Politics / Re: PDP Accepts Defeat & Congratulates Mimiko by highlandre(m): 6:43am On Oct 22, 2012
It's becoming clearer that PDP is re-oriented. One, by presenting a very sound and credible candidate in form of Olusola Oke, and two, this display of sportsmanship by accepting defeat and congratulating LP's candidate, Gov Mimiko with whom they had keenly competed. I'm, however, surprised that A.C.N still feels there's something to be reviewed despite the purported free and fair nature of the election.

Tinubu should forget the personal vendetta against Mimiko and tell other party leaders to congratulate the LP candidate, who clearly and convincingly won the very competitive election. I'm sure Asiwaju, who went all the way to America for the Democratic party's National Convention learnt that in every election, there is a loser and a victor. It is in this spirit tha his party should accept this defeat in good faith and restrategize for the future. You win some, lose some: life says.

Congratulations to Mimiko

Politics / Re: ACN Vows To Challenge Mimiko's Election Victory by highlandre(m): 6:03am On Oct 22, 2012
Why did the OP mislead us that A.C.N is heading to court? By the way, the electorates are getting wiser by the day that voting for party rather than the goodness and credibility of candidates is the bane of corruption and underperformance by political office holders.

Another lesson here is that no matter how small or unpopular your party is, if your candidate is credible, he stands a great chance of getting the electorates confidence and votes just as witnessed in the case of Mimiko.

I don't care whether A.C.N accepts defeat or not, I just wanna congratulate the people of Ondo State for voting right despite the media instruments against Mimiko and political lies of other political parties. I hope other states can take a cue from this.

God bless Nigeria!

I don't know why this doesn't just surprise me. Boko Haram is a creation of some powerful Northern elites for reasons best know to them.

My prayer is that the tide of killings flying everywhere in this country will not touch you and I. Amen!
NYSC / Re: Congratulations To All NYSC 2011 Batch C Corps Members Passing OutToday by highlandre(m): 8:45am On Oct 18, 2012
First of all, congrats. (2) know that all those theories and x+y don't really work in the real world; you need to be smart and opportunistic. (3) don't rely on promises to get job from anyone cos if you do, be ready for the shock of your life! (4) don't under-rate any opportunity or job that comes your way, it may be the gate-way to the real thing. (5) better understand that white-collar jobs don't pay that much, and that people in suit don't necessarily earn better than those in d informal businesses (6) be creative and acquire other non formal skills: who knows what will put food on your table? (7) don't discriminate against any offer that comes your way, whether it is what you studied in school or not. (8.) pray fervently, and trust God alone! Be blessed!

Education / Re: Fashola Orders Scrapping Of Laspotech’s Satellite Campuses by highlandre(m): 1:13pm On Oct 16, 2012
One finds it difficult to know what these lecturers are grumbling for/trying to protect: the students, their own extra pay, or IGR? Truth be told, external campuses are but a mess, and not capable to produce truly sound personnel.

Most of the lecturers in those campuses are usually not qualified to handle teaching at tertiary institution level, and the students, many of whom must have found it hard to gain admission through the direct medium of JAMB, are subjected to over-populated class rooms, thereby reducing their level of concentration and assimilation. It is not usual on these satellite campuses to find students bribing lecturers to get good grades whilst knowledge is not really acquired.

I would however, advise for caution in scrapping these campuses for the sake of the students.
Politics / Re: Behave Like A Statesman, Are U An Area Boy?- Mimiko Tells Tinubu by highlandre(m): 6:36am On Oct 16, 2012
I don't believe in words, I focus on votes. If Mimiko feels he's done well enough to be re-elected, then he should pay less attention to A.C.N's campaigns and rallies.

But seriously, I think this election is the most competitive in the recent past in Nigeria. The A.C.N, PDP candidates and Mimiko are very close in their chances of winning Saturday's gubernatorial election. We shall see!

Seek God's forgiveness, never open those legs for him again, and jor go get married fast or get a partner! The more you remain single or unmarried, the easier it's gonna be to even sleep with your daughters' husbands when you get tipsy again. Lastly, by all means, avoid seeing your friend's husband. Thank you
Politics / Re: Oshiomhole Fires 20 Teachers In Edo For Absenteeism by highlandre(m): 2:52pm On Oct 11, 2012
I wish there is an option that says 'Hate' on Nairaland Forum, then I would quickly have hated some nagging, backward-going comments in here. Oshiomole did the right thing by sacking the under-performing teachers and some dudes come here to castigate him! Nigeria has a long way to go.

I'm beginning to think followers, not really leaders, are the problems of this country. The other day, someone was openly defending the disease called 'man-know-man', which has promoted mediocrity and ruined excellence in our society. God, pls intervene in the lives of my people!!!

Politics / Re: Bakassi: C-river Challenges Adoke, Says ‘we Presented New Facts’ by highlandre(m): 8:52am On Oct 10, 2012
I commiserate with the people of Bakassi, but sincerely, I think FG's decision not to appeal the 2012 judgment may have been based on a critical assessment of what Nigeria stands to lose should the appeal lack clear-cut merit. Since the people of Bakassi are Nigerians, any reasonable government would not disembark on reclaiming the territory provided there is enough facts to do so.

Let's not blame GEj for not pursuing an appeal of the judgement; damage was done to the case during the 'Green-Tree' agreement. However, President Jonathan should ensure that these Bakassi people are not left to their fate, as spirited effort must be made to re-integrate them into the Nigerian society, whilst making available welfare packages to cushion the gross effects of their loss.

Nice write up, but can we pls act? Words are needless these days: good English has taken us nowhere abeg! Let's take our destiny in our hands by being the change we desire.

In Libya, Tunisia, Egypt and currently Syria, where people are being killed everyday by their own government, they hardly talk, their weapon lies in their actions! These barbarism and other condemnable acts can only be stopped when we all gather in units and quantum and kick against them.

The truth is we don't know who's next...I pray it's not me and you sha.
Education / Re: Uniport Students Protest: Live Feeds by highlandre(m): 3:54pm On Oct 09, 2012
"Evil thrives when good people refuse to do something"......."In the end, the noise of the enemies will not matter, but the silence of friends" anonymous quotes.

Aluu killings, Boko Haram assassinations, the day-to-day incidents of accidents and robberies etc are not natural disasters; there is a good relationship between these events and our individual and group contributions.

From today, let's talk less and act more. "Show me a society and i will tell you the kind of leader and followers it has". Enough of talks, it's time to act!

I'm becoming sick of A.CN stance on issues these days. They are coming with this derogation now because Bakare predicted a few days ago that Mimiko will win October 20 election by landslide. If you don't share their view or support them, then you must be condemned!

I'm beginning to see this A.C.N differently these days. Their desperation is scary
