Education / Re: Go And Warn Your Father.. Verydarkman Tells Tinubu's Daughter by HenryQuest(m): 3:32pm On Jul 29
All the people campaigning against the protest are rich and influential. They do not and cannot understand the predicament of the common Nigerian at this time. You can’t beat a child and expect the child not to cry.

If Tinubu who is in panic mode over the protest cannot fix the problem of the country what makes anyone think he can when he is not?

Two kids of one of the prominent northern politicians that recently spoke against the protest are my neighbours here in New York. They are chilling on a regular, flexing their father’s money but their father is back home cautioning the downtrodden against exercising their civic rights in the face of poverty and starvation. I just de laugh all the poor lads on this platform siding the government. I just de laugh una.

There’s no single indices to show that this government can fix anything! Absolutely none! It’s only in Nigeria that “things must get bad before they get better”. Don’t believe anybody that tells you that crap! If you can’t improve on things the way you met them, leave it all for another!

Travel / Before You Take Your African Wife To Europe Or America: A Must Read by HenryQuest(m): 7:31pm On Sep 08, 2023
It is a widespread idea in Africa that it is the man’s responsibility to provide for his family. Most times, it does not matter how much the wife earns or what she’s worth. That’s why it’s very common to hear a lot of black women make statements like “My money is my money but my husband’s money is our money.”

I have also read in many places that a man’s wealth does not reflect on him but on his wife. This is another way of saying “monkey de work, baboon de chop.” In Africa, especially the sub-Saharan parts, a man is valued mostly on how well he can provide for his family. In the Igbo tribe, names like “Oriaku” (consumer of wealth) are very common. Somehow, this is a reflection of the culture back home.

I must say that the existing socioeconomic situation viz a vis the cultures across the continent makes it easier for a man to solely bear the family’s financial and otherwise responsibilities without giving up so easily. This is why it appears that marriages between a lot of black people in Europe and America hit the rock faster than back home. A man who tries to be the sole breadwinner in Europe or America will find it extremely difficult to do so.

The European and American economies are mostly built on taxes and monthly bills from water to electricity to waste disposal to heating systems among others. This is not to mention monthly payments of rent that run into hundreds of thousands of pounds and dollars.

Now to the topic proper. Before you take your wife to Europe or America from Africa, you must do the following:

1. Orientation: Do you remember how colleges and universities organize orientation exercises for new intakes? Do you know the idea behind that? Well, it’s for the new students to understand the culture of their new school environment – what is and what isn’t and how to navigate life on campus. You must explain to your wife or girlfriend how life in Europe or America is. This must include the day-to-day life, how bills are paid, the nature of bills paid, and how it differs from the system back home. They might hear you’re earning two thousand pounds monthly not knowing 75 per cent of it goes to tax, and bills. You must prepare them for what to meet.

2. Agree on how to combine resources to support the family: In Europe and America, there is nothing like “Oriaku.” Especially for two migrants still struggling to find their feet. One person depending on the other for financial support will be deeply challenging. If the man pays for some bills, the woman pays for some too. Europe and America do not encourage laziness. Staying a month without earning will be disastrous for either of the couple. So, do away with the mindset that as a woman from Africa, you are coming to Europe or America to live the soft life where you stay at home and your man provides everything. He’ll get frustrated easily and this would bring problems to your marriage.

3. Decide the number of kids to have: The more kids you have in Europe and America, the higher your bills. You’ll have more people using electricity, water, TV; the internet and so on. You can’t have 5,6,7 children when you’re both hustling daily to support yourselves and your families back home.

4. Discuss what happens when your wife gets pregnant: In these countries, a pregnant woman is second to God in heaven. You will be required to change your home if it’s not good enough for a baby, and your wife will be required to stop working for months. You have to let her know this and then come up with a plan. If she gives birth, someone must always be at home with the baby till the age of 5 when he or she can start school. The alternative is to pay a nanny but can you afford 10 pounds or dollars per hour every time your baby is with the nanny? You should talk about the possibility of her mum or yours or a family member coming over for some time to look after the baby while you both go out to hustle.

