I am back so I don't keep u all waiting smiley

Where she was staying with a friend is about 40 mins away from where the dr my family friend used is so it doesn't make sense to be traveling that far thus why she had the dr she did. I still think the fee is reasonable compared to the fact that cad dollar is lower. Also, it depends on Dr and hospital. If she did it where I leave, her hospital bill would have been 3000 instead of 2500.
The doctor said the bill also depends on when you are in labour and came to the hospital . If you come after 12 when Dr's r home esp your own and has to come to deliver u then it's more expensive.

Canadian hospital/ doctors according to the dr I spoke to is here to serve the citizens and permanent resident because they didn't want it to be open like US and things will go wrong but that doesn't mean if an international patient is in the country that they won't take the person. She also said everything is negotiable that you can always try and bargain . My family friend did and it worked .

If you have vaginas delivery and all is well, u stay only 24 hrs, this also applies to the residents as well. I was following up every week with her ( if she didn't know me,Trust me she would have found it even more difficult as the person she was staying with just came to canada new too) . The birth certificates takes only 5 days to come because the very day you apply is when they send it out and I always advice people to apply immediately they go home from the hospital as it's online. With her, she ordered for only the short birth certificate which is not sufficient for applying for the baby's documents. If I didn't ask her and learnt it was only the short one she would have stayed more in canada sef as she needed to get the long one too they call registration of birth where the child parents information is and this is the very one u need to use and apply for the passport.

Just like other countries, canadian immigration changes all the time. The not giving social insurance card is not only peculiar to international patients but also residents. A chikd under 14 doesn't need one except you want to open an education fund for your chikd in which the bank will require it if not the child doesn't need it nd most residents doesn't get it for their kids. I got my kids own cuz I have re-education fund registered in their name with their SIN number .

The issue of health card. Common you don't think this people are stupid. Do you know how much tax payers money they spend on health care and then you have a child and take him out and anytime he or she comes to visit, he benefits from other people's tax of which none of his parents r paying . Perhaps that's why they stopped giving . The child can apply at 18 and it will be given to him and he starts benefiting from it which is still 1000 times better than the US in the long run.

I don't know why they refused to give her baby food although someone mentioned that a relative of hers who is a resident also experienced such which indicates it's not cuz she's an international patient. I just think it has to do with the hospital or nurse you met. My family friend got lots of free things including baby food and each time we go to see a pediatrician she even gets more. I got too even diapers so I think it depends on who u see .

I think this is pretty much what it is

Ok as regards what she told me,

She went with her 2kids who distracted d Cbp officer so he didn't notice her pregnancy and she was scared to declare with all d stories of pple been sent back.

Hotstepper helped her with a doc and she said hotstepper is a very nice and fantastic person as she was super helpful tru out.

She also said d doctor was very nice and friendly. Doctor fee for VD she paid 3,000 CAD. Hotstepper told her she had a cheaper doctor but she had already paid d 1st doctor Hotstepper recommended.

Hospital fee she paid 2,000cad for one night and 500cad for baby. I asked her y one night and she said its a norm rule there that VD is one night except there is complication(s). One night starts counting from when u come into d hospital (she went to d hospital by 9.30pm on d 27th. Had her baby 1.59 am on d 28th and was discharged around 7pm 28) New born screening 200cadd

CS is 2,500cad per night and d norm rule for CS is 2nights so that sums up to 5,000cad for hospital fee alone with CS.
Hospital was nothing to write home about as they were not friendly at all. She was virtually begging for baby formula cos she wasn't lactating yet so d baby could av something atleast. But they refused to give her until she left. Also no freebies at all.

(My sister-in-law based in canada confirmed d formula part that they discourage formula a lot and same thing happened to her when she had her baby. A lady that gave birth same time as my SIL brought her formula from home as she knew they were like that.)

She had her baby in Ontatio. Also pls be informed that many rules av changed. She further said no more free health card and social insurance number until d child is 18yrs where he or she can apply for both personally except one of d parent is atleast resident in Canada. This she said she doesn't kno if it's peculiar to Ontario province alone.

(My SIL in Alberta said same applies to their province because when her status expired her son could not receive d free primary health care cos his health card was tied to hers until she renewed her status)

She expedited d passport application and as for birth certificate she kept calling and disturbing them so it came out in 7days otherwise it can get up to 2-3weeks

Addition: Exchange rate when she used her 1st bank card was 204 to 1cad. GTBANK was 197/1cad. So when she did her calculations 1,000usd = 1,300cad.

Her advice I quote "except u want something different for ur child, otherwise face US. Chai! I miss US sha" lol

She had her 2nd baby in d US thus has experienced both countries.

#my finger don dey pain me ooo# can't remember d last time I wrote such a long post on NL. I hope I covered all d arears. For further enquiry, hotstepper can assist. Cheers

1. Yes to be on the safe side, email the embassy and print out their reply and take it with u to CANADA.

2. The earlier the better though I have seen ppl.come in at 35 weeks

3. The gynea u see , it's the hospital he or she works that u will deliver

Aquakay:
Hotstepper,

keerah, vcole. Y'all have been amazing. Thanks a lot. Few clarifications pls

If u apply for a visa before pregnancy and u later become pregnant with intention to have ur baby in canada, dyu write to canadian embassy to inform them that your status has changed? or dyu just explain the situation to the immigration officers @ the point of entry.

Secondly, you guys have mentioned coming in early in the pregnancy is the best. Would u say 30 to 32weeks is too late or does it entirely depend on the doctor u r going to meet.

Now when your doctor has agreed, does this mean you'll automatically get a hospital too or u have to now source for hospital again?

