Happen to be a senior engineer with a multi-national for 11years and can tell you that it causes set-backs.

I have the ability to get scope at 98% ue to my years of service an one of the best if not the best in the dept. But trust me, it has severely affected my promotion an versatility.

I can't connect to get informations or seek to get get reeployed to another country or continent cos am more of a ghost.

It also makes u have enemies cos colleagues just dont know what's running in your mind and majority see it has pride.

Trust me, I utter less than 200 words a day at work but always try all my best never to step on toes which can only be caused by a bad job.
I have had a different perspective. My promotion was the fastest at my level in the history of the company which is more than 50 years old. I am a certified Introvert based on a recent professional analysis. At the end of my second year at the job, I went to my ED, sat him down and asked him to assess me in the past two years ( i report to the MD and the Board, but that ED is more powerful than the MD), he said he felt I was delivering on all spheres, I then asked why I had not been recommended for promotion. I told him also I will not resign even if I am not promoted, but I like to know that I am being appreciated. It was a threat but I also covered my back. The next Committee meeting, I was recommended and the Board approved it. My point? Know you environment and use the knowledge to your advantage.

Being an introvert is hard sometimes, currently at my work place I'm being seen as someone who likes forming, because I don't have time to gossip I just like to do my job and be left alone. I don't even like eating in the staff canteen, but at the end of the day people feel your feeling to much of yourself. I just want to be left alone if it's not necessary don't talk to me about it.
In Naija the will say he or she likes claiming but this is just the way we are.
This is exactly how I am and guess what, my people understand and accept me for who i am. Do I deliver, yes. That is what counts in a professional environment.

The paradox is you don't go all out finding jobs, you probably don't need to, but you end up getting what is yours. Most likely you become your own boss due to the fact that you have it in you. Introverts are usually bosses or employers
I am a high level introvert and get head hunted on a regular basis. How do you explain that? Well maybe not your question afterall.

Alright,I applied for the job immediately after my youth service. I didnt stay at home for up to 3weeks before i started working as an admin assistant. During the interview i guess i impressed her because i was given an appointment letter immediately. I was always attentive and learning on the job but its wasnt really easy because i didnt have prior experience. To cut the story short i started noticing my boss angry and always complaining all the time. I didnt know how to handle the situation,a former staff told me thats how she is that i should try and get closer to her which am not good at.
The way i was brought up contributed to me being an introvert, its takes time for me to build relationship with people. I dont just click to people instantly. Whenever the boss arrived my co workers would go and meet her at the parking lot, collect her bags and carry her baby then they would gist ask her about her night bla bla bla even if she was angry with them she would have to forget whatever transpired between them.
The final straw was when a customer came and i was filling in for another person then i couldnt answer the customers question but she just started raging ,she wouldnt even sit down the next thing she called my boss. I was filling in for someone who quickly stepped out so the questions she was asking,i had no idea. I guess i felt intimidated by her cos she didnt even allow me talk and i suddenly forgot how to be a professional. Its was all for the best tho cos its was a 7am to 5pm job,of which i would have woken up 4am so i can leave home 5am and beat the traffic at VI,then sometimes i dont leave the office till around 6 or 7, then get home 8pm which the pay wasnt much and tf was eating all of it from surulere to VI everyday.
It wasn't really about you but about your Boss. She is not experienced and couldn't draw a distinction between home, family, friendship and work.

It is completely unprofessional to offer or accept to either carry another colleague's bag or carry it at all. You are all colleagues. I don't have to greet you and you owe me no greetings, just do your job. I don't get to see my staff except I want them to explain somethings personally and they don't have to see me except they so choose. Just get the godamn job done and give me results. We recently ran an MBTI assessment in my office and of all members of Executive Management, including two Executive Directors (one the Group MD), only 2 members were extroverts and guess what, we still run the Management of the Company. (A large Group with 4 subsidiaries). My point? If you are an introvert, it's not a negative, the system should be able to draw strength from the diversity. Introverts are generally calmer, more organized, tend to notice the missing letters and often others that have been overlooked which could actually cost the company a whole lot. Introverts come in best at the back end while the extroverts are pushed to the frontline (marketing and business development). We all have our uses.

Culture › Re: Omu Arochuku by hardbody: 6:16am On May 15, 2017
In its simplest sense, the omu aro was a telegram used purposely to invite someone to appear at the behest of the eze, more like a subpoena to answer to issues raised against such a person by an accuser or a complainant. You would probably have heard that Aros were very egregious and were to be found everywhere. so the omu was used as a notice of invitation to answer to Arochukwu kingdom to clarify issues. Interestingly it is still in use.

I am not so sure about the gun and sword, my uncle who is a repository of such knowledge has passed on but i could call the okpankpo in council and get a confirmation of what those things mean.

I would imagine that the Eagle depicts the positional oversight of the Aros in those early years when we be strode a large chunk of the igbo heartland like a collosus. You may also reason that the gun and sword is a reminder of either the wars of the Aros to remove the Ekois and Ibibios or the bloody attack of the whiteman that the Aros contended with in the early 16th or 17th century.

