Speaking like a Nigerian from a Nigerian University, First class and 3rd class are both hopeless,
but in a sane clime first class product are excelent inventors and startup gurus..
First Class Product of Oxford is a Product of quality library time, Online research and Smartness.. nothing like la cram la pour.. questions are designed to challenge your reasoning and how you can apply the knowledge to real societal problems and not Nigerian University questions that merely text your knowledge of your lecturers lecture note..

Sequel to what they've also written above.... 1.Don't brag unnecessary at any point....or with anyone.
2.Dress responsibly, don't follow what people do while also not forgetting where you came from.
3 Mind your movements at all cost...face the reason why you're in school squarely...
4. Chose a good real friend to work with....
5. Most importantly find a good fellowship to attend...it will save you of some deep touching stories..... UNIVERSITY IS ANOTHER FREE WORLD. |

thebrainyfox: Nice, I like this.
Emotional traumatism is very bad, if it should be it, you will need to see a psychologist.
But if it is just unpleasant moment, the best thing to do is to train your mind to forget the unpleasant moment.
We've something called the mind power. Read more about it here https://www.thebrainyfox.com.ng/tbf-students-study-tips-9-hacks-to-remember-whatever-you-read-effectively/
The mind power is very effective in solving this kind of issue, it deals with visualization and imagination.
You visualize that the unpleasant moments never happened at all, your imagine that there's nothing like that and it has never occurred to you at all.
Another thing. Personal conviction is very effective in solving this too. If you can convince yourself that the unpleasant moment is not worth thinking about, that is just happened due to fate or it is a normal thing, you will not have to be thinking about it again and it won't be popping to you while you're reading.
You can try the mind power and feed me back later. I'm very sure it will work, just visualize the unpleasant moment to be unreal and concentrate at the task at hand. Alright thanks... guess they are just some irrelevant moments that do not even deserve any pondering.... |

thebrainyfox: Sister.
It is not advisable for you to be reading for long.
In fact, reading for long time usually bore your brain, you should learn to read for a short period of time.
You are sleeping whenever you want to read definitely because you are not determined enough, no matter the drug you used you will still sleep, the only thing that can keep you awake whenever you want to read is your determination and self motivation.
Ponder on this.
Do you find sleeping easy when you are having exam the next day?, like a day to your exam.....do you use to sleep like that too?
Not really, the fear of failure will force you to be awake and to read. If the fear of failure is keeping you awake, probably you can use it too whenever you're reading.
Train your mind to believe that you're having exam the next day and if you fail the exam you might be expelled from school, the fear of the failure will force you to stay awake and read.
In addition, long reading also contribute to this, if you keep reading for longer hours, you brain will be bored and will want to shut down, this will lead to you feeling sleepy.
My article here can greatly be of help to you https://www.thebrainyfox.com.ng/tbf-students-study-tips-9-hacks-to-remember-whatever-you-read-effectively/ Grood. How about coping with depressing moments from the past? or any unpleasant moment was forgotten but keeps popping in while reading like GOOGLE ADS ? Someone needs an answer to that.... |

luemz: Good evening esteemed Nairalanders, I sincerely need the opinions and possible suggestions of we all to assist me in making better decision in my life and career. I've always wanted to study medicine and surgery but couldn't secure an admission through jamb so I did pre degree and got microbiology. I'd be 23 by July and I recently graduated with a first-class in microbiology and also doubled as the best graduating student of my class. the issue here is I've still got this strong zeal and passion to do medicine (now preferably outside Nigeria) but due to lack of funds (lost my sponsor in my 3rd year), the possibility of me going to do medicine still seem like a mirage for now. I suspect I may be retained to lecture because of my record-breaking performance, but I don't really fancy full-time lecturing as a career for me. please is there any full scholarship anyone can possibly recommend I apply for with my results that'd enable me achieve my dream of becoming a medical doctor? because that's where I think I'd find true happiness (aside volunteering with some NGOs) or should I further in masters and PhD? and just start working?
thanks in anticipation.. ..hello bro, I'm almost in similar situations as yours....hi me on WhatsApp pls as I'm not so conversant with Nairaland these days. |
