I really don’t think it’s possible not to exceed the tax free amount because 20 hours will most likely give you £800 p/m and I don’t think there’s any job that will pay you just £300 so you can remain tax free.
It's very possible. Someone is earning £18k (0.5 FTE) working around 19hours a week

Good morning everyone,

please my friend unfortunately had to work more than 20 hours because the bills were too much and he’s also the first child of the family so he had to pay siblings school fees and take care of his family back home in Nigeria.

He only started Working 34 hours after lectures was over and they were writing dissertation as he had exhausted every savings so needed money badly, It’s time for psw but he’s scared of doing the Visa because he doesn’t want to be caught and deported.

I’ve told him to try his luck and see what happens but he’s saying he doesn’t want to risk it, please is there any way for him to explain to the VO maybe in a cover letter or something else why he had to work those hours,

is it a bit better that he started working past 20 hours after lectures but during dissertation writing, can he also get a care sponsorship job as it is 2 months before the expiration of his visa and he’s been trying for weeks to get a care job but no luck.

Please don’t ignore as all advise are welcomed and my friend is very depressed now, we are trying to help but scared he might unalive himself because the financial pressure of going back to Nigeria might be too much.
Adding a cover letter will mean instant refusal. In some cases he might get a narrow escape if UKVI did not check his NI and work details, but if he add a cover letter he is self convicting himself. There is no reasonable and acceptable excuse to violet the rules of your student visa. before the visa was granted, I believe he presented proof of adequate funds to UKVI ?

This is very sad and heartbreaking that you have to wish such evil on an innocent boy whose only crime is to be born underprivileged.

Why not pray for him to grow up to become something better and meaningful to the public?

It's quite sad.

Quick question supreme mentors!

Abeg if I have a valid visa in an expired passport will I be able to use it?

I have a 5-year US visa and my passport will expire in March 2024, will I be able to use the visa in the old passport together with my new passport to travel or the visa because invalid as my passport expires!

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am currently residing in the United Kingdom, having overstayed my visa by a period of two years. However, I am now looking to return to Nigeria with my wife, who is a British citizen, for the purpose of getting married. I am seeking guidance on how best to approach the issue of my overstay and how to present a compelling case for the granting of a visa.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.
You mean your partner not your wife. If you travel to Nigeria and reapply for a visa, the probability that you will be denied ranges from 0.51-1. And you can't get married in the UK if you are illegal. You case will be better if you have a child that is a British citizen if not marrying a British citizen alone will not suffice.

Digitron:
Even though I am a stunch Obedient and a firm believer that Obi will win, this poll is faulty.

Nigeria is too diverse to relly on a 1000 response to guage the mood of the nation. Any poll that wants to be taken seriously must gather data from at least 1000 people in each LGA which is about 774,000 people.

That is the only way to have a reliable poll
That is not how statistics works my boss.

1000 is the optimal number of samples for a good survey. This is scientifically proven. Increasing the sample size will not significantly reduce the error.

I have attached a picture that explains this better.

If you have population of 100,000,000 using a sample size of 1000 is the optimal and feasible solution with just about 2.79% error.

Increasing the sample size will not significantly reduce the error.

The only thing you need to ensure is to make sure that your sample is inclusive and represent all demography .

Where Tinubu wan come get him votes from like this?

South-South and South-East are already out of it...(This Region despise Tinubu with passion.)
Some people are just Giving Tinubu hope in this Region. They're after his Mobilization money.

The only Region they are banking on which is the North is now doing somehow.

Truth is, if Kwankwaso doesn't collapse his structure for Tinubu, Tinubu stands no chance in this Election.

Until Kwankwaso aligns with Tinubu, this Election is between Obi and Atiku.
Tinubu still remains the jagaban ooo. Do not underestimate him. I personally think Him and PO remains the top two candidate. Tinubu will beat Atiku in some northern states, add it to the south west vote.

PO is exceptionally lucky that Atiku, Tinubu and Kwankwoso will be dragging the north. Tinubu has SW, PO has SS and SE. The NC is a battle ground for the 3 candidates with PO having a fair chance. The NW, NE is for Tinubu and Atiku, with kwankwoso eating a little from the pot.

All the same, this election will be one of the most dynamic election in Nigeria. May the best candidate emerge.

Hello Mentors,

I got an offer with a top Engineering and Management consulting firm, with a start date of 11th September 2023.

They said they need to switch me to a skilled worker visa prior to my starting date.

