Some police officers were seen brutally beating a young man while trying to arrest him at Graceland in Oyigbo town, Rivers state earlier today. The young man whose offence is not known -refused to enter the vehicle brought by the officers.
He was given a serious beating by the angry policemen who used sticks, rods, gallons and all sorts of weapons they could lay their hands on.Even a nieighbour who came to plead with them also received his own share of slaps from the security operatives.

But he is only 28 years old. On Monday, June 13, 2016, he stood out among his peers. He had just been sworn-in as the Sole Administrator of Agege Local Government by the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode.
Gbenga Abiola was the cynosure of eyes at the event. He was the beautiful bride. Everyone wants to talk to him, particularly the media. At 28, Gbenga was perhaps the youngest ever council boss in the state and of course one of the ladies at the event said, “so cute, he is the most handsome among the lot.”
As the boss of Agege Local Government, Gbenga has a heavy burden on his young shoulder but he is confidence of delivering the good. “I have confidence in God and I’m equally confident that my political leaders are there for me. I also have confidence in the staff of the local government. By the special grace of God, we will deliver,” he said humbly.
Gbenga had his primary education at the Eucharistic Heart of Jesus Nursery and Primary School, Epe and proceeded to both Government College, Ketu, Epe and Folbim High School for his secondary education.
He attended the University of Lagos for his tertiary education graduating with honours as a Bachelor of Science degree holder in Psychology. He had his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Ekiti having his primary assignment at Usi Ekiti.
He was Director, Featland Children School; Internet/Business Strategist for e-Script and until his appointment as a Sole Administrator, Special Assistant on New Media and Publicity to the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa.
His hobbies include: strategic communication, table tennis, football and high jumping. He is a die hard supporter of FC Barcelona of Spain.

Stephen Jnr and Jennifer Keshi have arrived Nigeria for preparation of their father, Stephen Keshi's burial. The former Super Eagles Coach died in Edo state last week Wednesday June 8th. Stephen Keshi Jnr says they are working with the Federal government, Delta and Edo state government and other well meaning Nigerians to give him a befitting burial. No date has been fixed for his burial.

This man pictured above is a bus driver whose vehicle got into a terrible accident on the highway.
The wreckage of the crash is seen right behind the man in these photos.
He reportedly survived the ordeal miraculously without a scratch even though the vehicle was a total wreck.
Obviously overwhelmed by his luck, the man was seen going down on his knees to give God thanks.
The exact location of the crash or the identity of the man are not readily clear at the moment.