Why do you Nigerians think that any rich man is "stealing" your money? How? Where is it indicated in the story that the boss is a politician or public office holder? Is it not clearly stated there that he is a businessman?

Why does he owe you an explanation about what he does or how he makes his money? Your money lost, wey you dey suspect say na him thief am abi wetin? Haba.
Where is the proper place to keep money? On top of the wardrobe?

If there is no dirt, why cover it. It's either his money or he is keeping it for another.....Either way, it's ill-gotten. I don't expect that level of exposure in the write up. In any case because he reported instead, the searchlight is now on the security fool. He could very easily have put the man on the line of fire and sell him a dummy. The man would have spent eternity trying to sniff out who did him in

A long walk to where? So you would whistle-blow on me and my hundreds of millions, and you think your life is assured, or that you would settle down to enjoy my money in peace?

If you like, run to New Zealand or Papua New Guinea. I will hunt you down, and I shall do the needful. At any cost. At all costs.

You people shouldn't encourage reckless and thoughtless actions.
Which action is thoughtless.....the boss stealing and keeping money in the house or the security man that whistle-blows?

I was told whistle blowing is confidential so how would he trace it to the security guy, which is why he should have done all that and waited for the man to be arrested. Bros I won't even run because you can't trace the whistle to me

On May 6, businessman and resident of Gwarimpa Housing Estate, FCT, Abuja, Benedict Emmanuel, noticed that a stack of foreign currency he kept in his house had disappeared.

But little did he know that his good-natured security guard, 40-year-old Alfred Andrew, a Bauchi State indigene, had suddenly become a millionaire, while keeping his home safe.

At 40, Andrew, who studied Mass Communication and Information Technology, went from joblessness to enrolling in an evangelical school, through which he became a pastor.

Yet, he said he needed more out of life.

Andrew said he moved to Plateau State to look for a job until the poor condition of the job forced him to move to Abuja where he took up a security guard job on a N25,000 salary in 2014.

But three years down the line, Andrew thought fate had finally smiled upon him when bundles of foreign currency fell on him while he was rifling through his boss’ belongings one day when the latter was out of the house.

He said, “That day, I was sweeping when I saw a key on the floor. I tried it on the padlock on my boss’ apartment and it opened. I went inside the house and was searching through his belongings when something fell on me from the top of his wardrobe.

“I then realised it was foreign currency. I climbed on a chair to see what was on the top of the wardrobe and noticed that there were currencies from different countries. They were so much. That was the first time I would see so much dollars. I have only seen such large amount in movies.

“I was tempted to take the money. Before, I had been hearing of whistle-blowers but I was not sure who to contact. I didn’t know who to report to. I didn’t have the number of the whistle-blowers (sic). I was scared. I didn’t know who to trust in Nigeria. I might tell someone and the person may turn things around against me.”

Andrew said he started to pick out of the bundles of currencies gradually whenever his boss was out of the house.

Then, he took the step of counting how many wrapped bundles of currency were on the wardrobe.

“I confirmed from someone the amount in the bundles. He said it was N130m after it was converted. I didn’t touch that one because it was sealed. I was only taking from those bundles,” he said.

According to him, for over a month after he started stealing out of the currencies, his boss did not notice.

He said he noticed that each time his boss travelled out, he came back with more foreign currencies.

He said he only checked whenever his boss was away from home to see if the money had increased or decreased. But every time he went into the room, he was always tempted to take part of it.

“If you just pulled a small amount, by the time you count it, there might be more than thirty dollar notes,” he said.

At a point, Andrew went beyond just pulling little amounts of cash from the bundles and took a few million-naira worth.

He said, “I took some amount and converted it to N24.4m and put it in my account.

When Andrew’s boss, Emmanuel, first noticed that a huge part of his cash was gone, he became suspicious of his security guard only when he discovered that the latter was using an iPhone 7 cell phone even though his salary was just N25,000.

When Andrew’s room was searched, expensive designer clothes were also found there.

He was apprehended when Emmanuel informed the Inspector-General of Police Intelligence Response Team.

At the police station, he confessed and N24 million was found in his account.

He also took the police to an apartment that he rented in town where expensive phones were recovered from his girlfriend.

Andrew said, “I bought clothes and mobile phones. I was not even able to wear any of the clothes because I bought them recently. Part of the money I had recently changed to naira was in my bag when I was searched.

“Last Friday when my boss discovered the cash missing, he ordered that nobody should go out of the compound and started searching everybody. His sister who is an official with the Department of State Services came also and checked my phone and bags.

“They took my passport, ATM cards and everything I had before handing me over to SARS. I told my oga I would implicate him by reporting him to EFCC (Economic and Financial Crimes Commission). He said he had been good to me, but I told him his wife had not given me food over the last three years. It is part of the reasons why I did what I did.

“Even when I was employed, I was told my salary would be increased every four months. I was told I would also be fed but that promise was not kept. My boss said the money was not his.”

Andrew said he knew that what he did was wrong but that anytime he asked his boss for money, he always told him he had no money even though he knew about the foreign currencies in the house.

The police have said the suspect would be charged to court soon.

Take out enough of the cash and whistle blow on the remaining. Your boss will be defending himself until you collect your percentage from government and take a long walk.
