Governor Adams Oshiomhole has told a gubernatorial aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu that he is proud to call Alhaji Aliko Dangote his friend.

On the contrary Oshiomhole said Ize-Iyamu could boast of his friends and associates as some of them have been convicted of looting the state’s treasury.

Pastor Ize-Iyamu who was Secretary to State Government during the administration of Mr. Lucky Igbinedion as Governor of Edo State had in a press statement published in some newspapers said “with the touted relationship with Dangote, it is just a few months to the end of his tenure that he could attract him to lay foundation stone for cement factory in Edo State”.

However in a response by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Peter Okhiria, the Governor said: “I’m proud to associate myself with Dangote, and I’m proud to say my friendship with Dangote has yielded a $1 billion investment in the state in the form of a brand new Okpella Cement factory which will offer close to 50,000 direct and indirect jobs to people of the state.

“My friendship with Dr. David Ladipo yielded another $1 billion Azura Power Plant. My friendship with Captain Hosa Okunbo has yielded a $750 million Wells and Carlos Farms which is set to employ over 85,000 people.

“I’m proud to say that under my stewardship as Governor, investors now find Edo State very attractive and they are coming down here in droves. Already a Chinese Steel Company, Yongxing, is in full production and is already seeking ways to expand its operations; another Chinese Company, Time Ceramics Limited is also into full production and already into the second phase of expanding its operations.

“Also, more Chinese companies are planning to set up their factories in different parts of the state, these are my friends, those are my records which I am proud of.

“Now, there is a popular saying “show me your friend and I will tell you whom you are”. Who are Pastor Ize-Iyamu’s friends? It is on record that some of his best friends have been convicted of looting the state’s treasury.

“What are Ize-Iyamu’s records as SSG in Edo State? How many of his friends was he able to attract to invest in the state? None. Rather than bring in investors to the state, they siphoned the state money and established phoney companies: Ehor Juice factory, Cassavita Company, AVA Cement factory all of which were designed to fail from the beginning and which they eventually sold to their cronies at give-away prices.

“Ize-Iyamu said a PDP Government will commission the Okpella Cement factory. Is the PDP still functional in Edo State? Is it not instructive that nobody finds the PDP attractive to jostle for that party’s gubernatorial ticket. As at the last count, the APC had over 13 aspirants, while the PDP had just four. That is reflective of the apathy, dissatisfaction, and resentment the people have towards that drowning party.

“The PDP will never again reverse the development train of the APC government in Edo State and come 2018, another APC government will continue from where we stop on November 12, 2016, and will commission the $1 billion Okpella Cement factory and many other industries which my friends have signified interest to establish in Edo State.

“Yes, Aliko Dangote is my friend. Ize-Iyamu, who is your friend?”

Ntel 0804, Nigeria's latest telecoms firm has rolled out 4G LTE services in Lagos and Abuja.


Mr Kumar Abass, the Chief Executive Officer of ntel, said the operation will come with bumper offers for early bird pioneers and data users.


“ntel, Nigeria’s 5th mobile network operator start of operation is the culmination of its journey from acquiring the old Nitel/Mtel assets.


“The first 100,000 to redeem and activate their ntel SIMs will get free on-net calls for life, while data subscribers will get 3-months unlimited data usage.”


He said that ntel had established the Pioneers Club to reward early bird joiners to its network and those who had reserved their numbers, and who subsequently activated its SIM this month.


The ntel chief executive said the company’s 4G/LTE-Advanced technology built on the 900/1800 MHz spectrum would deliver unbeatable and game changing customer experience of high-speed internet access up to 230Mbps.

The unfortunate incident happened last night at his 82, Brickfield road, off Apapa Road, Ebute Metta home/factory in Lagos. The fire which started outside at about 8pm last night lasted till about midnight...and razed the building, which housed Dakova's home (in front) and Factory (at the back), to the ground. Fortunately no one was injured but he lost his machines & clothes already sewn worth over $300k. Cause of the fire hasn't been made known...

Two men are currently in the custody of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency after being nabbed at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos over 252 wraps of cocaine weighing 4.3kgs.



The NDLEA put the street value of the drugs at about N39m.

According to NDLEA spokesperson, Mr. Mitchell Ofoyeju, the suspects – 54-year-old Chinweuba Echezona, who is a driver and 44-year-old Ekwueme Louis, a trader – had ingested some of the drugs and concealed part of it in their luggage.

Ofoyeju said:

“The suspects were caught during the screening of passengers on an Emirates flight from Dubai. The NDLEA commander at the airport, Ahmed Garba, said that both suspects are under investigation.

Echezona packed 103 wraps of cocaine in his waist and ingested 69 wraps weighing 2.745kgs while Louis concealed 75 wraps in his luggage and ingested five wraps.”