state was shot dead by unknown gun men in Yenagoa Bayelsa State capital yesterday.
Until his death he was a Youth Corp Member serving
with the Bayelsa State Ministry of Works. Efforts by our correspondent to reach NYSC PRO for an offical
statement prove abortive as his phone rang unanswered.
However an NYSC official working with Yenagoa zonal office who does not want his name in print confirmed in good authority that James was shot last night and rush to FMC Yenagoa where he gave up early hours.
According to him his body has been deposited at the
morgue pending when investigations by the police into the killing are over.
The spate of killings in Yenagoa took a new dimension this year, it will be recalled that Igbo traders stage a protest sometime in April to protest the assassination of their members. nigeria, am tired of dis country. President Muhammadu Buhari will today visit Rivers State to inaugurate the clean-up of the Ogoni land ravaged by oil spill and production degradation.
The clean-up will be inaugurated at Numuu-Tekuru Waterfront in Bodo-Ogoni, Gokana local government in line with the recommendations of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) report on Ogoniland’s environmental assessment. It was presented to former President Goodluck Jonathan on August 12, 2011.
Ahead of the visit, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) were yesterday trading accusations over alleged plot to disrupt the president’s visit.
But Governor Nyesom Wike sued for peace, urging the people to give a rousing welcome to “our amiable president.”
In a broadcast, the governor said: “As part of measures to enhance security during Mr. President’s visit, I hereby place a ban on the operations of motorcycles and tricycles in Gokana and Khana LGAs between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Thursday, 2nd June 2016. The security agencies have been directed to enforce this ban and ensure full compliance.
“I call on Rivers people, particularly the people of Ogoni land, to come out in great numbers and give our amiable President a rousing welcome during his visit.”
The governor added: “It is historic because it marks his first official visit to the state since assuming office as the President of this great nation. It is most significant because Mr. President is not on a political mission, but to kick-start the largest environmental clean-up in our nation’s history, for which Rivers people, and indeed the Niger Delta, will remain grateful.
“I call on Rivers people to be peaceful, law-abiding and demonstrate the traditional Rivers hospitality towards Mr. President and his distinguished entourage throughout the visit. As I have noted earlier, Mr. President is here as the father of the nation, who cares about the environmental and developmental challenges that we face as one of his primary constituencies.
“Accordingly, his presence in Rivers State is not an occasion for political campaigns by anybody or political party. Rather, it is an occasion and an opportunity for us to demonstrate unity of purpose and our readiness to work together with Mr. President to move Rivers State.
Ogoni leaders were yesterday holding meetings at Korokoro-Tai-Ogoni in Tai local government area, to ensure the success of the visit and for the youths not to allow themselves to be used to disrupt the strategic visit.
Paramount rulers from the four Ogoni local government areas, – Khana, Gokana, Tai and Eleme – as well as the President of the Movement for the Survival of the Ogoni People (MOSOP), Legborsi Pyagbara; youth leaders, women groups, religious leaders and top politicians, among others, attended the meetings.
Rivers APC, through its Publicity Secretary, Chris Finebone, alleged that hoodlums working for the PDP would protest in Ogoni during the president’s visit.
But Special Assistant on Electronic Media to the governor, Mr. Simeon Nwakaudu, accused the APC leaders in the state of wanting to cause confusion.
Rivers police Spokesman Muhammad Ahmad, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), yesterday said: “The Police are fully prepared about the President’s visit in line with our operational order and in conjunction with the military.
“Mr. President is the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. So, you must expect the security to be very tight, to avoid any incident. With the deployment of adequate personnel and necessary equipment already done, water-tight security will be provided.”

Four students of the University of Lagos, Akoka, Lagos, have been arrested by the Ogun State Police Command for attempting to resurrect the corpse of a 300-level student of Microbiology, Eniola Jacob .
The suspects are Inerima Alaniye (a 400-level student of Mathematics); Awe Raphael (a 500-level student of Law); Adeboye Adeshola (a 200-level student of Political Science); and Arawomo Stephen.
It was reported that Jacob allegedly took an insecticide, Sniper, last Saturday on the campus.
He was said to have been rushed to the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Idi-Araba, where he died on Sunday.
it was also reported that students who attempted to resurrect his corpse were leaders of the Cherubim and Seraphim Students Fellowship on the campus.
Jacob was said to have been a strong member of the fellowship before his death.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, said the students’ behaviour and actions at Jacob’s grave were suspicious, adding that they had been transferred to the State Department of Criminal Investigation, Eleweran.
The police spokesperson said during Jacob’s burial, the four students suddenly emerged and asked that the corpse be exhumed.
He said, “They were arrested at the graveside. They were arrested because their actions were suspicious. They insisted on exhuming the corpse that had been buried. They said they wanted to resurrect it. It came to us as a surprise that in this modern age, some group of young boys would come out and say they want to resurrect a dead man.
“We felt it was a strange development. If they were not cultists they would not make such a demand. We thought they were looking for parts of the deceased to tamper with and we took them to Eleweran for further investigations.”
The Public Relations Officer of the University of Lagos, Mr. Toyin Adebule, said he could not confirm the arrest of the students.
He, however, confirmed that Jacob took Sniper on the school premises.
He said the police had taken over the case and a corona inquest had begun.
He said, “This is a corona case and the school is not involved. It has nothing to do with the university. What happened was that he (Jacob) took Sniper and after taking it, the security was informed. He was initially talking, but suddenly he collapsed.
“He was rushed to the school’s health centre where he was resuscitated. Around 7pm, he was rushed to LUTH where he died some hours later. There is no indictment. I am not aware that some students of the school have been arrested.”
