Family / Re: Should Parents Have A Favourite Among Kids? by HellaBella(f): 1:50pm On Oct 25, 2012
No they should not have a favourite child. However, they are humans so, of course they will have one that is a favorite. I don't think it's really a matter of whether they should have one or not. Rather, the issue should be about how parents manage the ways they treat their kids. They have to be careful not to show too much favoritism to one child over another.
Education / Re: Is It Right For Teachers To Encourage Pupils To Shame Classmates? by HellaBella(f): 1:41pm On Oct 25, 2012
blink182: You don't want the children to be flogged, you don't want them ridiculed to correction, when they become brats you still blame the school. I beg make una go sidon for one place.

And isn't teaching young children to shame their peers encouraging them to become disrespectful, self-righteous brats? Why is the teacher relying on other small kids to "correct" this child's behaviour? The fact that you don't see anything wrong in the teacher's behaviour speaks volumes.
The irony is that I bet when this teacher sees their work colleague or boss or "big man/big woman" doing wrong, he/she will keep their mouth zipped. I swear, talk about misplaced priorities.

Next person pls...i haven't got all day here.

Seriously, what about this case sounds fake? So what if the person is newly registered. Did it ever cross your mind that she may be a regular member and not want to post under her usual ID? Maybe she doesn't want people on NL to attribute the experience to her. It takes 2 minutes to create an account. Olodo. tongue tongue

Career / Re: Can My Brother Take My Government Job? by HellaBella(f): 2:42pm On Mar 23, 2012
Some of you people sha...
Those criticizing the OP aren't doing so because he recommended his brother. Read his post, the OP did not mention anything about recommending his brother to the office. Rather, people are taking issue with the fact that the OP seems to have this false sense of entitlement that a job that was once his can now be allocated to his brother. This is the problem with Nigeria. The OP should have been asking for tips about how to best talk to the management about employment opportunities for others (in his case, his bro). The OP even commented that he doesn't want the post to go to someone he doesn't know. Well if that's the case, then the OP should keep the damn job. How dare he!

Nothing wrong with looking out for his bro's best interest, but please, the entitlement needs to go.
Family / Re: Learn To Live With This: Men Owns Women. by HellaBella(f): 3:34pm On Mar 21, 2012
ZUBY77:

You are right but my main point is that money should not be paid for a human being.

@OP, but a cow as payment is okay Please enlighten me. Do you know what payment means? If I pay with cash, beans, or cow it is still PAYMENT. Why do you advocate paying for bride price with animals or food but not money?
So you are not against bride price just against paying with cash? WHY?

If beans, or eggs, a payment is still made........I'm so confused by your arguments.......

Wait, so if my husband "pays" with yams he doesn't own me/ Does the concept of ownership magically disappear because he paid with food? WTF
Family / Re: Learn To Live With This: Men Owns Women. by HellaBella(f): 3:23pm On Mar 21, 2012
begwong: @op,you are suggesting a cow in place of a bride price(dowry)?
Have you sampled the price tags on cows?
There are cows whose price tag is up to 250k if u dnt know!

Abi?! LOL is his gripe with the cost of bride price or the concept of the bride price!!! OP, come and answer o! How can you be against bride price in monetary forms but support it when it is paid with a cow? It's the same damn thing! The same transaction is taking place whether cash or cow.

Whether the price is 50 naira or 500, 000 naira it's the same issue. Your argument makes no sense at all. PS: your focus on the cost shows that you are just a cheapskate. You are not really concerned that bride price reduces women to commodities. Afterall, you think it's okay to pay with a cow. WTF!!! grin grin grin

Just say you are poor and move on. Stop pretending to care about the social implications of bride price and ownership. Pay with a cow indeed. Nonsense.

Health / Re: Hiv Positive Test A Requirement For Marriage? by HellaBella(f): 12:12pm On Dec 26, 2011
Honestly, the childish comments above really shows how Nigerians can't think. Someone came here for advice and some of you are spewing nonsense. He shouldn't marry because he has HIV? Wtf. He has every right to marry!!! He has stated that the woman knows; she's an adult and has made her choice. He is not deceiving her so I'm not sure why he is a wicked man?

Anyway OP, ignore those immature comments.

