Andre Uweh: @Honerico, it will be suicidal to take only two keepers to nations cup. What happens if the first choice gets injured. Then you are left with only one keeper. When the only keeper left gets red-carded or gets an injury what will happen. You now send Michael Obi or Yobo in goal. Biko, do not opine like that.Well maybe i see the chances of goal-keepers getting injured very slim than that of players, i rather go with 2 goal-keepers than 3. Maybe you should let us have your own 23 man list. |
Demdem: i just want a conclusive end for a beautiful threadSOrry, it's no longer possible this year. ![]() |

Hmmmm, May God have mercy! ![]() |
ayusco: @honeric picked emenike as back up incase of injuries loss of form. Ameobi yes he's getting on but I feel he would bring his team mates ala ik uche into play. Kinda like heskey for England some yrs back. Like u I agree he is not one for the future stop gap measure at bestOkay, i get your points, Emenike hasn't really performed in the eagles's shirt, can't say why he's so though. |
ayusco: @honeric interesting list OK here's mineNice, but why did you then pick enenike if he won't even start in your 2 starting 11? |
omar22: I agree with everything he said, but the main fact here is that our fans cant see pass the bridge of their nose, can someone tell me among the list of player been picked who is in a better shape than Osazi?Replying you is a waste of time because if you call all these players bench warmers, then you know little about them. |
![]() So sad! Yet Seun does not like Buhari but he is acting the "weak" side of buhari. hmmmmm ![]() |
daryoor: win afcon = keep the jobNo, his official target is to get to semi-final. |
texazzpete: How is this a 'bombshell'? Is there anything wrong in a player putting forward his name for the role of team captain? You don't put forward, rather you are chosen either by the coach or the players. |
Here goes my 23 man list: Goalkeepers: Austin Ejide, Vincent Enyeama. (we do not need more than 2 goal keepers but they said it's a must we go with 3 o )so i add the 4th goalkeeper.Defenders: Elderson Echiejile; Joseph Yobo ; Efe Ambrose; Solomon Kwambe ; Danny Shittu; Kenneth Omeruo ; Godfrey Oboabona ( we have issues with the defence so i would like to see 7 defenders incase we need drastic changes.) Midfielders: Mikel Obi; Nosa Igiebor; Ogenyi Onazi; Raheem Lawal; Obiora Nwankwo; Fegor Ogude; Reuben Gabriel. (some of the attackers can join as midfielders too so no too much wahala here.) Forwards: Ahmed Musa; Brown Ideye; Victor Moses; Uche Kalu; Bright Dike; Ikechukwu Uche; Ejike Uzoenyi. (Shola should never be on the team if truly we are looking at building a team for the future.) |
Pysam: So nija is now a country where some nonsense hausa or fulani Muslim boys will just do wat they like abi.and the funny thing is that they feel they are invisible to the govt ehThey are only trying to mimic the eastern brothers na na quota system ![]() |
Another kind of story. |
You should also pick your first 11 and why. |
Come January 19th, the nations cup should be commencing. By 9th of Januray, the coach is expected to submit his 23 man list. We know nairaland is very popular in Nigeria and the world over and who knows, the coach could be a member of Nairaland reading comments posted on the sport board. If you're given the chance to suggest a 23 man list for the coach, who would you be picking and why? For a recap, here's the list of the 32 provisional man list again: (Take into notice that the coach can or may include or exclude any new or current player, so you're allowed to include/exclude just 2 players.). Goalkeepers: Vincent Enyeama (Maccabi Tel Aviv, Israel); Austin Ejide (Hapoel Be’er Sheba, Israel); Chigozie Agbim (Enugu Rangers, Nigeria); Daniel Akpeyi (Heartland FC, Nigeria) Defenders: Elderson Echiejile (FC Braga, Portugal); Juwon Oshaniwa (Ashdod FC, Israel); Benjamin Francis (Heartland FC, Nigeria); Joseph Yobo (Fenerbahce, Turkey); Efe Ambrose (Celtic FC, Scotland); Solomon Kwambe (Sunshine Stars, Nigeria); Azubuike Egwuekwe (Warri Wolves, Nigeria); Danny Shittu (Millwall FC, England); Kenneth Omeruo (ADO Den Haag, Netherlands); Godfrey Oboabona (Sunshine Stars, Nigeria) Midfielders: Mikel Obi (Chelsea FC, England); Nosa Igiebor (Real Betis, Spain); Ogenyi Onazi (SS Lazio, Italy); Raheem Lawal (Adana Demirspor, Turkey); Obiora Nwankwo (Calcio Padova, Italy); Fegor Ogude (Valerenga FC, Norway); Reuben Gabriel (Kano Pillars, Nigeria); Rabiu Ibrahim (Celtic FC, Scotland) Forwards: Ahmed Musa (CSKA Moscow, Russia); Emmanuel Emenike (Spartak Moscow, Russia); Brown Ideye (Dynamo Kyiv, Ukraine); Victor Moses (Chelsea FC, England); Uche Kalu (Rizespor, Turkey); Bright Dike (Portland Timbers, USA); Shola Ameobi (Newcastle FC, England); Ikechukwu Uche (Villarreal FC, Spain); Ejike Uzoenyi (Enugu Rangers, Nigeria); Sunday Mba (Enugu Rangers, Nigeria) |
Firstly, let me say that I'm GLAD they included Rabiu Ibrahim .But how they gonna leave out Joel Obi, Osaze Odemwingie, Sone Aluko, Lukman Haruna and Sone Aluko ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Some joke. Then they include SHOLA AMEOBI (U fv<king serious?), Danny Shittu, Ike Uche, Reuben Gabriel and Fegor Ogude?? Wow
You people should read other comments first before commenting.. all these questions have been answered by other posters before! |
Shola Amoebi You kiddin' me rite?
