EducationUnleashing The Full Potential Of Technology In Education by Harlex(op): 9:05pm On Sep 04, 2023
In today’s fast-paced and ever-evolving world, technology has become an integral part of our daily lives. From smartphones to laptops, from virtual reality to artificial intelligence, technology surrounds us, and its impact on education is profound. The COVID-19 pandemic accelerated the adoption of technology in education, highlighting both its potential and its challenges. To harness the full potential of technology in education, we must understand how to use it effectively to achieve our set goals and objectives.

The Transformative Power of Technology

Technology has transformed the way we learn and teach. It has broken down the barriers of traditional classrooms and opened up a world of possibilities for learners of all ages. Here are some ways in which technology has revolutionized education:

Accessibility: Technology has made education accessible to individuals regardless of their geographical location or physical abilities. Online courses and e-learning platforms have democratized education, allowing people to learn at their own pace.
Personalization: Adaptive learning technologies use data analytics and artificial intelligence to tailor educational content to the specific needs of each student. This personalization enhances engagement and understanding.
Collaboration: Virtual classrooms and collaborative tools enable students and teachers to interact seamlessly, transcending physical boundaries. This fosters a sense of community and shared learning experiences.
Rich Resources: The internet is a treasure trove of educational resources. Students can access a vast array of books, articles, videos, and simulations to enhance their understanding of subjects.
Lifelong Learning: Technology has made it easier for individuals to engage in lifelong learning. Whether you want to acquire a new skill, earn a degree, or simply satisfy your intellectual curiosity, technology provides the means to do so.

Effective Integration of Technology

While technology offers immense potential in education, its effective integration requires a strategic approach. Here are some key considerations for harnessing its full potential:

Clear Learning Objectives: Technology should always align with specific learning objectives. Before adopting any technology, educators must define what they want to achieve and how technology can support those goals.
Professional Development: Teachers need training to effectively use technology in their classrooms. Professional development programs should be a priority to ensure educators are confident and competent in integrating technology.
Infrastructure and Accessibility: Ensuring that all students have access to the necessary technology and a reliable internet connection is crucial. Educational institutions must bridge the digital divide to avoid leaving anyone behind.
Data Privacy and Security: With the use of technology comes the responsibility to protect student data and privacy. Institutions must have robust policies and measures in place to safeguard sensitive information.
Continuous Evaluation: Regular assessment and evaluation of technology’s impact on learning are essential. Schools should collect data on student performance and gather feedback to make informed decisions.

Challenges and Solutions

Despite its immense potential, integrating technology into education is not without challenges. Some common challenges include the digital divide, distractions, and the need for a human touch in education. To address these challenges, we must adopt a holistic approach:

Bridging the Digital Divide: Governments, schools, and organizations must work together to ensure equitable access to technology and the internet, especially for underserved communities.
Balancing Screen Time: Educators should teach students how to manage screen time effectively and encourage offline activities that complement their learning experiences.
Fostering Human Connections: While technology is a powerful tool, it should not replace the essential human element in education. Encourage meaningful interactions between students and teachers, both online and offline.

Conclusion

Technology has the potential to revolutionize education and help us achieve our set goals and objectives more efficiently. However, this transformation requires careful planning, continuous evaluation, and a commitment to bridging the digital divide. By integrating technology strategically and focusing on personalized, accessible, and secure learning experiences, we can unlock the full potential of technology in education and prepare students for success in the 21st century. Embracing technology as a means to enhance education is not just a choice but a necessity in our increasingly digital world.

PoliticsRe: APC Primaries: Wilson Chidozie Accused Of Presenting Fake WAEC Certificate (Pix) by Harlex(m): 10:40am On Jun 23, 2021
That's a WAEC GCE result......one can take the exam irrespective of age it's only the internal WAEC that have some age barrier. All the reasons for assuming the result is fake in this post is baseless........a simple confirmation on the waec official results checking website would have just done the needful. The certificate displayed here has on it exam year, exam number and seat number.......so whoever is in doubt of the result should clear all doubt with a 1800 naira waec result checker.