5. Decide on the level of support for your extended families: This one has destroyed many homes abroad. Your wife’s family might be banking on her to build mansions and buy cars for everyone. Same as yours. Most people back home don’t want to believe that people in Europe and America don’t have enough for everyone. Sit your woman down and tell her to cut short the expectations of her family just as you’ll do the same in yours as you’re now married and have increased responsibility.

6. Tell her the work you do: A lot of people do not share the nature of their jobs with their women back home. Some of the women expect that you’d be working in a big office because of the huge sums you send home. They’d be shocked to find out you’re probably a security guy in a nightclub or a janitor in a college. The good news is that there’s dignity of labour in these countries. No one looks down on anyone because of the job they do as long as you pay your bills and mind your business. High expectations might make your wife lose some love for you if your job doesn’t measure up to her expectations. You should know women!

7. Tell her how the system protects women: The system in Europe and America favours and protects women. That is why it’s very easy for a wife to destroy her husband even without evidence. You must let your wife know this and subtly express your fears. This would help manage the culture shock she’ll experience when she moves over. If she moves over blank and with her African idea of what women in the society is, it might be too overwhelming for her and this would affect your marriage.

Postponing the election would have massive negative impact on the overall outcome of the polls.

Buhari should try and get this one thing right... conducting a free, fair and credible election.

He has been a disaster on all fronts but stands a chance of a little redemption if he delivers on his promise of an election devoid of state sponsored electoral malpractices.

The writer is obviously one of the many paid youths in the state tasked with the sole responsibility of praise-singing Gov Ugwuanyi. The Governor has failed in his primary responsibility of securing lives and property of the people of Eha Amufu. That community has for long been deprived of the dividends of democracy. Just recently, the the same Governor denied the people of the area their chance of producing the next governor and gave it back to Nkanu people that had produced a governor in the person of Chimaroke Nnamani.

Ugwuanyi has failed all round as a governor. Dashing money here and there isn't governance.

Some supporters of the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, on Saturday (today) staged a rally in Nsukka, Enugu State.

VANTAGE NEWS reports that the youths came out in large numbers for the rally which started at about 10:am at the popular Total Roundabout close to the main entrance of the University of Nigeria Nsukka.

One of the organisers told our correspondent that the police in Nsukka wanted to stop the rally from holding.

The source confirmed that the police asked them not to print T-shirts bearing the face of the former Governor of Anambra State who just yesterday unveiled Yusuf Baba-Ahmed as his running mate.

According to the source, the police demanded that they organise the rally as a Permanent Voter Cards sensitization exercise.

However, the source stated that the police later approved the rally to take place but with many restrictions.

VANTAGE NEWS reports that this is one of many rallies organised by young Nigerians across the country for Obi since he emerged as the presidential candidate of the Labour Party.

Obi dumped the main opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party weeks to the party’s presidential primary, citing activities that do not align with his principles.

The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar has been accused of creating ethnic division in Nigeria ahead of the presidential election through Reno Omokri, a former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan.

VANTAGE NEWS had reported that Omokri has been trending on social media for the wrong reasons in the past days over his ceaseless attacks on Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party.

Politics / No Evidence Aspirants Were Lobbying Delegates With Money – APC Chairman by HenryQuest(m): 3:34pm On May 26, 2022
The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Abdullahi Adamu has said there was no evidence that aspirants were lobbying delegates with money.

Adamu added that he has since discovered that it was the delegates who have been pitching tents with the highest bidders.

Speaking on Wednesday during an interview with Voice of America Hausa service in Abuja, Adamu said there is no law preventing aspirants from meeting with delegates.

He said, “For now, there is no law against aspirants taking campaign to delegates. I don’t have evidence that aspirants are sharing money to delegates. For me it’s the delegates that are selling their conscience which is not proper.

“Our delegates should know that anybody sharing money to them can’t be the right candidate of the party. He doesn’t mean well for the country. I don’t have solution for the problem.”

Politics / Umahi Reveals Those Behind Killings, Unrest In South-east by HenryQuest(m): 1:40pm On May 23, 2022
The Governor of Ebonyi State, David Umahi, has discredited reports that those behind the killings and general insecurity in the South-East region were foreigners.

Umahi, who stated that he has firsthand security information as a sitting governor, revealed that his administration has arrested some of the people causing mayhem in the region.

