he desires and loves to have. Even if the society considers it to be a taboo.

It is said that I was a special child. I guess it was true. Certainly my upbringing was unusually open and my erotic evolution broad-minded.

I'm sure that many will say that the way I grew up was wrong; that my step Mom was wrong in her outlook, her view of life, and her guidance of me as a child. I myself would say none of those things. I look back on a rich and varied education and development. Every aspect of my young life seemed to guide me in the direction of being a useful, thoughtful, feeling adult.

Still, I was aware even at an early age that it was different from other children. Somehow I knew that it was something to be protected, perhaps even sheltered from the eyes of others. I have no idea why that should be, since nothing was ever said about it, I just knew.

My father died when I was nine years old. Most of us grow up thinking our step Moms are nearly perfect; so it was with me. She was intelligent and beautiful and perfect. After my father died, there were lots of tears and I was lonely.

But, after a time, my step Mom's resolve and intelligence took over and we became an avowed "team" dedicated to making each other's lives happy and rich with art, sport, play, everything that made life a pleasure.

She loved the opera and the ballet. I came to love them too, and it seemed natural to be taken to each performance with her. The lights, the people, the music enthralled me, even then. I took piano lessons, but they didn't seem to take with me. On the other hand, step Mom seemed to love the things I loved as well. She hardly ever missed a baseball game or tennis match, and encouraged me in all outdoor activities.

I sensed that she really missed Dad and it became natural for me to watch for the signs and try to behave a little better when I saw them. I felt especially tender toward her when I saw the sadness creep over her from time to time.

She had a very good job as an executive assistant to the Chief Executive Officer of one of the larger companies in Lagos and it appears that she was very good at the job. Smart and willing to do whatever had to be done, logical and protective of the Chief Executive Officer and of the company's interests.

I'm sure you have known the sort of person who succeeds in that world. That was my step Mom. Always immaculately and stylishly dressed, she went off to work each day and returned at night, usually with work to be done at home.

She always wore a business suit or tailored dress to work, never pant suits like I saw other moms wearing. Everything about her was feminine, the perfume, the swishing sound of her nylons as she walked or crossed her legs, the lovely drape of the white silk blouse.

She seemed to know something about everything. If she didn't know, she was willing to do the research to help me find the answer. Her guidance over the years made me more and more eager for knowledge and for variety. We learned about astronomy, photography, sailing, painting, hiking and even a little bit of fishing, though she didn't much like worms and other squirming things.

She dated occasionally but none of them ever really caught on as a regular thing. Perhaps she never really got over her first love, my father. I don't think I stood in the way of her romance, at least I hope not.

But as it turned out, she never re-married. On the other hand, she had many friends and had an active social life, mostly centered around the arts. And she was a wonderful grandstep Mom to my two children.

Literature / Re: Chronicles Of A Pastor That Ordained Himself by guyXander(m): 8:12am On Jan 30, 2022
dodoatiricetwo:
My name is James, James Olorunoje. I grew up in a christain home where parents were believers to the core and dedicated their whole time and existence to the church of God.

My Father in particular, was compensated with being the church treasurer because he stood and believed in the faith, and in the mission of the Lord. That no matter what happened, He refused to use or tamper with God’s money. My parents both sank into the church and through and down the years, i grew into the church myself. At twelve i had read and completed the bible and i was like a bible dictionary myself. Just like my parents, i sank into the church with them but mine was on a different level. People looked at me and called me “junior pastor” because they saw the light in me. Through the sessions i held when the pastor was at a different mission, the church felt yes I’d get Gods call someday sooner. At 15, the church had trusted me completely and and i ministered not as a pastor though.I didn’t speak in tongues, I didn’t shout into the microphone, I didn’t ask the church to remain on their feet unnecessarily, I didn’t ask them to tell their neighbors this or that. I didn’t ask them to hold hands like you know what your enemy was in the church. My style was modern. I spoke with so much swagger and charisma and the church loved my style.
Then the jealousy set in behind the scenes and i was voted out of preaching on the altar for not having the anointing and could not possibly lead the church in God’s own direction.

