Politics / Re: "Do Not Vote For A Muslim President" - Pastor Paul Adefarasin by Homonide: 1:40pm On Nov 18, 2010
Ericology:

Todays Christianity is a very tolerant one, no Christian nation today outlaws other religion, imposes death sentence for saying anything bad about Jesus, Bible or God, No Xtain nation practices Bible based law system.   A female xtain from pakistan is currently on death row for saying something abt your prophet. believe me even in 99% xtian countries, no head of state or judge dare execute a fellow for saying something negative abt Jesus, Dont preach religious tolerance to e cuz we have it already, preach to your Sharia practizing, koran clutching Boko haram and muslim brothers
There is nothing wrong in practising Sharia, as long as it isn't foisted on non-muslims. Islam preaches tloerance btw muslims and non-muslims, The freedom of religion is enshrined in the Constitution of Nigeria, as well as the freedom of association. But we all know that Sharia has been bastardised and politicised in Nigeria,so the aim has been defeated right from the onset.
As for Boko Haram, they are nothing but a bunch of 'misguided' bigots who are being used by some powerful elements for their own selfish interest.
Prophet Muhammed (PBUH) said muslims should seek knowledge, as far as CHINA. BOKO ISNT HARAM.

As a 'revered' MOG, i'm really surprised that the Pastor could utter such unguided statements.I really hope the journalist misquoted him, if not, then i sorry for naija o.
The 'sermon' is so ill-informed that one wonder if this pastor ever went to school at all,if he did, then he is the classic example of an uneducated illiterate. By the way, where did he get his figure of 100 million christains in Nigeria? angry angry angry
I'm also surprised by some comments of some religious jingoists and bigots on the issue here on NL, especially those of naijaking1. Nigerians should rise above ethnic, religious, and parochial interest in order to move this country forward.

Culture / Re: Should Inter-tribal Marriages Be Encouraged? by Homonide: 2:18pm On Jun 30, 2010
First, the choice of which tribe to marry is a personal decision. As much as inter-tribal marriages would foster unity in the country, it cannot be decreed. People have different perceptions of different tribes, however founded or otherwise and it is virtually impossible to convince them. As for me, the choice of who to marry isn't solely based on tribe, even though it might be a criteria.

Sports / Re: South Africa World Cup 2010 Officiating by Homonide: 3:22pm On Jun 22, 2010
As much as we all know that referees are human beings too, they are bound to make errors, as human beings are fallible. I have actually seen referees err in the ongoing WC in SA, but i've also seen some very bad decisions on the part of the referees, which make me think that some of them have actually been compromised.

Apart from the USA game, the worst has been the match between Brazil & Ivory Coast. I wonder what the French referee, Stephane Lannoy was thinking, i mean he obviously saw the handballs. What the heck was he discussing with the Cheat, Fabiano? I mean he had given a goal already, was he expecting Fabiano to confess that he did handle the ball twice? It was stupidity of the highest level, and i just hope FIFA would do something to punish the referee to serve as a deterrent to others.

By that singular act, the French referee has added another ideology to the existing "kaitaism" and "kakaism" that have been developed in the ongoing World Cup. It is called "Lannoyism".
Sports / Re: Lgerback Contract To Be Extended by Homonide: 12:54pm On Jun 22, 2010
First, let me reiterate my conviction that the problem with Nigerian football is chiefly that of Administration- the FA. Until we put the right people in charge of our football, we shall continue to fail. Lets put square pegs in square holes and other things would follow naturally.

Next, Football the world over is about hire and fire, based on performance of course. I have never been a supporter of employing a Coach simply because he is white, rather i believe competence should be the watchword. I don't have anything against Lagerback, but it is of my opinion that he would have FAILED if he fails to @ least progress to the knock out stages. After watching the match against Greece, i'm not that convinced of the technical and tactical ability of the Coach, especially after the slowpoke kaita was given the marching order. I couldn't discern whether the team were defending, or even attacking @ that. I felt Nigeria should have gotten @ least a draw out of that match.

