Travel / Re: Giving Birth In Canada by Hotstepper(f): 12:08pm On May 31, 2016
Epidural will be different and about 1k.

It's better if she gives u both the GP nd gynea numbers so you call and book an appointment

Omodun:

Your GP is so sweet.......and the 3k for delivery and all the test makes sense...... is the 3k inclusive of epidural as well?

And is there any chance in the world u can hook me up with ur GP as am considering Calgary and Peter lougheed as well.

Or the name of your OBGYN so I can get a GP to refer me to the OBGYN

Many Many thanks and a million kisses

chizzybaby247:

Hot stepper, i greet o,

You should have gotten both short and long birth certificates instead of 1.

Seems birthing is more expensive in Alberta .

How come baby's bill cost that much? What did it entail?

I have told u that you were lucky and forget about u traveling since u were in the tummy. Lying to an officer is a crime. There is nothing wisdom in what you have said . U were lucky and got a nice person period

hermosa:
@hotstepper I'm not lucky, I'm BLESSED and yes i completely agree, he was nice.
USE WISDOM people. i'm telling you from experience.
and the wisdom is coming from God since you don't know. i've told you. be careful how you answer these people and answer with wisdom i can't stress that enough. if you like declare your intentions, then let me know how that turns out.... no really, i'd love to know how that turns out.

Ok. If Calgary u r on ur own unless u have ppl there who go help u

Omodun:
Am considering Toronro or Calgary.........
Travel / Re: Giving Birth In Canada by Hotstepper(f): 3:49pm On Apr 14, 2016
I believe in the paper application, that option is there like medical and if it's online, if medical is not there as an option, I believe there's a place where 'others' is listed then u can put birth purposes.

If one is coming to Toronto or Brampton then I have Dr's u can call nd book an appointment with them and they will have ur name on file and u get their info so when asked at POE, u will be fine.

If u say holiday and u r given and u come to Poe and meet an officer who's not in the mood then u r in for it and naija off u go.

vcole:
So how does one even declare birthing purpose sef on the app? plus if you now declare, and if them even give you d visa now, when you reach poe, you no get any doctor/hospital when you don contact seeing as na face to face things, wetin you wan come tell the immigration?
#gobe things.

@Hotstepper please how can i get the contact details of an OBGYN.... it is true you have to be physically present to get one?
Travel / Re: Giving Birth In Canada by Hotstepper(f): 2:30pm On Apr 11, 2016
You are just lucky woman that the man is nice an sint notice . Whatever u write on ur application is visible for them in the system. I fell that men are more liberal than woman too.

Assuming he saw that u were preggy and u only answered u came to visit , he may or may not let u in and if he does, immigration will be on the look at for u to make sure u leave in 2 weeks as u said and may probably probe u with more questions.

You are obligated to say the truth to immigration officers and not use wisdom ..dunno where the wisdom is coming from.rather to get a nice person. To birth in Canada is not illegal.but have to declare your intentions period

[Qquote author=hermosa post=44596793]

yes i was visibly heavy but i think the guy didn't bother. he only asked me what i was here for and i said 'Visiting family", he asked me how long i was going to be here for "two weeks." (cos my return date was in two weeks= long story) and also how many luggages i had "two". i didn't have any trouble at the POE.
listen people be very careful with your answers. don't state your true intentions unless they specifically ask you. and yes i know a lot of people are going to counter what i'm saying but I've been travelling in and out of Nigeria since i was a baby and immigration rules are getting stricter. deal with them as you would deal with our Nigerian immigration officers; Reply. With. Wisdom.
good luck to all the mamas in the house.
People who didn not declare that they are coming for birth purposes have been having issues at the POE oo nd being sent back. .you might write the embassy that u would. Love to have ur baby as well nd print out their reply

mizizM:
Any pregnant women crossed Canadian Poe this year? Kindly describe your experience with the immigration officers. Hermosa, pls help with yours - were you visibly heavy and did you have any trouble at the Poe?

@hotstepper - I have submitted my application without declaring intention to give birth, is there any way to remedy that or I should come come for my family visit early (I do have family I need to visit more often) and jejely come back to naija to have my baby. No do or die or wasted 20 hour trip in the cards for me.

Thanks all.

Sorry I am late. Someone already answered your question. Good luck

quote author=RuthMadubuike post=43694939]@hotstepper thanks for the info u have ne sharing God bless you.

My questions:
Can my husband and i apply from malaysia as we both live here, he has a working visa and i have a dependant visa

Can we apply for my mum also from here tho she is still in Nigeria

Does the level of my husbands monthly income matter during application? ( tho we can afford to pay the bill)

Is the price for giving birth to one child same as twin or triplet?

What are the things we need to have in place before applying apart from getting a doctor over there.

How soon shld i go to the embassy after pregnancy confirmation?

Are baby items cheap there like in the US ? ( my friend who birth her children there said so).

Awaiting your reply thanks dear
Where in Ontario will u be staying? I guess it's Brampton with cuz that's where the Nigerian doctor is. Do u have anyone you will be staying with? Toronto should be a little bit less I guess as there's population.

I.dont know anything about home birth and won't advice u do so. Safe journey ooo nd bring crayfish them for me jare smiley

hermosa:
Hi people! Is anyone going to be in Ontario, Toronto from March to June? Im leaving for ON in March and I'll be there tlli June. would love to have other soon to be mothers as companions. We can exchange information about antenatal care there.
@hotstepper do you know of any hospital where I can deliver for an affordable fee? I already have an obgyn over there he's Nigerian but he's a bit expensive I want to see if there are other options.
Then also do you know of anyone who's ever tried home birth? Ive been watching a lot of videos o youtube and im almost interested in trying it out. Is home birth dangerous to do, and if I do have home birth would I need to get an ambulance on standby to take me to the hospital or its not necessary? And what about midwives how do I get one?

I will answer your questions n sections just like you have asked them.

1. Depending on what part of the country, can go from 1000 up since it's 2 bedroom

2. If you are going to be in Toronto which I advise you stay since you don't know any whine then the set up I'd like US and buses run till 2 am.

3. Birth certificate, passport all takes about 5 to 7 business days so u apply as soon as you can and follow up too by tracking it online or calling them if need be. I always tell people to fill the passport application form and get it ready so once the birth certificate comes, u just go and submit the application. If your map ouse won't be coming with you, they will require that he goes to one of the canadian embassy and sign sumthing just to make sure he's the baby's Father. I have an insider in Nigerian embassy in ottawa cuz to go there and their yeye is sumthing else and I always advise for travel document and when you get to naija you do passport . The guy charges for it anywayz but it's always ur best best .

4. Toronto is your best bet esp since you don't know anyone

Good luck

favoredgal:

my confusion list is plenty o! But let's start with the following;

1. Cost of renting an apartment (2 bed) for about 2 months or do one go the route of extended stay

2. How do people move about - is the transportation system like london where there are trains everywhere or Houston where we rent or uber

3. You said birth cert takes 5 days. What of passport? And Naija visa - or can we get a Naija passport for the baby

4. What city is best - considering ease of movement, the fact that I don't know a soul in Canada (actually I do but thru don't have papers I no wan near them), proximity to a good hospital / dr / shopping Centre / airport / passport processing office etc

My insurance covers up to $10k dollars for birth and medical related expenses

Thanks in anticipation
