Pls I need to pay 6300AUD for visa 189 application but the bank limit on web payment is making this difficult for me. Can anybody help? Only have 10days left before the invitation expires undecided
Try Dollar Debit Mastercard that is denominated in US Dollars but you will have to buy the Dollars from black market and pay into your domiciliary account. It has no spending limit. You can get it from most banks. I will suggest you contact GTBank as they are more reliable.

Yea I did fast track. I am in oz. Came in as a student in Feb2015. Just finished my masters in environmental engineering here in brizzy. As per job outlook, its based on your experience and interest. As of now oil and gas isn't booming, so most most related opportunities in that sector are quite difficult to come by. If you are flexible, you can switch to the. Environmental sphere like water & waste water treatment, process safety or remediation engineer as environmental regulation is taken seriously and there are lots of brownfields. However if you want to get into plant design & operation, u can run a 6months course in Perth to bolster your chances of getting a gig. If u still like book package, enough research opportunities dey. Overall, by Gods grace when you come u will nicely fit yourself in.

Asper my fast track, it took one week for first response. Afterwords I had to do some corrections and add more documentation. When I submitted, I was given positive assesment the same working day.
Hey malkinburg. I'm interested in the 6months course in Perth. Could you tell me the name of the institution/organisation and possibly their website to check out the details. Thanks.

Employment Verification for Australian PR

Gurus in the house, I hail una.

I read somewhere in another forum that local Australian Embassies do make calls to verify employment references submitted. Some even do physical verification by visiting the HR dept of the company. I am wondering what has been the experience in Nigeria.

Can one get a letter from a direct supervisor if HR Dept is not willing to issue an employment reference letter? What is the likely implication of that?
Do they make verification call?
What about physical verification?

Thank you all in anticipation of your usual expert analysis.

Good afternoon House,

This question has settled on my mind for some time now and I wanna ask it even though it might sound stupid.

Do you buy a one-way ticket or return when you are finally emigrating to Canny.

I intend to buy a one-way for wyfee and buy a return for myself coz I will have to come back to Naija and get a few things sorted before I move permanently. The one-way ticket for wyfee would not cause any problems at immigration ryt?

Cheers!
The visa you got is called Permanent Residence Visa, note the word permanent. You can buy one-way ticket my brother. Even students who are expected to leave Canada after completing their studies do buy one-way tickets and they are allowed in. One thing I noted over time is that one-way tickets are comparatively more expensive than return tickets and tickets for departures on Wednesdays are cheaper. wink

Greetings to all

Please does anybody here knows how Canada Immigration contacts the employer that wrote employment reference letter used in proving work experience?
Is it by email?
phone call?
or written letter?

Thanks in anticipation.

If this story is true then I pity this girl because:

1) Your DNA still say you are a black girl
2) Your children will still come out black except you marry oyibo
3) There some crevices in your body (you know them better than me) that will still look as black as hell not matter what
4) Your skill is thinner now and exposed to all sort of harmful UV lights and microbes
5) With time you will be spending more and more money to maintain it - I just hope your papa hold pepe well well
6) The likely end is what the attached picture shows.

For those considering to go down that road, please read the article through the link below and help una self...

Feds Raid California 'Maternity Hotels' for Birth Tourists

Southern California apartment complexes that doubled as "maternity hotels" for Chinese women who want made-in-America babies were raided early Tuesday, capping an unprecedented federal sting operation, officials said.

NBC News was on the scene as Homeland Security agents swept into The Carlyle, a luxury property in Irvine, California, which housed pregnant women and new moms who allegedly forked over $40,000 to $80,000 to give birth in the United States.

"I am doing this for the education of the next generation," one of the women told NBC News.

None of the women were arrested; they are being treated as material witnesses, and paramedics were on hand in case any of them went into labor during the sweep.