As for your issue, although it's you and your fiancees right to keep your HIV status private, if the church requires the test for marriage, the best thing to do is to be upfront with your pastor. I'm simply saying this because the last thing you want to do is deceive the church so you guys can get married. It doesn't seem like the right way to enter your marriage- lies.
However, if it's not imperative that you guys marry in the church why don't you just go to court or find another church that doesn't require the test? Alternatively, you can take the test and ask the pastor not to discuss it with other members- that you and your fiancee keep your personal issues private. Watch the way the pastor conducts himself and discuses other members in the church. Doing so will allow you to see the level of his integrity and whether or not he can actually hold his word and/or the information.

All the best in your marriage- and yes, you have every right to marry. Ignore the fools posting above.
Family / Re: Should I Be A Second Wife?help: by HellaBella(f): 1:02pm On Aug 30, 2011
Please we know she's not leaving him. Girl, get real. Stop pretending. Just know that you will be hurting the wife and probably already have.

How can you fall in love with someone that is so disrespectful to his wife and children? For you to have fallen in love with that kind of man while knowing he has a family, says a lot about your character! angry
Romance / Re: Men Deserve Engagement Gifts too? by HellaBella(f): 8:34am On Aug 28, 2011
Well OP, I will say that men do not get engagement gifts because it has been TRADITION for them not to!

How does that sound to you? Tradition tradition tradition! If it sounds silly, then good!

Sorry OP but you're probably the same type of fool that will come on NL complaining that Nigerian women no longer follow traditional roles! Yet, here you are claiming that you want engagement gifts. Do you also want your GF to propose to you?

You men don't know what you want. You cry you want traditional babes to come and clean and take care of home but now you are whining because tradition also presents them with gifts.

GTFOH! Now i see Nigerian men are slowly turning into women.

You should be ashamed for even posting this topic.
Romance / Re: Things Men Find Unattractive In Women by HellaBella(f): 3:14pm On Aug 27, 2011
ronkebp:

AM not trying to start trouble, but there are more things in men i find unattractive especially the '' i am a good man' attitude'' and ''the best man for you'', when in reality they are beasts.

This is sooo true. I hate when you meet guys and they beg you to give them a chance and say "oh I'm different from the rest. I'm not like the others." Yet the last 2 MARRIED men that approached me said the exact same nonsense! Married men with children and even rings on their fingers boldly claiming to be diff from the rest. Chei.

Saying you're diff from the rest is meaningless, especially in Nigeria because even the most evil, vile, disgusting womanizer says the same Sh*T!!! tongue

Other annoying things men do:
-breaking neck for women- almost crashing their car.
-following you around everywhere just to chat with you.
-begging for your #- you no get shame?
-swearing up and down he will do anything for your # LOL. I once told a guy that was swearing he will do anything for my number to then get on his knees and ask nicely LMAO (We were outside). He then begged to do anything but that! I told him- but you said you'd do anything abi? Fool.

Family / Re: Celine Dion Delivers Twins! Do Women Deliver At 42? by HellaBella(f): 3:32pm On Oct 27, 2010
@OP, just be open to meeting new people and trying new things. Hold firm on your values but get out there, go out, interact with others so that you can meet diff types of people. Continue to have faith- God won't let you down. Don't forget that you also have a part to play, get out there and have fun!!!

As for TUDOR, damn girl you are just so poisonous. I can size up your personality based on the comment you wrote on the first page. SMH. Anyway, I'm glad I don't have to interact with people like you sha. Crass and miserable.
Family / Re: My Mom Gave Birth After 19years! by HellaBella(f): 3:11pm On Oct 27, 2010
What the hell is this childish rubbish? At your age you're not too keen on seeing your baby bro? I have truly heard it all.  Are you the one caring for the baby? You even stated that your mom is back home.
My dear grow up! Your concern is what your friends think, tell me, do they pay for your schooling, feeding and rent? Will they have your back when it comes down to it?
Guess what, that baby that you are "not too keen on meeting" will most likely be there for you in the future when no else will.  Family counts.  SMDH