RocketHarbalTea:
APC PRIMARIES: WILSON CHIDOZIE, WICHTECH CEO, TRIES TO BEWITCH INEC WITH FAKE WAEC CERTIFICATE

The list of Nigerian politicians who have presented fictitious certificates keeps stretching longer. It is, to put it mildly, shameful and humiliating. Nigerians are considered to be the finest educated black people in the world, according to one US report, and are among the most educated immigrants in the country, both vertically and horizontally - Nigerians are now ironically poster-characters for fraudulent certifications, 419 qualifications, and dubious academic affiliation, which is disgusting.

A shocking yet revealing discovery was made recently about Anambra governorship aspirant, Wilson Chidozie. The WAEC certificate of the CEO of a large Nigerian construction conglomerate, Wichtech, has been discovered to be fake.

The said WAEC certificate was issued in December 2004 which implies that Wilson Chidozie sat for his WAEC examinations at the age of 39. This is exceedingly improbable.

An in-depth research into his history and a thorough study of his biography in his recent publications indicate some mistiness around his secondary school education. None of the publications reveal that he ever sat for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination.

Furthermore, specialists who examined the certificate thoroughly found that multiple modifications had been done, and as a result, many of the details supplied on the certificate are suspicious. According to them, the name on the certificate looks to have been attached, and the passport image appears to be that of someone other than the certificate's owner.

Wilson Chidozie has been unable to give an actual copy of his presumed WAEC certificate till now, confirming suspicions. In order to play on the intelligence of INEC officials, APC stakeholders, and the naive people of Anambra, all he had to display was a string of funny-looking photocopies. This is a heinous crime that might cast further doubt on other APC’s candidates for the Anambra 2021 gubernatorial elections.

He who seeks equity must do so with clean hands, hence anyone calling for free, fair, and credible APC primaries must first provide legitimate documents before being allowed to run. APC is anticipated to spring into action to protect the party's image from such a heinous act.

Absconding from duty because one receives 30k seriously is wicked. I just hope employers can build mutual trust between them and their employees. and with all been said, the money is for the company and it is wicked to keep collecting it if one has disengage him/herself from the company.

Can I remove her name?
Most people seems not to understand the essence of the program. The program is not a gift for staffs but a relief for the owner of the business. I know some people who applied for the fund who pays their staffs more than 30k and need to balance for the short fall. Those of you who think its right for a staff to abscond after receiving survival fund are not totally being fair.....some school owners have experience same problem......imagine a school owner with more than 20 staffs but could only register just 10 out of them and most of them decided to abscond with the fund that was suppose to be of benefit to 20 staffs. And if we really want to be fair with business owners we all know that is crazy being a business owner in Nigeria.
Now a staff that is suppose to be Working at a place received 30k and leaves the job.....the owner of the business will have to replace the staff that left....... meaning the business owner will have to employ another person and start paying that person from his own purse which means another man's business is paying someone not his staff while he or she continues to labour hard to remain in business.
I think at this point every party needs to be considerate ..... because, either we like it or not the fund will stop eventually.

EducationPayment Of School Fees Gradually Returning To Oyo Public Schools by Harlex(op): 9:25pm On Jan 26, 2020
Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo state after been sworn in as governor of Oyo state on May 29 2019 announced the readiness of his administration to adopt the free education policy in all the state owned Primary and Secondary schools across the state.

We will like to recall that the immediately past governor of the state Senator Ajimobi introduced a one thousand Naira per term school fees across all the state owned public school which was widely condemn by Engr. Seyi Makinde who was then the candidate of the people democratic party.

Although, there have not been any public declaration by the state government that it is reintroducing school fees in all it public schools.

Information reaching us at Eduwheel from a reliable source narrated ugly event that took place at the Government College Ibadan, where members of the old student association complained to parents that it could no longer continue to shoulder the responsibility of paying PTA teachers in the school and if the association must continue to pay those bills then it will have to reduce the numbers of admitted students in the school.