Instead, the investigation was aimed at ringleaders who pocketed hundreds of thousands of dollars tax-free to help Chinese nationals obtain visas and then pamper them until they delivered in an American hospital at a discount, court papers show.

"It's not necessarily illegal to come here to have the baby, but if you lie about your reasons for coming here, that's visa fraud," said Claude Arnold, special agent in charge of Homeland Security Investigations for Los Angeles.

All told, the feds raided 20 locations in Los Angeles, Orange and San Bernardino counties, targeting three competing birth tourism schemes, officials said. The suspected operators have not been charged but are being questioned.

The organizers who allegedly ran the Carlyle site, Chao Chen and Dong Li, used a website to drum up business, touting the benefits of a child with U.S. citizenship: 13 years of free education, low-cost college financial aid, less pollution, and a path for the entire family to emigrate when the child becomes an adult.

Listen up, ladies. If you want to figure out if your date is a nice guy or a jerk, take a look at his hands.

A strange new study suggests that the shorter a guy's index finger is compared to his ring finger, the more likely he is to be nice to women. Guys whose index fingers and ring fingers are close in length, or whose index fingers are longer than their ring fingers, watch out!

Nairaland GeneralAll Elections In Nigeria Were Rigged Since 1960 - Jonathan by humanshado(op): 8:17am On Jan 17, 2015
By Ben Agande and Peter Okutu, Abakaliki

President Goodluck Jonathan yesterday said that there had not been any free and fair elections in the country since Nigeria’s independence in 1960, as what had been happening since then was that people have been “buying and selling votes.”

Jonathan, however asked Nigerians especially the youths not to allow anybody to buy their votes during the forth coming elections as this would not be allowed to continue.

He spoke at Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State capital, while addressing a large crowd of party supporters at the Abakaliki Township Stadium in the course of his nationwide wide campaign.

Jonathan who is also, the presidential candidate of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, wished that he would live to see a woman emerge as the president and as a governor in the country, pointing out that this was the major reason he had deliberately appointed women into prominent positions to expose and prepare them for greater challenges ahead.

RomanceNigerians Rated Among World's Top Porn Viewers by humanshado(op): 5:26am On Jan 10, 2015
I just stumbled on this news on facebook and felt so "proud" of 9ja for being there in the headlines - as always on the wrong things lol grin. We are rated among the world's top porn viewers in 2014. Too bad. As new year has entered, I hope we will resolve to CHANGE our ways more so that CHANGE is in the air.

. By ANDREW GRIFFIN
Thursday 08 January 2015

Porn viewers are switching to mobile to consume media too, Pornhub has said in its review of 2014, in keeping with trends across the media industry.
After YouTube, Twitter and Facebook’s much more safe for work years in review, Pornhub has offered its own data. Pornhub’s 2014 Insight report is a trove of insights — and is safe for work, too — breaking down searches by nationality, gender and looking at what events sent porn traffic up or down.

The site also laid out its traffic numbers for the year. It saw an average bandwidth usage of 50GB per second — made up of 78.9 billion video views, or 11 for every person on earth.

There were 18.36 billion total visits in 2014. The countries with the most visits per person were the USA, Canada, the UK, Ireland and Norway.
In keeping with the trend to mobile across other media sites, Pornhub said that visits from tablets had risen 20 per cent, and visits from mobile were up 12 per cent. Desktop traffic was down 13 per cent.

The company said that listing its restriction of five views per visit for mobile users had helped drive the surge in traffic.

That was spread differently across different countries. In Germany, for example, many are still using desktops, whereas 56 per cent of visits in the US came from mobile phones. But every country was logging on using desktop computers less than they did in 2013.

Turkish mobile traffic rose most of anywhere — up 635 per cent in 2014. Indonesia rose 457 per cent, and Estonia, Bolivia, Ukraine and Nigeria all had increases of 100 per cent to 150 per cent.