Then reality hit me, then the General over seer of the one dimensional church and his flock of other pastors frozed me out entirely and made sure i was put in an usher role. They said i had to climb the ladder and wait fo the anointing or God’s call.

Prologue

He slipped another cloret mint gum into his mouth to refresh his breath as he looked down to the beautiful bouquet of daisies in his hand. Today was the day he was willing to damn the consequences, wear his grown man pants and confess his undying love for her. She was the very beautiful and elegant Nonye, his childhood friend and sweetheart.
They'd been friends since forever together with Dayo. The three had been inseparable since they were still shitting their diapers.
Today he was finally acting on Dayo's advice to come clean about his feelings for Nonye or watch someone else snatch her up.
Finally, getting to the Dept of Mass Communication -where Nonye majored in- he went to the hall where she had said they'd be having lectures in but saw that it was empty. He looked at his wristwatch and saw that he was late and the lecture had already ended but then he figured she'd be in the school's radio studio where she did shifts. On getting there he heard her voice and smiled that his guess wasn't wrong but at the same time he was really nervous. Due to the anxiety he decided to wait and get himself together before entering and that was when he heard it.

"Um D, there's something I'd like to tell you", he heard Nonye say to Dayo. She always liked to call him D. He wondered what Dayo was doing there but figured maybe he was just waiting for her to finish up as the three of them usually waited for each other to finish up so as to have lunch together or leave together.

"Sure, shoot", Dayo permitted.

"Uhmm..I..", she began nervously.

" I.. I-I really like you D and I don't mean as a friend. I've been feeling like this for quite sometime now and I just had to let it out before it suffocates me. I..I don't know if you feel the same way?", he heard her say and his heart sank. There was a pause and he didn't know what was happening cus he had his back against the wall just beside the entrance to the studio. Somehow he was assured cus there's no way that Dayo knowing how he felt would say yes to her or so he thought.

"Wow…I…um..Nonye this is all so sudden and I…-", Dayo began before She cut him off.

"It's Ok D, you don't have to answer me now. Just give it time, I can wait", Nonye said and the last shred of flesh his heart was hanging on cut and his heart fell.

"No..no Nonye, I do actually. I feel the same way but.."

"Then nothing else matters D. You have feelings for me and I, you so let's give us a chance, yeah"?,Nonye jumped in and just like that he heard the kissing sounds and the flowers dropped from his shaky hands.…………..

Meet Dayo Michaels, the complete all rounder. Handsome, intelligent, caring and athletic stud. He's the son of Senator dad and his mum is a professor of economics.

Now here is Chinonyerem Felicity Orji. Fondly called Nonye by all, she's the definition of a beauty goddess. She's literally turned heads everytime she walked into the room and add brains to the face then you've got the complete package. She's also quite witty and isn't afraid to go for what she wants. She's the heir to top notch press company. Newspapers, tabloids, TV stations, you name it, NFO Media had it all.

Then there's the last of the trio, Kachi Kalu popularly called KK. Handsome, introverted, intelligent and not as popular as his friends due to his status as bastard and the fact that he's not from a rich home like the others and yes you guessed correctly, that's me….the flower boy.

Haven't yet gotten a permanent name so I'd just add this one to one of my "Un" series…….lets call it "Unrequited" for now…….Coming soon .

For Tife, he must have the best of what he can have from relationship with the opposite sex. His unexpected move up the ladder of life gives him ample chance to be licentious. To him, it does not matter if the relationship is what the society frowns upon and regards as a taboo.
In his unending escapade, danger looms ahead.

CAUTION: THIS STORY HAS EXPLICIT SEX SCENES

I and my partner went to a table close to the window. The ‘Mama Good’ restaurant was busy at this hour of the day. Many customers were munching, chewing, sipping, drinking, licking, or just chatting. It was a cozy place I liked to frequent.

'Fried rice and chicken?' It was easy for me to decide what to eat. Zaynab always asked for that. I smiled at her face as I awaited her response.