We also interact with another parent who requested that his identity be made private and he also confirmed the development that the Old students association claimed to have spent about One Million Five Hundred Thousand Naira to settle salary and allowances of PTA teachers as the school does not have enough teacher and they could not rely on Corp Members.

Parents in Government College Ibadan have agreed to resume paying the 3000 naira school fees abolished by the state government as there’s no sign the government is ready to employ more teacher in to the state teaching service anytime soon.

Also at Queens College, Emmanuel Alayande school of science and some more, there are also reports that parents pay similar fee in other to engage the service of private tutors in other not to stall academic process of their children.

We urge His Excellency Engr. Seyi Makinde to urgently constitute a panel to look into the issue of inadequate teacher in Public schools across the state, because there are schools in the state with no functional PTA, which will make employing private teachers a daunting task.

We will also continue to monitor the situation and promise to update our readers as soon as more information reaches us.

PoliticsThe Controversy Of The 37 Billion Naira National Assembly Renovation by Harlex(op): 7:33pm On Dec 31, 2019
The Controversy of 37 billion naira NA renovation,Politicians Playing the Good guy Script as usual

Its no news that the Federal government just approved the sum of 37 billion naira for the renovation of the National Assembly.
The approval have since received wide condemnation from Nigerians and most people are of the opinion that the country would have put the said amount into other useful live changing sector such as Education, Health etc which have little from the 2020 National Budget.

The controversies generated from the approval of 37 billion naira house renovation have also begin to catch the eye of politicians as most members of the house have now see the event as an avenue to be in the good book of Nigerians. Most of them not act like they have not set eye and learnt of the contract to renovate the National Assembly as most of the have not started going inline with the view of the public on the need to invest the said amount on Nigerian rather than a building which still could still continue to perform all what it has been built to do without spending such amount on renovating it.

Read Tweet from Rep. Bamidele Salam from Osun State
Bamidele Salam
@bamidelesalamBS
I am a member of @nassnigeria but I sincerely do not think we need a 37 billion Naira renovation of that edifice now.

Apart from the Chambers of NASS which need some upgrade in the audio & recording system, the entire structure needs no renovation more than our classrooms,

Oloye Akin Alabi
@akinalabi
I see no reason why we should spend N37b renovating the National Assembly. Yes, we need upgrade on some aspects like the electronic systems (sound system, voting system etc) as they are outdated but N37b? No. Let’s spend that on our schools and hospitals.

One would actually not fault those who thought some of these politicians are just taking advantage of the news to appear in good books of most Nigerians. You guys were in the same house when this bill was passed and yet you people did not raise your voice against it. It never too late has i also agree with you guys that there’s a lot 37 billion naira can do in a country that has been adjoin the head quarters of people living in poverty.

We must priotise investment in human as a critical part of our politics. Education should not just come to the mind of politicians just because it is easy to pay politics with it. Investment in Arms or security, roads, building, commerce can not bring as much change to the nation compare to what Education can give or deliver to us all.

Education2019: Brief Review Of Education In Nigeria by Harlex(op): 4:36pm On Dec 25, 2019
As we gradually approach a new year, we can say it has been a year full of diverse form of education. Ranging from Law, academics, finance, medicine, governance and security.

Though little achievement has been recorded in the education sector, for government it was business as usual as nothing shows commitment from the federal government and several state government in repositioning the sector.

One of the low point is the reappointment of the Minister of Education Mallam Adamu Adamu whose first terms in office recorded no substantial achievement. His reappointment came to most of us in the sector as a surprise as we were actually expecting a new and sound mind to occupy the office.

Jamb was also another agency which primary objective has been change to majorly generate fund for the government. This year the board conducted one of the worst computer based UTME exam as results of a computer based examination took the board forever to release. The board reasons for such delay was that there were irregularities in the process. So far, the board has receive little or no commendation of the conduct of its exam but has rather received heap of praises for generating revenue. Someone please tell Jamb and the federal government that if they want to commercialise Jamb, they should do it by selling it abroad.