Well, since you're so in tune with Nigerian culture why don't you move to Nigeria? In fact, go straight to Asaba Delta State- that's where most movies are made. No one will discover you from Niaraland so you gotta take yourself over there,
Fashion / Re: Daily Beauty Rotuine by HellaBella(f): 11:00am On Oct 14, 2010
-Get up, brush my teeth
-Jump in the shower- I usually use zest soap or dove body bar. Wash my face with clean and clear foaming face cleanser
-Get out of the shower and if I'm wearing contacts I'll put them on once I get out of the shower. Next, I lotion my face with Neutrogena face moisturizer, then put on deodorant (Arrid brand).
-Lotion up with coco butter cream
-Dress up, spray body spray or perfume
-Style my hair
-Time for makeup. I usually keep it simple: M.A.C. Studio fix powder, Revlon eyebrow pencil, chap-stick, and then apply a light lipstick or gloss over the chap-stick.
Romance / Re: Another Black Sister Trick An Indian Man Into Marriage by HellaBella(f): 5:02pm On Sep 19, 2010
@ MOBO You are a big fool!!! People have issues in relationships. Just because he complained about somethings she did doesn't mean that they didn't decide to work things out! Geez. Are you in their home? How do you know that they didn't discuss the issues and work things out. People like you make me sick. Someone just got married and you are quick to point out the issues he had with his babe. For what purpose? To make him feel bad? Can't people be happy for even just a week before you run your dirty smelling mouth?

Pathetic! You are def one of those miserable people I see wandering around. Their lives are empty and sad and they gain pleasure from bringing down people on their joyous day!

LOSER!
Family / Re: Is My Son Left Handed And How Do I Make Him Right Handed by HellaBella(f): 11:34pm On Sep 17, 2010
I hate to be the bearer of bad news but erm, you probably can't change it. I should know because something similar happened to me. While I perform 10% of tasks with my right-hand, I use my left for the other 90%. Even if you try to force it, your son will be naturally inclined to use his right hand for certain if not, most tasks.

BTW, there is nothing wrong with being left-handed. For crying out loud its 2010 not 1699. SMDH

she is too old for old this. she should have done this ten yrs ago, but I wish her the best in her music career.

What the hell does her age have to do with it? Are young people the only ones that should sing? She sucks now and she probably would have sucked then. You're acting as if her being 10 years younger would automatically improve the tone of her voice!

Lets join together and pray against the evil doers from our Nation.

LMAO, I hope you also do a lot of praying for your leaders. However, I'm sure you're more concerned with the gay evil doers than you are with the leaders that murder hundreds daily by failing to live up to their duties.

I have had conversations with Nigerian men who claim to have no problem with 2 women having sex, yet are ready to kill 2 men that they suspect may be getting it on.  Am I missing something? How can you condemn gays but smile and jump up about lesbians? Bunch of hypocrites.

Food / Re: Should Boys Help Out In Cooking Food? ? by HellaBella(f): 5:11am On Aug 11, 2010
Of course boys should help out. All these "traditional" rules sef?

And yes, girls do help out with "manly" chores even when they have brothers.

For example, in the winter time, I sometimes help my brother shovel snow- especially if it is a lot and very cold out. I don't mind helping him. (I've even helped him to mow the lawn!) And usually if I cook, my brother washes the dishes. And he has even cooked when I am at home. Guess what? It hasn't harmed either one of us to do these opposing chores.

People should be reasonable with these things. It doesn't make you less of a man or woman if you do the chores "designed" for the opposite gender once in a while. Geez!
Family / Re: Is The Fight For Equality Ruining Marriages by HellaBella(f): 2:53pm On Aug 08, 2010
shocked I swear, I am a Nigerian and Nigerians make me SICK!!!!
This holier than thou attitude we have is just disgusting. Nigerians are so quick to quote the bible when it comes to matters of "submission" yet they refrain from applying the principles of the bible in other areas of life.
Some of you want your wives to submit as the bible commands, yet I'm sure you're not living righteously in your everyday life and probably have "justifications" as to why you are not following most, if not SOME of the bible's tenets.

Just look at the state of the country; it speaks volumes about the fake, pretend "I'm holy" attitude of the nation. A church on every street corner, yet Nigeria remains a breeding ground for corruption, crime and numerous unholy acts. How do we as Nigerians even reconcile that? LMAO its a pure joke!

Nigerians like to behave as if they exude the epitome of morality. Puhlease! Just take a look at our leaders, even pastors sef.

Stop demanding from your wife if YOU can not uphold your end of the bargain. You want your wife to do as the bible commands, well shouldn't you lead by example and do the same?? True masters of deception.
