Politics / Re: "Do Not Vote For A Muslim President" - Pastor Paul Adefarasin by Homonide: 1:40pm On Nov 18, 2010 |
Ericology:There is nothing wrong in practising Sharia, as long as it isn't foisted on non-muslims. Islam preaches tloerance btw muslims and non-muslims, The freedom of religion is enshrined in the Constitution of Nigeria, as well as the freedom of association. But we all know that Sharia has been bastardised and politicised in Nigeria,so the aim has been defeated right from the onset. As for Boko Haram, they are nothing but a bunch of 'misguided' bigots who are being used by some powerful elements for their own selfish interest. Prophet Muhammed (PBUH) said muslims should seek knowledge, as far as CHINA. BOKO ISNT HARAM. |
Politics / Re: "Do Not Vote For A Muslim President" - Pastor Paul Adefarasin by Homonide: 1:26pm On Nov 18, 2010 |
As a 'revered' MOG, i'm really surprised that the Pastor could utter such unguided statements.I really hope the journalist misquoted him, if not, then i sorry for naija o. The 'sermon' is so ill-informed that one wonder if this pastor ever went to school at all,if he did, then he is the classic example of an uneducated illiterate. By the way, where did he get his figure of 100 million christains in Nigeria? I'm also surprised by some comments of some religious jingoists and bigots on the issue here on NL, especially those of naijaking1. Nigerians should rise above ethnic, religious, and parochial interest in order to move this country forward. |

Women should just have it @the back of their minds that MEN ARE NATURALLY POLYGAMOUS, and they kind of like VARIETY! Sometimes, it doesn't have anything to do with whether they love their wives or not. |

Simply put, Homosexuality isn't accepted in this clime. Personally, i detest it, i'm not judging Jenny, but she shouldn't have had "it" with her Boss' daughter. She got what she deserved. PERIOD!. |
Culture / Re: Should Inter-tribal Marriages Be Encouraged? by Homonide: 2:18pm On Jun 30, 2010 |
First, the choice of which tribe to marry is a personal decision. As much as inter-tribal marriages would foster unity in the country, it cannot be decreed. People have different perceptions of different tribes, however founded or otherwise and it is virtually impossible to convince them. As for me, the choice of who to marry isn't solely based on tribe, even though it might be a criteria. |

Sports / Re: South Africa World Cup 2010 Officiating by Homonide: 3:22pm On Jun 22, 2010 |
As much as we all know that referees are human beings too, they are bound to make errors, as human beings are fallible. I have actually seen referees err in the ongoing WC in SA, but i've also seen some very bad decisions on the part of the referees, which make me think that some of them have actually been compromised. Apart from the USA game, the worst has been the match between Brazil & Ivory Coast. I wonder what the French referee, Stephane Lannoy was thinking, i mean he obviously saw the handballs. What the heck was he discussing with the Cheat, Fabiano? I mean he had given a goal already, was he expecting Fabiano to confess that he did handle the ball twice? It was stupidity of the highest level, and i just hope FIFA would do something to punish the referee to serve as a deterrent to others. By that singular act, the French referee has added another ideology to the existing "kaitaism" and "kakaism" that have been developed in the ongoing World Cup. It is called "Lannoyism". |
Sports / Re: Lgerback Contract To Be Extended by Homonide: 12:54pm On Jun 22, 2010 |
First, let me reiterate my conviction that the problem with Nigerian football is chiefly that of Administration- the FA. Until we put the right people in charge of our football, we shall continue to fail. Lets put square pegs in square holes and other things would follow naturally. Next, Football the world over is about hire and fire, based on performance of course. I have never been a supporter of employing a Coach simply because he is white, rather i believe competence should be the watchword. I don't have anything against Lagerback, but it is of my opinion that he would have FAILED if he fails to @ least progress to the knock out stages. After watching the match against Greece, i'm not that convinced of the technical and tactical ability of the Coach, especially after the slowpoke kaita was given the marching order. I couldn't discern whether the team were defending, or even attacking @ that. I felt Nigeria should have gotten @ least a draw out of that match. There is no gainsaying the fact that continuity is important, but we should not sacrifice competence for continuity. As far as i'm concerned, the present Eagles squad needs to be overhauled and @ least 60% of the players need to be shown the door. What we need is a disciplined and committed coach, who is ready to work in Nigeria, first with the home based players that we have. It doesn't matter whether he is foreign or local, as long as he has the requisite credentials to manage the Eagles. The Coach should be given a 2 years contract with winning the next Africa Cup of Nations as the benchmark. That way, the Coach has all the time to build a new Eagles who can restore our lost hopes and produce a solid and disciplined squad. |