Some State Governments have actually done well in repositioning the education sector in their respective states. Some of the states doing well include: Kano State with governor Ganduje placing premium of Girl child and Almajiri education. His counterpart in Borno Zulum also commission some school building in the first 100 days of his administration, and he is also working hard to get Almagiris in the state off the streets for formal Education, also on the list is the governor of Edo state who has continue to improve the face of Education since his assumption of office. The newly elected governor of Oyo sate have also priortise education and some of his achievement includes distribution of textbooks and writing material to students, providing furniture and rehabilitation of dilapidated school buildings, another high of his administration is him allocating 23% of the 2020 budget to education.

TRCN, reawakening of the teachers registration body in a good step in the right direction, but government should try and make the body achieve its objectives and not turn if to another revenue generating body. Teachers should start getting value for hard work. The idea to free the sector from untrained teachers is commendable.

Not too much can be said about the sector in terms of achievement, but we will continue to encourage all stake holder involve in the development of the sector to increase their commitments to the sector and lets have an education sector which is ICT driven, easily accessible to everyone, and also full of standards.

EducationThe Politics Of Free Education In Nigeria by Harlex(op): 4:28pm On Dec 25, 2019
It is now a popular slogan for campaigns in Nigeria for politician to promise the citizens free education. In the real sense what does Education for the masses mean to them? is it just a means of seeking cheap votes? Or just a normal slogan or saying in any political season.

I have watch and seen political office holder during their respective campaigns woo the people with promises of free education and making if look like its a big deal as they knew that all what the people understand as free is what they are not paying for.

Now the real question. The fact that you do not pay tuition or school fee does it truly make Education free. ?

The truth is that Education can never be free and will not be free hence our politicians should stop the deceit.

Why do a Nation Need to Invest in Education?

There’s a lot any nation stands to gain when she invest in her people. Countries in Africa have suffered underdevelopment because leaders do not make quality investment in their people.

Today in Africa and Nigeria we battle with so much social and economical vices which have since course a great set back to the development of our nations. Our leaders have refuse to take seriously the warefare of their people, education is one thing that the politicians have successfully been using to their political advantages.

Today our government at all level invest so much in what could have been been easily handled if we have nations of people with sound minds. We spend so much on waste, security, we find if difficult to relate vital government policies to the people due to their level of understanding.

In Nigeria politics thrive on ignorance and it is always to the advantages of our political class who do not really believe in the well being of the country. Imagine we allocate less to education and health and our leaders prefers to spend those monies on security. The same insecurity they created through their selfishness and evil nature.

Today we are faced with series of crimes some of which have never been known to us.

Investment in human is a capital project and it should be treated as such. Have government been able to save those monies meant for vital sector such as Education and Health? We have been battling insurgency for close to 20 years which have claim so many lives and has lead to loss of resources. All this is as a result of how we handle our critical sectors such as Education.

States commit so much in cleaning their environment just because the people cant just understand government intentions when they are asked to pay a little of their income for such purposes. Primary and secondary school education should be a must for every citizen and it must not continue to be delivered in the manner we have it today.

You guys travel abroad and you see their public schools, some of our political leaders get their children enrolled in public schools abroad while the one in their neighborhood is in a sorry state.

I want to plead with our leader and everyone of us, let us allow 2020 usher in a new system, so we don't continue to provide people who will continue to be a liability to their nation, we should rather collectively work for a greater tomorrow through investment in Critical sector of human Existence. No matter how much development we desire, it can only be possible by investing in Education.

EducationJamb And FG Should Tell Us Why They Are Yet To Release 2019 UTME Results by Harlex(op): 10:04pm On Apr 26, 2019
If it takes this long to release the results of a computer based exam which is 100% objective questions, JAMB should rather cancel the whole process and let us have a more acceptable UTME exams which will be so pleasing in the eyes of JAMB

There’s no country in the world that criminalise her citizens like my country Nigeria. In Nigeria everyone is assumed to have greater potential or tendency to steal, cheat, kill and even destroyed.

If Nigeria must free itself from continued and increasing crises, people must be treated with utmost respect. Government official these days try to play the role of an anti-corruption sheriff with the way and manner they feel at liberty to do and say anything.