Zaynab nodded and smiled back. She winked in characteristic manner. I sighed and went to join the short queue. I stood behind a voluptuous but pretty lady who smiled at me hopefully. I smiled back and turned to cast my glance at the direction where Zaynab was seated. The smile went off the chubby lady as she got the message.

My gaze shifted to the flat screen t.v. A musical video was playing on it. He only looked at the screen briefly. The line moved fast. It was my turn to be attended to. The fair sales girl smiled at me perfunctorily. I gave her the order. In a jiffy, the hot, spicy and tantalizing meal was brought. I paid for it and took the tray to the table where Zaynab was waiting.
I sat down beside her, looking excited.

She looked excited too. 'Hmn, this surely looks delicious. I can't wait to eat it,' she said.

'Well, let’s go ahead.'

She closed her eyes to make a short prayer and we soon started to eat. We sipped our orange juice intermittently. The only sound was from the television and our mouths.

I had met her about six months ago. she was an IT student at the newspaper where I worked. she was posted to my news desk and I had not wasted time in making my amorous intention known to her. Though I was married with two children, at forty-one, I still had a lot of zest about life and my career. To me, Zaynab was one of the side attractions I needed to 'enjoy' life. Zaynab did not mind my marital status. I was good-looking and knew how to treat a lady right. That was all that mattered.

I munched my chicken rather in satisfaction. It would be a big understatement to say that the food was not bad. I and Zaynab were truly contended after the delicious meal.

'Did you enjoy the meal?' I asked. It was an unnecessary question but I still felt like asking it.

Zaynab nodded. 'Sure, I did. I look forward to coming here another time.'

I nodded too and squeezed her hand. We left the place to another one where we would consummate our passion. The Floral Hotel was a small, insignificant hotel not far away, but it served my lustful purpose. I had taken Zaynab and many of my babes there before. In a matter of minutes, we were in the room rented to have a short time together.
‘Must we come here to do this?’ Zaynab asked rhetorically. I grinned. If I must treat her nicely, then we must come here to do this, I thought.
‘Must humans live to satisfy their needs?’ I parried.

over the years I was thought to believed getting money is the real deal that's why I learnt barbing when I was still in secondary school jss2 precisely.

after I closed from school I eat and go to my OGa shop at the end of our street and stay till 10pm especially on Saturday I be given 2h or 3h from my OGa.. offcus you know that makes me happy at least I be able to buy food at school the next day during break time and be among the big boys.

my parents thought they showing me the right paths but I think they were wrong, because they exposed me to alot of freedom, street life and other immoral acts at an early age. I don't blame them still, we were poor, mom a house wife...dad a carpenter... sometimes we eat just Once in a day... and I can vividly see the pains on my dad face.

I served my OGa for 4years, just after I wrote my waec exam... you should know am already a big boy at least so I thought. I took him like a big brother, because I never had one...just I and my 2 eldest sister. he gave me alot of advice and put me in line whenever the street life was trying to get a hold of me.

As days go on I realised I had to make it out from the street on my own, my OGa had no intentions to settle me yet because he too wasn't financially bouyant.

my name is TERRY and here goes my story life in fraud, betrayal and drugs.

Hello Literature Section, long time no see.

This is a story i started writing some years ago, but never really got down to concluding until this year.

I haven't posted any story in a few years, and will be eager to get feedback on this one. So, here goes.

Title: The Proposition

Plot:

Patrick Umeh, a young man down on his luck, meets wealthy Folashade Oche in the unlikeliest of situations, and receives an odd proposition from her; begin a relationship with her ambitious, career-focused daughter and get her to fall for him, and in exchange, she turns his life around. It's a proposition Patrick is wary about, but he has a little sister to think of, and Adunni Oche doesn't look so bad.
He goes through with the plan, having little expectations, least of all, the possibility that he could fall for Adunni. With his feelings in the mix, Patrick knows he must come clean to Adunni, but will time be on his side?

Adunni Oche cared little for a love life, and least of all, one orchestrated by her meddling mother. When she meets the charming Patrick Umeh though, she reconsiders her stance on dating. He's everything she never thought she would find in a man, and the best part is, she found him without her mother's interference....or so she thinks. What happens when Adunni learns of the proposition? Will her feelings for Patrick, trump her feeling of betrayal?

