Back to the OP. It might not really be a serious case, because the people who wrote the bible didn’t understand how the world works. They wrote it based on what they understood maybe at that time it was classified a tree.

But it becomes wrong if you try to use the bible as a science text book to explain how the natural world works

What I don’t understand about these believers is that they do not practice everything in their so called sacred book. If you ask a Christian why doesn’t he do what Deuteronomy commands him to do ( he’s permitted to own slaves, he’s permitted to rape and murder). You’d hear things like it’s the Old Testament and god has abandoned.

okay this is a very good question. let us assume that god created the universe and while doing so he decided to add the laws of physics to the universe. A question would pop up in my mind. did he create these laws because they are right for the universe or god just wanted it that way ?

I believe they make that choice because the lifestyle they want to live has no place for God. If there is a Creator, then there is a God. If there is God, then there is a Judge. There was one elderly man in my area who had appendicitis. He was supposed to go for the surgery to remove it before it ruptured. But he was advised by some of his colleagues in his church that he should not go for the surgery, that god was going to heal him. In my mind I didn’t even advise him cause at least the world would be less of one stupid person. So months later he died. During his funeral I was hearing things like “ our brother has gone to be with the lord”. I was just smiling in my mind and wondering why do we have this type of stupid people in the 21st century.
