AsherStorm: Went for 2 interviews for marketing posts today and I did well in the test and interview but the pay and condition seems ridiculous.
Company A said my basic salary will be between 25k and 35k and also commission on whatever customers I bring in but the worst part is I have to sign a year BOND with them and should in case I wann leave before one year, my guarantors will pay whatever is left to be met on my target...
Company B said my basic salary will be between 20k and 25k and also commission on sales or deals I get for the company... This one has no clause of BOND.
Tfare to either one I choose is btw 200 and 300 daily and I will be living in a place where I'd have to be feeding myself.
Please advise me on whether to wait for better opportunities or take one of the two offers.
Thanks

DONSMITH123: *Nigeria Police won’t cover any officer’s crime—COMMISSIONER
By Esther Onyegbula & Faith Ake
OFFICERS of Edo State Police Command are investigating a sergeant, Umoru Babalola, who allegedly raped a nine-old-girl (names withheld).
It was learned that Edo State Commissioner of Police, Chris Ezike, ordered the arrest of the sergeant, following a report from the girl’s mother that the policeman, who was her neighbour, allegedly lured her daughter, a primary four pupil, and raped her in his apartment.
She said: “I came home and was told that Sergeant Umoru sent my daughter to buy him recharge card.
“I waited for her to come back, but she did not. I decided to look for her in his apartment. I knocked but nobody answered. I asked after him from his son and he said his father was inside.
“I peeped through the window and I saw him naked with my daughter crying.
“I started shouting and banging on the door. Other neighbours came out and we forced him to open the door. I took my daughter to the hospital where it was confirmed she was raped. Umoru had threatened to kill her if she told anybody.
“I reported to the police and another test was conducted in a specialist hospital, where it was also confirmed that my daughter was raped.”
Confirming the report, Edo State Police Commissioner Chris Ezike, said: “The case is being handled at the Family Unit. I have ordered that a test be conducted on the girl and we are waiting for the result.
“The command and Nigeria Police will not cover any crime among its officers and men. If it is true, he will face orderly room trial, dismissed and charged to court.”

Education › Re: Graduate Slips Into Gutter, Drowns After Downpour by harry509: 12:06pm On Nov 11, 2015 |
Fynestboi: The victim, who was married with children, was said to be returning home when there was a downpour which flooded the road.
As the victim attempted to jump over a gutter, one of his legs was said to have been trapped.
Eyewitnesses told our correspondent that efforts to save him were abortive, adding that the 38-year-old did not struggle with the surge.
His remains were said to have been recovered in a swamp on Odediran Street on Sunday morning.
A bundle of naira notes and a teller were reportedly found on him.
A trader, Jane Nwosu, who claimed to have witnessed the incident, said it happened around 1pm.
She said, “The man had just come out of the bank and he was about to cross the gutter when his feet slipped. People tried to rescue him but his head was stuck in the drainage.
“He appeared weak and did not struggle to save himself. The flood swept him through the drainage and everybody was helpless.”
A friend of the victim, who identified himself as Korede, said Talabi had been sick and had been admitted to a private hospital before he was discharged on Friday.
A relative, Ibikunle Oguntamu, said the family did not know he had been swept away by flood.
He said after Talabi did not return home on Friday evening, they became apprehensive, adding that they reported a case of missing person to the police.
“Yinka (Talabi) did not drink or womanise and he never kept late at night. When we did not see him and his phone was not reachable, we reported at the Ikotun Police Division.
“We later learnt he was swept away by water and we searched everywhere without any success. On Sunday morning, his corpse floated in a swamp behind Muslim College, Ikotun.”
During a visit to the community on Tuesday, the family lamented that the corpse had yet to be released to them for burial.
One of the relatives of the deceased, Mayowa Adebola, appealed to the police not to aggravate the sorrow of the family by delaying the release of the corpse.
“We plan to bury him today (Wednesday), and the police are holding back the clearance form, saying the Divisional Police Officer who is meant to sign the form is not around and our people have been waiting at the mortuary since morning.
“We beg them not to worsen our sorrow,” he added.
PUNCH Metro gathered that it was not the first time a person would drown in the community due to the blockage of the drainage.
A tricycle operator, who did not identify himself, said some residents were fond of dumping refuse into the drainage.
“Some time ago, around Governor’s Road, a student was similarly swept away by flood. A vulcaniser, who tried to save him, was also swept away.