Android is the most popular operating system among those mobile users, and is gaining. BlackBerry accounts for only 1.4 per cent of visits, after falling 47.6 per cent last year.

cman4good: yes sir, in the submitting checklist after letter of Explanation, below it i saw something like......Schedule 1 - Application for a Temporary Resident Visa Made Outside Canada
Schedule 1 (Application for a Temporary Resident Visa Made Outside Canada) is mandatory for applicants who require visa to enter Canada and Nigerians fall into this category. It is only optional if you are a citizen of a country that Canada has a standing bilateral agreement that allows citizens of both countries visa-free entry like EU citizens, US citizens, etc.

The implication of not filling Schedule 1 as a Nigerian citizen is that you are only applying for study permit which is not an entry permit and therefore, you will not be allowed into Canada in the first place without a Temporary Resident Visa (TRV). TRV is a sticker that the Canadian High Commission in Lagos will place on your passport after processing to allow you entry into Canada while the study permit is a small paper you will be issued at the point of entry in Canada - they just staple it your passport.

So you MUST INCLUDE SCHEDULE 1 AS A NIGERIAN CITIZEN!

All the best

nnannaidoko: Pls I am new to this thread. I hv a first class in microbiology and I want to apply for a master program in microbiology or biology at two out of University of Victoria Mcgill annd MUN for fall 2015/2016 session. Pls which two schools should I choose out of these, and is it advisable to start contacting professors right now?. Pls I need all the suggestions I can get. Thanks
Congratulations for achieving a 1st class degree, no be beans o.

With your 1st class degree I will advise you to go for the very best universities and include one middle level university as a fall-back. According to Times Higher Education ranking 2014, the top three universities in Canada are:
1)University of Toronto
2)University of British Columbia (UBC)

3)McGill University

I will advise you to choose the top two and add University of Victoria since u are already inclined to it. My reasons are:

1) Employers will be more inclined to consider graduates from top universities
2) These are research intensive universities with large research funds, so getting scholarship is a possibility but competitive
3) If you intend to do a PhD in another school, you will have an advantage because you are coming from a top university
4) The provinces of Ontario where U of Toronto is located and British Columbia where UBC is located have a programme of nominating international postgraduates in Science and Technology for permanent residence without even having a job offer

I won't advise you to go to MUN because it is ranked very low, though it is cheap - No offence to those studying there.

You can start browsing the research interests of professors in the schools you have interest. Tailor your research proposal to what they do and start contacting them. The earlier the better, you can start it now. When you contact a professor make sure you sell yourself by showing your research capabilites and express interest in his or her research area. if you have published a research paper mention that too.

BTW, I started my program in UBC in January 2014 but deferred and came back home to sort out some things with my employer. You will love the city of Vancouver, it is beautiful, though a bit expensive. Am preparing to go back in January 2015 God's Willing. cheers

temie fash: Snow biz is serz biz oh...I just made my first cash here in Canny...140 box in 2hours....Let it snow!!!!!
I can see your excitement on the $140 you made. I just hope you have studied for 6 months already before you started this off campus work. You should also know that studying for 6 months is different from staying in Canada for 6 months out of which you were in session for just 4 months out of the 6. Check CIC website for clarification.

Though you may argue that it is not a formal employer that will require documentation and ask for a OCWP and your SIN, you should be cautious and restrain yourself from falling into the same shit hole those Nigerian girls put themselves. When it comes to abiding by the law, don't be surprised the same people you worked for and even offerred you coffee that will alert immigration authorities when they found out that you are breaking the law. Canada is not 9ja o, Canadians are bound by law to obey the law by helping law enforcement agents. In the case of those girls, did you hear any statement from Walmart depending them? Don't eat your tomorrow today, be patient.

A word to the wise is enough.

OchukoII: Abeg what are the requirements at point of entry?