While speaking as a guest on Channels TV on Monday, Umahi revealed that those behind the insecurity are Igbo youths.

He said, “When people tend to say the insecurity in the southeast is imported, I don’t buy that because I am a governor and get security reports. We have arrested a number of these people and it should be about five or ten per cent of the people outside the South East.

“So, you cannot say when you have up to 90 per cent of our youths that are engaged in this thing and you say we are being infiltrated by others.”

Politics / Atiku, Obi, Saraki, Other PDP Aspirants Are No Match For Me – Tinubu by HenryQuest(m): 7:21am On May 18, 2022

Senator Abdullahi Adamu, on Saturday (today), emerged as the chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Adamu emerged as the consensus candidate of the party during the convention after President Muhammadu Buhari asked all other aspirants to step down for the former Governor of Nasarawa State.

He was the governor of Nasarawa between 1999 and 2007 under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from where he decamped to the APC

Adamu won election in 2011 to represent Nasarawa West in the senate. He has remained in the upper legislative chamber ever since.

Travel / Ultimate Guide About Traveling To Lagos by HenryQuest(m): 1:47pm On Mar 11, 2022
Lagos, Nigeria’s most commercialized city is home to people from diverse sociopolitical, religious, and ethnic backgrounds.

Widely regarded as Nigeria’s economic hub, the city is the home of entertainment in the whole of Africa. Its economic viability makes it the 7th largest economy on the continent.

Little wonder literally everyone wants to move to the city that never sleeps. Going by a statement made by the former Governor of the state, Akinwunmi Ambode, 86 persons enter Lagos every minute. That means 132,000 people enter Lagos daily. Many of these visitors are either coming to do business, relocate, or simply to spend time with family and friends.

Just like every other city, Lagos has its own issues and visitors are advised to ‘shine their eyes.’

Lagos is a mixture of poverty and affluence, mansions and sharks, class and old-fashioned. Simply put, everything there is can be found in abundance in Lagos. From the rich, high, and mighty in the Banana Islands and the Ikoyi’s to the poor, struggling and downtrodden under the bridges and in the sharks of Mushin, Ajegunle, and others.

Now to the business of the day…

So you’ve concluded plans of traveling to Lagos. Maybe you have heard beautiful stories and watched Nollywood movies of how people moved to Lagos and became millionaires in 6 months. Now you can’t wait to visit Lagos.

Well, before you buy that bus ticket or book that flight, here are 10 things you need to know about Lagos.

1) The ‘crazy yellow bus drivers’
Well, almost every driver in Lagos is crazy but you can’t compete at his level with the commercial bus drivers of the popular yellow buses. Be it Danfo or Molue, these drivers are fearless on the road and they take risks as they come. Always sit tight. Can you complain, yes but be ready for the insults that would come in the form of a reply, either from the driver himself or mostly from the conductor.

2) There’s always a rush to everywhere and nowhere.
It is common to see people moving in a hurry. Don’t worry, the majority of them are not late but that’s Lagos for you.

3) Pickpockets are everywhere!
You think someone wearing a suit is gentle and honest right? Well, Lagos is an exception. Pickpockets are everywhere. Always be careful. Protect your belongings. Do not ‘loose guard.’

4) Do not urinate anyhow and anywhere
There are people whose work is to move around in search of people that would be fined for not doing something right. They are neither government staff nor commissioned for the task but they will make you pay for urinating in the open.

5) Angry and frustrated people are everywhere!
Just know that an average Lagosian is always frustrated and angry. Well, who wouldn’t be frustrated after spending hours in traffic? Or having to exchange words with a conductor? My dear, know this and know peace.

6) Noisy neighbours
You may be coming from a very cool environment. In Lagos, I cannot guarantee you that. Shops and residential buildings are often together. You can’t stop the man that owns the music store nearby not to call people’s attention to his shop. It’s noisy out there my dear.

7) Always mind your business.
A friend got beaten simply because he tried to ‘separate fight’. I know you’re on a peace mission but watch it. Lagosians are not always peace-loving.

cool The roads are not as good.
Please note that Lagos roads are not good. Simple. If you drive through the streets of Mafoluku in Oshodi or parts of Mushin…my dear, ‘your body go tell you.’ Remember to always budget for car maintenance.