“We were able to remove the boy and take him to the hospital where the dirty water was evacuated from his stomach, but the vulcaniser died.”
The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Joe Offor, confirmed the incident.
He said, “The man got drowned on Sunday. He had been sick for some time and he was in his house when one of his work mates called him that their salary had been paid he should come and collect his share.
“He was returning from there when he fell into a gutter and got drowned. The police have released the corpse to them.”

baminasri: Right now, I find it very hard to call myself a Nigerian. What is the point of pledging loyalty to a country that cares not for the HND graduates?
As an HND holder, I graduated with distinction (Top of my class)from the top polytechnic in Nigeria. With high hopes, I applied for the ongoing shell graduate recruitment. The recruitment process involves an online registration and series of online aptitude tests prior to oral interview. What broke my heart during the registration was when I saw the column fo where to indicate your class of degree. First option was first class. Second was second class upper. Third was second class lower and the fourth was third class/HND. This means that irrespective of your grade in the polytechnic, shell sees you as a third class graduate. Well, I have moved on. Better things ahead. My advice to HND holders is to embrace entrepreneurship. That way, we can gain respect in the society. And for the country called Nigeria that have refused to stop this BSc/HND dichtonomy, what out for HND holders who will shape the economy soon!!! well dats nigeria 4 u. ogochukwu247: Former President Jonathan, who arrived the United States Monday as a guest of the Presidential Precinct, Challotsville Virginia, has assured the international community that African leaders are displaying more commitment to democracy and good governance, as a means of engendering sustainable development and improving the lives of the people.
President Jonathan who arrived the institute accompanied by a delegation from the Nigerian Embassy in Washington, also advocated the readiness of Nigeria and Africa for the sustenance of democratic principles, peace and people-oriented governance.
He was received by Francois Baird, Chairman of the Presidential Precinct Board. The Presidential Precinct, a foremost global institution designed to empower the next generation of leaders, is currently hosting Jonathan for his role in Nigeria’s smooth democratic transition, especially with the seamless handover of power from the ruling party to the opposition.
At the Presidential Precinct breakfast, President Jonathan was received by former Governor Jerry Baliles of Virginia and Francois Baird Chairman of the Presidential Precint Board. His hosts described him as a ‘Hero of Democracy’ in Africa, a nation builder and sustainer of true democratic principles and good governance. The Presidential Precinct is a consortium uniting six American landmark institutions – four of America’s most important historic sites and two of the country’s most outstanding public universities.
These include the College of William and Mary (America’s second oldest university), the University of Virginia, William Short’s Morven, and the homes of three Founding Fathers;President Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello, President James Madison’s Montpelier and President James Monroe’s Ash-Lawn Highland. Jonathan has hit the international circuit lately, with last’s week’s appointment by Commonwealth to lead negotiations for the resolution of the political stalemate in Zanzibar, coming as his latest high profile assignment. It followed his leadership of the Commonwealth Observer Group (COG) to last month’s Tanzania general election which came as an affirmation of the former President’s towering status as the moral face of democracy and transparent polling in Africa.

Christianity Etc › Re: Why Do Most Youths Give God Peanuts? by harry509: 2:15pm On Nov 08, 2015 |
CrazyMan: Good morning and happy sunday to you all.
I'm writing this piece to notify most christian youths of their giving attitude towards God. I remember last sunday when I went to church, when it was time for offering, the girl sitting close to me just removed N20 (yes you heard me right TWENTY NAIRA!) From her purse, inserted it into the envelope and dropped it in the offering basket.
Looking at this lady, her sophisticated dressing, her phone, the kind of perfume oozing out from her, then dropping N20 to her creator.
To me I saw that as an insult to God. It would have been better if she didn't give any offering at all than embarrassing God.
If you love someone and want to appreciate him/her, even if you lack the funds to do so at the moment, you'll still go beyond your limits to prove to that person that you really love him/her regardless of what it'll cost you.
Likewise God. If we say we love him (God), then we should prove it by the kind of offerings we give to him.
If you have a boss you want to appreciate for a promotion he gave to you, would you give him a gift of N20 or N50?
Or you're a final year student whom your HOD just waived a course for so you'll graduate with your mates, would you buy him a gift of N20?
You'll end up provoking him and make him regret offering you that help rather than being commended for the gift.
In 2Samuel 24:24 David said.
And the king said unto Araunah, Nay; but I will surely buy it of thee at a price: neither will I offer burnt offerings unto the Lord my God of that which doth cost me nothing. So David bought the threshingfloor and the oxen for fifty shekels of silver.
