£30k is not a lot for a family with an infant. Process your documents and you can land with them. Then come back with the infant while your wife get settled and understand the new environment. Hopefully within 1 month, you can reunite your baby with her mother. While you are back in Nigeria , you can also start thinking what you want to do in the UK and start prepping for it. If it's certification, networking, course, you can start while in Nigeria. Ultimately, have a plan for all of you to be together either in Nigeria or the UK within 1 year. Also note that there's a chance your wife may not want to relocate back to Nigeria. You are the only one that can decide how to proceed in such case. Godspeed |
Confidence is key. You should always dress well, and don't have a chip on your shoulder. It's actually nice when you're older but look younger. If married, you wife will not want you to cut your beards so you don't look so much younger than her. In the real world, outside secondary school, nobody really cares. Just pray for God's blessings |
How do I make frontpage sponsored post on Nairaland? |
I'm not sure if you'll see this, but you need to read up on how children learn to talk, interact with their environment and make sense of everything. Children make things up based on the littles they've seen and understand. They also fill in the gap a lot. Every child is different, so don't expect your other kids to give the same or similar responses. Your child is not reincarnated, and she is very normal. Don't start treating your lovely child differently because of this. It's frankly ridiculous. Please and please. Let her grow in her own way. kekakuz: |
What are you working on? |
Tori46:It usually like that, especially at early stage startups. Do you have equity or any significant financial rewards? There's usually pros and cons of working at a startup. If you plan to launch a startup in the future. You get to do a lot, learn a lot, be there through key stages and apply that learnings when starting your own venture. The vague job description also mean you potentially could define your scope of work or direction. Since you are literally doing everything for the first time, it is whatever you call it. If you are experiencing stress in a startup environment, especially when you have no clear job description and are asked to handle multiple tasks. You can consider the following - communicate your concerns - prioritize as much as possible - set boundaries early on. Don't work weekends or till 11pm - develop your own structure - use tech to automate your tasks and don't tell them about it. So they ask you to write 10 letters, you already have a template for it and get it done in 5 mins. But yourself extra time and tell them it will take 1 day - if you still can't cope. Dust your resume and start job search on the side.. Goodluck |
After the ceremony, with time, all those stuff ignored during the dating stage starts creeping up. My advice to you is to not ignore them the second time. Both of you should let those things out, discuss them and find a way to adjust or accomodate. Especially for folks that did not cohabit or those that their dating phase was just going out together, and very superficial. You have to have those few fights and resolve them early on. Else, bigger fights may come or resentment. Also, don't focus only on the negatives from familiarity, there are positives. You guys will vibe and connect. You will know what you partner is thinking or how they will react to any situation. You can anticipate their needs and they can anticipate your needs. |
I know your point is that they are with the wrong people and are miserable. But that's not always true. That's the fun and uncertainty in life. There's no hard and fast rule. A pencil can be miserable being with a nut, while another pencil is happy with a nut. A bolt can find life fun and pushed to greatness by being with a sharpener. Being with people that are similar or complementary doesn't necessarily mean the partnership will work. Do you know how many sharpeners married a pencil, thinking they will always be the ones sharpening their pencil. But it's one slim sharp knife that is sharpening their pencil outside. Some sharpeners gets beaten every night by their so called pencils. |
Look for Chapter 36, Section 402 https://jurist.ng/act/criminal_code_act |
Just so you know, in Chapter 36, Section 402 of the Criminal Code Act. The Punishment for armed robbery (robbery with offensive weapon) is death. For all intent, they could have killed the woman robbed. Many people have been killed that way on their way to work from robbery gone bad. It's just that justice is never served when the offenders are rich. |

Hello house. Please any advice on how to retrieve a passport from VFS? My in-laws submitted their passports (PPR) just before the lock-down started in March and they've been expecting their passport/COPR back since then. It has been approved on IRCC portal and it seems it's stuck with VFS . Kindly advise. |
Hello everyone. Can anyone help confirm if VFS office in Lagos is opened? Specifically, are they processing passport transmission? They have been with my friend's approved passport for a while now. Thanks. |
Hello all, My sister got her medical request yesterday. Kindly advise how to get a closer date in Lagos. When she checked Qlife, earliest date she saw was in March. How can she go about getting a closer date. Ideal date will be next Monday because her leave ends on Tuesday. Does anyone have a booked slot that they are not using? Please help a sister! We also noticed it's only QLife & IOM, why was Children/Consultant Practice removed from the list? Thank you. |

In case anyone out there needs information on extending the PPR submission deadline, read on. My spouse and I got our "Read for Visa/Pret pour Visa" email mid-June with a 15 days submission deadline (due June 28). For a variety of reasons, we couldn't meet the deadline. My spouse's new passport (change of name) was under processing in Abuja while I had a pre-planned trip. We replied the PPR email (and cc-ed the Ottawa office) on June 25 requesting a 60 days extension. We got a response 3 days later (June 28 evening) approving our extension request (they actually extended it by almost 3 months!). We also filled the IRCC webform on June 28 morning (before we received the response to our first email) explaining our case. There was no immediate response till July 25 (almost a month). The response received confirmed their awareness of the extension. By the way, PPR timeline and testimony coming soon. Cheers! |