There is no gainsaying the fact that continuity is important, but we should not sacrifice competence for continuity. As far as i'm concerned, the present Eagles squad needs to be overhauled and @ least 60% of the players need to be shown the door. What we need is a disciplined and committed coach, who is ready to work in Nigeria, first with the home based players that we have. It doesn't matter whether he is foreign or local, as long as he has the requisite credentials to manage the Eagles. The Coach should be given a 2 years contract with winning the next Africa Cup of Nations as the benchmark. That way, the Coach has all the time to build a new Eagles who can restore our lost hopes and produce a solid and disciplined squad.

The illiterate nincompoop couldn't even construct one error free sentence, ", i go at him, "
Instead of the fool to tender an unreserved apology (which might not be accepted anyway) to All Nigerians and Africa as a whole, he tried to justify his stupid actions.
FL Gators:

"So the guy kicked the ball and he hit me with the ball, " (which isn't even a foul), and he lashed @ him as if he was playing in his GOD-forsaken hometown. This is the WC for GOD's sake. I bet the goat doesn't know what a WC is. GOD go punish u kaita. Apology my foot!

Forgive and Forget my foot!!!!
I posted on FB yesterday after the MUMU called kaita acted like his lunatic forefathers that if Nigeria fails to secure the maximum point in that game, a FATWA should be declared on him. Its not by showing remorse, what the heck!!!! This is what happens when we field players that illiterates, players that have no sense of history whatsoever. In my opinion, Kaita should be declared a persona non grata in Nigeria. OLOSI, OLORIBURUKU, AKOSIBERU, BUZU,
Suffice to say kaita is the fucking worst. Compared with what Kaita did yesterday, Abdul Mutallab was a SAINT!!!!
Sports / Re: Amodu Would Have Done Better Than Laggerback Against Argentina by Homonide: 4:18pm On Jun 15, 2010
I was tempted to dismiss this thread @ first, but i've seen some really ridiculous comments on it.

First, it looks as if the comparison between Amodu and Lagerback arose simply because Nigeria lost to Argentina. Argentina won that match not because they had a better team, but because they have better individual players one on one (never mind the sleeping on duty attitude of Nsofor).

As much as i sympathize with Amodu on the treatment meted out to him after he narrowly qualified the Country for the WC for the second time and then sacking him, i make bold to say that his successor has done a decent job of the Eagles despite the short time he has been in charge.

The team for one is more tactically disciplined compared to the Eagles of Amodu, bearing in mind that Lagerback is practically using the same squad that fumbled @ the Nations Cup. Lagerback also did something Amodu couldn't do- setting aside sentiments and selecting a player like Haruna, given the fact that he's only the player we can call a creative midfielder in that team (the inclusion of Adeleye and Afolabi also deserve commendation).

All said and done, i believe it is too early to start comparing Amodu and Lagerback, lets wait till the next two games. Suffice to say however that Lagerback is technically and tactically ahead of Amodu, from the little that i've seen of the Eagles since the Swede took charge.

I smell a conspiracy here, a cheap attempt by Sen Saraki to make her more popular and also gain the sympathy of the average Nigerian, who wants Sen Saraki dead? Infact can anyone tell me the last time a serving top government official has been assassinated, since the state sponsored murder of Chief Bola Ige in 2001?

It's no longer news that Sen Saraki is bent on ruling Kwara come 2011 despite oppositions from all quarters. Good riddance to bad rubbish! Senator, we refuse to be FOOLED.

The consensus everywhere is that Tetuila has outlived his relevance in Nigeria's music industry, maybe he should try fuji or apala full time.

As a matter of fact, 60% of these upcoming acts are far from being talented, only a few are (they sure have some dough and it's like money is the prerequisite for entering the studio in Nigeria these days). Naija music industry has so much charlatans.

Fashion / Re: Why Do We Cherish Foreign Wears by Homonide: 5:12pm On Jun 10, 2010
To a large extent, we cherish foreign wears because of the unrivaled quality and also because that is what we grew up wearing. I mean, imagine a child that grew up wearing only native wears (probably in the village), it's just natural that he's going to love those attires. But as he grows up, and gets exposed to the modern, western world, his preference is likely to change.
We cannot deny the influence of the west on lives as Nigerians, even at times when it is glaring that a foreign product is inferior or substandard to a locally made one. Maybe it is  "Psychological slavery". Before u guys start spanking me, i'm not left our too.

You still dont get it. You are looking at the NASS , you have now. Look at it from future NASS. Dont look at today.
You can not allow unelected Judge to make decision in democracy. When George bush/Gore case. American were upset because unelected people had to make the decision.