Garba said the suspects are currently being grilled over the unlawful importation.

Ofoyeju said:

Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspects were promised N500,000 each to smuggle the drugs from Dubai to Nigeria. Their trip was fully sponsored by an unidentified drug trafficking organisation.

However, efforts are ongoing to trace and arrest their sponsors. Martins is married with five children while Louis is married with three children.”

Echezona told officials of the agency in his statement:

“I am a driver but I have been out of job for a while now. I have been searching for job and my condition was so bad that I could not feed and discharge my responsibilities as a husband to my wife and father to my children. This was the reason I went into drug trafficking. I did it in order to survive the economic hardship.”

Louis also attributed his involvement in drug trafficking to poverty.

“I used to sell jewellery but I have lost everything including my shop due to family problem. I feel ashamed that I cannot take care of my family and pay the school fees of my children,” he said.

NDLEA Chairman, Muhammad Abdallah, has ordered a speedy investigation of their cases.

He said:

“Let me assure members of the public that the NDLEA has taken measures to fortify the exit points in the country. Drug traffickers will find it difficult to break through our security barriers.”

“The ultimate objective is to have a society that is free from illicit drug production, trafficking and abuse. This arrest is being investigated and we hope to trace other persons linked to the crime.”

For about years of my experience with the West African Examination Council, I have never been this shocked seeing that the examination body failed to set questions up to the required numbers.

Students came out of examination hall complaing that instead of 8 questions: 4 african prose and 4 non-African prose and you are required to 2 from each section, there were only 6 sections and a very confusing instruction to go with!!!

Any expalnation for this?

Two pupils of New Vine International School, Mushin, Lagos, were flung out of a moving bus driven by the Proprietor, Mr. Ekezie Augustine, at Costain Roundabout, on their way from the National Theatre, Iganmu.

Mr. Ekezie was promptly handed over to the Divisional Traffic Office, Iponri, by operatives of the Rapid Response Squad, RRS, of Lagos State Police Command, for prosecution.

According to school’s Principal, the affected pupils, Seunfunmi Oseni, 4, and Amira Otegbola, 6, were among the 20 that embarked on the journey.

The children, who were rushed to Brickfield Medical Centre, at Ademuyiwa Road, Ebute Metta, were referred to Foremost Radiology, Ogunlana Drive, Surulere, for brain scan before further treatment.

According to an official of Brickfield, “the boy, Seunfunmi, sustained a lot of bruises on his head and leg. He has not walked since he was brought here. We feared he has injured his legs too. He is always folding it and he preferred to be carried.”

Further investigations revealed that the school was not registered with the authorities in Lagos and it had just relocated to its new address in Mushin.

However, the Principal said certification of the school was being processed. He added that “the children were over-excited and uncontrollable before the incident happened.”

About three teachers were reportedly with the children in the bus on the said day.

Three percent of Nigerian ladies are undisturbed by their lack of a spouse but the other 97% would do just anything to become Mrs. Somebody”.


As we read on, we are going to see some unorthodox things Nigerian women will do in their quest to bag a husband! Some are bizarre, some are good and while some downright bad but if you are willing to try anything and getting a husband is the only activity left on your bucket list, you might want to try a few! (Men beware).


1) Snatching a friend or relation’s man.


All is fair in love and war! Rumor has it that women have resorted to locking their phones, hiding their men and coding their gist from so-called friends because it’s a jungle out there.


2) Re-inventing themselves.

Pretence is the order of the day. No man wants to tame the shrew or teach the inexperienced or make an honest woman out of a dishonest one so once marriage is desired, women package themselves in pseudo, ready-made, easy-to-use, highly desirable packages. After marriage, what you see is what you get!


3) Trapping with pregnancy.


This used to be the old school method of getting a man to propose. From skipping the pill to seducing the man or getting him drunk when she was ovulating, a woman usually knew she had the man where she wanted him once she missed her period even if there was no commitment. Now the guys are saying YES to baby mamas and YES to child support. Are the girls deterred? NO! The girls have stepped up their game by involving the parents and you know parents don’t like scandals


4) Praying & Fasting.


This would presumably be an honorable means of obtaining a husband but sometimes the prayers are offered up to deities other than God & other times it becomes a song permanently. Taking his photograph to Cele church for a prophetess to pray over or a powerful Alfa. Heard it works like charm. Taking his sp*rm, hair or personal effects to Babalawo. Guys, disposing of your condoms yourself is not such a bad idea.



5) Outright Jazz.


My friend recently gisted me about how a tied up, live pigeon had been discovered in a friend’s sister-in-law’s box. The woman confessed to using jazz and said she hadn’t been sure if the guy would actually propose so she took the necessary precautions.


