You earn over 4000 dollars per month in the UShuh

Well, one-off cases like yours are bound to exist.

Here too I know people who earn millions every month even in where I work.

4000 dollars is worth less in US than 4,000,000 is in Nigeria. All the devaluation doesn't have much effect in our local economy.
lol see this dullard....$4k is at 850 black market current rate is only 3.4 million naira... at official rate it's way less...the devaluation takes some time to reflect on the economy... just give it like 6 months from now.... grin

COMPAQ:
Yes rent in Nigeria is actually cheap, especially outside Lagos, Abuja and maybe PH. My parents standard 3 bedroom bungalow in Ibadan is going for N700k in Ashi-Bodija area. To find people sef na war. Ibadan has no middle class. Only UI lecturers, UCH doctors/nurses and civil servants in that town.

If I uprooted that house to Gbadaga in Lagos, it'd be like N2.5mln

But even a N5mln per annum duplex in Lekki is just $6,250 equivalent.

My 4 bedroom duplex in Houston goes for $2,500 PER MONTH. That's equivalent of N24mln per annum.
close your mouth my friend.. a $2400 per month 4 bedroom duplex in Houston angry

comes with washing machine, refrigerator and parking space, wifi, gas burner and the likes..

a house that comes with such is what you're comapring to a 700k bungalow in ibadan or 5M in lekki youre brain is doing overheating.. huh

this house below in Nigeria will go for nothing less than 20 million in Nigeria and only available in the super rich evirons like banana island, GRA, lekki, and the likes... na only the ignorant and uneducated you guys can decieve

In that Houston...
do you have 24 hour power supply to your house? Yes.

Do you have pipe borne water to all the kitchen, toilet and bathrooms with two taps on both side of the house for washing cars?

Yes. Do you have a public gas pipe direct to your kitchen for cooking? Yes.

Do you have internet in your house 24 hours? Yes.

Do you have Police that you can call and they can be there in 5 minutes? Yes.

Does your house have a 4 car carage? Yes. two spaces inside two in the driveway outside.

Can you drive from your doorstep for 14 hours to my doorstep in Atlanta on a very smooth road without any pot hole? Yes

No dey take sleep compare death.

That 1 million average that I gave is an extremely low number for very less developed areas in the cities and they are apartments.

A 3 bedroom flat for rent in Ikeja goes for like 16 million per annum.

Like I said you guys should stop being wicked. Soon there will be no place to hide for you. When hunger pushes the people to do desperate things.
ah you aren't even done.... The house comes furnished with appliances like heater, dish washers, refriegerator and the likes.. Bed, dinning chairs... To get such quality of house in Nigeria you'll pay not less than 20 million a year or around $2000 per month so how is it cheap in Nigeria ... huh grin

Na only mum these guys fit decieve...

How many of those things do you enjoy in Nigeria? Even for someone earning 100k per month. In those countries like the US when you pay for light, medicals, etc you enjoy them to the fullest. In Nigeria one is paying 5k for light monthly yet at the end of the month you are already spending more than 10k on petrol for generator. Those countries enjoy good roads, good infrastructures that makes life easy. And for those bills you talked about like light, medical, tuition; my dear it's not by force, if you like you can cut Dem off and when you pay for them be sure you can enjoy them to the fullest
don't mind them they can only deceive the gullible...have you noticed that all the people supporting this shit are those in power, abroad or those those living large ...

No body earning minimum wage will come out to say that our fuel is cheap...

For godsake everything will look cheap to you when youre super rich.

CareerRe: Is Japa Worth It? by headboyprince(m): 12:51pm On Jul 25, 2023
hazinibones:
Hello Nairalanders,

I have this decision bothering me. I know it is a personal problem, but I believe everyone need some guidance at every point in life.

Straight to it, I have been considering Japa for over two years now and I think the opportunity might be here but I am having a cold feet.

I recently started working for a foreign company as a software engineer and the pay is decent when converted to Naira. Enough to live an averagely comfortable life. But my challenge now is that, I have been talking to some friends that are outside the country and they keep telling me how life is not easy there and cost of living is super expensive out there.

I currently earn $3000, which I plan to either save and travel or startup a business here in Nigeria. Please, Nairalanders with experience, is it worth japa to live an almost average life for almost the rest of your life or investing here in Nigeria and growing wealth?