9) You may reconsider your fashion sense
I understand the temptation to always move around Lagos in your best wear. I must warn that unless you have your own car or would be using taxi-hailing services, don’t dress to impress. If you do, you may have to urgently seek a nearby tailor after entering a Danfo bus. Good luck my dear.

10) Avoid the Agberos
These people are mean and equally reckless. Some of them have zero value for their looks. little wonder you see injuries all over their bodies. They won’t hesitate to decorate you as well. Just avoid them.

Are you still interested in coming to Lagos?
Don’t be scared. Just master the rules and you’ll be just fine.

Celebrities / How Small Boobs Saved Me From Sex Tape Scandal – Janemena by HenryQuest(m): 1:08pm On Jan 10, 2022
Popular Instagram dancer and influencer, Jane Orezimena, commonly known as Janemena has revealed that her “small boobs” saved her from the sex tape scandal that rocked her last year.

The Dean of Students Affairs, University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), Prof Edwin Omeje has threatened to expel a first year student of the institution simply identified as Mirabel who was caught on camera dancing in a swimming pant.

VANTAGE NEWS reports that the student pulled off her trouser while dancing for show promoters at the Akpabio hostel at the university.

An eye witness told our correspondent that the show promoters promised to give N10,000 and N100,000 worth of VIP ticket to any student that goes half-naked while dancing in front of the hostel.

UNN Dean Threatens To Expel Student For Dancing (Video) - Vantage News Nigeria

The uproar as the student was dancing attracted the Dean who arrived at the scene, threatening to expel and to prosecute the student.

The Dean said, “it is not just expelling her from this university, she will be prosecuted for destroying humanity, for destroying womanhood and bringing the name of this university to disrepute”

A student simply identified as Ann queried the Dean’s decision to expel the Mirabel.

“She didn’t go naked, she only pulled her trouser and this is not strange at all. I don’t see why she should be expelled by the Dean,” Ann said.

Another student who chose to remain anonymous wondered why the Dean reacted swiftly over such a matter while the school falls short on pressing issues affecting students welfare.

She said, “It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a female student to get hostel in this university. This is a yearly occurrence but the school has done nothing about it. Some of us would pay and still beg for a space. The Dean wouldn’t respond fast but here he is threatening to expel a student for dancing.”

The Dean could not be reached as at the time of filing this report.

Business / Again, Buhari Blames Middlemen For Rising Food Prices by HenryQuest(m): 10:01am On Oct 01, 2021
President Muhammadu Buhari has identified ‘artificial shortages created by middlemen’ as the reason behind the continuous rise in the prices of food in the country.

According to Buhari, the middlemen have been buying and hoarding essential commodities for profiteering.

The President said this in his 61st Independence Day Speech delivered on Friday morning.

He said, “We have seen significant private sector investments in almost all areas of the agricultural value chain. And these have continued even during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Unfortunately, as our food production capacity has increased, food prices have been going up due to artificial shortages created by middlemen who have been buying and hoarding these essential commodities for profiteering.

Buhari, however, noted that he has directed the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the National Food Reserve Agency and security agencies to find a solution to the challenge.

“To address this, I am hereby directing the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to rehabilitate the National Food Reserve Agency and also work with security agencies, the Nigerian Commodity Exchange, and the National Assembly to find a lasting solution to these disruptive and unpatriotic hoarding activities,” he added.

Crime / National Assembly Member Identified As Financier Of IPOB, Igboho – Buhari by HenryQuest(m): 9:26am On Oct 01, 2021
An unnamed member of the National Assembly has been identified by the Federal Government as one of the financiers of secessionist movements in the country.

This was revealed by President Muhammadu Buhari in his 61st Independence Day Speech delivered on Friday morning.

Buhari, stated that the arrests of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and Yoruba Nation secessionist group leader, Sunday Adeyemo aka Igboho has led to the uncovering of their sponsors and financiers.

He said, “The recent arrests of Nnamdi Kanu and Sunday Adeyemo, and the ongoing investigations being conducted have revealed certain high-profile financiers behind these individuals. We are vigorously pursuing these financiers including one identified as a serving member of the national assembly.

