You're dissing BBN & football viewers... yet you call yourself an "above average mind"

There are some general stuff an educated mind should know. I think the meaning of foreign reserve is one of them. Roughly Foreign Reserve is the funds a country sets aside from its export earnings as a back up for rainy days.

Anyone who lives in glass house should be wary of throwing stones. You call some people run of the mill HND and Bsc. Whether that is true or not, you have a PhD yet your write up has at least 5 grammatical errors! Normally I should have ignored the errors but 'With the same measure you measure for others it will be be measured unto you'.

Below are grammatical errors:

"...a country economic structures and processes captures the essence.."

"They themselves radiates little or no confidence..."

"...they have manage to even bastardized the structures..."

"...buy and sell process shows why everyone sell the same.."

"Nigeria have a long way to go."

Osibanjo is the real deal oh!!!!

If this man continues like this, he will make all the difference all previous leaders have failed to make.

The problem in Nigeria largely is a situation where the two largest tribes want to forcefully dominate and subjugate other tribes and they only way seen fit to do this is to prevent any factors of development from going to other places.

Osibanjo has put 1 billion Naira towards Ibaka seaport. That's impressive.

My plea to the two major tribes is for them to give Osibanjo all the support he needs. It's funny how the most vocal supporters of Osibanjo right now are actually The South South and the South East.
Even though we all like Osinbajo, we should not talk like a child who because a cousin on a visit bought him ice cream, he decided not to play with his elder brother. It is FG that appropriated 1 billion not Osinbajo.

PoliticsRe: Nigeria’s Petrol Import Drops By Nine Million Litres In 2016 by hero2000: 10:15am On Jan 24, 2017
This news is quite incoherent and full of errors. I am ashamed that Guardian newspaper also published it.

First, I believe the title meant to be 9billion litres and not 9 million. Even at that the post is still disjointed. How can there be a reduction of 9 billion from 14 billion litres when according to the same news report we still import 90% of our PMS?! Furthermore the minister for Petroleum says they have achieved 40% reduction in importation of PMS. 40% reduction of 14billion gives 8.4 billion lt.

If the figure of 4.9 billion litres of current importation in the news report is correct then then the reduction is actually 65%.

I therefore arrive at the following conclusions:

1. One or more of the figures are either incorrect
OR
2. The 14billion litres in 2015 were actually imported on paper and not in reality.

I know the wailers will blame everything on Buhari, here is a country that God blessed with the most lucrative commodity in the world since the 1st week of 1958 almost 60 years after yet could not boast of a working refinery till date why, because of massive corruption in the sector. can one be able to count individual multi billionaires in the oil and gas sector today; was it not a former military officer during the military regime that came on TV to say that he made 1billion dollars on oil block and that after spending 500 million of it he did not know what to do with the remaining amount. I even said he should have thrown it into the winds
A former President even said he made 25 billionaires in the oil and gas sector majority of whom are women before he left office. And not too long ago between 2012_2013 about 17 of the oil thieves were given licenses to build refineries but they said they prefer to build tank farms to bring in refined petrol. The three old refineries one of which was built by Buhari then later became the den of corruption for the NNPC bigwigs. If one may ask;
Is Angola that got crude petroleum later later just some few years back importing refined fuel like Nigeria? Never! not to talk of Dubai UAE that has used their God given product to develop their economy to a very high level.
So let the wailers continue to wail and Buhari continue to try his best t bring back the 60 years failure into fruition.
NONE of our refineries was built by Buhari.

What if what portends in our Society is wrong? I believe his views are borne out many years of military rule in Nigeria. Maybe he is a soldier himself. Many of them think that because they are military, all non military persons are somehow inferior to them. Is that a proper view to have?

The reason is simple.
Any Disco that cannot reasonably and effectively metered the electricity it distributes will not be able to pay the Gencos and will just keep accumulating debt. The issue is worsened now with the fact that 1, estimated billing is becoming difficult to collect, 2, it's almost now illegal to disconnect owning customers.
The ultimate solution is to METERED ALL ELECTRICITY CONSUMERS.. Anything outside that will not work
Your solution submission is fantastic! And I agree with you 100%.