If a Judge want to take that decision, he should join politics. It is wrong. This is the way democracy is run over here. Judges can not take that decision. You talk about bribe, you know nigeria judge collect bribe. It was a Nigeria judge justice tobi, who wrote the constitution we are all talking about. Go and check some of the nigeria judges they are richer than you think. They have millions of dollars, want to know how. Egunje or bribe.

I shouldn't look @ today, oh i should think of tomorrow right? How do we get to tomorrow? How do we put Nigeria on the path of true democracy when those who are unfortunately saddled with that responsibility are not ready to change?

OK i agree that the Judiciary is not bereft of corruption (which organ of the Government is anyway?), but have u really thought of what it would be like having a relatively vibrant and honest legislature compared with the Executive? We are in a logjam in Nigeria and only a miracle can save the Country's teething democracy. We can only hope that somehow Prof Jega would conduct free and fair polls come 2011 which would usher in a new era for Nigeria's democracy and indeed hope for the common man.

After that, we can now start talking about genuine and altruistic reforms in our electoral system and indeed the constitution as a whole, since our representatives would have been truly elected by the electorate, and not selected by a few Godfathers in the ruling class. Oh another option is a revolution: like Shakespeare said, "lets kill all the lawyers". Only that in our case, "lets kill the ruling class that have been holding Nigeria hostage for the past couple of decades!"

Homonide ,You make me laugh about the new face of Nigeria. You can not have an old wine in new bottle , it is still old wine.

Uwais report was about ethnocracy. A form of democracy reject all over, it was not about true democracy.

Nigeria is not the USA.  Nigeria is unique because of the many ethnics group and what they can do in term violent.

You can not have absolute power in the hand of one man. He would appoint people he like to NJC and you do not want unelected judges determining the faith of people in election. Their vote should count. You want elected member of the house to take that decision. They pay judges in Nigeria bribe.

Look when I said I know banigo. You can go and ask Jonathan what the family is to him. It means alot of contract for me in Nigeria. Ask any nigeria. To be honest with you people think I most be silly for not going back and take my own part of the national cake. It is automatic licence for oil drilling anywhere I want. If you know nigeria.

But I am different person. I see life differently. I believe we can make the life of our people better. I would not destroy whenI know I can build them to become better people.

You cant give the President that power in nigeria. It should lay in the national assembly. Most nigerian would tell you so. over  90% of nigerian agree with me.

Look you I have nothing against a person but the principle. The principle that some would be enjoying and make others suffer for thier personal greedy. I dont agree with.

NASS assembly is right. The president should not pick INEC members. It is not fair to other parties.  Democracy is about been fair. If you want a bias system where the president pick the INEC member let us return back to the military. It was the military that made that mistake for putting it in the constitution. We should correct the mistake and not trying to take advantage of the mistake for personal interest.

You make me laugh about the new face of Nigeria. You can not have a old wine in new bottle , it is still old wine.  Look I dont care for people in government, I care for the people of nigerian, either he is hausa or igbo or yorubas or ijaw .  I understand the difference between substance and symbol.   My loyality is more to the people of nigeria than the nation of nigeria.

My loyality lies to the people of nigeria and not to the nation or the president. The people of Nigeria are greater than the nation of nigeria or the president of nigeria, it takes people to make a nation and not a nation to make a people.   Get that into your head. You have lost focus. I dont worship fellow men like me.

I think it would serve you well to check out my post: i never said anything about GEJ being the face of Nigeria. As a matter of fact, i only choose to address one of the many issues you raised in your post, which is the issue of the appointment of INEC Chair.

Now, do you care to tell me where and when you did that opinion poll which shows that 90% of Nigerians agree with you? Also which NASS-are you talking about? Agreed - there are some substance in your argument, but Nigeria's NASS is composed of a bunch of idiots (a good percentage of them) ,who are only preoccupied with how to allocate a large chunk of Nigeria's revenue to themselves.

Do you know how much a Nigerian Senator earns (aside juicy contracts they award to themselves and kickbacks they collect from government contractors and heads of government parastatals when they go for their phantom oversight functions ), 42 million naira!. And those dishonourable members of the house of (mis)representatives collect just a little less. And we they have nothing to show for it.

