press9jatv: you neglect the people that got huge funds easily but disbursed it on frivolities, you are here attacking Tinubu. Tinubu isn't the real problem here. The real problem are the elites you all worship in your various states, communities and towns. It's very bad that millions of graduates are unemployed for the last 20 years. Don't forget that Tinubu hasn't reach power then. Na two years ago Tinubu got to power. So it's not Tinubu's fault. who Dey blame only tinubu for Nigerian woes?Nigerian problems started many years ago and only got worse cos successive leaders failed to address those issues or made it worse. |

Infotubia9ja: I see many people saying abroad is the best to study and they gave places like USA Canada etc. See the only advice I will advice any nigerian parent is this. Instead of wasting your money sending your child abroad for education or even study in nigerian institutions first please do this.
1, get your child the latest computer money can buy that your money can afford, just makesure it has very good powerful processor and a wonderful graphic card to boost his or her productivity. 2, get them stable power source to power their computer e.g and inverter.
3, get a good internet connection device e.g starlink or any one you can afford. Then push them to go to youtub. I.e youtube academy or courses or edx where they get free courses.
Now these are the courses you should encourage your child to study 100% free online as long as you make them study for good 5 to 6 hours uninterrupted daily Courses include A, robotic engineering B, artificial intelligence C, 3D modelling and agumented reality D, geology and mining ( mostly gold mining and letium mining colbat etc) F, drone modelling and drone technology. G, rocket science technology H, 3d game design and production. I, automated agricultural technology J, mechanical engineering and mechatronics K,product design and assembly. All these i just listed here you can stay for free and get so many resources on youtube to learn from great teachers you just have to know where to look.
And makesure they learn how to make use of AI( great emphasis on this) as it will help them boost their productivity. When they have like 4 to 5 years studying in that field, then send them abroad to study further. And please dont send them to any other country but China to study please dont ever make the mistake of thinking or even phantom the idea of sending them to either america or Canada etc. Let it be CHINA. And let them take extra curriculum on learning Chinese language so they can communicate easily when they get there. If you child graduates in any of these fields and he or she makes up their mind to come establish in nigeria after, give them few years they will be your greatest achievement in life and you will be so so happy you did this.
Please and please infactafter jss3, I wouldn't advice you to send your child to school further just put them to youtube academy and let them make a choice from those list above. Just make sure you keep your eyes on them and dont let outside influence to make them commit to online fraud doing yahoo because they see their friends making banks and buying cars at the moment because I the next 7 to 8 years after God's willing your children have long life and you live long to see them succeed those their mate doing fraud buying luxury stuff atm will come buy tech stuff and devices from them to survive.
In summary, never send them go higher institution in nigeria or america or Canada. Come back and thank me later. And finally pardon my grammatic errors in typing i am human and not AI. you made a lot of sense. Only difference in my point is I will allow my kids finish senior secondary school. Many Nigerians have not yet accepted the reality that degrees in Nigeria are currently a waste of time and resources. They still see those without degrees as illiterates where as most of them are the illiterates. Anybody that can read and write is no longer an illiterate. A friend that graduated two years ago and yet to secure a job was telling me she wanna go for masters in Nigeria this year, I told her I wouldn’t advise anybody to do Bsc talk more msc in Nigeria. She was now saying but me I did bsc why will I advise others not to. I told her times have changed and one has to change along with it. Some of us got degrees here because we were ill-informed. |

How do I explain to my hungry friends that they should embrace their hunger pangs when they can't even find a decent job when they are for sure qualified.
How do I explain to the man whose child was killed for money ritual to embrace the pain?
How do I explain to the family who worked so hard to buy a car but it was stolen at gun point and they are back to square one.
Nigerians are mostly hardy people by default who don't give up. But the location they find themselves make life unbearable.
What more pain can they take before folding up?
The write up make sense but people are suffering seriously that this doesn't even resonate with them truth be told some posts are not meant for people in Nigeria. We can try to mask it all we like but when all chips are down. It will be all man for himself.
It is better to live life like you are alone than to trudge along with an entitlement mindset.
This is crude clarity. The truth is raw and not expected to be palatable. if you like go and give birth to 30 children without resources to take care of them since you don’t owe them anything. This is how we have so many almajiri in our society today. In a society, each and every person has roles to play. If an individual is not playing his role well, the ripple effect can fall on you that is playing your role well. Don’t think that because you are doing well that you have escaped the problems of Nigeria. Nigeria can happen to anyone at any time. That’s why we must not be selfish at all times and learn to fight or ask for the interest of the collective. |