“This is a clear example of how people abandon their national leadership positions for their selfish gains. Instead of preaching unity, they are funding and misleading our youth to conduct criminal acts that sometimes lead to unfortunate and unnecessary loss of lives and property.

“As the so-called leaders run abroad to hide, our innocent youths are misled and left in the streets to fight for their senseless and destructive causes.”

Education / UNN Lecturer, Department React To Defamatory Publication By Sahara Reporters by HenryQuest(m): 7:33am On Oct 01, 2021
Misleading Report: UNN Lecturer, Department React To Defamatory Publication By Sahara Reporters

A lecturer in the department of Sociology and Anthropology at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), Dr Chidi Ugwu has denied with facts, allegation of forgery labelled against him by online publishing outfit, Sahara Reporters in a story published on Wednesday, September 29, 2021.

VANTAGE NEWS reports that Sahara Reporters had in the story accused Ugwu of falsifying documents that helped him secure a research fellowship position in Harvard University.

The online publishing outfit also accused the lecturer of being a “part of a ring of power brokers in the university that goes right up to the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Charles Igwe, who has been entangled in allegations of age falsification.”

According to Sahara Reporters, Ugwu ‘was said to have added to his credentials claims of having a diploma from the University of Helsinki,’ adding that the 46-year-old lecturer “also claimed he has been a guest lecturer at the University of Melbourne since 2017.”

In a rejoinder sent to VANTAGE NEWS, Ugwu denied the allegations and accused a former lecturer of Sociology and Anthropology, Professor Emenike Chinenyengozi Ejiogu of being the mastermind behind the malicious publication.

Ugwu said that Ejiogu had threatened to deal with him via a text message after he and a few other lecturers that our correspondent verified that were part of the normal regularization exercise for proper placement of university staff found out that Ejiogu’s credentials do not meet his placement as a Professor by the standards set by UNN.

He said, “Just in case you need a bit more light, ‘Professor’ Ejiogu was hired by the UNN in 2014, into the Department of Sociology & Anthropology where I teach. The university required him, as is the rule, to submit his publications and other credentials so they could regularize him and determine what rank it would be proper to place him. For six years, he employed all sorts of tactics to dodge this exercise. After having tried for years on end to get him to submit himself for this exercise, the University Council had no choice than to relieve him of the temporary appointment.

“Currently unemployed, he’s in court with the UNN council, having sued them from what is left of the salaries he collected under a false pretense. My offense in that process was that I participated in running some background checks on him somewhere along the line. So, he believes I am part of his enemies that should now be smeared at all costs. He believes he is trying to pay me back in my own coin. But I have no coin. I use only genuine notes.”

Ugwu who presented evidences of his involvement with the University of Helsinki in Finland and the University of Melbourne, Australia, also showed an Email sent by Havard University dismissing the petition against him as allegedly brought to its knowledge by Professor Ejiogu.

Our Correspondent in the quest for truth interviewed the Sociology and Anthropology Head of Department, Professor Christopher Ugwoke who confirmed Ugwu’s story, saying that the matter had been investigated and Ugwu was found “thoroughly innocent.”

“It’s an embarrassment to the department and university. The story by Sahara Reporters lacks merit and should totally be disregarded. The Department has investigated the matter and found him (Ugwu) thoroughly innocent,” he said.

A non-academic staff in the department who spoke to VANTAGE NEWS on the condition of anonymity described Ugwu as a “scholar per excellence” who has been making giant strides in the academic world.

“Dr Chidi Ugwu has made this department proud. He has continued to make us proud and I don’t think anybody can bring him down with such a defamatory and fallacious story. It is a pity that an organisation like Sahara Reporters would practice such ‘black market’ journalism. It is embarrassing to say the least.

“We all know that Professor Ejiogu is the one behind all this. He is yet to get over what happened during the last regularization exercise where it was discovered that he did not merit his position as a Professor by the standards of this great citadel of learning.”

Ugwu threatened to take action against Sahara Reporters if it fails to retract the story by conducting a thorough investigation on the matter.

Attempts made to reach Professor Ejiogu proved abortive as his lines were not reachable.