6) Putting love potion in his food.

This is classic and timeless but shouldn’t it be called a compelling potion? Because in this case, love na by force!


7) Proposing to a guy.

Yes it does happen (Who wears the engagement ring?) Toasting a man’s family so they make the decision for him! A friend complained that a girl he detested had over the months gotten close to his family.


Lavishing on them, cooking for them and basically being their go-to girl and now his mum had put her foot down that he had to break up with his girlfriend and marry little-miss-went-home-to-mama depending on how much power the family wields, their word may be final.


Asking daddy to get them a husband! If daddy’s a big shot, arranging a husband for you is usually as easy as pie and some men would sell their souls for a large chunk of daddy’s money so both parties are happy.



9) Being the man’s maga.

Some women believe that when you finally get a man to be interested in you, spoiling him and overlooking his every fault would get you into a white gown faster than an okada. Some men don’t mind a woman who houses them, clothes them, feeds them, gives them pocket money, never gets upset with them even when they misbehave and cleans up after them with little or no contribution from them living the dream


10) Giving him unlimited freedom.

Tell me I am number one baby; tell me I am the future mother of your kids and not Amina, Bisi or Ngozi. Women used to want to be the one AND ONLY in their man’s life, now being the number one is good enough.


11) Polishing up a low class, barely educated brother in exchange for a ring.

The deal is simple, you send your cleaner, gateman or driver to night school, you give him language lessons, you take him to buy some new clothes and deodorant and teach him to call you honey instead of madam and in exchange, he gets to marry you, share an expensive bedroom and never worry about his bills ever again!


12) Revamping you.


Change your wardrobe, lose 20kg, buy a truckload of Brazilian hair, study the karma-sutra, do an angioplasty and change the age on your birth-certificate to read 22. Botox, plastic surgery, a compulsory gym membership and a body magic also indicated!


13) Becoming a worker in church.

Rumour has it that men go to church to marry, the same rumour also reveals that Greeters Ushers and Lead Soloists have the best exposure. Praise the Lord!


14) Moving to a new town or part of town.

This always peaks the men’s interest and at the same time you get to run away from your past and the old maid labels.


15) Going for deliverance.


Going for deliverance from a spirit husband and sowing a big marriage seed in church! Giving your possessions to the poor, giving a sacrificial offering or just giving one thing to God that would make you weep.


16) Abandoning hopes, dreams and ambitions.


I’ve heard people say that women looking for a prince charming live unrealistic dreams, virgins are old-school, overly educated women are proud, rich women are not submissive, ambitious women are conceited, women with demanding jobs won’t have time for their families, women who want a faithful man are deluded and women who don’t get pregnant before wedlock have something wrong with their plumbing! So forsake the masters, don’t even dream of a PhD, quit your job, give away all your money and surely a husband will come.


17) Outright Desperation.


And if all the above fails, they marry a married man.


He could be your friend’s husband, your sister’s husband, your cousin’s husband, your colleague’s husband, even your mother’s husband if possible. Can you blame these women? The average guy has commitment phobia or is out to play till he is all spent before he settles down or is waiting to make his first 5 million before saying I do. Even a man with no future ambition or class, much less finances still knows he

could have his pick of the best women out there, once he announces he is looking to settle.

Tragedy occurred at about 3:30am this Friday morning as two siblings were burnt to death in a fire that razed down their three bedroom apartment.

The incident which was as a result of power surge, occurred inside the Navy Officers’ quarters, Camp site, Kirikiri , killing two brothers aged six and nine years.

It was gathered that the Father of the siblings, a Naval officer and their mother were out of town when the unfortunate incident occurred, they left their three children with their houshelp identified as Patience.

Although the fire broke out when all the four occupants were fast asleep, Patience, it was gathered, rescued the couple’s first son, Ayomide, 13; unfortunately, the younger sons did not survive the disaster.

The fire was said to have been put out at about 4:30am, by a combined team of Fire Service, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) and policemen from the Kirikiri division.

The LASEMA’s General Manager, Micheal Akindele confirmed the incident; he revealed that the fire was caused by electrical spark from one of the rooms in the building, spreading to the whole apartment.

The ERT vehicle carrying 5 personnel of State Emergency Management Agency staff and NEMA staff somersaulted four times on the way to rescue people who were trapped in a flooded community. According to NEMA, the rear tyre burst on motion and vehicle had to be diverted into a canal. The officials sustained minor injuries and have been treated and discharged from the hospital.

A gang of two robbers were apprehended and beaten by an angry mob along IBB way Maitama, Abuja on Tuesday Oct. 6th. The robbers, using a power bike, attempted to snatch a bank customer of undisclosed sum of money he'd just withdrawn from a bank along IBB way maitama.