Sports / Re: Sani Kaita Apologizes by Homonide: 5:20pm On Jun 18, 2010 |
The illiterate nincompoop couldn't even construct one error free sentence, ", i go at him, " Instead of the fool to tender an unreserved apology (which might not be accepted anyway) to All Nigerians and Africa as a whole, he tried to justify his stupid actions. FL Gators:"So the guy kicked the ball and he hit me with the ball, " (which isn't even a foul), and he lashed @ him as if he was playing in his GOD-forsaken hometown. This is the WC for GOD's sake. I bet the goat doesn't know what a WC is. GOD go punish u kaita. Apology my foot! |
Sports / Re: Sani Kaita Vs Abdul Mutallab by Homonide: 4:50pm On Jun 18, 2010 |
iphy42: Forgive and Forget my foot!!!! I posted on FB yesterday after the MUMU called kaita acted like his lunatic forefathers that if Nigeria fails to secure the maximum point in that game, a FATWA should be declared on him. Its not by showing remorse, what the heck!!!! This is what happens when we field players that illiterates, players that have no sense of history whatsoever. In my opinion, Kaita should be declared a persona non grata in Nigeria. OLOSI, OLORIBURUKU, AKOSIBERU, BUZU, Suffice to say kaita is the fucking worst. Compared with what Kaita did yesterday, Abdul Mutallab was a SAINT!!!! |
Sports / Re: Amodu Would Have Done Better Than Laggerback Against Argentina by Homonide: 4:18pm On Jun 15, 2010 |
I was tempted to dismiss this thread @ first, but i've seen some really ridiculous comments on it. First, it looks as if the comparison between Amodu and Lagerback arose simply because Nigeria lost to Argentina. Argentina won that match not because they had a better team, but because they have better individual players one on one (never mind the sleeping on duty attitude of Nsofor). As much as i sympathize with Amodu on the treatment meted out to him after he narrowly qualified the Country for the WC for the second time and then sacking him, i make bold to say that his successor has done a decent job of the Eagles despite the short time he has been in charge. The team for one is more tactically disciplined compared to the Eagles of Amodu, bearing in mind that Lagerback is practically using the same squad that fumbled @ the Nations Cup. Lagerback also did something Amodu couldn't do- setting aside sentiments and selecting a player like Haruna, given the fact that he's only the player we can call a creative midfielder in that team (the inclusion of Adeleye and Afolabi also deserve commendation). All said and done, i believe it is too early to start comparing Amodu and Lagerback, lets wait till the next two games. Suffice to say however that Lagerback is technically and tactically ahead of Amodu, from the little that i've seen of the Eagles since the Swede took charge. |
Politics / Re: Gunmen Attack Senator Saraki’s Home by Homonide: 3:21pm On Jun 15, 2010 |
kirkmikel: Are you kidding? You sincerely think his brother is so daft like u and ur ilk that he'd send "killers" to "assassinate" his "political opponent", whose only hope of realizing her dreams is the belief that her family, and most especially her father owns the State? You mean there are no other ways to stop her than assassinating her (apart from the fact that they are siblings)? You don't have to be a genius to see through the facade, it's simply a desperate set up. Time up "Alhaja" Gbemi Saraki. |

I smell a conspiracy here, a cheap attempt by Sen Saraki to make her more popular and also gain the sympathy of the average Nigerian, who wants Sen Saraki dead? Infact can anyone tell me the last time a serving top government official has been assassinated, since the state sponsored murder of Chief Bola Ige in 2001? It's no longer news that Sen Saraki is bent on ruling Kwara come 2011 despite oppositions from all quarters. Good riddance to bad rubbish! Senator, we refuse to be FOOLED. May GOD deliver Kwara State from the shackles of these feudal political family! AMEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEN. |
Music/Radio / Re: Nigerian Artistes That Should Quit Singing(time Up) by Homonide: 1:51pm On Jun 14, 2010 |
The consensus everywhere is that Tetuila has outlived his relevance in Nigeria's music industry, maybe he should try fuji or apala full time. As a matter of fact, 60% of these upcoming acts are far from being talented, only a few are (they sure have some dough and it's like money is the prerequisite for entering the studio in Nigeria these days). Naija music industry has so much charlatans. |