Also who dey Vancouver or who dey go vancouver? I dey find house.
Congratulations on your trv. I am also joining UBC in January 2014. I tried getting a room through kijiji.ca and craiglist with no success. They won't even respond to you, probably because I always mentioned that I am coming from 9ja - you know we a very 'popular'. I finally resigned to committing to university campus room which is way expensive ($794.50 a month), though I intend to stay for just one semester. I will advise you to:

1) Book few nights in bed and breakfast in Dunbar, Point Grey or Kitslano. These neighbourhoods are close to UBC campus with bus routes. From my experience with winter in the UK as a new student, it is fatal to arrive without somewhere to get some warmth. Another thing also at point of entry, the guys will want to see where you intend to live. Try www.booking.com for hotel booking. The good thing about this site is that you don't have to pay anything when you book.

2) Try checking off campus adverts on Student union site (AMS Society). There are various range of student friendly room. This is the only site I got responses and even some advice from some landlords. All the best.

When are you jetting out?

kreamstaff: Hi everybody, please I need honest advice from experienced and helpful people in the house about my wife applying for a Msc in Canada. She already has an Msc from the Uk in business but wants to get another in Financial planning/assessment based on her work experience as a tax consultant in Nigeria, what uni would you recommend and what are the likely requirements, she had a 2.1 degree from a private Nigerian uni.

Also what are our chances of having me and our 1yr old baby accepted as dependents to travel to canada with her, what's the process like and how much in all do u think we should budget for the entire process.

Might I add that our long term plan is to finally immigrate to Canada as professionals in our feilds of industry.

Pls any info related to this as regards finances, best locations, approval possibilities or anythig helful at all would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Your wife can still apply for a second MSc. I also have a masters from the UK and I have gotten my visa for a second one in Canada starting in January 2014. So no problem with that. To search for a suitable programme visit: www.aucc.ca or simply google the name of the course and include 'canada' in the search.

With regard to visa application. I will suggest that your wife to apply for herself and the kid only for now. You will serve as home tie. The trick is as soon as she gets to canada she will send you invitation to join them. This has been provided by Canada immigration as a standard procedure. If you make the mistake of applying for the whole family at once you could be denied because the visa officer will want to see the source of funding for her while in Canada. You will also send a signal to the visa officer that you are moving to canada permanently and this will lead to denial. We have seen cases like that in this forum.

With regard to how much money you need, you must show that you have tuition fee and living expenses for one year, money for baby care of the child and regular source of funding which your salary account statement or company account statement will show. Canadian immigration requires a student to show 10,000 canadian dollars as living expenses.

After getting admission, the procesa of visa application is explained in detailed in this thread and I advise you to apply online at: www.cic.gc.ca.

I believe other people will advise you more as you start the process. All the best.

sexymma1: Please someone guide me through, I can't still download the visa application form from the cgi website, must I answer some questionaire before I get to the forms or am looking at the wrong place.
If you are trying to apply online these are the steps:

1) Go to http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/index-int.asp
2) Click apply online. It will ask you if you have applied online before on CIC website. I guess this is your first time so select "No" and click "Go"
3)It will ask you "What are you applying for?" Select 'Study Permit' and click 'Go'
4)It will ask you "Have you used our online questionnaire to find out if you’re eligible to apply?"

a) If 'yes' is your answer, it will ask you "You have a code that looks like this: QK4350881372?" This is the code the system generates for you
after you filled the questionnaire "Coming to Canada". Then it will ask you to create a myCIC account where you will enter the code and
it will generate the forms for you to download and fill.

b) if your answer is 'No', it will open the questionnaire "Coming to Canada" for you. You will answer all the questions and it will generate
a code for you. Then create a myCIC account and follow the instructions on the website to get to the forms.

Please note that you will have to download the forms onto your computer, fill them and upload them back. DON'T PRINT the forms because you want to sign them. When you have finished uploading the unsigned forms and ready to submit, it will direct you to a page where you will write your full name as your signature.

5) The last stage after digital signature is the dreadful payment page. Here I will advise anyone using online route to save himself/herself the trouble of using debit cards. USE CREDIT CARD TO PAY.