The healthcare and quality education benefit is there as an advantage for japa though.

Thanks in advance for your responses!
i see people telling you to stay in Nigeria... Really with all that is happening in Nigeria you still want to stay.. huh even your politicians and super rich men japa at every slight opportunity...

the only reason they havent fully relocated is because they make their money in Nigeria... except you're making that your money in Nigeria, it's best to leave..

this country has no future.. think about your future...you can lose your job tomorrow.

you mustn't go to the U.S or U.K, you can go to a small country, with stable power supply, good water supply, and security... then invest your money....

your life and future is more important than anything.. Nigeria isn't even safe a single bit..

there.. those telling you abroad is expensive are all liars.. things are more expensive in Nigeria when you factor in standard of living and inflation ... tell them to come back home to Nigeria if they think abroad is too expensive and watch them snub you... grin

And don't even try to compare security or health care in us to Nigeria - LOL when you have to buy ordinary pack of Paracetamol from pharmacy for equivalent of N5,000 , and your health insurance provider bills you equivalent of N200k for a 15 minutes video chat with a doctor, your brain will begin to complain and tell you falling ill in US is a terrifying thing.

Anyway, have a nice week.
------- what sort of bullshit are you even saying...are you really serious right now angry

in the U.S tap water is free, Health care is free (even without medical insurance), security 911 is totally free...

as for electricity, ithe average household pays $122 for 24 hours light which is just 10% of minimum wage in the US

but in nigeria you pay around N15k per month for average of 15 hours light...
then you need to buy generator fuel it at around N150k per month for average of 8 hours per day

thats N165k ($205), or around 500% of minimum wage for 24 hours light...

mind you i havent even add the cost of generator and repairs and maintenance shocked

an average biz that requires 24 hours in Nigeria is bleeped..

and what the hell are you saying in the last paragraph... huh you're comparing price of paracetamol in the U.S to Nigeria in naira ... since when did you started using naira in the U.S... huh

mimium wage in the U.S is around 1.2k usd that is around 30x what nigerians earn as mimum wage and you will be still owed salaries for month..

How many Nigerians can afford 50k or have such amount in their bank account? People like Mr Reno don't even bother to come down to the ghetto and see what's going on here.

$65 or 50k is a lot of money to an average Nigerian like me, as far back as 2018, despite being an intelligent kid I had no choice but to give up my dream of going to college.

Look, the only reason I'm commenting is to tell the world that amount is a lot to an average Nigerian and we'd have to work our as$ out to make that amount.
don't mind them they wont tell you that the money doesn't include feeding and accommodation, handouts and screening ..

even in small ghana you don't pay such..and after graduating you'll start driving keke napep or turn glnd customers.. grin

You are so naive .
"what has the govt done with the 10%" - did you pay ? 99% of Nigerians not on PAYE tax will never pay.
"over there healthcare is free" - In which country specifically. It is all paid from your tax in UK. In US I paid 40% tax and must still pay separately for my health insurance.
"their security is intact." - true, but it never stops hundreds of people from being shot every day.
.infact their govt will pay you salary if you're unemployed - there is nothing automatic about this. It is all conditional.

The argument here is that Nigerians no more know the purpose and value of education because it is cheap. In the US it is common to find students working part time to be able to be able to pay for their university education. Nigerians want it all easy on a platter of gold. That is why most Nigerian companies will rather hire a student who studied abroad than the best of those that studied in Nigeria. Because the other knows how to work to achieve a desired purpose...at any cost.
youre the naive one here..since when did tax become optional... huh
We pay taxes in Nigeria indirectly.. We pay on imported goods, property tax, vat..the govt generated a whopping 40 billion from tax in 2021 alone

What has the govt done with all the tax money huh

Because the citizens provide everything for themselves water, light, security, health care, even roads...

Yet they keep suffocating us with more bills..if I want to pay more ill enroll in private school..

And don't even try to compare security or health care in us to Nigeria

The gap is as wide as from here to the sky...Nigeria is almost the most terrorised country on earth...

This is a country where even the IG of police can be kidnapped in broad day light ...some villages have been deserted due to terrorism..

Since you so much love Nigeria be serious and dash me your visa. And come back to the suffering. No no no nosense.. grin
