Yes they are now in BRICS but I think they had to use lobbying not because they deserve it. The Indices used by Goldman Sachs to arrive at the 4 BRIC states are not those of being an industrialized state but have to do more with potentials of expansion to a World economic leader. I do not see SA as ever going to meet those indices but nothing spoil. Let them join BRIC if it makes them happy. I think that they deserve to be in the G20 where they are already as they meet the requirements of an industralised economy but not BRIC which has more to do with expansivity. Nigeria also does not yet deserve to be in BRIC but N-11 as Godman Sachs rightly projected. However I expect Nigeria to have met the indices for BRIC in say 2018 or thereabouts. SEE bolded below:

The Sultan made some good points. The Muslims should do some soul searching and find out why people hate the word Islam. We are not against Interest free banking. But why call it Islamic banking against the Constitution. Interest free transactions started in the Bible and is more a Judaic practice than Islamic. So why hijack it as Islamic? His other point that the violence in the NE was not all caused by BM is true. Politicians are using the name 'Boko Haram' to try to intimidate GEJ but still it is a Northern agenda or rather of some northern politicians whether it is BM or not and so falls under the issues he should ask JNI to adress. Again saying that violence is not the solution but negotiation seems to say that people should start violence so they can be called for negotiation. Is he saying that the C-in-C should fold his hands when his Nation is threatened like this and call the perpetrators to the table as a first measure. NO. Let the Army do its job. Negotiation should come later when the perpetrators realise that they cannot use intimidation to get their way. If negotiation were so important to them, why did they not bring their grievances first to GEJ for negotiation before resorting to violence? Why can they not submit to the wishes of Allah and allow Jonathan to rule. Why fight for Allah. The Sultan must remind his subjects the teachings of Allah that promotes submission to His will. Great write-up there. Amuta should realise that Sanusi's regime that has brought a great widening of the gap between the official and black market rates of foreign exchange is deliberate. Who are the greatest beneficiaries? Who are the main dealers in forex in Nigeria.? Soludo did much to close that gap in order to stop round tripping but that was one of the numerous sins the North had against him, viz , killing the forex business of many Alhajis. We clearly know whose agenda Sanusi is pursuing. But it is unfortunate that such a high profile public servant will pursue a sectional /religious agenda. His arguments to support religious banking keep moving from mundane to pedestrain of dropping names of Igbos as investors to Anambra state as a beneficiary to saying that it was Soludo that started it. And so what? He came in with so much appearances of purism but the chicks have come home to roost. He has bared his fangs and we can hear clearly the lyrics of his music not just the beats. I hope Southern and Christian public servants do not choose to also tow their religious and ethnic lines else, we are going to have a Nation in shambles. Sanusi should retrace his steps. Power is transient and he has only a few more months to the end of his tenure. Let his supporters not cry foul if his successor begins programmes that appear to favour his people or region or religion as he is setting the precedent.

I did everything to avoid that route when I was in Lagos. It is really a trap you can enter and spend the whole day there. Now it must be a real hell.

I think Soludo's consolidation exercise moved Nigerian banks from local champions onto the global stage. Good one.
