Your point does not still hold water. Whatever means people use to japa is no one's business. Some people migrated via sea and sought asylum when they arrived, and most of them are doing very well afterward.

You need to take heart and take a painkiller because more people are coming into the UK, no be you get uk. If you think they are low-skilled people, then you can relocate to another planet because their employers are not complaining. It is only bad belle people like you who are in severe pain because you don't want to see any other person succeed except yourself.

That your cousin wey you dey oppress for naija, wey you refused to show d way , is coming this December! grin O yah vex again!!

You are turning this into a personal attack, which is very bad.
I came into the UK last year, so I am even part of the new cohort and wave of immigrant that I'm referring to. I am not even successful yet talk more of not wanting others to succeed.

Again you are wrong, The UK uses PBS and Canada does not, so its quicker to get the UK visa because they use box ticking system.

The UK visa processing is a lot quicker compared to Canada that takes months and months when you apply from Nigeria.

Its even cheaper to get Canadian visa than what people pay to get the UK visa.

If you think that many Nigerians that come to the UK through health care visa does not have the education or skills then you hang around the uneducated ones.

You just reemphasized everything I said about. It's cheaper to go to Canada yet they chose UK that's more expensive without a direct PR option why?

It take more time to process Canada visa, which is why I said those that rushed to the UK. The emphasis on rush.

grin grin grin Just imagine that line from an immigrant! Some of you will be worse than Suella if you manage to get to the decision-making table in the UK or whatever country you migrated to. I have said here before that some people are not just happy to see their fellow Nigerians migrating like them because they want to keep on oppressing those they left at home. but God passed them. Immigration issue na season film: when one series ends, another go start so no cause for alarm.

So an immigrant shouldn't have an opinion? Why are you all pretending ? Most people paying £10k to get a care COS from Nigeria, if they qualify for Canada PR they won't be paying such outrageous sum to come to the UK to do care.
Over 80% of Nigerians that migrated from Nigeria to the UK on skilled worker visa came through the heathcare worker route.

So when I said many Nigerian that rushed to the UK won't qualify for Canadian student or PR route I stand by it 100%.

I've met many that have been denied either Canada or US student visa b4 trying the UK.

Stop the hypocrisy and check the Nigerians among you, mostly those working in care sector, how many of them have the education (not including any MSc obtained in the UK) , skillset, experience and age to secure the top CRS point for Canada PR route ?

I know we have some very brilliant and talented Nigerians in the UK, so I try not to generalize.

The keywords in my post is Many not majority and rush (you can't rush to Canada, it's simply impossible).

That is not true.

80% of Nigerian students in my cohort did fake proof of fund and were struggling to pay tuition, most of them are married with kids and average age above 30years old. There is no way many of them will be granted Canadian student visa unless they are on scholarship or going for PhD.

How is it not true ?

PS: I didn't say all, I said many.

The issue with the Uk's immigration system is that it is skewed toward reducing the number of people who want to settle down permanently and you can't blame people for looking elsewhere when all the music of bringing down net migration begins to play. As it stands today only the Uk among the Western nations requires you to be on a skilled worker visa for 5 years before thinking of becoming a permanent resident.

My main issue has always been why tie people's visas to where they work? Apart from the Global Talent visas what other visas are available for people especially for highly skilled people to obtain and be able to work? The other visa they call high visa or whatever it is called for those who graduated from top 100 universities and it doesn't make sense as folks still need to get a sponsored skilled visa to continue to work in the UK. With all the noise, it's still the healthcare sector that grants more work visas which is for care workers. it's obvious many UK companies do not sponsor skilled worker visas.

People need to plan and move ahead with their lives and if they see the Uk as becoming hostile, they will move elsewhere which is what the UK actually wants to achieve its goal of bringing down net migration.

Only the UK? Have you check Switzerland immigration policy? Or you just limited your analysis to UK, US Canada and then conclude?

LOL

We arent discussing approval rates. Btw, Canada also lets in lots of people via the PR route and it has been on since forever and theyre still looking for ways to make things right for legal immigrants.

