Did you buy your HP laptop/mini/netbook between 2010 & 2012? Does your per pack have an LS-15 label on it? Then you may need to change it immediately. Due to safety concerns with chargers and power packs produced between 2010 and 2012, computer manufacturing giants Hewlett-Packard has rolled out an AC ADAPTER REPLACEMENT programme. Please see below official communication from HP: You are receiving this notice because HP has announced, in cooperation with various government regulatory agencies, a worldwide voluntary AC power cord recall programme. HP records show that you have registered a product that may be affected. The AC power cords have the potential to overheat, posing a fire and burn hazard to consumers. The affected AC power cords were sold from September 2010 through June 2012 and distributed worldwide with HP and Compaq notebook and mini notebook computers (including mobile thin clients and mobile workstations), as well as with AC adapters provided with accessories such as docking stations. HP’s primary concern is for your safety. To reduce the likelihood of damage from a power cord failure, stop using your power cord immediately until you have determined whether your power cord is affected. http://echo.com.ng/2014/hp-power-packs-may-be-dangerous-to-healthsafety/ |

I am very young (not that young though), and over the years, through study of myself, and of others, I have come to understand a few reasons why the world's problems are more than we can control. One of those theories I call the THEORY OF MOTIVE. And my theory goes thus: For every decision a man makes, there are TWO reasons. 1. What he tells others: In politics, this is called a manifesto 2. What he tells himself: I call this motive - the why behind the why. One of the sources of our problems in humanity is that number 1 is not usually equal to number 2. But taking a look at the picture below, you may ask, if I make my manifesto equal to my motive, isn't that a bad thing? manifesto-motive Let look at two scenarios. One fictitious case, and then a true life story. Scenario 1 - Fictitious case A young man sees a girl and is attracted to her. He starts up a conversation in whichever way he can. The girl finds out that he's funny, has a great sense of humour, is loving, caring etc. Weeks turn to months, they are together. They are "in love". Then one day, either by deliberate arousal or in error, sex is involved. Then two things happen - The love either grows stronger, or begins to dwindle. Let's assume the love dies - the boy has seen it all, so there is no more "interest" in the girl. He begins to "look outside". In fact, this relationship has failed already. On the other hand, let's say the love grows stronger, then there is more sex. They are in an "excellent relationship" - the my-man-is-great-in-bed relationship that the girl boasts of to her friends, or the I-have-the-best-girl-in-the-world confession by the man. But then, there is a challenge - time. With time, the spark begins to die, and then it becomes a struggle for either party to keep up the love. And then one day, after a short quarrel, the center can no longer hold - relationship over. Why did the relationship fail? Was there a problem with the relationship from the start? Scenario 2 - True life story Once upon a time, a man fell in love with a girl. He was so in love, it became an obsession, and he was terribly ill. The girl was a virgin, and she was okay with him getting married to her, but he was not patient, and one day, he raped her. ammon-tamar-1ammon-tamar-3ammon-tamar-2 This is the story of Amnon and Tamar (2 Samuel 13:1-19). I strongly implore you to read this story in detail. It shows the difference between manifesto and motive. Key in the story is that after the act, he hated her more than he loved her. Now the question here is, why did he suddenly hate her afterwards? Was his motive love? Or was it just his manifesto? What happened to the love that led to obsession and illness? What was his motive? MANIFESTO, OR MOTIVE? Truth is told when a man's manifesto is equal to his motive. Any variation automatically invalidates the veracity and genuineness of his actions. It is this manifesto-motive variation that makes a man make a promise before being put into power, and then few months later, he begins to do something opposite. It is the source of governmental problems. It is the source of problems in relationships. It is the even the source of the problem in the church! Proliferation of churches is now a normal occurrence, and these churches are based on principles that oppose the original intent of the church - to save souls. BIG PROBLEM, ANY SOLUTION? I don't have a solution to these problems, but I know one thing, that when God sent his son Jesus, he had a motive equal to his manifesto - Jesus was sent to die from the foundation of the world (Revelation 13: , and yes he did die, for sinners (1 Timothy 1:15-16, 1 Peter 3:18). At least I can be sure that if God could achieve the manifesto-motive equality, then I can. I believe I can, and I believe you can. And one day, when Jesus comes, he will take only those that achieve this feat - not by filthy self righteousness (Isaiah 64:6), but by submission to the Spirit of God (Galatians 5:16).I rest my case, for now... http://kcemenike.com/2014/my-thoughts/kcemenikes-theory-of-motive/ |
Do I say my Nairaland is back, or that I am back on Nairaland? Well, whichever way, thanks to an unseen brother from a long distant mother, I finally remembered I once had a Nairaland account and need to check in once in a while (before my premium subscription expires lol)... Anyway, here I am, maybe I could look a bit at some posts here and there... So.... who missed me? No lie oh. |
I started a music blog http://Igbosongs.com for Igbo music, wanted to make it mostly high life, but stopped uploading songs to it (unforseen circumstances). Thanks for this thread , at least the beginning part. Maybe I'll revive the bongo in that site. peace |