A word to the wise is enough.

solomonwis: Like I mentioned earlier, knowledge is power. You can approach your bank {by this I mean contact your bank,I needed to explain this so as not to be deliberately misquoted} and ask if the card is enabled for internet transactions. They are in position to better enlighten you about the features of your card.

Some cards need activation while others don't. Your bank should explain better.

From my experience using Naira Master debit card,it has been smooth even with withdrawal in foreign currencies from outside the country.

Knowledge is power!
I also called my banks that issued my debit cards including GTB and they told me there was nothing restricting me from their end yet I could not make the payment. Therefore calling your bank may not change anything. Solomonwis made mention of activation code, I do see that in some merchant sites and I have used these codes and created passwords when the need arise for all my debit cards but still I could not used them on CIC site.

Huzzie: From observation, the main challenge faced by those that used the online route is payment...why we are still having this conversation is because most of the people that used this route didn't come back to give feedback on how they were able to sail through...its high time we implored ourselves to always come back here to give feedbacks after we must have been directed on how to go about it, so as to eliminate repetition and to have it record for future references. Online Routers please come out from hiding to explain because lots of people are currently having this delay their application.
@Solomonwis, ChriGo and Co. I applied for TRV online. What I am going to mention here are totally based on my personal experiences.

I agreed with Solomonwis that one could use Naira debit card for online transactions, POS both in Naija and abroad and even withdraw cash from ATM machines. I did all that both in Nigeria and several other countries among which are UK, USA, Netherlands, Japan and even UAE, just to mention a few. This is to show you that these cards are acceptable but with one condition. The condition is the level of security and trust from the country where the debit card was issued. On one forum somebody used a debit card from India but was not successful but when his cousin used his debit card issued by a bank in Germany, it went through. My understanding is that the merchant sets the acceptable risk. You may see 'credit card' only but when a debit card is used from a reliable source, it might be accepted.

Now with regard to CIC payment. All the debit cards I have used at one time or the other to make online payments, POS and even withdrew cash from ATMs outside Nigeria failed on CIC payment portal. I attempted more than 50 times ( I did not count, just guessing). What I did was to ask a friend to use his credit card issued by a Nigerian bank and wola! it sailed through on first attempt. And who said there is no real credit card in Nigeria? To my understanding, a credit card allows one to spend without having the money in ones account and pays interest on balance if the credit free period elapses. Credit cards usually have credit limits depending on the user's income or cash flow into the account and it could also be set by the user himself. My friend's card has all these features.

In a nutshell, if you want to make payment on CIC website use a REAL CREDIT CARD not prepaid credit card to save yourself from frustrations. Please anybody with additional information should please add or correct me please.

greatheights: @oga siga n @oga 2-chainz do I nid to print and sign the Fam info and the schedule1 form manuali when applying online cz its only d study permit form that gv a prompt that I shd print out #ONLINE ROUTE#
@greatheights. You don't need to print out any of the forms. Just fill them out save the data on the forms and upload. When you have uploaded everything and ready to submit, the system will prompt you to write your name as your signature. From there it will take you to the payment page. Hope this helps.

ChriGo: Humanshado...our 1st online man on the list...its good having u...i neva read back from u on how u went around the Master card...which bank did u later used?
I used a friend's credit card from Diamond Bank. But I don't think the bank matters. What matters is the system was designed to accept credit cards. And Thanks for the earlier info you gave me.

Drurulez: hello peeps..please i just wanted to find out if I can make payment with my GTB naira master card for the Canadian student visa application fee of $125. I have tried it a couple of times today and it didn't go thru. pls kind help.
Thanks
I tried using GTB mastercard debit and that of stanbic IBTC all in vain. I had to use a friend's credit card. I doubt if the payment system accepts debit cards and it is clearly stated there as 'Credit Card'. I advise you to try that too. All the best.