This is the same country where a JAMB registrar who had opportunity to head a university, yet could not ensure #Nigerians get admission on merit. We won’t forget the VC that oversees an admission process where those who didn’t appear for screening were admitted to study medicine.

It is sad that those who are suppose to be at the centre promoting the image of the country continues to feign ignorance and refuse to accept the fact that they are not doing things rightly. Sometime one continue to imagine why FG thinks it must conduct UTME exam yearly

The process of having an Examination like UTME which continue to record close to 2million registered candidates yearly is a fraud. The govt. of Nigeria is using exam bodies such as JAMB to mop cash from parents and guardians.

An exam body raking in over 7.8 billion yearly in a country with the highest number of out of school children and illiterates in the world. If JAMB wants to make money for the govt., it should focus more on policies than this guerrilla style of conducting exams.

If Nigeria must make money through its exam bodies, FG should focus on policies that enable us sell our schools and exams abroad. FG cannot continue to reduce budgetary allocation for Education and expect something meaningful. One cannot be sure if they mean well for the sector.

We suggest that 1. That JAMB UTME exam should have at least 3 years Validity

2. JAMB should stop rushing. You cannot conduct a hitch free exam for 1.8million candidates in an atmosphere where everyone seems to be rushing for no productive reasons

3. JAMB should work on policy frame works that will discourage Nigerians from cheating during exam, instead of having a war like exam yearly.

4. Admission is done yearly, so why can’t we have an Exam that can be conducted in the space of six months.

5. If the validity period of the exam is increased, number of candidates taking part in the exam with reduce, which will give room for JAMB to effectively curb lots of malpractices witnessed during the exam

6. Its computer based, waiting for 2weeks to get result is unnecessary

EducationDo We Really Have Free Education In Nigeria? by Harlex(op): 10:18pm On Apr 13, 2019
We talk so much about free education and most state governors in Nigeria continue to short change their state by offering the most expensive form of basic Education. What is free about an education which dose not has positive impact to the society?
Let’s talk about free. The fact that parents do not have to pay school fees dose not translate to free education. What free about a process that lack quality. How many of this leaders can subscribe to this sham they parade as free #Education?
In 2019 we still have classrooms with no furniture, ceilings, doors, windows, etc. we are still talking of atmosphere and not man power. A state currently employed local charmers to help hunt bandits, when was the last time this state employed teachers?
How much incentives or motivation have this state given to hard working teachers in the state? Nigeria currently spend more than ten times what its spends on education in securing the country. Going back to the main topic.
Free is not applicable to #Education as a serious nation expect so much in return after giving her citizen quality education. When a nation delivers quality education to her citizens, its spend less on security because crime will seize to be the order of the day.
A nation that priortise education will have healthy citizens and there will be innovation because the mind of the citizens will be healthy. The country save more when its ensures that everyone get access to quality education.
Nigeria can thrive and if she must, it must start by offering her citizens the best. The best of Education, Health care services, food, shelter and government must stop looking at education in a perspective that after all they are not paying for it.
Education can never be free in a serious society as there are so much expectation from a person that have been given quality Education. Government should begin to reward excellence in education, reintroduction of scholarships as this will increase the desire to succeed.
Teachers should be motivated, teaching job should not be seen as inferior to white collar jobs. Government should have expectations and there must be both long and short term programmes just to ensure that they keep track of achievement and how to sustain progress made.
So it’s either we continue with the kind of free that has no focus or government embrace an Education that help save the future, where government get paid back by having a secured society, a society full of bright minds, and a society ready to do more for their country. Nigeria.

EducationWhat's JAMB Doing About Candidates Who Didn't Get The Sweet Sixteen Novel by Harlex(op): 12:54am On Apr 06, 2019
As candidates are now in full preparation and determination to partake in the forthcoming UTME exam after so much time have been committed to studying, attending extra classses and currenly all out trying to find the location of their various CBT centres.

The question now is that during registration all candidate were compelled to pay fiive hundred naira for the sweet sixteen novel and this book have not been available in most of the cbt centre about four week before the end of registraton.