Literature / Re: The Church Girl Christian Romance. A Short Story. by guyXander(m): 7:53am On Jan 30, 2022

A true-life event inspired story.

One

I wasn't looking for a man.

Okay. The truth was... Men weren't looking for me. Not any more.

I was one of those ladies you could call, "Old maids." However, I wasn't old— not in that sense. I was beautiful, slender, could pass for a twenty-eight year old even though I was thirty-nine. And I wasn't a maid.

I've got a good job, my own house and a car. Those were supposed to attract men to me, right?

They didn't.

There was a time I used to get those attentions (I was a head-turner...still is). I guess men got tired of my face and decided to seek after younger women.

How did I know it was my age that scared them? They would always dump me a few weeks after revealing my age to them. And I couldn't lie either.

I was a good Christian (Still am) and didn't want to play games to hook a man... So there... Back to my story

I stopped trying to get a man and channelled my energy into building a career and strengthening my relationship with God. I wasn't going to bear a grudge against God for not giving me a husband.

Yes, It hurts to have your younger ones bring their kids for you to babysit while they galavant with their spouses.

Your friends alienate themselves from you because they are now married and you are not, and only remember to call you when they need financial support.

To become a godmother to countless children while men avoid you like a plague once you mention marriage, so there was no hope of having your own kids.

Yes... It hurts like hell but I wasn't going to take it out on God.

It's six years since I took the decision not to pray for a husband and gradually, the desire to be with a man dispersed like mist in the cloud.

And the Lord kept promoting and prospering me (who was I to complain?)

Then, one morning, I heard the Lord say to me. "I am going to give you a man after my heart."

Me: *looked around to know if there was someone with me in the kitchen, but there was none.*

God: "I am going to give you a man after my heart."

Me: Father, I hope you are not talking to me.

God: *for the third time* "I am giving you a man after my heart."

Me: Don't tempt me, God. You know I love you with or without a man so don't play this game with me.

The conversation ended and I left for work.

Fast forward to two weeks later. I was in a Christian organisation's national conversation (name of the fellowship withheld) got me the front seat, a few feet from the podium and was enjoying a great moment of worship when the speaker for the night mounted the pulpit.

A slender, handsome, fair-skinned with pink lips, soft-spoken man that should be in his early fifties.

When I say handsome, this man was super handsome down to his smiles and the most attractive thing about him was that he was oblivious of his looks.

A widower for more than seven years. and with two grown kids, that stay abroad. (He was the national president of our Christian organisation so we know his story)

This sexy-as-an-angel son of the most high was a multi-billionaire with hotels all over the country and moved with a security entourage.

Enough of describing him... Back to my story

I watched him lay on that altar as the worship was going on, rolling and praying for minutes. When he stood up and was about to start preaching, the Lord said to me:

God: Here he is.

Ah ah nau. God if you are a joker, this one is too expensive. Baba no dey do this kine thing abeg.

Preaching started...

A few minutes later, he said again.

God: I will make him come to you.

Okay. Now, this is serious. Uncle God... If I don't know your voice, I would have said the devil has started ministering. Mana Biko, stop this expensive joke...

I've not even been anywhere near this man—Ever! He didn't know me... Yes he was our president but for the "wee donkeys of Nazareth's sake," the fellowship has over five million members, this man resided in Abuja and I resided in Enugu, attending a branch where this man had NEVER VISITED!

As these things were going on in my head, Mr handsome son of Jehovah abruptly stopped speaking.

For about three minutes he stood there, with mic in his hand and eyes closed. Then suddenly he turned toward my direction and cast those eyes on me.

Even seated on the front roll, I was still a little far from the podium but I felt that gaze to my bones.

His eyes, piercing smokey dark orbs, locked with mine and I swear I could pick my heart from my mouth that minute.

He saw me!

This man noticed me!!

What he did next sent jitter down the pit of my stomach and flutter coursing through my skin. I saw an almost imperceptible smile walk up to his lips and he gave a slight nod before tearing his eyes away to continue the ministration...