So if a whole king like david refused to take a land offered free of charge by a law abiding citizen. How much more we who battle with foundational principalities and powers on daily basics, and still come out victorious. Thanks to the power in the name and blood of Jesus.
I want to charge us today that as we go to our various churches, we should appreciate God, if if we have nothing to thank him for, our being alive should be a testimony of his love towards us. So double your offerings by giving him something that cost you much and I'm sure that he in return would bless you abundantly.
Happy sunday to you all. well I love giving any amount I av. Am lookn 4ward 4 d day I wil gving millions as my tithe 2 GOD. Wat GOD reali need 4rm us is our hrt of good praize and good offeriing 2 him. |
Politics › Re: Saraki, Wike Meet In Porthacourt. by harry509: 1:58pm On Nov 08, 2015 |
wengerjay: Senate President, Senator Bukola Saraki will tomorrow, Monday, November 9, 2015, declare open the 2015 Annual National Environmental Consultation of the Environmental Rights Action/Friends of the Earth Nigeria (ERA/FoEN), which will hold in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital on November 9, 2015.
Also expected at one-day conference, which has the theme: “Extractives and Energy Transition: Roadmap for Zero-Carbon Development in Nigeria”, is Rivers State Governor, Chief Ezebunwo Nyesom Wike.
A release signed by Philip Jakpor, head of Media, ERA/FoEN, and made available to newsmen in Port Harcourt, said the conference will also attract critical stakeholders, experts and community people in the Niger Delta region, who will have robust discussions on energy sustainability, energy efficiency and how to utilize advanced technologies to attain zero-carbon development.
Jakpor said, “Hydrocarbon perhaps has become the quintessential product driving our existence. Almost all human activity is either directly or indirectly powered by fossil energy. The over- dependence on fossil fuel easily explains why earlier discussions about alternatives or energy transition were greeted with cynicism and rejection.
“Unfortunately, from extraction to usage, fossil fuel bequeaths conflicts, human rights abuses, environmental despoliation, and destruction of local livelihoods. It is not renewable and as such, a reckless and unsustainable use of earth’s gift.
“On the global perspective, the fossil fuel driven world has led to environmental disasters. Sea levels are on the rise, extreme weather conditions, floods, heat wave etc. are on the increase. More and more people are being displaced as a result of climate induced disasters.
“In Nigeria’s Niger Delta, oil multinationals have left the environment wrecked and defiled. Local livelihoods are destroyed, rights abuse cases are on the increase. The region is bedeviled with perennial resource related conflicts.
“The question is whether a low carbon or zero carbon development is possible? Or, put in another way, whether development can even be driven by renewable energy. The 2015 NEC will provide the platform to interrogate the discussion around impact of extractives, energy transition both at the global and national context.

Popular Nollywood actor, Chiwetalu Agu, often acts the role of a wicked man in movies. And his depictions are so real that many fans believe that is his real character.
In this chat with Showtime Celebrity, he explains that the negative reaction of fans towards his wicked roles is what actually led him into acting comic roles. Excerpts…
You seem to have an affinity for comedies; why is that? wouldn’t call it affinity. Years ago, I found out that most of the scripts that were brought to me didn’t have comic relief; I was always given roles of a wicked man and I got to understand that most of my fans were not pleased with it. Some of them felt it was something real, and the consequence was that whenever I stepped out in public, I was caught in embarrassing situations. I then decided to be infusing comic relief even when I’m playing wicked characters because I’m a veteran screen writer.
In the early 80s, we were operating in NTA Enugu, which was formerly Anambra Television Channel 50, so the talent is there, and I combined it with the wicked roles they were giving me. The result is that when you are watching me play a wicked role, you will still have cause to laugh, and ease your tension. In fact, I have achieved a lot by doing that.
Can you share instances when fans reacted to you with the belief that you’re a wicked man?
They have done daring things. Some of their actions look like attacks, but with my experience as an entertainer, I will say I saw all that coming, so I was able to manage all of them very well. But one day, while I was on Onitsha ‘Head Bridge’ on my way to Asaba, there was this traffic snarl that made us come out of the car. One fan came to hail me and slap me on the shoulder in the course of appraising my unique style of acting.
