I've noticed something with anime "good guys" like Itachi. They are usually weaker because they don't/won't carry out some inhuman or unethical augmentations that would have made them stronger. See how strong Madara, Orochimaru and Obito got after they pimped themselves.

let me throw in my take on ppl arguing about a son abandoned by dad and mum taking care of the son. I think their point is that a wise son will look for his father or at least investigate to hear the other side of the story. It's true that there are deadbeat dads and I'll always advise the sons of such men, after finding them to spit on their faces and run back home to hug the mum.

However some women can be evil. After being slighted (eg: when they've been cheated on), out of spite can block the ex's access to their children even if they want to be involved in the child's life. In the process feeding the children BS about their dad when in reality na just the babe the man no like again. Both sexes do this o. But women are more guilty.

One reason can be that he doesn't like the girl in question that much and that's it.

Another reason is that girls sometimes overload guys that they like with attention and expect to receive the same or even more attention in return. This gets to irritate and/or suffocate the guy most times causing him to withdraw. Cos sensible people don't like to start what they can't continue.

Another common reason is simple human nature. If you make a person feel like a star, it's only a matter of time before they start treating you like a fan. Humans usually can't help it. Except the person is self aware and genuinely good.
