We must learn to treat animals rightly actually. I think Nairaland has a bias against animals. They like to show dead animals. Over population is not measured only by population density per square kilometer. It is also measured by availability of resources, infrastructure, etc etc.

Measured by infrastructure and resources, Nigeria is over populated compared to Europe. We have an unsustainable population.

The number of people seeking admission to university in Nigeria is more than places available. So even if u get 300, there may not be space for u because demand outsrips supply.

To be able to offer university place to all qualifed teenagers who want to go to university, we need to build many more universities.

In the next 20 years, we will need double the university spaces we have now just to maintain current level of supply and access to admissions. U get the gist? Same with hospitals. Same with houses?

Seems we are finally getting somewhere.

I honestly do not care about what Bill Gates said or didn't say. Our population in Nigeria is too much.

I am in my 40s. In my lifetime, our population went from less than 80 million to 200 million. By the time i am 80 (if God gives me life), we could be over 500 million. Is that a good thing? I honestly believe this is a conversation we should be having as a nation. But unfortunately, ignorance, selfishness, and greed will not let is and our leaders have this conversation.

You see , in Kano at the moment, both elites and the poor almajiris and their parents are suffering from an ignorance and poverty induced exponential rise in covid 19 cases.

Will this help us to reset our brains? I really doubt it.

But i guarantee Nigeria this, until we are able to manage population growth in line with our ability to provide the needs of that population, including educational, employment, housing, medical, and nutritional needs of our population, we are sitting on a time bomb.

Nigeria is not overpopulated, far from it. We have to look at the population density in Nigeria, ( people per square mile ). The population density in Europe is higher than in Nigeria, (more people per square mile than Nigeria), so in fact Europe is overpopulated and Europeans are not complaining about it.