Some other persons cautioned him, and he fired back by saying, ‘Don’t you know this man is my all-in-all? He makes me happy; whenever I’m not happy, I just slot in his movie, and I become happy.’ That was an embarrassing incident, but I saw it coming because that was the period I was playing evil diabolical roles. However, I also touch lives, because sometimes when we shoot movies, it’s like we’re telling some people’s life story. You know, talking about what happens in various families where wicked uncles deal with their nephews and things like that. But like I said earlier, I thank God that I have found a way of getting people to laugh at the same time they watch me play wicked roles.
Is there any role you would love to play that you’ve not had the opportunity to?
I am planning my own production outfit, and the name of my company is Chukwuwetalu Films. By the grace of God, when we take off, I’m going to be playing roles such as a true man of God, a romantic figure, and other characters that people haven’t really seen me portray. My fan clubs all over the world will then have the opportunity to see me doing well in those areas.
Some people say that Nigerian actors are not properly trained; what do you have to say about that?
We can’t do without film schools. There should be regular workshops where actors will be trained and retrained because all we have been doing mostly came from no background. But I will still commend our people because without a solid background, they have been able to prove their mettle, and I know that everything is going to improve in terms of acting when these schools start working and people go there on regular basis to get trained. It will help the industry grow better.
Recently, a picture of you grabbing the boobs of an actress, Anita Joseph, on a movie set went viral; what really happened?
They are my daughters. It was a story, and we were playing our roles. Maybe you didn’t have time to watch that movie to understand what was going on.
The main character in that movie was Ini Edo who was rascally, and more of a tom-boy. If she fought with my daughters, she would defeat them, so I did everything to prepare strong grounds for them to overpower her, but it wasn’t possible. So I said since that failed, let’s look for another way to prepare them to live their lives, so that any suitor who sees them will fall in love and marry them. That way, they will be useful since they failed in fighting a common enemy. The scene that went viral was where I was dressing them up for a burial ceremony that was coming up where I expected men to see them, and to find them attractive enough to take as wives. You know women’s bust plays a very big role in attracting any man who comes as a suitor, but people who wanted sensation made the picture go viral to sell their media.
If I tell you now that I help some children in the motherless baby’s home, it may not be as sensational as when they say that I raped a minor.
But how does your wife react to scenes like that?
If I have up to one million fans, my wife will be number one. The greatest joy she derives is watching me act; no matter how negative the role is, because she is the only person that knows me better than anyone else since we live together. She knows how gentle and wonderful I am.
She also knows how philanthropic I am because I always love to help humanity. So when she sees me in those kinds of scenes, she knows I’m just acting. Each time I churn out a catch-phrase, byline or slogan, she laughs so hard that even the person who is one mile away will hear the sound. She doesn’t find anything I do in films embarrassing at all; the reverse is the case.
You mean she even tells you to do it better if she feels it’s not good enough?
Yes, she chips in her own advice on how to make my acting more comical. She knows I’m a very strong comic character; comedy is in my nature, and that is the first thing that makes her happy that I’m her husband.
There are some husbands that always have hard countenances, and their wives fear them, but I’m not like that. As far as I’m concerned, she is my biggest fan.
Is any of your children taking after you?
My second son is comical in nature. At times, he goes out of his way to wear women’s dress to make caricature out of some ideas. Then my first son; each time I return from anywhere, he greets me with the slogan of my last movie he watched. One of my daughters is a fashion designer, and whenever she dresses herself up, she looks more attractive and fashionable than any other girl of her age.
The creative nature runs in the family and I’m sure that when they all come out of school, they are going to fit into my company because it’s going to be a conglomerate by God’s grace, producing many titles, including comedy, tragedy, and many others. I’m also going to be involved in distributing directly to houses and offices.
So you encourage them to take it serious?
Why not? Their school fees come from what I’m doing, their feeding, and everything about their welfare comes from this. They have shown the flair already; all I have to do is encourage them.
How do you intend to surmount piracy with your company?
I believe that the biggest problem in the industry is piracy. About five years ago, I went to NIPOST in course of carrying out a survey on how to make marketing work and beat piracy. I bought a book called post codes from NIPOST, and it contains all the street codes and numbers in Nigeria. After that, I went to the National Population Commission (NPC), Abuja, to get two of their books which contained records ending 2006.
When I start my company, my subscribers, who will be up to 50million, will be paying into a designated account. Whenever anybody pays, the official vehicles of my company, will deliver the consignment either to the person’s house or office wherever they are in the country. The movies will not be sold on the open market, so if you see it in the open market, everybody will know it’s a pirated copy. good 1 there frm him. |