BUSTED: Lecturer From University Of Nigeria Wins Prestigious Harvard Fellowship Using False Qualifications

A REJOINDER – WHO IS BUSTING WHO?
By Chidi Ugwu, PhD

Moments ago, my attention was drawn to a story with the above headline, published by SaharaReporters on Wednesday, 29 September 2021. If not that the internet never forgets, I would let this slide, especially given that we have graver matters of the Nigerian state to contend with, plus the fact that I am too busy for media exchanges at this time.

1. First, that SaharaReportersof all news media never bothered to contact me before going to town with this sort of defamatory publication was my first surprise. This runs counter to a major principle of journalism founded on the juristic dictum that says, audio alteram partem– always ensure to hear from the other side. I understand, though, that sometimes the rush to grab readers with a hot headline could get the better of the reporter. But this principle is taught from 101 classes in mass communication and media practice.

2. Let me state firmly that I have no doubts about who is behind it all and I will tell you shortly. By the way, I’m just doing this to put the records straight for the public. Otherwise, I would not bother about this idle smear mongering. I’m a very busy man.Google Chidi Ugwu if you need to see what I have been busying with.

3. For background, you may want to know this: In late 2019, following a rigorous selection process that involved hundreds of exceptional scholars across the world, I got selected for two research fellowship positions in Harvard University. And let me mention that the two research institutes that selected me are unrelated and were working completely independent of each other. It was a bit troubling for meto select the one I eventually settled for.

4. Moments after my selection into the Harvard Radcliffe Institute was announced in the University of Nigeria, one ‘Professor’ EmenikeChinenyengoziEjiogu, who claimed he had dual positions as a professor in the USA and a visiting scholar in South Africa, sent me a message over the email threatening to deal with me.To make do his threat, he wrote to my Institute at Harvard directly, with trumped up allegations that I was a dubious liar who defrauded students, intimidatedfellow staff and falsely claimed to be a Guest Lecturer in the University of Melbourne, Australia. The Harvard Radcliffe Institute, after due investigation, dismissed his claims andwrote me the following email (which I prefer to screenshot;I cut out their names here because within the short period I needed to dispense with this useless distraction, it was not possible to officially secure permission to put out their names here; this may be done if it becomes expedient and permissible in the near future):

5. Just in case you need a bit more light,‘Professor’ Ejiogu was hired by the UNN in 2014, into the Department of Sociology & Anthropology where I teach. Currently unemployed, he’s in court with the UNN council, having sued them from what is left of the salaries he collected under a false pretense. My offense in that process was that I participated in running some background checks on him somewhere along the line. So, he believes I am part of his enemies that should now be smeared at all costs. He believes he is trying to pay me back in my own coin. But I have no coin. I use only genuine notes.

6. My real embarrassment was that this pathfinding online medium could publish a potentially defamatory report of this nature without seeking to hear from both sides of the narrative. Remember Chimamanda Adichie’s admonition about the danger of a single story?

7. Maybe I should even mention thatI’ve used my own hands to forward that smear publication to my institute here at Harvard. They already know where this is coming from because they have investigated these same allegations themselves.

8. I don’t think it’s necessary to begin laying bare my certificates for everyone to see. I will do so when the time comes.

9. For now, let me dispense with one of the major straws the reportwas clinging to. Find below my last email from the University of Melbourne inviting me for this year’s lecture that comes up on 11 October 2021:

And here is the zoom link they have sent to me for that engagement:

10. The report also alleged that my claim to have a diploma certificate from the University of Helsinki is false. I am wondering why it was just diploma, out of all my certificates from BSc, MSc to PhD, that they pointed to. I will choose another occasion to display my certificates for the public to see. I don’t feel that this smear mongering has deserved it yet.

11. Maybe I don’t need to mention that you don’t get selected for a fellowship at Harvard because you have presented some damned certificates. Your proposal stating your research agenda, plus your publications that are available on the internet, are your major bargaining resources. Again, Google Chidi Ugwu to see for yourself. You don’t miss or lie your way into Harvard. Make no mistake to think about Harvard with your naijaconsciousness.

12. Let me make a proposal to SharaReporters: If after a more thoroughgoing investigation and you discover that you have been misled to accuse me wrongly, will you retract the report you published against me on 29 September 2021 with an apology? Or will you still dare me to do my worst?

