The Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, has approved the establishment of three new public primary schools in the state.



The schools are: Local Government Primary School, Oke-Ishagun/Ikola, Alimosho Local Government Education Authority (LGEA); Community Primary School, Abule-Eko, Ikorodu LGEA; and Tsangaya Primary School, Orofun, Ibeju-Lekki, LGEA.



According to the Executive Chairman of Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board (LSUBEB), Dr Ganiyu Sopeyin, the establishment of the new schools is as a result of the government's commitment to expanding access to free and qualitative basic education.

Sopeyin warned public school teachers against collecting levies from pupils or their parents or violating any other rules or regulations to avoid facing disciplinary action.



With the new addition, Lagos now has 1,010 public primary schools.

“A joint patrol team of Sector 1 of 27 Task Force Brigade and Army Headquarters Strike Group today cleared Boko Haram terrorists enclaves in Buhari, Matari and Kaidiri villages located some kilometres to Damasak, Borno State earlier today.



“Unfortunately, the remnants of the Boko Haram terrorists at Kaidiri on sighting the patrol team chickened out and withdrew in disarray into Niger Republic with gun shot wounds. The troops pursued them and got 2 Boko Haram terrorists. In addition, they recovered 7 motorcycles and borehole equipment.



“In a related development troops of 7 Division recovered and successfully detonated Improvised Explosive Device planted by suspected Boko Haram terrorists that came in Keke NAPEP in Gomari, Maiduguri metropolis this evening in conjunction with Nigeria Police Explosive Ordnance Device team.


“This development has necessitated the call for more vigilance and security conscious on the part of everyone especially the residents of Maiduguri and its environs.



“The fight against the menace of Boko Haram terrorists is a collective responsibility that require positive contribution from all citizenry. People should please be wary of suspicious persons or objects and report same to the nearest security agency or post.”

A section of the Lagos Airport Hotel on Obafemi Awolowo Way, Ikeja, was gutted by fire on Monday, destroying no fewer than three halls, two rooms and other valuables worth millions of naira.


It was learnt that the inferno resulted from a surge in the electrical installations at a section of the banquet hall around 5am before it extended to other parts of the hotel.


The intervention of officials of the Lagos State Fire Service and the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency prevented the fire from spreading to adjoining buildings.



“With the quick response from all emergency agencies, we were able to salvage the situation.


“The fire was serious and property worth millions of naira was destroyed. But no life was lost and nobody was injured,” an official of LASEMA said

Following received information from well meaning members of the public, troops of Forward Operation Base, Ningi of 33 Artillery Brigade conducted a fighting patrol at Dutsen Dumburum, Ningi Local Government Area, Bauchi State on Saturday.
Earlier intelligence reports confirmed the presence of kidnappers and cattle rustlers in the locality, which made the troops to swing into action by organizing a fighting patrol to the area.

During the patrol, the team encountered the armed bandits and after fierce exchange of gun fire, they were overpowered.
The troops killed three of the armed bandits and rescued three kidnapped females held hostages by the bandits pending payment of ransom.

The patrol team also recovered many items, including arms and ammunitions before destroying the camp.

The recovered items included two AK-47 rifles, two locally made Small Machine Guns, one Double-barrelled Dane Gun, 68 rounds of 7.62mm (Special) ammunitions and four AK-47 rifle Magazines.

Others included two Boxer Motorcycles and two mobile telephone handsets.

Recently, Nigeria has a whole has been experiencing epileptic power supply and Im afriad its not ending soon....


Why?, Here are the reasons....

1. Militants have destroyed 23 gas pipelines across the Niger Delta states since they renewed attacks on national assets from February 14 to date.

2. Nigeria is currently experiencing a shortage of gas supply to about 25 thermal stations in the country.

3. The activities of the Niger Delta Avengers, NDA, have halted the plans by the NNPC to make more gas available to the power stations

4. According to the Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN, the country is now generating about 2, 903MW.

5. This figure is a far cry from about 140,000MW generation requirement estimated by the distribution companies (Discos).

6. Frequent system collapses in the sector is another source of worry for the stakeholders, as statistics show that the national grid has recorded about eight power collapses in the last one month.

7. These collapses occurred on 15th, 18th, 19th and 29th of May; and 1st, 2nd, 8th and 11th of June, 2016.

8. Unless it stops, the activities of militants will continue to have a devastating effect on all the Discos.

The Ogun state police command has arrested 236 people inside the auditorium at the Redemption Camp of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG).


The raid, which took place on Thursday, June 16, was allegedly because of reports that criminals use the auditorium as a refuge after committing crime.



According to the state spokesperson, DSP Muyiwa Adejobi, the raid on the worship centre followed series of reports and intelligence gathering that people with questionable character use the auditorium as a safe haven after committing crime.



Adejobi said,

“Our men carried out the raid in the early hours of Thursday after a series of report that criminals have taken the RCCG Auditorium at Kilometre 46, Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, as hideout.

According to news report, the Federal Government is planning to use some properties seized from looters as offices in a bid to reduce the high rent they pay for office buildings by government agencies.

Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun, disclosed this yesterday June 10th at the opening of a meeting with members of the National Steering Committee of the Efficiency Unit.


The Federal Government since May 29, 2015 have seized over 350 buildings through the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offenses Commission, ICPC, and the Eonomic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

“The average annual expenditure on rent for the three year period 2012 to 2014 was N3.55bn. Theissuance of price guidelines and initiatives for reducing expenditure on rent on office and residential buildings will be the primary focus in the coming months. And to achieve that, we are already looking at using properties that were forfeited from recoveries and moving some of our agencies to occupy those properties rather than paying rent.”

A concerned resident, Olusola Musa Oluko who posted the pictures on his facebook page wrote ” The staff and Methodist primary school,Ewu-Elepe,Ikorodu,Lagos are looking for help of good citizen of this nation of flood problem they’re been facing whenever it rain in this area,save us from all kind of disease”.



According to Musa, this situation has been like this for the past three years, what is even more worrisome is the likelihood of a breakout of an epidemic as the children play and perform their daily school activities inside the flooded compound and classrooms.