Theres is no crime in the unavailability of the book, but the crime here is why JAMB still held on to the money paid for the material if its not ready to make it available.

Government agencies cannot continue to act as though they are another arm of government, where their descisions and action continues to deprive the citizens of their right. Why is Jamb not talking about failing in its responsibility to make sure that every candidate gets the novel which they had no option but to pay for?

Jamb cannot deny the fact that they knew most cbt centres at some point do not have this book available.

We are using this medium to call on Jamb Registrar to look into this matter and make sure that neccssaary paliative are provided to make sure that candidates gets full value for cash paid.

You see most of you guys that comment about politics talk like you are somewhere far away from this country or just for politics sake. I pray you never withness or exprience a ballot box snatching situation. These guys dont come to snatch ballot boxes with sticks in their hands. They cause injuries and even death to lives in the process, afeter which they get caught and some politicians in high places will come bail them. How many case of death have we ever treated after an election in this country. people just die while performing their civic responsibility and their killers get paid and bailed by politicians.

jlinkd78:
Who did this to us or who did we offend as a country. There are laid down punishment for ballot box snatchers (section 129 (4) prescribes 24 months imprisonment upon conviction for ballot box snatchers) which can culminate into life sentence if Mr President wants to show how pained he feels. Introducing d military (not police) to deal ruthlessly and at d expense of one's life is simply a call for death. The question now is why d APC are merchants of death?. El Rufai said body bags; Amaechi said it will be battle not election in Rivers rally and even sang war songs, Akpabio is Warsaw and here d President is threatening death to potential snatchers that cut across party lines. That statement alone knowing how selective this govt is ás they will turn a blind eye where it favours APC and ruthless in PDP strongholds is enough to cause voters apathy. Much can be said about the Education sector in the year 2018 but little can be said about the positive achievement of the sector throughout the year.

The year was business as usual as no new grounds were made or no tangible achievement was recorded aside few policies that were implemented which has had little or no effect on the growth of the sector.

The president continue to show little knowlege on how to improve the education sectors and that was reflected when the government of President Muhammadu Buhari allocated only 7.04% of the 8.6 trillion 2018 budget to education. One would have assumed that having a professor as the vice president will create succor.

Some of the areas where the Government have score high and low include:

SCHOOL FEEDING

Nevertheless, the government have maintained the school feeding program but the effect of the program is not seen in most part of the country as Nigeria now have more out of school children than it had in previous years.

JAMB REMITTANCE
Jamb continues to remit huge abount of money to the government, a lot of people will like to view this as an achievement solely because the exam body has never had remittances to government coffer like it is currently doing. Though i still do not believe in the mothod of mopping up cash from the system in the name of examination, similar examination body like JAMB in other countries makes profit from international students, so, not until government is ready to deliver qualitative education to its people the process of remitting 7.8 billion naira will continue to affect the economy of the masses.

REDUCTION IN EXAMINATION FEE (JAMB,NECO,BCE,NABTEB)

About a month ago, the government announced reduction in price for all its exams, though the reduction are not what most of us expected but its still a welcome development. I will have expect a reduction of about 50% on all the examinations. I mean a Nation like ours should gift exams instead of making it a burden to the society.
I would have advice those in authority to look into JAMB charges, i mean the charges are bocoming more burdensome than paying for the exam. The process see candidate path way with lots of money in the name of change of course/institution, regularisation , data correction, admission letter, result slip, etc. students now gets two admission letters, one from JAMB and the other from the school.

ACCEPTANCE FEE MENANCE
Payment of acceptance fee has become another way schools extort money from parents. One can only imagine why a federal university will charge thirty thousand naira 30,00 in the name of acceptance fee while their counterpart at the state level charge well over fifty thousand naira 50,000. Government should please look into these process as it is currently discouraging prospective students in their pursuit of higher education.

INDUSTRIAL ACTIONS
All unions in our tertiary institution have had one reason or the other to engage the government on issues bodering on welfare and academic funding. Currently the academic union of both Universities and Polytechnics have left the class room to engange in a battle that only has one looser, the students. Academic callender have constantly been distrupted on several occassion this year alone. The question is, would Nigeria ever have a government that will be ready to fufil all its funding obligations to the academic community?