13. To aid your investigation, I offer to let you have all the links and contacts you need in Harvard, in Helsinki, in the University of Nigeria, and in the University of Melbourne. Remember that most of the higher institutions in Europe and America are very big with several institutes and centers that run semi-autonomously. That one of such institutes or centers fails to confirm your request is not enough for you to draw your conclusion just yet.

14. I think we are still within reasonable time for this mistaken report to be redressed.

Politics / Fake Certificate Holders, Debtors Seeking Anambra Governorship Seat – Obiano by HenryQuest(m): 8:41am On Sep 26, 2021
The Governor of Anambra State, Willie Obiano, has described the governorship candidate of the All Progressive Grand Alliance in the November 6 election, Charles Soludo as the most qualified candidate for the seat.

Speaking on Saturday during the presentation of Soludo’s manifestation at the Dr Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka, the state capital, Obiano said Anambra people have two choices to make in the upcoming election: “to continue in the progress we are making or to go back to Egypt.”

Obiano added that some of the candidates have fake certificates and are debtors.

“We have fake certificate holders, and debtors, who are running for governor, but they can’t govern. You all must vote for qualified fellows like Soludo. He has the reach, contacts and cerebral ability to lead Anambra. He knows where to find the money, much more than I do. I have no doubt that we will win with a landslide. We have no competition,” he said.

VANTAGE NEWS reports that Soludo had during the manifesto presentation promised to deliver good governance to the people of the state.

Education / Expelled UNN Student Decries Delayed Judgement, Blames Sociology Graduate by HenryQuest(m): 7:30am On Jul 21, 2021
VANTAGE NEWS reports that controversy surrounds the expulsion of Oparaeke Akwaugo, a graduate of Sociology and Anthropology by the senate of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), two years after she was caught engaging in examination malpractice.

Our Correspondent who obtained a copy of the expulsion letter opened an investigation into the matter and made some discoveries.

It was learnt that the incident occurred back in the first semester of 2017/2018 session when Akwaugo was in her second year.

Having admitted to have entered the hall to write the examination, GSP 105 for a paltry sum before the panel set up to investigate the matter, Akwaugo did not hear the final decision of the panel till Friday, July 16 2021.

By then she had completed her 4-year study in the institution and had gone on to celebrate with other students in the usual manner of appearing on white and having others sign on them.

Akwaugo told the panel that she agreed to engage in the malpractice because she needed financial support in school and pleaded for justice to be tampered with mercy.

She told our correspondent that she reached out to Akubue Ubasinachi, a 2019 graduate of the same department for financial assistance but Ubasinachi offered to help her with the money on the condition that she impersonates one of his multiple clients from the department of Political Science.

The candidate she impersonated had graduated from the university and reportedly serving before this hammer fell on Akwaugo, VANTAGE NEWS reports.

VANTAGE NEWS learnt that Ubasinachi who was notorious for impersonation during his schooling days, failed to appear before the panel or offer any form of assistance to the sinking Akwaugo who couldn’t control her tears while talking to our correspondent.

Aside not showing up before the panel or security unit where Akwaugo was taken after she was caught and abandoning her to her fate, Ubasinachi went on to demand for money from Akwaugo to have the case thrown out.

Ubasinachi boasted that he has the connection within the senate to ensure that the case was thrown out.

On hearing about her expulsion, Ubasinachi didn’t sympathize with her but rather boasted that he could still have the case thrown out if she could pay the money previously demanded to have the case thrown out.

Nothing was heard from the panel till the expulsion letter was sent to Akwaugo through her department.

Some of her classmates and lecturers that spoke to VANTAGE NEWS on the condition of anonymity expressed shock over the incidence as Akwaugo was said to be a bright student who never cheated in any exam they were part of.

It remains to be seen why it took the panel two years to deliver verdict on the matter, allowing the student to continue paying fees and other sundry dues during the whole time.

VANTAGE NEWS wonders why Ubasinachi was never interrogated despite glaring evidence of his involvement in the matter.

Efforts made to reach Ubasinachi prove abortive.

Kei Ansu Kamara converted a 19th minute penalty to hand his side the last remaining AFCON ticket in the postponed match that was finally played on Tuesday.
