The Federal Government on Tuesday banned the conferment of chieftaincy titles and “other sundry awards” on civil servants until after their retirement or disengagement from service. The Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Alhaji Bukar Goni Aji, in a circular sent to all Ministries, Departments and Agencies of government however directed that where the traditional titles were mandatory by inheritance, “due clearance must be obtained from the Secretary to the Government of the Federation” through his office. A statement issued in Abuja by the Director (Communications) in the Office of the HOS, Mr. Tope Ajakaiye, said “it has come to the notice of government that some civil servants are in the practice of soliciting for chieftaincy titles and sundry awards, an act, which is inimical to the principles of anonymity, integrity and political neutrality which are the core values of the civil service.” The statement reads: “Federal Civil Servants have been banned from accepting chieftaincy titles and other sundry awards until after their retirement or disengagement from the civil service. “In a circular sent to all Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) of the Federal Government, the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Alhaji Bukar Goni Aji said that it has come to the notice of government that some civil servants are in the practice of soliciting for chieftaincy titles and sundry awards, an act, which he said, is inimical to the principles of anonymity, integrity and political neutrality which are the core values of the civil service.” http://212breakingnews..com/2013/06/just-in-fg-bans-civil-servants-from.html?m=1 |
Do not blame poverty for this kind of situation. Blame it on lack of moral values and self discipline. |
As the game between Nigeria and Uruguay draws near, expectations are getting higher and temperatures are rising. Here are 5 things Keshi must do to defeat the South American side; 1) fortify Nigeria's midfield; Keshi must pack the midfield with players. A study of Uruguay team reveals that their weak point is the midfield. Nigeria must take advantage of that. 2) Avoid free kicks; The presence of good free kick takers such as Suarez and Forlan makes free kick very dangerous for Nigeria. 3) Do not play Ogude; this is because he commits too many unnecessary foul and could end up being red carded. John Ogu might be a good replacement if Ogenyi fails to recover. 4)Adopt delay tactics whenever pressure gets intense; Delay tactics will be of good help whenever the Nigerians are under massive pressure. It will frustrate them and give Nigeria a chance to get back into the game. 5) Clinical approach infront of goal; the team should be thought how to be more clinical infront of goal. Avoid a repeat of what happened against Tahiti where selfishness cost Nigeria a total whitewash of Tahiti. If all these are done, then Nigeria will stand a very good chance against Uruguay. |
I love the speech. For those that criticize GEJ, How have you been able to manage your family not to talk of managing a difficult entity as Nigeria? My opinion here is that Nigeria's problem is far more from GEJ but quite spiritual and difficult. Don't forget that colonial politics kept us where we are. Safe! |
Tragedy struck in Awka this afternoon as a diesel tanker driver lost control of his vahicle and hit other travellers, leaving 12 persons dead and many others injured. The incident happened at about 4 pm on Friday at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University junction in Awka. Three L-300 Mitsubishi buses were involved as onlookers wept as men of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), police men, Army men, NCSDC members battled to take the injured to different hospitals. The Nation was told by an eye witness that when the trailer lost control, it rammed into one of the L-300 buses in transit and another one loading for Onitsha and killed all the passengers. Those also involved in the accidents were mainly people selling different items along the park and some okada riders. Some of them refused to talk to reporters, adding that they were unable to give correct account of what actually happened. Students and on lookers were seen crying their hearts out when the Nation visited the scene of the accident, while vehicles heading to Onitsha were held up for hours along the express way.

Religious extremism and fanatism makes ones eyes myopic. In as much as you are an adherent to certain religion, don't let it not remove your good sense of reasoning. |
I got this picture of two secondary school students kissing each other at a corner of their school. Have your say!

A 300 level student of University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Eze Sopulu was on the early hours of Friday knocked down by a car. Though she didn't die at the spot, report later filtered in that she gave up the ghost at the University Medical Center. The driver of the car sped-off after the accident. The accident occured infront of Okpara hostel, almost opposite St Peters Catholic Chaplaincy as well as the Students Affairs department of the Institution. May her soul rest in peace. Amen! |

An argument ensued between I and my friends about the role of religion in Nigeria. I was of the view that religion has contributed immensely to national growth but they argued otherwise with good examples. I want to ask: Is religion an opium of the society? |

Let us remove sentiments here. That land truely belongs to Cameroon. Gowon signed an agreement wit dem to take d land in order to prevent d Igbo's 4rm bringin arms during d war 4rm Gabon. I tink beauty has a lot dat goes wit it. She might be physically ugly but she's got wat most "beautiful gurls" dnt hav. I luv her courage and resolve 2 make gud out of her condition instead of living in self pity. |
It might interest U to knw dat almost all the northern states are listed as education disadvantaged states. They then came up wit quota system to balance it. Dis is good ridance 2 bad rubbish! Hw can sm1 4rm d east score 250 and d one 4rm d north dat scored 190 be taken cos of so called quota. Dis is making dem lazy and dia attitude towardz education is ZERO! |
