2 things may have happened on the trip.

1. Estimated range of fare is only a guess, it can be very different from actual fare. It is best you hold extra money and bolt will always put that caveat. Some riders equate bolt and uber to danfo which is wrong.

2. The riders mostly likely were rude to the driver, some would say pls speed, overtake everyone I am late for my appointment. Maybe they insulted the driver or anything close to it. Some drivers do take it while others wont.

Besides a difference of N200 isnt significant, why not pay and make your report to bolt on the app. You may get a refund or bonus.

Servicing every 4000 km driven. That should cost you around 8-10k, assuming you are using good oil.
Cost of registration at the park and daily ticket levies. You have to find out.
Police payment can't be daily, so set aside a small sum.
Set aside monies weekly for repairs, maintenance and emergencies.

I am an uber and taxify driver of over 2yrs with over 3,000 trips within Lagos. Do you know how many chartered accountants, doctors, engineers, bankers etc do uber either part time or full time? You feel anyone driving on uber and taxify platforms are touts, drop outs or no hoppers.

I support Falz on this one. What is bad is bad no matter the colouration or the players involved. At least, an artist can speak about societal ills for once. We blame govt for everything forgetting that we followers also share part of the blame.

Can we remedy this anomaly? Time will tell, I sincerely hope we can take back the country and chart a new course for generations to come.

I have a 2014 Hyundai elantra I bought brand new while I was still in the bank but the engine is bad and needs a replacement. I have since lost my job 2 years ago.

I am at a dilema as to whether to dispose it as it is or fix it and use it on uber and taxify. The challenge is the funds to fix it, its costing 600k for the engine alone.
Current saleable price right now with the bad engine is 500k which is too low.

Issue is how to raise the funds to fix the car and repay within 6/months as I am yet to secure another job yet. All finance houses approached declined my enquiry.

In Lagos, this biz has gone down drastically. Our fortunes went south when uber reduced fares by 45% while leaving their commission unchanged. And too many vehicles on uber and taxify platforms, such that earning per driver has dipped seriously.

I have been driving on both platforms for 2 yrs now and I have done close to 3000 trips on both platforms. The issues are:

Incredibly low fares
Car jacking, snatching especially at night
Fraudulent riders who always refuse to pay
Bad roads leading to frequent repairs
Traffic gridlocks
High cost of spare parts and maintenances
Few or non existent price surges
Death of drivers due to greater insecurity and accidents due to fatigue.
High commission charged. Uber charges 25% while taxify charges 15%

All these and other factors have reduced drivers earning considerably hence any driver that makes 60k-100k weekly is a star and lucky chap. Requests are few and far in between,

Drivers are not meeting up with payments, it's very tough and unpredictable now.

Personal advice is dont get carried away by false info out there. This is the truth and reality. If you must invest, play down your expectations or stay away to avoid avoidable heart aches.
