uzoo: hi y'all , i really need help here, any of the weight loss gurus can reply to this. first of all i'm going to state my stats so you can understand where i need help.
bust 38 inches waist 32 " hips 40 " height 6ft weight ( lost 6kg recently ) so i'm now 79kg
my routine jogging - 1 full hour 4 times a week . ab work out - ( lower abs mostly) 30 - 40 mins daily.
goals. to fit into a special dress in one week (that is on the 31st) to shed the last 3 inches on my waistline. to shed 2 more inches from the hips to shed the last 3 kg left to be a perfect size 12 at 76kg.
Losing 3kg in one week sounds crazy, yes i know. but i've really tried everything since the beginning of november and it seems i've hit a plateau, especially for my ab work outs, most ab work out i've seen on youtube tends to make my arms and shoulders wider, planks and pushups are only effective on my obliques. Anything to get rid of the pooch will do.
thanks.
Do straight leg raises in different styles, you will feel it on the lower abs.

I am dedicating this moment to a family friend that just went to be with the Lord. He died while playing squash in a competition (he slipped and hit his head), may His gentle soul rest in peace.
tetty30: I discovered that I was able to loose some kilograms of weight with my current log
5am= two rounds of sex and 50cl of water. 7:45am= a cup of tea with a sliced bread 8am=football with friends 10:30am= a pack of fruit juice with a sliced bread 6pm= half a plate of garri with 100cl of water 8pm= sex 9pm= 3 apple fruits
I did this for just friday, saturday and sunday....I found out that I lost some kilograms
It was 15 days yesterday that I had not worked out and I had been eating without control (I was stressed). Anyway, I woke to check my mails this morning and I saw one from About.com (they always sent mails to me and I always ignore them). Today I took to the instructions and I was breathless in 34 minutes ranging from planks, chest press, lunges, squats etc, it left me really shaky.
It is good to go back the roots sometimes, this was where I was born (about.com exercises) and I am happy to be back while it lasts.
modath: @HG, Gym,gym,gym..how ya doing? I'm getting myself semi heavy(skeletal issues can't take real heavy ) weights made from iron & pure cement from my work arena.... I view the gym sometimes as double wahala, I pay(after paying for the excess food that got stored as fat)to get in and also have to commute to the place. Me I can't shout.
Tues 5th, Life got in the way.
Wed 6th... BFBM..Full DVD.. I then passed my boundary and decided to do some push ups after resting, managed a couple before giving up... my upper back is still complaining.
Mody, I get your gist jor. But the gym helps me with consistency and its the only reason I pay oftentimes, as cheap as it looks na money e be but I maximize it. Working out at home as never helped me, I always drail after 1 or 2 weeks and I also get bored so easily. But am enjoying every bit of it and working out the value for my money.
Well done everyone, nice to see the week starts on a large note.
I had not paid my monthly gym subscription (am doing that tomorrow), but I had been rather busy too. Just trying to brainstorm and look for ways to look after myself in a more definite way.
I have heard a lot about water workouts, I have read so much and known pretty much, but am really scared of so much water. I only love drinking the thing thats all.
3 trainers are working me up and doing everything within their power to psyche me right now. I am also doing dat myself considering the ease of doing the exercise with less aggression and bounty results. I have decided to do this next year God's willing, I spoke to even a life guard and they are all so cooperative and ready to help this scared-pool-irritant babe out. Another thing in my head is the mere thought of someone peeing or something yucky (blaaaah) inside, yes! I know about the Chlorine treatment but its just in my head and I need to get it out first before diving, lol.
babs2011: Hey Mody! Well done. I agree about BFBM being a killer and if you look at my prev posts I actually only attempted to do other workouts straight after it for one week only! Mehn it was just sheer determination. At least when you do that workout you know you have indeed paid your dues cardiowise that day lol !
On another note, I have managed to lose 4kg (8.8lbs) this month of October, yipee !! I started at 74kg on 1/10 and today 31/10 I stepped on the scales and now weigh 70kg! Also i recorded nearly 2000 mins of workouts for this month. So going forward in November, more of the same however I want to focus on my nutrition a lot more as this is an area I wasn't so consistent with in October. Portion control, self control and healthier choices.
So lets continue into the new month with renewed motivation!
Well done and congrats barbie gurl, I am so happy for you. I am sure weighing in is the last thing I wish to do right now, I am just tired of seeing the same range of figures always.
