The integrity of AFRIXM management should be question, how could you approve $800m loan for a company without due diligence? No latest audited FS. Africa financial services market I shitty
Banks don't necessary use financial statements as a determining factor for granting such loans. It is the analysis of the business deal that it important to them which I believe they must have done before granting them the loan.

The Federal High Court, Lagos, has adjourned again hearing on the date to file the Scheme of Arrangement document of energy company, Oando Plc.

In a corporate notice to the Nigerian Exchange Limited on Monday, Oando said that Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke sitting at the Federal High Court, Ikoyi, Lagos Division had further adjourned the matter to October 10, 2023.

Oando said the adjournment was to enable it to report on its compliance with the court’s order dated June 7, 2022, and update the court on the status of the Scheme of Arrangement.

I bought dangote sugar, fidelity bank, Oando and transcorp. I feel like selling my transcorp to top oando.

I’m not moved by daily price movements anyway especially as I’m in it for the long haul. I have also managed to develop some shock absorber from my days in gambling.

Once i hit it big, i quit the 9-5 rate race immediately and ride off into the sunset.
Too much imagination. You will learn.

Mind you Dangote Rice was not in the equation in 2022, I want to believe Dangote Rice is more profitable than NASCON.

With the recent ban on exportation of rice by Indian government in order to reduce the high cost of the product in India. I see Dangote Rice doing very well going forward
So is it advisable purchase more at current price? Previous entry price is 27

FMDQ LAUNCHES FIRST ETD OF ITS KIND

I was there yesterday representing my firm. It was colorful. The platform is for DM and TM only. We have the following as the DM:

1 . Access Bank
2. Zenith Bank
3. Wema bank
4. Sterling Bank
5. Stanbic IBTC

Aside this, we have 17 firms of TM of which my firm is one. The derivatives are:

1. Federal Government Bond futures

2. Dollar-Naira FX non deliverables contracts.

The underlying
Asset for the first derivatives product are basket of FGN Bonds ranging between maturity of 2 years and 30 years

The second product has $/Naira as the underlying assets

We will get there

The asset class is just derivatives. Just like you make gaaari from cassava. Gaaari is derivatives while cassava is the underlying asset. Like I said earlier FMDQ now have two separate markets for trading Federal Govt Bond and currency. One is spot market where you can actually buy and sell govt bonds ranging from 2 years to 30 years. The second is FX market where you can buy and sell FX.

To hedge those risk attached to those instruments In cash market, then derivatives market was introduced

Not that that is only two instruments that can be traded on FMDQ spot market, we have several of them. Only that two derivatives were picked to start with.

To deal in those two instruments, you must be extremely good in forecasting interest rate and FX. It is a big market that can run into trillions in a day transaction in the future if they get it right.

Just like NGX, FMDQ is the exchange where those cash market and derivatives market instrument are traded

Just like CSCS, FMDQ called their own CCP and it is called FMDQ Clear

Just like CSCS that combined both clearing and depository together, FMDQ separate their own and have another segment called FMDQ Depository

Just like a stockbroking firm whose is a dealing/Brokerage firm is called in NGX, the trading participants in FMDQ is called trading member

Just like each stockbroking firm has a bank that settled trade, FMDQ called it’s own is called Dealing member and they settle futures trade.

But remember, the minimum amount to trade with is N50,000,000 of which your initial margin is 10% deposited in your margin account
So How do we make money from all this?

If you make 50% in cutix, you can't even exit because of low volume.
Unless your holding is like 100k units which is no no for Loco.

Why comparing cutix & Dangote sugar.

Holding certain stocks that one likes can affect one's rational thinking, especially when one receives regular dividends from them.

For example, I bought 85,000 units of Zenith Bank at 22 naira and held onto them for a while, and the price went up to 30 naira. With a system to detect when a stock is overbought or ripe for a correction, the smart thing to do would be to sell and buy back later after the correction. Just selling at 30 naira and buying back at 27 naira, would have increased the holding from 85,000 units to 92,500 units without adding any new money.

Someone like me, who has developed cavities from the sweetness of dividends, would be happy to receive even more dividends in return. shocked cheesy

The point is that holding a stock indefinitely may not be the best strategy, especially if one can spot a correction coming.

grin grin grin
But the dividend yield is reduced. Unless the company increases their dividend, na broker gain for this scenario. Even the increase in dividend would have to be significant otherwise you will probably earn the same as before or less.

Is an increase in share capital good or bad?
An increase in the total capital stock showing on a company's balance sheet is usually bad news for stockholders because it represents the issuance of additional stock shares, which dilute the value of investors' existing shares.

NPF microfinance wants to transition to a DMB which will lead to increase in issued share capital. Does this mean dilution of share price?