Also, for the approval rate UK, do they not collect money? Did they not increase IHS rates too? School fees also went up twice for my school and I heard they have removed discount they usually give and instalmental payments

Imagine boosting an economy with £42bn in 1 year and all you get na complain every 7 days

https://www.theguardian.com/education/2023/may/16/international-students-boosted-uk-economy-by-42bn-in-20212-study

Its their country tbf but mehn ...

Canada let in the brightest and most talented people through the PR scheme, many of the people that rushed to the UK will not even be eligible to enter Canada either through student route or the PR route you mentioned.

I don't know why this argument always boils down to comparing UK immigration policies with other countries like Canada and Australia. Each country is unique and will do what they think it's best for their country. If you don't like it then move to Canada or Australia (But then again most people can't because they won't meet the criteria)

The truth remains that why the UK had good intentions but people and immigrants alike abused the system which then makes it unsustainable and they have to restrategise.

People selling COS
People having fake marriages to bring in dependents
Student coming to UK without any means of paying tuition
People rushing on Student visa without any intention of studying and abandoning their studies for carework

These are the issues that is causing the problems.

Interesting but you have to put it all together and see where I am coming from as this is not the first time I am speaking about it.

Can you tell me the immigration strategy for the UK? Will it be the same in 5 yrs? Since I have been here, they have changed policies for the worse at least twice. I know a PSW ban in the future isn't off the table because it is their way. Milk the cow and then discard it, per usual

From where I stand and as of now, for students, it looks like they're out to milk us sotey and yet, complains and complains. I can't say its not better than being in Nigeria, it is

If you check what each country has to offer students, the UK comfortably has the worst package and yet, the highest fees to pay for everything. PSW in AU was increased from 3 to 5 yrs, at a cost of about AUD1,800, less than the reported £2,900 for students from next year. Canada's PSW also is about £240

AU and Canada realised students would be battling the effects of this global turmoil you spoke about and asked that students can work more than 20 hrs/ week. UK did not offer or even think of it, instead, Unis increased school fees

I could go on and on but their current strategy exploits students and the least they can do is to stop crying about students every 7 market days as if they do not contribute shingbain to the economy. They want money but they dont want an increase in population, no be juju be that? grin

There is no perfect country or system but at least some stability is needed

What is the student visa approval rate for Canada and Australia compare that to the UK.

Canada and Australia has some of the most strict and unfair visa approval & denial rate, so they take in just a few students, whereas UK has an almost 98% student visa approval rate.

Hi friends.
Naturally I'm someone who believes in hard work and stretching one's self to the limit to get things done.
However, I think some of our people coming into the UK recently need to slow down a little!
Too many sudden deaths recently, three that I am aware of.
One student slumped last week in Scotland, he was doing two jobs plus make shift kabu kabu. Another just placed his head on a table for a short nap and never woke up, he was doing nights in a warehouse and support work on day shifts. The third slumped on a shop floor in a warehouse...
The bills can wait please, everybody has a limit. All these run run is taking it's toll on the body, built up stress can be deadly!

This is not hardwork, packing shifts front and back is not hardwork, it's just greed and taking the easy way out.
As immigrants, our goal shouldn't be to increase the number of hours we work, rather to increase the amount we earn per hour.

Hardwork is doing an indepth personal reflection and mapping out key personal and professional development steps and religiously pursue it. Making yourself more valuable.
That is the hardwork, unfortunately many people try it and give up the next seconds after hitting one or two brick walls and will gladly stick to doing a 60hours shift every week on minimum wage.

We own it to both ourselves, our partner and our kids,

...and who told you people ain't making plans to own their homes and become LLs of several other properties, not just one?! There is a way to subtly put certain things than just always blurting out rent money is dead money everytime.

You think it's fair to classify gambling and olosho monies as entertainment monies and call the other one dead money, right? Implying someone saying healthcare jobs are useless jobs is also kinda reasonable.

That your last sentence eh! grin grin grin
The way you always use humour to kill a serious talk is alarming! This caused a guy here a while back to be seriously pissed at you. I read the brouhaha and laughed all through.