The OP post is a complete misnomer. How can a seller have customers who are demanding for his product and yet limit the amount of goods he is supplied?

Only 2 reasons can be adduced.

1. If his customers won't pay after he has supplied them. And this EXACTLY IS WHAT PREPAID METERS ARE MEANT TO SOLVE COMPLETLY.

2. If his goods get stolen. Now this is the situation of by-passing meters by prepaid customers! Many of us Nigerians are thieves. The DISCOS try to steal from customers; the customers try to steal from DISCOS too. That is why it has not been well with our country. We need to reduce this cycle of cheating.

Although citizens ought to be honest enough to keep from illegal meter bypass, the DISCOS must device an effective means of tracking down cheating by-passers! What are all the professors of Electrical electronics engineering doing to help meter bypassing!? If with all their years of 'research' they cannot come up with any solution, then what a big SHAME!

WHY YOU NEED TO INVEST YOUR 2017 INTO BITCOINS

I fell in love with bitcoin about a month ago and have never looked back. I forgot my daily #just2odd match prediction post on facebook.
Over a month period, I learned as much as I can about this hot/new virtual currency and have bought, sold and traded a few bitcoins myself. Now, I want to share with you what I know! Enjoy.

When I first wrote about BITCOINS last month, many thought it was a joke. Now it has turn a reality.

Are u aware that as at this morning in the foreign exchange market that one bitcoin is now $788 in value, from the previous $720 late last month.
I.e 1bitcoin (BTC)=788 US dollar

If you calculate with the current dollar to naira exchange rate, you will see that
$788=378,240naira?
Since $1 = 480 naira

That means
1bitcoin = N378,240

Bitcoins currency has gained ground in the foreign exchange market. Almost all online markets now prefer transactions via bitcoins due to its frequent increase in value.

Earlier last month, the exchange rate is at
$720 to 1bitcoin
But as at this morning, the exchange rate has increased to
$788 to 1bitcoin. I.e $68 increase in value.

And has u all know that with the current economic situation in our country Nigeria, if you have $1, it is equivalent to having about N480.
How much more when you now have 1bitcoin in your account.

To exchange the bitcoins currency to our nigeria naira, you will be collecting roughly N378,240 (Three hundred and seventy eight thousand, two hundred and forty naira ).

The SECRET am about to REVEAL to you now is what most online marketing GURUS will put together for you as an E-BOOK and give it out at a very high price But here you are, getting it for FREE.

Think of how fulfilled you will be if you have about 64bitcoins in your account.

Chat me on whatsapp and let me teach you for FREE, how you can generate Bitcoins online and MAKE it grow upto 64btc within 4weeks/30days, with my Bitcoin extraction strategy.

dabossman:
It is quite obvious that one of Nigeria's greatest problems is a TRUST ISSUE. My first reaction was to kick against this move, until I read the article.

On face value, this is a laudable thing that the army is trying to do. However, because of the several issues of mistrust between the North and South of Nigeria, I'm not surprised at the comments I'm reading here.

There is nothing wrong if this is the true purpose of this move:

He noted that he has created the Barrack Investment Initiative as platform that affords Army family members the opportunity of raising up fishing ponds, vegetable gardens, fruits, livestock, chicken and their eggs.

According to him, the intention of the Nigerian Army was not just to secure the country, but to contribute in growing the economy of the nation.

He added: “We want to tell our wives that they can live beyond the salaries of their husbands, so we are trying to empower the women in the barracks to be able to form co-operatives, so as to access loans and to a large extent be able to fend for themselves and their families, even without the salaries of their husbands.

However, those who talk about a hidden agenda may have a true reason to be concerned, especially with recent attacks by the herdsmen and the contentious Grazing Bill. It really is a sad and complicated situation we find ourselves in as a nation. There is just so much mistrust that even good development initiatives can be dead on arrival simply because of our suspicions about the motives of one another.