WHERE IS OUR MINISTER FOR EDUCATION?

Most people will beg for this question to be answered. The minister has been quiet and one can hardly point out to any policy direction from his office. No wonder his ministry has been getting peanut from annual budgetary allocation. The minister is one of those people who should have never had any dealings with that office. The ineffectiveness of the man has made his minister of state for education more redundant as nothing is coming from the oga himself. I think it is high time Nigeria got herself a vibrant and young person in that ministry if the government is serious about improving the sector.

LEAH SHARIBU STILL IN CAPTIVE

The attack on Dapchi is still fresh on our minds and we continue to wonder who the script writer of the whole scene was. Nonetheless, we are gratefull for the release of the girls and we will continue to demand the release of LEAH. Such a scene should never repeat itself again because education cannot thrive where students and people feel insecure. We want to implore the government to step up negotiation for the release of LEAH SHARIBU. Never again should our schools and students come under any form of attack.

IS THERE ANYTHING ABOUT THE EDUCATION SECTOR TO HOPE FOR COME 2019?

I hope government will continue to sustain the school feeding program and hopefully the program will start in the remaining states of the federation. Government should Improve on security as the nation heads for the polls and students would be resuming back to school in a matter of days. On whether there will be any significant improvement to the whole process, i will say one can only hope. I don’t see what a 5.71% 2019 budgetary allocation to education can achieve if the 7.01% allocation for 2018 had no significant achievement. Academic Unions should brace up for more industrial actions, because i don’t see government meeting their demand if the only amount that goes to the sector is used to service recurrent expenditure.
Irrespetive of dwindling resources, government can still achieve a lot if they focus more on implementing workable policies just as the school governing board of the Oyo state government is helping to change the face of public schools across the state.

In the year 2019 all hands must be on deck in making sure we have a more fruitful outing. Everyone must get involved and contribute positively for a more prosperous 2019.

NYSCWhy Do Nigerians Need NYSC? by Harlex(op): 8:56am On Sep 16, 2018
The NYSC scheme is one of many government programs or policies that have stand the test of time. The program continues to wax strong as years pass bye. This is due to the increase desire of Nigeria youth to participate in the one year scheme due to privileges enjoyed and hope for better opportunity during and after the one year compulsory service year.

It is indeed service to the nation as the scheme have grown to become one of the major source where schools seek for graduate teachers at little or no cost. Both government and other private school owners depend so much on the service of these graduates to fill up short falls of teachers in their schools.

The method of deployment or posting is one of those things that make the scheme unique as graduates are always apprehensive of their state of deployment, because most Nigerian graduate want to serve in a familiar terrain. In most cases corps members are mostly posted outside their state of residence, birth and even away from their geo-political zones.

This practice brings to the fresh graduates a whole new experience and exposure, because they get to meet different people from diverse ethnicity, culture and religious beliefs. It also gives corps member the opportunity to work both individually and as a team.

Some people have called for an end of the scheme while some believe the scheme need s to undergo major reforms, but irrespective of what you think no one can downplay the role of the scheme in the Education sector of our dear country.

In my secondary school days most of my teachers were corps member from the South East and they played a major role in awakening our brain and mind at a time we had no teachers to take us science subject such as chemistry, mathematics, physics, and biology. They helped to prepare our seniors for WAEC exams. We celebrate them and sometime wish the school can just retain most of them after their service year. Little do I know then that one day I was also going to fill the same gap they filled in my academic life while I was in secondary school.

In totality the scheme have really saved the education sector from total collapse. I don’t know of any government owned school that can run smoothly without the service of these young Nigerians who sacrifice their comfort just to contribute to the society that have In turn given them so little.

We will continue to need the NYSC scheme for years to come, but we can only advice the government to continue to bring life changing reforms to the scheme. It’s not right to serve your country selflessly and one gets nothing in return.

Government need to provide more business funding for corps members, improve their welfare, provide adequate security, security should cover life, career growth and development. These young men and women need not feel abandoned by their nation because of scarce opportunity.