If the coach wants him, who are you to question his working tools? |
0lumide: Oshiomole and Fashola are not yet sellable until after their 8year term has ended. As in after 2015.So why then did you include Tinubu's name at first? |
OsunOriginal: Remove Igbo from the equation - we dont need Igbo even as VP. They have got no value to add.I am not into tribal rubbish talk with anyone. |
Sitex: Nigerians really have a short memory,i can remember when it was 'osaze' everywhere you go,when good players like ameobi were opting to play for countries other than nigeria, osaze choosed nigeria ahead of his mum's country russia,he was singlehandedly grinding out result for this country but as is usual with this shitty country mediocrity takes precedence cos am sure if its on current form none of those named players is playing better than osaze at the moment i can bet my life on thatSo even if a player does not fit into the coach's plan, he must be picked? i don't get this, when last did you watch osaze's game? even at West brom, he's not living up to expectation, check their last 5 games and let me know what you can come up with. Osaze is a good player but not really doing well for now and i think the coach doesn't need him for now. we still have the world cup qualifiers at hand, he never even played throughout the nations cup qualifiers, if he's needed, he'd be called. no one should be made to think he's all in all. |
Sijo01: Hmmm, Egua tuo!Iseeee Merry merry! ![]() |
0lumide: Lool why? Buhari as president and Tinubu as vice will make a lot of sense though..Please just remove Tinubu because he is not sell-able at all, it's best he stays behind the screen. Maybe Oshiomole/Okorocha or someone in that "form" |
0lumide: I as a Yoruba guy sef never forgive Obasanjo for what he did to Nigeria.Tinubu run together with Buhari? abeg don't sell Nigerians such a market, na calamity! |
Osaze is the best player we have in the national team right now. If he is not there, we don't have a team... Keshi, MBOAHHHH!!!!
When last did he play for us? the last time he played, we didn't win, since he's not been called, we've been winning, so bro no player is indispensable, as far as i know, he's not even fit and football is not played by names, if you doubt me, go watch "Chelsea vs Corinthians", Zambia vs Cote'd voire, Man U vs Bibao. |
OK, what is Emenike doing on that list ahead of Anichebe and Martins?, not until we drop this attitude of favoritism in all spheres we will not achieve anything as a nation.
Because they are the ones Keshi feel are useful in his plans for the team, every coach knows what they want and there's nothing you can do about it, when Martins/A nichebe were being chosen ahead of other players, no one complained, turn by turn na him be life, if he's needed by the coach, he'd be called on. |
Nice interview. |
Omo na lie, any purposeful tactician will never use any of the three ahead of Odemwingie, Martins and Anichebe.
Current form, Osaze is not better than any of them. |
Syenite: Osaze, simple truth is u are nt good enough. U ar nt better than Ike Uche, Ideye & Emenike.Right now Osaze is not fit and i support Keshi for not picking him. even at West brom, he's not performing. |
damoobaba: Wetin D̶̲̥̅̊ε̲̣̣̣̥γ̲̣̣̥ worri dis No Future Ambition(NFA) sef, they want to embarrass a whole country just because they feel like playing Barcelona/Spain.Why dem no start from countries like England, sweden and them other countries instead of catalans wey no go let our players leg touch ball for pitch. It's good to be coached by strong hands than be coached by mediocre like the ones on your list. |