As for those saying the Army has no business with agriculture, you may not be totally correct. The Army in many countries have often played a role in development of infrastructure, agriculture, health, ICT etc. Even the US Army has an Agribusiness Development Team.
If US Army has agribusiness development they may be permitted. They are the greatest military in the world! Their military industrial complex is second to none. In our Nigeria, we are yet to overcome Bokoharam. A whole battalion has just one night vision gogoles and they have time for such nonsense!

PoliticsOkada Rules In Ajimobi's Ibadan(Pics) by hero2000(op):
It is not uncommon to find that governors who get another term in office do not perform as they did in their first term. I think the reason is simple—they take public offices to serve a parochial interest and are not really the people.

The issue of Okada (commercial motorcyclists) in Ibadan is alarming! They do not obey traffic regulations; they are usually very impatient and generally lawless; many have lost their lives or limbs to their operations. A good number of them abuse alcohol and hemp. And their rank is swelling by the minute! Unfortunately, they are becoming more daring in their disregard for traffic regulatioins. Okada rules! The irony however is that it keeps a lot of people employed. I won’t be surprised if up to 100,000 residents of Ibadan ride Okada for a living. But should the city be left on autopilot as far okada is concerned?

Some states have recognized the danger of allowing okada to operate with impunity and have partially banned its operation or established strong regulations for them. But in Ibadan, okada rules! Why? Because the transport policy of Oyo State government, or shall we say the lack of it, make them rule.

First of all, there is no working strategy to educate and effectively sanction okada riders that contravene traffic regulations. VIO, police and other road officials currently have the difficult task of stopping them on the road. When they see these officials, rather than slow down they increase their speed! They do this to prevent the officials from stopping them since they are prone to accidents when forced to stop. To prevent injuries and death the officials condone their impunity. They act like a spoilt child who threatens to become sick if the parents ever reprimand him. So in order not to have to pay visit to the hospital they refrain from disciplining him! Foolish parents! They ought to sit down to devise a way to correct the child without having to incur health expenses. The Oyo state government should also devise a strategy to sanction erring okada riders without unnecessarily exposing them to death and danger. This must be done!

Recently I pointed out to an official of the Oyo State Transport Management Agency a bottleneck on the road close to the all Important Iwo Road roundabout which was caused by okada riders who have taken over some portion of the road for taking on passengers. He said that had told them to leave the place but they would not. He complained that they don’t have full backing of the government to carry out enforcement. Poor man! Who can blame him? Who would be willing to stick his neck out for a government that won’t have your back when push comes to shove? Just a week of government-backed enforcement would end the bottleneck (at least for some months).

Then on revenue generation for the Oyo State government, there is no motorist as ‘blessed’ as the commercial motorcyclist. The okada is king! For the reason stated above the VIO officials don’t really check on them for payment of statutory licences. They swoop rather on taxi and intra city bus operators. But it is common sense that since commercial cyclists far outnumber taxis and buses, the former have greater revenue potential.

Also, due to the senseless and needless traffic jam caused by street trading, careless parking of vehicles and really bad roads, riders on 2 wheels have field day. If a car would take 1hour for the same distance an okada would take 10mins, then it is clear that the system is skewed to favour them.

I am of the strong view that government should regulate their operation (not total ban). For many in Ibadan, the immediate response to that view is: Robberies will increase! The big question is: How have states that have done so—Edo, Lagos, Anambra, Niger—been fairing ever since? Have they now become dens of thieves? Of course not! It is noteworthy that there are no de facto restrictions by Oyo State government whatsoever on Okada. They operate at anytime, anywhere, without helmet, sometimes even during the 2-hour restriction on sanitation days.

For sake of the future of the State it is very unhealthy to have a huge number of citizens who continually disdain the law and are a law unto themselves. It is the responsibility of leadership through foresight to identify current issues that although appear harmless but are latently detrimental. This loose, unregulated, uncontrolled operation of commercial motorcycle is not good for the city. There is no society anywhere in the world that develops in the midst of chronic indiscipline and disorder.

Mr Ajimobi, I challenge you to bring back this key element of true development to Ibadan.