Shikena: It is a better mindset than going about thinking you are owed something. That's the mindset, it's for your own peace of mind and mental health as you go deeper into the heat of life battles. It is a way of staying in control rather than being at the mercy of others it is a dangerous mindset to have. The kind of mindset that would not hold government accountable after all nobody owes him anything. It’s same reason prices of things keep going up and nobody holds the government responsible cos they don’t owe us anything. Same reason why there is insecurity in every part of the country, we can’t call those responsible cos they don’t owe us anything. If nobody owes you anything, you shouldn’t even be out here interacting cos nobody owes you attention or response. It is good to rely heavily on oneself to navigate through life’s challenges but that doesn’t mean nobody owes you anything. If nobody owes you anything as you claim, then Build your own road, grow your own food, make your own phone e.t.c. Why do you pay taxes to the government if they owe you nothing? |

Why did you allow them feed you, cloth you or send you to school since they didn’t owe you. Abeg, make we no deceive ourselves. There are times that people will owe you. If you are that strong and independent, why don’t you go and live in a cave or in the forest. The phone you are using to type,if there was no one that sat down to create it would you have had a phone? Saying nobody owes you is declaring yourself an island. |

Op is not entirely correct. In the case where the people vote in a leader to represent their interests, the leader owes them. If he doesn't perform, the people should be able to hold him responsible. How will a society where no one is held responsible or accountable function? There will be chaos,as everyone can behave the way they like since they don't owe anyone good behaviours. Just imagine you pay for bad services, instead of holding service provider accountable for poor services rendered; you instead tell your self nobody owes you anything, you are cheating and deceiving yourself. |

You seem not to really understand what is going on.The issue is not that we have foreigners in our midst. The issue is the government nonchalant attitude towards handling insecurity. If it was peaceful protests that was going on they would have quelled it in no distant time. If it was iPob,they would have done operation python dance to bring it to a halt. Why is kidnapping, bandit, bokoharam and other terrorist groups not handled in the same manner and might? |

Gerrard59: When I say Nigerian political elites have failed, this is a perfect example. For those pushing the Edo state governor to do something - which he won't do anyway as he's an APC member - the reality is that nothing would happen.
Months ago, there was rampant kidnapping in a part of Edo state; traditional rulers complained, youths cried out for help as their women were killed and lands intruded into. As no help was forthcoming, they prepped themselves and decided to enter the forest where they believed hostages are held and the criminals (Fulani herdsmen) conducted their activities. What happened afterwards? The Nigerian police went to the said community to arrest the youths! I'm not making this up - everything is on Google. This leads us to one bitter truth. This kidnappers are sponsored by the elites. The whole security issues in Nigeria are sponsored by the government. Just imagine the might and force they use to stop protest compared to how they handle bandits and other terrorists with kid gloves. Until The people come together and understand that this fight is between them and the government,Nigeria is irredeemable. |

We4all: Kidnapping for ransom is now a thriving business because the security agents are not doing enough to curtail the situation. And to the posters above who mentioned Fulani...this is for you....Since kidnapping is now a profitable business, every Nigerian tribe is now involved; same way they started POS business when it became lucrative. Recently, a year plus old baby was kidnapped from a creche in Abuja alongside his nanny by a Tiv man and a ransom was demanded. They still went ahead to kill the victims after the ransom was paid. Fortunately, the man was apprehended and his accomplice was an Ibo man.
My point is, no tribe is innocent of this growing menance and knowing Nigerians, they won't stop as long as people keep paying ransom and the security agents cannot use the ransom as bait to nab them. At this rate, since the government cannot protect its citizens, we must rise up to defend ourselves. I can imagine what the victims are going through and I don't wish that on anyone, but they should have it in mind that they are dealing with their fellow humans and the reason they are scared is because they are not armed. In other words, they are not afraid of the kidnappers but only afraid of their guns. What if they device a means to disarm them instead of waiting to die like cowards? I'm just thinking out loud. Thanks for your point. The security issues in Nigeria should not be tribalized. We are all facing it together one way or the other. There has to be a way the people will have to put a stop to this since our government don’t care. Paying ransoms only strengthens the kidnappers and encourages more persons to go into such lucrative venture. At this point in my life that I’m no longer scared of death,I would fight to escape or die trying if I find myself in such situation. |
