If I wan get something like the one you send,na around 16000 cedis or more and landlords in GH prefer USD payment. Abeg, no follow me argue again until you travel out and see for yourself. abeg close your mouth. Abuja is even more expensive than lekki.. there are more expensive houses than the one I posted in abuja. You're just looking for cosolation. I don prove say naija cost pass.. Bring any price of house in ghana and ill show you a naija equivalent that is more expensive.. truth is that naija is more expensive..youre just selecting what you want |

Na when you won spend am outside na dier you go say America better pass although plenty people for naija no dey make 500k monthly but the ones way dey see am especially single persons na good amount b that. you must be dreaming.. 500k isn't much money in Nigeria right now..you aren't better off in any way.. Besides how many Nigeria workers earn up to 500k?? You guys are always quick to mention cost without talking about income... Income determines your standard of living not cost |

josephsm823: Didn't you read when I said some are furnished? Look at this two bedroom apartment I got in Tamale in my last visit for 3400 cedis per month. I'll also attached another house they put on sale. I saw the house when the agent was showing me around. Most Ghana landlords won't even collect cedis from you, they prefer USD. Like I said you need to travel, check other places before you argue blindly. I can also show you one bed apartment that cost 16000 to 25000 cedis. 3400 cedis isn't close to 1k dollars. It's around 250k naira Which isn't cheap.. Since its furnished. I'll show you 2 bedroom that costs almost 400k per month in lekki ... And isn't even furnished... From our arguments you can see that Nigeria isn't cheaper at all in fact its bit more expensive... you can't even prove that Nigeria is cheaper than Ghana..

josephsm823: I still insist you travel to Ghana and see. House for 1.5m per annum is cheap for a place like Abuja. In Accra you pay in USD. $1k to 5k monthly for that kind of apartment you just mentioned now, though some are furnished. You should probably visit Ghana one of these days. $5k per month for ordinary Ghana how much con be 1 bedroom for london, or houston... these your lies no get part 2.. keep it up. even in new york such house it's around $1.5 - 2k per monthBring up the ad for that house from Jiji... lets see.. |

Last time I was there, the two bed I paid for one month was around 150k. You can get a room and parlor self contain in some areas in Lagos for 120-200k per annum. Check am bro. Some furnished apartmenst in Ghana cost around $1000 to $3000. I stopped taking you serious when you said you can rent room and palour in lagos for 120k.. are you really serious It's obvious you have no idea what you're saying..i live in the north(not lagos but jos), and paid 135k for a single room,( single room oh not room and Parlour) and that was 2020 not even 2023... And youre here blabbing trash.. There is no way that any thing is cheaper in Nigeria so just shut up.. You don't know how economics works.. dig up the ad for a house in accra, from jiji and I will dig up similar house in abuja then we check... Not this random shit youre saying all over the place. I too can do the same pulling out random prices from specific situations, but I don't engage in such dull conversation.. |

lawani: Expensive rent in Nigeria exists mainly in highbrow areas of a few cities. Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt mainly and maybe a few places in Ibadan, Kano and Kaduna but the first three are the main ones. Nobody will pay one million per annum for one room in the last three cities. Lol lagos and abuja are main cities in Nigeria .. If you want to compare two countries compare their capital. You can't compare rent in accra to sokoto..then you say rent is cheaper in Nigeria ... You can go to the forest and live there for free no body will charge you rent any where in the world... So Compare rent in accra Ghana to abuja Nigeria.. And you'll see Nigeria is just as expensive if not more than Ghana.. Also take note of the quality of house youre comparing... Else na rubbish you dey do... |

tosinhtml: She is lying, I checked her thread on Twitter & found people living in that area in Houston * rent is not 9600 per year (800 per month).
Average rent in Houston is $1,800 for a 2-bed since August 2022. Also apart from rent, every other thing is expensive. An average 1-hour bolt ride in Lagos will cost you about N4000 - N10,000 depending on surge. In US it should cost around $100 or more. Haircut is $30 to $150 depending on location. While Nigeria, haircut is N1000 to N5000 depending on area. Nigeria is a poor country, how can we be spending more. Nigeria is more expensive if you factor in Income and starndard of living... thats what determines prices... if you want cheap rent, leave lekki, and go live in sambisa forest, you dont even need to pay rent... whereas in lekki average rent is 500k.. can you now see how the comparison between the two doesnt make sense at all.. income potential in sambisa is almost 0... so if you increase rent from 0 to 100k in sambisa, then you say it's cheap because it's 500k in lekki ..that;s what you guys are doing here, just dog shit... no comparison of income or standard of living just mere cost like we all earn same income and the quality of live is the same.. even the quality of those things you're comparing arent the same at all... so why all these blind comparisons... |

LegendHero: You are correct about what you mentioned. USA is still better than Naija but the lady should have stated the actual truth about the cost of living instead of trying to lie to pass her claim.
That’s what I corrected on this thread.
Lastly, this minimum wage people keep saying, what is the percentage of government workers or graduates in the formal sector that earn exact 30k monthly? People shouldn’t just throw word around. I’m not sure they’ll be up to 3% of the total workforce. lol you clearly have no deep understanding to this things.. you're just been trying hard to prove a useless point... an average teacher in teh US makes 4k usd per month that is almost 4M.. but in Nigeria you will be happy to see 40k. that is more than 100x... even if you have a business over there, you'll surely make more than 1000 times your counter part in Nigeria is making, the earning capacity is too far to even compare.. besides even the job of 40k no sure for Naija due to high employment rate... so explain the income part and not only the expenses part... |
Travel › Re: Nigerian Lady Compares Cost Of Living In Nigeria And The U.S. by headboyprince(m): 7:45pm On Aug 16, 2023 |
LegendHero: Lol, the lady did some delusional tactics well. Most of the things she stated there are lies for USA or she probably live in the extreme suburb where she has to take 2hours ride to get to the nearest city.
—Consistent internet which will give Wi-Fi for a home for instance should be within $60-$100 monthly. Your phone bill could be $30, but it’s not gonna power most of your household gadgets and etc coz that $30 won’t be on an unlimited data plan.
—How can 2bed rent be $9600 per year? Does she mean in Houston for example, you’ll get a 2bed apartment for $800? She’s probably hallucinating.
In ATL for example, house rent in the city area for that 2 bed are usually within $1500-2500 per month. On top of that, you pay Light bill, gas bill, and the apartment monthly charges on sewage and common area if you live in an Apt complex. That could be additional $250 on it.
If it’s now mortgage, no way in hell will you get that monthly payment.
On average, in a city, you’ll pay nothing less than $18k yearly and that’s even being conservative. It could go up to $28k in total for most cities.
—I agree with her groceries of $700 monthly. That still make sense if you’re only spending on food.
However, to go out to a restaurant for 2 people, you spend nothing less than $80-100 in one sitting especially for Nigerian food restaurants. To the lounge, you spend nothing less than $100-$150 if you factor hookah and drinks for 2 people.
Except if you be get inside person will you even spend that monthly. Coz me I count jollification with food price. Alright now do well to mention minimum wages, even employment rates, technological advancements... even those things you mentioned are not well in the same quality. you cant compare the internet speed of the U.S with that of Nigeria, or is it security or peace of mind you want to compare |