Fashion / Re: Why Do We Cherish Foreign Wears by Homonide: 5:12pm On Jun 10, 2010 |
To a large extent, we cherish foreign wears because of the unrivaled quality and also because that is what we grew up wearing. I mean, imagine a child that grew up wearing only native wears (probably in the village), it's just natural that he's going to love those attires. But as he grows up, and gets exposed to the modern, western world, his preference is likely to change. We cannot deny the influence of the west on lives as Nigerians, even at times when it is glaring that a foreign product is inferior or substandard to a locally made one. Maybe it is "Psychological slavery". Before u guys start spanking me, i'm not left our too. |
Politics / Re: Would Goodluck Jonathan Win A Free & Fair Election? by Homonide: 4:27pm On Jun 10, 2010 |
Becomrich0: I shouldn't look @ today, oh i should think of tomorrow right? How do we get to tomorrow? How do we put Nigeria on the path of true democracy when those who are unfortunately saddled with that responsibility are not ready to change? OK i agree that the Judiciary is not bereft of corruption (which organ of the Government is anyway?), but have u really thought of what it would be like having a relatively vibrant and honest legislature compared with the Executive? We are in a logjam in Nigeria and only a miracle can save the Country's teething democracy. We can only hope that somehow Prof Jega would conduct free and fair polls come 2011 which would usher in a new era for Nigeria's democracy and indeed hope for the common man. After that, we can now start talking about genuine and altruistic reforms in our electoral system and indeed the constitution as a whole, since our representatives would have been truly elected by the electorate, and not selected by a few Godfathers in the ruling class. Oh another option is a revolution: like Shakespeare said, "lets kill all the lawyers". Only that in our case, "lets kill the ruling class that have been holding Nigeria hostage for the past couple of decades!" |
Politics / Re: Would Goodluck Jonathan Win A Free & Fair Election? by Homonide: 1:56pm On Jun 10, 2010 |
Becomrich0: I think it would serve you well to check out my post: i never said anything about GEJ being the face of Nigeria. As a matter of fact, i only choose to address one of the many issues you raised in your post, which is the issue of the appointment of INEC Chair. Now, do you care to tell me where and when you did that opinion poll which shows that 90% of Nigerians agree with you? Also which NASS-are you talking about? Agreed - there are some substance in your argument, but Nigeria's NASS is composed of a bunch of idiots (a good percentage of them) ,who are only preoccupied with how to allocate a large chunk of Nigeria's revenue to themselves. Do you know how much a Nigerian Senator earns (aside juicy contracts they award to themselves and kickbacks they collect from government contractors and heads of government parastatals when they go for their phantom oversight functions ), 42 million naira!. And those dishonourable members of the house of (mis)representatives collect just a little less. And we they have nothing to show for it. What i'm driving at is that NASS lack the moral capacity as well as the political will to take such tremendous decision as appointing the INEC Chair and members. In any instance, they will definitely appoint someone more corrupt than IWU to rig their way back to power. |
Politics / Re: Attahiru Jega, New Inec Chair. by Homonide: 1:27pm On Jun 10, 2010 |
Remii: Well said. I guess the least we can do this time round is to hope that this man is the real deal, the "incorruptible activist". The problem is that power has a way of corrupting the minds of public office holders in Nigeria. Let's hope Prof Jega would succeed where other "radicals" failed. |

Mine are definitely movies made by Tunde Kelani's Mainfraime Pictures- Ti Oluwa ni ile, Saworo ide, Agogo Ewo, Abeni, Thundebolt, The guy is surely a professional, he doesn't just make movies for money, he makes movies that projects the culture and virtues of Nigeria to the outside world. He makes movies of International Standard. |

Politics / Re: Would Goodluck Jonathan Win A Free & Fair Election? by Homonide: 11:02am On Jun 09, 2010 |
Becomrich0: You have just demonstrated by your analysis that u are nothing but an incurable pessimist who believes that nothing good can come out of the present administration. Ordinarily, i wouldn't have joined issues with you, but i am compelled to @ list educate you and your ilk on @ least one of the issues u responded to- issue no 4, whether the President should appoint the INEC Chair or not. The Uwais report recommends that the NJC nominate three candidates for the post of the INEC Chair after which the President can then pick anyone of the 3 candidates. This is very logical as it is trite and a truism that someone who will take part in a contest SHOULD NOT be or appoint the UMPIRE, which is what it would obtain if GEJ appoints the INEC Chair. shikena, simple reasoning my friend. Common Sense is not common after all. And you should also know that the NASS "does not pick the INEC Chair and other Resident Commissioners", it only screens the candidate sent to it by the President. |