Casie J: It's a 4.2.2Settings >> Wireless and Networks >> Data Usage. Then select Menu and you'll see the option to disable Background data |
How about a rating system just like many VBulletin forums where your post is rated (either in percentage or out of a possible 5 stars). That way, there won't be a need for a yearly voting etc etc. FlipSide: It could impact on page load speed though ![]() |
Casie J:What is your Android Version? Check your version by going to Settings >> About Phone toludadon: afta disabling backgrd data , my phone stops giving me notifications for email and facebook.helpThat's exactly what you want, isn't it? Notifications are background data. If you want to restrict specific applications from accessing the internet, use a firewall application. Avast can do this for you but requires root permissions. I created this new thread so that BBM users without the luxury of either BlackBerry, Android, and iOS phones can interact about their experience with emulating BBM on PC. There are quite a number of ways to emulate BBM on PC, but the most popular are AndroidVM (now known as GenyMotion) BlueStacks Windroy There are many guides online of how to install and configure these software, unfortunately most of them are online installers (though there are workarounds for that), but you can share your experience with using BBM on PC here, ranging from video requirements, speed, and other challenges you face with emulating other Android apps (Real Football for example ) |
You would need to redownload and reinstall BlueStacks. FYI, there's an offline installer for it. Alternatively, you could also get GenyMotion. I prefer it though since I can emulate any Android device and any specific Android Operating System http://echo.com.ng/2014/run-bbm-pc-works-android-app/ |
Me too oh Francheezy: Do you have Backtrack on your complete Linux Installer, It not on my distros |
There is a link on XDA to download all the versions of framaroot. Download them all. Install them one after the other, when you get to the one that will work for your phone, your phone will trigger a warning "This app exploits a known vulnerability on your phone. Do you want to continue?" When that happens, know you've gotten the right one. Then proceed to install SU (not SuperUser) on the phone. UPDATE: I remember I blogged it sometime back. I'll get you the links in a few |
Lovexme: MyAppSharer... self explanatory.XPlore File Manager does that for me ![]() My list: Lucky Patcher BlackMart Alpha echo.com.ng/2013/howto-get-paid-apps-for-free-ios-and-android/ Aptoide (same job as BMA) AIDE (Android Integrated Development Environment) love-vendor My Music Pro (plays mp3 and also lets you edit tags of your music etc etc) TouchPal X (I hate that I can't use Swype though )Complete Linux Installer (Just as the name suggests) The list goes on |

If you don't already know BlackMart Alpha, then here's a quick primer (you could also read other posts on NL about it) What is BlackMart Alpha It is an alternative app store to Google Play Store, but here the paid apps are free. I use it, and I've had success with it. It has its downside though (more of that in a bit) How does it work? BlackMart Alpha works on the principle of 'crowdsharing' (call it file sharing if you please, I no sabi English), I upload any app to BlackMart server, and someone else that has BlackMart Alpha installed can also download it for free (whether I paid for it or not, doesn't matter). I've done both a blog post, and a YouTube video if you want more clarification BlogPost >> http://echo.com.ng/2013/howto-get-paid-apps-for-free-ios-and-android/ YouTube vid >> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xgHafGNUMCc Pros Obviously, you can get paid apps for free with BMA You could also download the apk of any app and later send to others from your file manager (if you just plan to download a file and not install it). Unlike Google Play Store that forces you download and install her apps. There are ways of also sharing your downloaded apps anyway, with or without Flash Share/All Share Play etc. Not the focus of this guide Cons You have to enable "Install from unknown sources" in your Application (or Security) Settings, and too bad many peeps don't like it Since whatever you're downloading was previously uploaded by another BMA user, it could be used by malicious coders to distribute malware apks, so your security while you use this app is totally up to you Endpoint Ask questions, get answers. |

Hello friends In the last MIT Hackathon, an interesting open source software was created. It's called OneTimeBox. It's just like dropbox, but it's great for sharing disposable files. It has a 1GB limit and your file stays there for just a week. That means if you don't want Google to index it, put it here Read my review here The catch here is, because the internet is more censored than ever, and since the death of Silk Road, files are suddenly 'disappearing' off the internet. e.g. it took me God-knows-how-long to get an e-copy of one Nutrition book for my friend, and all links (including torrent links FYI) were dead. But with this option, we could share files for a while and after a week it is automatically disposed. Some of us have stuff that, once upon a time were online, but now aren't. All you have to do is 1. Upload the file to OneTimeBox 2. Share the link 3. Leave it for a week, and it dies a natural death No more 'dead' links No more bandwidth limitations like DropBox (I've not verified this claim though) What do you think? |
einsteino: i buy dead galaxy note 1, note 2, s2, s3 e.t.c....also fix cracked screens. call 08038843386I don't want my S2 sold, I want it fixed. It's hard bricked (I guess you know how bad that is ) |
If you're an Android user, you probably know already that Android's biggest advantage is arguably that it has more apps in its official store (Google Play Store) than any other app store in history. This means that there are too many options to choose from. But that leaves us with a big challenge, identifying the best app(s) for the job, hence the purpose of this thread. I compiled a list of my 53 favorite apps (coincidentally, on Nigeria's 53rd independence day anniversary) but I'll like you to drop a comment on your favorite apps. So that it doesn't get really messy, please include your OS version (2.3 gingerbread, 4.0 ice cream sandwich, 4.1+ jellybean etc) and then the category. The common most common categories are Music/video/pictures/media Security Productivity Gaming News Social Networking Religious Feel free to add categories I've missed. |
Guys. I'm no dev, but have you seen passnownow? If not, I suggest you check it out |