What i'm driving at is that NASS lack the moral capacity as well as the political will to take such tremendous decision as appointing the INEC Chair and members. In any instance, they will definitely appoint someone more corrupt than IWU to rig their way back to power.

Remii:

Just like Sam Egwu, who was ASUU president in the East when Jega was national President we all know what he did as a minister of education under Yar Adua, but to some extent the task of INEC chairman should more less political, he should just be an impartial umpire simple.

Well said. I guess the least we can do this time round is to hope that this man is the real deal, the "incorruptible activist". The problem is that power has a way of corrupting the minds of public office holders in Nigeria. Let's hope Prof Jega would succeed where other "radicals" failed.

What do you want obama to say? Do you want Obama to say he is a bad man? Obama do not know him my friend. This is how they do it over here.

Let look at what you said.  Uwais report was fraud, if you look at the report very well. Most of the pages were not about reform but nigeria history. nearly 70% of the pages. How can you be a mugu. Look I dare justice Uwais to go under lie detector test,  Yar Adua knows alot about Uwais report it was just a way to decieve you mugu.

What is the issue we are talking. Look if Lagos state which is like say 10 times the population of imo state is getting about the same. What it means is that if there are 1000 people in imo state and 10,000 in lagos.  For every $100 per person in Imo state, each person is getting $10 in lagos. While dont forget, that it is the man in lagos out of is $10, the payes most of the tax out of his $10 while the one in imo state and most part of nigeria do not pay close to nothing to federal tax.

We Yorubas are talking of structural reform. We want structural reform period. How this nonsense talk. When did we talk about Uwias report. The Yoruba people do not give a hell about Uwais report. The Yorubas were not part of the Uwais report. So why should we care for the nonsense Uwias fruad report. Have the Yorubas people told you that is our concern. We never did.

We want structural reform. We dont give a hell about Uwais fruad report.

2. The INEC chairman would have been removed anyway, because no INEC chairman have ever served 10 years in nigeria, they have always been one term of office . No nigeria president would renew the same man.

3)Sponsoring a bill to create Election Offenders Commission, Nigeria already have laws against electoral fraud even before I was born.  It is even in the nigeria constitution.

4) .

Why should judges pick INEC members, Jugdes are appointed by the president. So he would pick those he like .   The NASS is right, the NASS should pick INEC members.

5) You talk of management shake up in NNPC. Are you serious,  It is the same thing , no different in the lifes of the people of nigeria.

6,  Who told you Obasanjo is oppose to Danjuma.  Obasanjo and Danjuma are actors.  Expert in acting, what do you know about obasanjo and Danjuma.    Dont let the two of them fool you. Both of them were acting. So that you people would not complain.

What is the different between  Nwodo and Obasanjo. I was thinking the same father and mother born the two of them before. Same same my friend. They are just playing games with you people.

You talk of Contract. every new government reward contract in nigeria, dont you know egunje is involve. When the last government don collect the egunje and go. You be pure mugu.

You talk about power, So are you saying nigeria have 24 hour electricity. No. They can fix the problem, they have been in power for 12 years. It does not take 12 years to fix , if they are serious. They are not serious, they are only interest in egunje. every government is. Why do you think some people are line up behind IBB. It is call Egunje. Egunje don kill najia.

Why do you think Seun osewa is claiming Jonathan would win election. Because seun osewa is hoping Egunje would touch his own hand. He want jonathan to find him something. Egunje. Egunje don kill naija. Seun osewa is working hard for is own Egunje.  Egunje don kill naija.

In nigeria we believe everyman has is price.

You have just demonstrated by your analysis that u are nothing but an incurable pessimist who believes that nothing good can come out of the present administration. Ordinarily, i wouldn't have joined issues with you, but i am compelled to @ list educate you and your ilk on @ least one of the issues u responded to- issue no 4, whether the President should appoint the INEC Chair or not.

The Uwais report recommends that the NJC nominate three candidates for the post of the INEC Chair after which the President can then pick anyone of the 3 candidates. This is very logical as it is trite and a truism that someone who will take part in a contest SHOULD NOT be or appoint the UMPIRE, which is what it would obtain if GEJ appoints the INEC Chair. shikena, simple reasoning my friend. Common Sense is not common after all.

And you should also know that the NASS "does not pick the INEC Chair and other Resident Commissioners", it only screens the candidate sent to it by the President.