Yes, if anybody says healthcare jobs is useless the person is reasonable. Reasonable don't always have to be when people conform to your narrative.
Healthcare job can be a useless job for someone, and a life saver for another, it doesn't make any of them wrong for voicing out their stance or opinion.

I for one is part of the category of people who believe Care job is poor and unbefitting and will never consider it even as a last resort, but it's doesn't mean that there is no dignity in labour and that people that do care job don't deserve respect.

It's like Okada riders in Nigeria, we all hold the opinion that Okada riding is not the best job and won't hope for our children to end up as Okada riders, but that doesn't mean there is no dignity is labor (even when that labor is Okada or care job or cleaners).

In the same manner even those in care wouldn't want their children to end up in the sector as healthcare assistants.

Some of you will insult and treat Okada riders, bus conductor, and cleaners in Nigeria and see them failures. But because you moved to the UK and see yourself working as a cleaner you automatically want everyone to not criticise the job.

There is dignity in honest labour, irrespective of the country of the stated Job.

'If you or your partner have an expected ‘adjusted net income’ over £100,000 in the current tax year, you will not be eligible.'

Alot of my senior colleagues do salary sacrifice of £15K-£30k just so they could benefit from this childcare thing and also to avoid paying the higher tax band.

What are you trying to say? There in place the poster mentioned that "cutting and returning an invalid BRP is invalid" so I'm not sure where you get that from?

Also, it is mandatory to cut and return your invalid BRB, infact the email from UKVI made it clear and even goes further to state that failing to do so will amount to a fine of £1k

1) IT engineering job

2) Health care assistant job.

Please which one should I choose?

PS: I have got like 5 yrs experience in the IT field from Nigeria. But folks are saying I should go for the health care assistant job cuz of higher possibility of sponsorship from the health care assistant job.

Although the IT company didn't say anything about sponsorship. But upon researching on the gov.uk site, I found out that they are actually on the list of skill worker(A rating) sponsors.

For a family earning 5k per month, break down their expense and tell me how much they are saving to be able to net NGN20,000,000 monthly.

I did not say they will save 20m monthly. A family earning $5k a month can easily save %20-30 of their income. That's $1000-1500 per month. You can convert it to naira.

But that's not the issue, the issue is quality of life, they can own a house on mortgage and pay it off over a 15-25year period (just buy paying the same amount they pay in rent or even lesser). While many people in Nigeria has been paying rent for over 30years without the possibility of ever owning the house.

Bad comparison!

The value you will get in Nigeria, is not same with that of Canada.

With 500k monthly in Nigeria, you are a king!

With $3000 monthly in Canada, you are still a pauper., but when you convert to Naira, you feel you are doing well.

Do you know how much rent, gas, groceries, phone and internet bills and not to mention the tax being sniffed out of you.

Your comparison is void. Value is different!

This is wrong! When you make statement like this it shows that you've never actually made much money in life.

Who told you that with 500k per month you are a king in Nigeria? With 500k in Nigeria you are just a regular Nigerian.
To buy a good Belgium car (2018 and above) will cost you and around 5-6million thats your 1year salary, so you will probably need to save for 3-4years to be able to afford it.

To earn 500k per month, you will need to be based in a city like Lagos, Abuja, PH, Warri or so and the average price to buy land and build a 3-4bedroom bungalow is atleast 20million, that's approximately your 4years salary, so you will need to save for atleast 10years to be able to afford it.

Totally that's 14years of savings to afford a Car and a House. How does that make you a king?

Someone based in Canada with a monthly income of $3000 will have a far better quality of life than you. He can pay all his bills and still save atleast 20% of his income, that's over 100% of your salary here in Nigeria already.

Another thing is that someone earning $3k per month in Canada is 100% certain that his wife will work and earn atleast $2k per month, which brings the total household income to $5k.

If you earn 500k in Nigeria, there is no guarantee that your wife will get a job that pays even if it's 150k.