Seconded! Couldnt have said it any better than this

vcole:
well, i may be wrong but from what i have gathered, about CAD5,000 should more than cover your cost of care. However, the canadian health system is different from the US, its more of the UK NHS-kinda system, only its way better service. Basically, you may not be able to contact a doctor or hospital yourself. Its usually a friend/relative who would hook you up with a GP who would then refer you to an ob/gyn who would handle your care and deliver you at the closest hospital to your place of residence.
I think since you are starting early, you should apply via the online or paper route. Declare birth or delivery purposes under "other" where you are asked for purpose of visit. Speak with your uncle if he could liaise with his GP to get a letter. If that works out, then you fill in the doc/hospital details under contact. However, if it proves impossible, then you can fill your uncle's details as contact and let him give you a letter of invitation. he can chip in somewhere that you intend to access medical care while on this trip and that you have made funds available to cover the cost of care and would be returning to Nigeria after.

Sorry, it's not illegal to give birth instead of what I wrote that it is illegal. Was in a hurry. Just say the truth. Remember what ever u fill.will be on the screen at poe

Hotstepper:

Where it says Other, that's where you can put birth as it is illegal to give birth. Or u can leave it and when u get at the POE, u can say there was no option of that but u r here for birth purposes. Make sure u have enough money nd if possible Dr's letter with u. Make sure u stay away from Montreal airport. Ur friend that was denied, did she go via Montreal?

Hello house, some few weeks back I met with a preggy who was denied entry into canada. Reason for denial was that she never declared her intent of having her baby in canada when she applied for her visa.

My question is this;
Is there any where on the canadian visa application form where applicants are asked if they are pregnant?

Secondly, a friend of mine is presently a few weeks pregnant and intends delivering d baby in Canada. Is she meant to accompany her application with a letter of intent declaring her motives from the onset of her application? Pls I need clarifications.

Thank you.

U have permanent residency before becoming a citizen . So how come u got 2 at the same time or am I reading it differently?

But for now I am pregnant and want to give birth in Canada-May 2016 (to be precise Alberta and Vaughan because that is where I have people I know). Can you please advise me on how to go about this.

I hope I was able to pass across my issue properly.

Your case really peculiar as you said smiley

1. Is your cousin going to be sending an IV to ur wife? If yes , it doesn't matter if you don't bear the same name. If she wants to be specific, she can put her married name then née ( her father's name).

2. Let her keep her own passport and attach marriage certificate and when visa is granted, she should make sure she travels along with the marriage certificate cuz she will be asked

3. You can use anyone just make sure you r truthful on your application.

4. Have enough that will cover her medical expenses

Top9jajamz:
Hello house,
I've got a peculiar case that I don't believe has been dealt with on this thread.
I'm recently married and my wife is 3 months preg.
my elderly cousin who is a citizen in Canada has agreed to host my wife over in Canada for birth tourism purpose. here are my issues.

1. My cousin is female and married for over 27yrs hence no longer shares same surname as I do so it's difficult to prove close family ties to me or to my wife if she eventually decides to use my surname.

2. My wife has previous travel history to Dubai as a spinster.I think that'll be an advantage however I'm made to understand that if she does change of name on passport, she'll be issued a new passport resulting to loss of previous travel history.
Can we apply for the visa using the old passport with her maiden name but still attach marriage certificate and other proofs of marriage to show strong ties to Nigeria.

3.what's the best application to fill for birth tourism.
Visiting visa application or Tourism visa

4. How much minimum is advice able to be in account as at the time of printing bank statement. Also hope lump sum payments will not be frowned at like the UK does?

Hotstepper and other enlightened members.kindly treat.
Thanks in advance

All these questions can be answered by your aunt. Talk to her . There's no antenatal. The dr will tell you when you will come and see him or her depending on how far you have gone in your pregnancy and each Dr fee differs. In.Canada. the GYN you will use, u will also use the person's hospital. So you cannot use a GYN and want to give birth in a different hospital plus you give birth to the hospital.closest to you.

Welcome ! I have sent u an email

catalano:
Hello,
Hotstepper. Am actually in north york, but i need to speak with you. My email is samuu1125@gmail.com.

I want to use this medium to appreciate HOTSTEPPER for the assistance she rendered while in Canada to give birth.
she is such a transparent individual. On getting to Toronto I only Called her once she anwered twice.
Getting the birth cerificate, Canadian Passport for the baby and Traveling document from Ottawa.
Even when my fellow sister and brothers over there were trying to confuse me; her word(hotstepper)sounded more valuable and useful.
we came back to Naija Last week.
My baby is a month today.
The effort is a good one , better health care and value for human life/live.
My take on giving birth in Canada:
* Have a reasonable amount of money cos naija money has no value (16,000CAD)
I went with 8,000CAD but it burnts very fast cos most of the time am on CAB/TAXI
i had to send additional xxxxx amount.
The hospital bed was 2,500/day *3= 7,000cad since CS.
misc=3, 500cad.
* Listen to Hotstepper's advice( ur family friend may not be informd )
* Prayer is very important.
*Get a good accomondation before leaving Naija(do not rely on Family friends)
* Activate ur dollar accounts.( atimes naija ATM does not work) go with cash or get
a good Nigerian that want to exchange naira.

HOTSTEPPER THANK U!

Once the baby is born and before leaving hospital, a temporary health card will be issued to the baby and the card will be sent to the address u give them . So with the temporary card, any baby visit to the doctor , pediatrician is FREE cuz the baby's health card covers it, even for immunization

Phema:

Congrats on your LO and safe trip back home.

What did you mean by misc?
How much was the Dr's fees? Pediatrician? Lab work? Which hospital did you use? How did you sort out accommodation and how much was it? How far gone were you when you traveled and how was your point of entry experience?