EducationNYSC Scandal- Resignation, First Price Adeosun Had To Pay For Her Ignorance by Harlex(op): 12:32am On Sep 15, 2018
This is Nigeria and anybody would have wondered why someone from a rich background like Adeosun could possibly forge NYSC certificate.

I started by acknowledging the fact that we are indeed in Nigeria where the legitimate could be acquired through back doors. Nigerians that have the opportunity to severe this country would understand my view point on how easy to get a genuine NYSC certificate without settling for a forged one.

What am I even saying? This is Nigeria where O’Level results that are acquired via the back doors are use to pursue legitimate admission into our tertiary institutions. Forging certificate for someone of the status of Adeosun is like saying that same fellow forged O’Level result that even those who cannot publicly express themselves passed with distinctions.

Back to NYSC, as a corps member few years back, it was obvious that the only reason why most of us that served in villages in Benue State didn’t redeploy or turned ghost was basically because we do not have the financial ability to pay the cost.

Most corps member actually believed it was a special privilege to be a ghost corps member while a few of us understands that the process was fraudulent and it was so obvious that NYSC knows such practice exist in the scheme.

So if Kemi Adeosun was aware of all this I know she wouldn’t have border herself with seeking for an exemption letter in the first place when she can just chose to appear in camp for two to three days for documentation and active the usual NYSC GHOST MODE.

NYSC final clearance for corps member was always like we are starting camping afresh as most corps members present on that day are those we have never met while diligently serving our father land.

There are so many ways which one can have his or her service years depending on how much that fellow could offer. Back then we had colleagues who come for monthly clearance but have no place of primary assignment, such corps members are always assigned to the local government where the Copper liaison officer (CLO) and the LGI are the one in charge of issuing monthly clearance letter,

Like i earlier said, it depends of your financial strength, back then we had corps member who do not come until the last day of clearance while some even gets their certificate sent to them by proxy or via post. After all DAVIDO left camp for a show in the US and even if he has a six month tour am sure there will be a way the NYSC people would make it a no issue for him.

Am sure if the former finance minister had known all these, should will have opted for a genuine NYSC certificate and would not have even thought of seeking exemption in the first place.

Nonetheless, I would have also expected that with her exposure she should have gone to the NYSC office in her state of residence instead of going through whatsoever means that produced her with a forged certificate.

EducationNigeria- Education Development Not On Government Priority List by Harlex(op): 9:07pm On Sep 13, 2018
There have been constant increase in the number of Nigerians who on daily bases yearn for basic and tertiary Education, but our nation is been managed by leaders who see education as what should be enjoyed my selected few. Even states or regions that have reputation and great desire for knowlege through the four walls of higher institutions have been met with strict resistance which mostly comes from policies of political and government officials.

The state of Education in our dear nation is never on the front burner of national discussion as the whole process have been design to keep most Nigerians in that state of the unknown. One cannot but imagine how this country would have been if the total monies expended on political jamborees, procurement of arms and ammunition, prigimages are all channel into the advancement of this sector.

Public schools across the country are in a state not worthy of learning, where we still have schools without no roofing, tables, and chairs, where parents are forced to take up the responsibility of managing the basic day to day need of the schools. The whole process is appalling and our leader continue to travel abroad where they see the ways things are being done but are never motivated to come replicate such in their respective states.

These problems will continue to grow because of our unquenchable appetite for foreign commodities and even Education.

We cannot talk about developing our Education sector when major policy makers do not trust the system they created. Over 95% of political office holder pays foreign tuition for their children and associates, so one cannot expect any meaningful development in these sectors if our political office holders don’t have stake in the whole process.

The idea to make education process difficult and devoid of any form of quality by our leaders is to make Nigerians remain in the state where they never get to understand or have the ability to know of what their fundamental rights are. The process has been design to breed enclaves for political thugs and machineries.

Our leaders continue to profit from the dilapidated state of the country’s education sectors. Am sad because this process might remain with us for a very long time if few people that have had the opportunity to enjoy the freedom education gives continue to act in silence.