PS: My analysis is based solely on the salary and not taking any side hustle or business into consideration as both parties can leverage that as well

One of the distinguishing features of
Conservatism is having an unfavourable view of immigrants. They are also nationalistic believing their nation is the greatest.
Because they believe this , they view immigrants with suspicion and fight any other culture apart from theirs. Sound familiar?

What they do not understand is that demographic change is inevitable. You cannot stop it. Like Japan is finding out to its cost, its allow immigration or die out.Either way another culture will take your place. Simples

Do you consider the view disgusting because you are an immigrant yourself ? If the table turn will you still find it disgusting?

Back home in Nigeria, every states hates the idea that another tribe is thriving and might overrun their hometown. So a majority of Nigerians hold that "disgusting view" on immigration.

They only consider it disgusting when they are the immigrant.

PS: I'm not saying you are one of them, I'm just trying to point out the error in your argument that "right-wing is no place for people of color". A majority of the people of color (immigrants) are right leaning when they are in their home countries, they only start having opposing views when it favors them.

Give me an example of a country where this is happening currently.

The right wing is no place for people of colour because if they win, you with your ebony skin which you cannot take off, will be the first target.
We live well with Muslims in Nigeria( Yorubaland) why is it different in the UK?

How do you define right-wing? The right-wing are the conservatives and most Africans are by default conservatives. What do you then mean that the right-wing is no place for people of color?

Have you tried to take a test to see if you are left or right leaning ?

Your questions initially didn't make any sense. You asked what time will you go for Biometrics without stating, what the Biometrics is for and where.

Is it Biometrics for Passport Renewal
Biometrics for Schegen visa, Canadian or US visa from inside the UK
Or UK visa Biometrics in Nigeria.

There in no answer to this question. Nobody gives you a job because you have a degree, be it cyber security or English literature. They give you a job because you can demonstrate that you have the key skills and strength that they require.

Even Graduate roles, will require you to go through a rigorous screening process, because it's not an experience hire, hence they needed to test your strength and skillsets to be convinced that you have what it takes to be successful in the role.

1. If i get a genuine visa sponsorship job in the UK and i'm able to relocate there with my 3 young kids (i'm divorced), work for a while and save; will i be able to get admitted into a school in UK for masters and study online?

2. Will studying online still afford me the opportunity to work full time?

3. Do you think it is possible for me to be able to survive and live decently with my 3 kids if i am working full time in UK?

4. My 1st child is 12years old; will i need a nanny? or does UK law permit a 12years old child to watch over the younger siblings? The last is 7+.

5. Is tuition expensive for kids schools?

Please help me with answers and.

I need to make aa decision but i want to understand the reality before finalizing.

Thank you all ffor your response.

1) Yes, a part-time master is far better than an online masters (part-time is two years, and it spread the payment for 2years instead of paying it one off, it also gives you enough time to joggle work and study)

2) it can be challenging as you are expected to work full-time and your classes will clash with your working hours, it's unavoidable hence my advice in Q1 above.

3) it will be challenging without additional support, except if you fall within the high earner bracket (realistic anything above £50k outside London)

4) I no too sure here.

5) Tuition is free for kids (Except if you wan go private school than you need lots and lots of money)

That's not right. Aside transparency of the process, one primary reason you can't swap a Nigerian Drivers licence with the UK is because of the right hand drive issue. Nigerian trained drivers would need additional training to learn RHD. Zimbabwe licence and some other African country can be swapped with UK license because they drive in the same Right Hand.

If Nigerian license is that bad, then they wouldn't allow Nigerian trained drivers drive on their roads for one year with their Nigerian license.

We no say naija no good but make we self dey calm down when criticising. Their many positives the country has

Your argument no too balance. If the issue if RHD then they wouldn't have allowed you to drive for one year in the 1st place. Anybody way don drive for one year don master the RHD so why require additional testing?

Many countries that drive on the opposite side of the road can convert, while some countries that drive on the same side of the road can't. I think one of the metrics they use to decide this is the "due diligence" required to obtain the license. Unfortunately, Nigeria scores quite poor in this area.

UK driving license is one of the most powerful in the world because of the due diligence required to obtain it.
