Decubitus ulcer, known as bed sores, develop when an individual is incapacitated and unable to move on his own. Such an individual would require assistance in achieveing common activites such as rolling on bed. Due to this inability to move voluntarily, these individuals, without constant attention, are prone to laying on one part of the body for prolonged periods of time. The pressure on the skin on the part of the body on which this indiviudal may have laid for prolonged durations, in addition to the accumulation of sweat and other bodily fluids such as urine, leads to the breakdown of the skin. This is the beginning of bed sores. Considering its mechanism of formation, prevention is simple; roll/move the individual often to distribute pressure evenly over the body or purchase products that achieve that. These products are the Anti decubitus water mattress and the Alternating pressure air mattress. Both of these products are effect in 99% of cases under research conditions and are therefore guaranteed to prevent bed sores. These products can be purchased online @ www.everymedical.com.ng

Be careful what I wish for? You have idea what I wish for. If you are a doctor and it's so easy to leave then why are you still here? Loyalty to your nation? I disagree. JOHESU is seeking for adherence to agreements. If you think they are attempting to 'rub shoulders with doctor', whatever that means, then you are spinning tales out of thin air. I mentioned the origin of the title, you didn't get it from going to medical school, you gained it because historical.figures gave it to you both honorary and function derived title. Your qualification after school is very clear. I studied physiotherapy, I didn't cry about the pay, or demand that someone else earn less or ask to get as much pay as the physiotherapist in Canada, I simply resigned, started a business and improved my lot. If you want to earn like the Canadian, go there or resign and start a business. How is it anyone's business that a consultant is managing 10million? And as such the nurse should manage one million? oyb: |
The mentality that prompted this post is one of the reasons discord keeps arising in the health sector. You mentioned the salaries of doctors in canada, that salary reflects the standard of living in that country. If you want to make 180mil annually, resign and get into business or move to Canada. Because in Nigeria, 180mil is a huge amount of money available only to the very wealthy. It is good also that your mentioned Canada, it is bad however that you chose to mention only Canadian points supporting your argument, you failed to mention that there are nurse surgeons for instance over there (infact a nurse surgeon was once US surgeon general, not a doctor!!!, there are consultant physiotherapists and other consultants. Remember that a Dr is addressed as such historically, only as a result of function, some sort of honorary title. Degree obtained after school is MBBS: Bachelor of medicine bachelor of surgery. There is no doctor attached to that. Functional title can as well apply to a physiotherapist and very well so. A doctor might have a nurse to order around but not a nutritionist whose field he doesn't know, not a physiotherapist whose field he doesn't know either, not a Physiologist whose field he knows only off Guyton and no more. That's all by the way, what problem does doctors have with what others want to earn,JOHESU embarked on strike partly because they want FG to honour agreements made in the past!!! Why should that bother doctors? I cannot wrap my head around that. Why should doctors attempt to dictate what others earn?!!! Why should there be a static ratio which the government must follow? If a nurse earns x then a doctor must earn 5x. That is ridiculous at best. It smacks of a pathological superiority complex in a system that should.work as a team. Yes other professionals have a right to consultancy, if they demand for it by virtue of experience gained in a hospital, why not? Does a doctor not become a consultant equally by such experience in addition to passing some exams. If someone is versed enough in his field and is suitably qualified then he can be a consultant. It is not a challenge to doctors, it a title earned!!! As is obtainable in numerous other fields outside the health sector. Subjective ideas about value is great, it is however no deterrent. Concerning intra professional disagreements between RN and Bsc N etc, what has that got to do with anything. Keep at your grade level 12 and don't tell a health worker to desist from asking the government for agreed emoluments for his grade level 8!!! OgaInnocent: |
Now this is the woman's side of the story, the man's side is rarely heard. But first let us explore some scenarios, did the man attempt to take some of the kids with him? Most probably he did but of course the woman resisted vehemently, if the children are young, the court will most likely grant the woman custody, so she keeps the kids, has what might be called a stable family, and expects the man to maintain that family while he wallows in loneliness. This isn't about child support, this is unfairness to men, if the woman is incapable of taking care of the children then she should give them up to the man, rather than expecting him to do all the duties from a distance while gaining nothing out of it given that with such duties, he will probably be unable to start another family somewhere else. This brings us to another usual.scenerio, in which the woman also teaches the children to dislike their father or, often, threatens to do it. What use are children to a man if they hate him. Logic demands, in this case, that he starts another family. Support for the other becomes a matter of discretion, thus he might "support" as he seems fit or as is directed by the court and leaves it at that. Anyway we rarely hear the man talk, the woman always plays the victim. More often than not though, she is far from that. We get the picture of a nice considerate woma who refused to bother the man because she thought he wasn't financially stable. A grossly illogical picture because men do not seperate from nice, wonderful women!!! |
Have you seen a case of decubitus ulcer? Most probably you haven't. Most people don't know what it is until a relative of theirs develops the ulcers. The knowledge seems reserved for medical students and personnel. Decubitus ulcers or pressure sores develop when skin and muscles tissues break down in immobile patients due to the constant pressure on that specific part of the body from the patient's weight. It is an extremely unpleasant condition. And it is extremely difficult to heal, usually requiring surgical procedures. One of the mundane means of attempting to prevent it is by turning the patient at intervals. However this is a very unreliable method which fails more than 90% of the time. This is because any delay in the interval accumulates over time eventually resulting in formation of the ulcer, and patient relatives delay all the time, some even forget. If the responsibility lies with nurses, then it is a certainty that the ulcer will develop given their impossible work load in Nigerian hospitals and their attitude to work in Nigeria (this applies to all medical personnel working in Nigeria) There are methods of preventing these ulcers which are far more reliable. One is the alternating pressure air mattress. This simple unit moves air through the mattress on different portions of the body at steady intervals. The pumped air lifts that part of the body, transferring pressure to other parts then subsequently does the same for other parts. Effectively, this prevents the accumulation of constant pressure on one part of the body required for the skin and muscle break down seen in pressure sores The other is medical water mattress. This operates on a principle similar to alternating pressure air mattress but without the electricity and a pump. It is has the added advantage of being "sweatless" given that the resting temperature of water is lower than that of the body, therefore stopping sweating in the patient which is extremely important in pressure sore prevention These products have a 99.99% prevention rate yet most patients who requre them have no idea that they exist. They also don't frequently get recommended because a lot of doctors do not know about them too. Hopefully this situation will change in the nearest future. Then this unpleasant condition can become a thing of the past You can purchase alternating pressure air mattress and medical water mattress from www.everymedical.com.ng or WhatsApp 07038614025