I did some weights today (biceps/triceps/shoulder) and it was one of my happiest moments in this lovely life me have. The trainer was in the mood to carry weights today (he trains with other guys) and so I think in that spirit the guy started challenging my muscles, I felt so proud of myself getting to my fatigue on just 5 reps, by the time I was getting to the 6th set, it was really better.
Romeo4real: The myth surrounding drinking lemon juice with cold or hot water as a means to weight loss is a long standing one, but it has no basis in nutritional science. Lemon juice is a good source of antioxidants and Vitamin C. Lemons also contain small amounts of iron, calcium and vitamin B6. Lemon juice stimulates the flow of saliva and gastric secretions, thereby aiding digestion and balancing PH levels. Pure Lemon juice can help reduce cravings for sugary substances, and drinking Lemon juice helps hydration and makes you feel fuller; however, it can also have a diuretic effect – making you lose water through urination. All these factors may explain the supposed “weight loss” properties of Lemon juice.
Al in all, whilst Lemon juice does have a lot of health benefits, it cannot take the place of a healthy diet and exercise.
Whilst you may not consider yourself "fat" on the outside, there is a chance you may be carrying a lot of intra abdominal fat. This can be determined by measuring your Waist to Height ratio - which is a stronger predictor of obesity and other health issues, and is considered more reliable than BMI measurements. This is irrespective of how "little" you think you eat.
How tall are you? What is your waist measurement (skin measurement)?
Either way, you need to formulate an exercise program that has both resistance and cardiovascular exercises and combine this with a healthy eating plan in an consistent manner. This is the key to maintaining a healthy weight.
Thank you for bailing us out here. Never heard of the bolded part before.
Jog/Walk intervals (jog 3 mins, walk 1 mins) - 51 mins in total
Great stuff Agaby, HG and Baroba! Waves @ Modath.
As per the BFBM workout, there are no weights used in this workout o! It's pure cardio from the first minute to the 54th lol. Are you sure you don't mean her NMTZ cos that's the strength one using weights. The BFBM is really intense cardio divided into 7 circuits (with circuit 6 being a killer) but great calorie burn as Baroba mentioned.
A great week is ahead of us!
Sorry for the mix up barbie. It is No More Trouble Zones. BFBM was in that lost lappy, I remember that now. I have done it too.
JM's Banish Fat Boost Metabolism - 20 minutes (heat was awesome, I just could not continue)
Barbie what weight do you use? When I first tried this video, I did it without weight and I finished the whole stuff but yesterday with a 5lb weight and heat like no other. I stopped at 20 min.
babs2011: Here’s to us. Here’s to ordering salad when you really want a burger. To making an as$ out of ourselves in combat cardio class. To drinking more water than seems possible. To going five minutes more on the elliptical. To working out twice as much as your skinny roommate. To saying, “Screw you” to the old you. To falling in love with the you that you really are, the you you want to become. To looking in the mirror and not seeing any change, throwing on your running shoes and hitting the gym anyway. Here’s to carrots, and shin splints, and sweat shirts, and perseverance, and sore muscles, and stinky socks, and 7 am conditioning class, and falling down, and getting back up. And here’s to getting up tomorrow and doing it all again.
Have a good weekend all!
*raises glass* to us, especially me and agaby *wide grin*
Ralphlauren: this applies to any other weight loss regime.
if you lose weight from say for example exercising and you then go back to the old eating habits of eating junk, not worrying about portion size, etc, you will pile on all the weight back with added extra.
what i am doing is rebooting my system, detox cleansing my body and kickstarting my journey to eating healthy and enjoying large amounts and varieties of fruits and vegs
If it is to kickstart then it could be ok (done that before too). Wishing you luck
Ran a 5K on the treadmill, did 44:18 min. I know its not a good time but I promise to work my way up though.
Abs crunch 3 x 20 Some other abs moves 6 x 15 Deadlift with a 20kg barbell - 3 x 10 Back extension on stability ball - 3 x 15 15 squats hands outstreched.
I am taking an active rest today. I will do everything not to break down again, lol.
babs2011: <digs out thread from under the rubble on the 3rd page of the health section, wtf?! >
Anyway...
Saturday 19th Oct Power walk/interval jogging - 60 mins
Sunday 20th October Tae Bo 'Get Ripped'- 50 mins
October total - 1438 mins
Barbie did u say page 3!!! That is shameful, anyway this week will prove them wrong. I will likely do an afternoon thingy today, if I am not out now then I cannot make it to the gym and then to work still.