I just got a mail this morning, to submit all the necessary documents, that they will proceed with the visa application immediately.

I started my MSc last year September so I will be graduating this September which is still 7-8months ahead.

My question are:
1) Should I proceed with the application now or wait till closer to my course end date ?

2) They said they will cover the cost of visa fee but I'm expected to pay the IHS fee myself which is currently £625 x no of years ( however, they included a caveat that if I should inform them if I can't afford it) should I go ahead and informed them that I cannot afford it, will they offer to pay it on my behalf ?

3) My current student visa will expire 30th January 2024, which means I still have about 1year of IHS surcharge left. Will this be transferred or can I claim it back?

Hi guys,

Asking for a friend,

For a first time traveller to UK? Does the UK require persons to travel from their country of nationality?
For example, if you apply for a UK visa from Nigeria, receive approval, and then for instance you travel to Ghana, can you travel from Ghana to UK directly or must return to country of application Nigeria before travelling to UK?
You can travel from anywhere in the world, as long as you have a valid passport and visa

Bro put me through on the steps to this US Ph.D scholarship.
Please don't see this my responses as rude, I type this with the utmost respect because I understand that Nigerians are easily provoked when you tell them the truth.

If you ask this question on a thread like this, it simply means that you are not a PhD scholarship material.

There are a lot of Nigerians on Youtube and Twitter who are creating steady contents on how to secure PhD funding. the truth is you must be capable of independent research to do a PhD. Asking questions like this doesn't show you've done your research.

Firstly, try to do your research to get a general overview of what is required, and if you have a more direct and personal question, you can now come back and ask, and we will be happy to support you.

once again, I apologise if you think my response is rude and that I should've ignored the post. I wrote this response out of love and respect, hoping that you or any other person reading this will see reason from it.

Hello

Thanks for providing this information

There is a section but it doesn't mean it hasten anything
The documents needed from people with these scholarships are not the same as the others.

Marshall scholarship is also UK/International

Very helpful to read..Thanks

Cheers
I think it does hasten the process considerably, once you tick yes and input your reference number, they can confirm it on their system as they have the data handy. There is absolutely no need of trying to verify your POF, sending NSF to query about your study gap or work experience which can take significant amount of time.

They know that the scholarship committee shortlisted the brightest talents.

PS: I applied for UK visit visa last year October using the COP26 route, my visa fee was waved and my application processed in 5 working days even when I didn't pay for any priority service.

Hello,

The option for student with scholarship section exists during visa application?

What options are there?

Does it hasten the process when you choose that?

Do you have a screenshot?

Maybe this is recent, advise please so others can learn

Cheers
During your visa application you see an option that asks if you are a recipient of either the Marshall, Chevening or Commonwealth scholarship.

I think the Marshall is for US students. But the Chevening and Commonwealth is applicable to Nigerians.

I think they also wave visa application fee for this scholars (not too sure)

Hello,

No it doesn't exist

All student visa application are the same with scholarship or not.it is the evidence you upload that tells whether the above applies.

What used to fasten visa application was priority or super priority, unfortunately these options are not available for now

Hi Duches,

It does exist ooo. You can confirm

Hello house.

On IOM website, there is a visa type called 'student visa with scholarship'.
I want to ask if this visa type option also exists at the point of applying for visa.
If it does, does it have a chance of making the visa approved faster or with less hassles?

Thanks in advance.
Yes it does. If you will applied for visa through the scholarship route your application will be given VIP treatment.

PS: They only recognized British government funded scholarships like Chevening and Commonwealth

Omo to be honest I no know. I booked around April when I was not sure if I will still travel or not, as I was awaiting confirmation from my funders. I tried a couple of times and didn't see any appointment date.
One Saturday morning I tried and saw available dates I just decided to chose 13th May to allow considerable time to get the confirmation I needed and sort my documents.

Mine was just luck.

Is there a way to know if the embassy has handed over my passport to the courier and it's been delayed by the courier service?

Germany embassy usually process visa very fast and I'm already worried by this delay. My expected travel date in on 4th June which is in approximately a week.

The interview was pretty straightforward with loads of questions.

1st the lady went through my passport and saw my previous Egyptian visa, she asked what I went to do in Egypt? I told her I had a meeting with the Egyptian Government, she looked surprised and ask what I do

Then, she flipping my passport and saw the UK visa she took time to examine it an then proceed with the questions. Most of them related to my purpose of travel and work.

But thats not the whole story.
