You can't just see a doctor anytime you want in the US. What are you the president? You have to book an appointment. And if an appointment isn't booked, you have to go into the ER or walk in clinic. And you have to make sure the hospital/doctor is within your network, and your insurance will even cover the procedure, after you pay your deductible.

To answer your question, there's no nonsense private clinics here, where the rich can get care, while the poor die. Go to the hospital and they'll assess you. If its serious they'll see you asap. If its not serious (I doubt it is since you're on this message board) then you'll have to wait. The medical system will not allow someone to die, while you get care because you have money. The seriousness of your illness determines how fast you get care, not money.

Thank you. I honestly felt the original post was over-patronizing the US medical business.

Travel / Illegal Border Crossings - Canadian Govt Takes Actions Against Nigerians by humanshado: 6:22pm On May 07, 2018
Given the high concentration of asylum claimants from Nigeria who were only in the United States (US) legally for a brief time before crossing the border, two concrete actions were announced to mitigate the problem at the source. Three Canadian officials have been stationed to work with US visa officials in Lagos and Minister Hussen will travel to Nigeria this month for discussions with Nigerian officials. At the highest levels, both Canada and the United States have reaffirmed their determination to work together to combat abuse of US travel documents.

Please canny folks, has anyone booked online from Lagos to Calgary using Egypt air website?
I need to understand how it works because I am getting so confused because I don't stay in Lagos and the Lagos/abuja office said they only fly to Toronto when one goes through them. They suggested I go online

Use www.travelstart.com.ng they will give you many options on price and airlines including Egyptair.

Greetings fellow Canadians (and wannabes... lol na play I dey ooo)

I finally departed lagos via Ethiopian airways last friday (22 sept). Had 8 bags for a family of 4 and 6 hand luggages. All this stuff after repeatedly warning the packing crew (madam and family) to limit the weight to recommended levels. Well we made it tru without much hassle. All the official's didn't give us any hassle after they saw my little terror squad (kids) already terrorising us. Nobody checked our food stuff. At Toronto customs they just collected the declaration card and asked us to proceed. Got me wishing that I had brought more stuff. The food served on the Ethiopian airline flights was just there. Na only d rice make sense joor. And please try to eat if u have time to before joining a connecting flight in canada. On my connecting flight within Canada they were only accepting credit cards as payment for food (air canada). well I made it to a warm bed by 11pm, Vancouver time on saturday, but it was around 9 am on Sunday in nigeria. We thank God for his grace. On Monday we went out to look at some apartments and get sin numbers. We also registered for medical insurance. We couldn't get service BC Identity cards because we needed our pr cards as part of the two id''s to present. They wanted our passports and our pr cards. So we will need to visit again for that. Have found the town we r in to b nice and quiet. Well that's all for now. Lemme face my daddying duties. Omo na now I appreciate my kids nanny!!!!! I ALSO MISS SPANKING THE KIDSS!!! ARGHHHH! lol. This tough daddy has been humbled by laws. It seem's my kids (4 & 6) were just waiting to come here ooo. They have become "AWARE" like skynet. Thank God the Lil one has a yr to wait before he starts school. God will help us to adjust.

Thank God for journey mercies. I am also coming to Vancouver in November (God's willing) and I have made booking for temporary accomodation. My only challenge is I need an address for my PR card. Is it possible to talk to your host to use their address? Please help

Congrats to those who recently got ITA. May God do ours for us too, amen. To those with OINP dont forget to share your eca access to Ircc. Its done on www.wes.org/ca. Dont know if those with ITA also do eca access too, someone can confirm.

For those who are almost done with oinp application plz how did you download the noi letter and is it just the E-application like online application only or we will also print and send hard copies to ON. Any tips on oinp ideal submission? Please share, 1500 cad is too much to make mistake. God bless you as you take your time to respond.

This is a general issue and I also read it in other forums. Here is how I got around it:
1) Login to your myCIC page and open your EE profile by clicking "View Messages".
2) Click on the NOI message so that it opens for you to read.
3) Then scroll to the top of the page, you will see a row of menus that includes "print" and "logout".
4) Click on "print". A print dialogue box will open. Choose to "save" instead of printing. It will save the whole page in pdf format.

Note that everything is ONLINE now. They do not accept any paper applications except those that got NOI before the new online system.

Hope this helps.

I suspect the system picks recently created profiles and what I did was to withdraw my old EE profile and created a new one. I encourage you to do that if you have up to 400 points and you selected Ontario as your destination. You can follow the steps I followed as follows:

1) Login to your EE account with CIC
2) Withdraw your old EE profile. Keep your existing GCKey account with CIC only withdraw the EE profile.
3) Login to your Job bank account and deactivate it. The system allows you to reactivate it anytime in the future keeping your profile info intact.
4) After deactivating your job bank account, go back to your CIC account and recreate a new EE profile on the same GCKey. Don't attempt to sign up an entirely new CIC account it will complicate things for you.
5) You will receive an email from CIC welcoming you to your new EE profile containing your new EE number and job bank code.
6) Now reactivate your job bank account by trying to login with your old login details. You will receive a code in your email which you will use to reactivate it. This is different from the job code you received from CIC. You will then create a new password and that's it.

All the best.

Is there any hope of OINP for those that have been in the pool since last year? From the trend it seems that people that recently created their profile are being nominated

After getting NOI the next step is to create a ONe-Key login details. The usual username and password stuff. Follow this link
www.one-key.gov.on.ca

After signing up for the ONe-Key and you have got your username and password, it will take you to the application page. But in case the link broke down because right now there is high traffic in the website, you can always click on the link below to apply online.

http://www.ontarioimmigration.ca/en/pnp/OI_PNP_EE_CAPITAL_APPLY.html

I will also suggest you download the guide that spells out all the details and the required documentation. Follow the link on the application page to download the guide.

All the best.

If you are able to download the NOI letter please share so that we also follow suit.

Someone please help answer my queries too ............

I am helping my friend with her application and I cannot download the NOI letter received from Ontario yesterday. Someone who has passed through this, please respond.

Also please confirm that when you get NOI from Ontario, you go to their website and apply for Ontario's Express Entry Human Capital Priorities Stream. It is my understanding that the FSWP (Federal Skills Workers Program) falls under this. I am just being careful not to apply for the wrong scheme post NOI.

N.B. My friend got a NOI yesterday via IRCC Express Entry....profile created Monday 20th Feb.

I am eagerly waiting pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Gurus in the house special good afternoon to you all, i must say you guys are the best have come to meet, More grace to you all, please i have being a silent follower to this group trying to read from the beginning which am still doing but please i need some clarification now as am abt to rergister on Austrilia Engineer portal for my assessment.
THIS IS MY PLIGHT

Am a chemical engineer in discipline currently doing my MSc on Process engineeing, but I work as a Maintenance Support Enginner in one of the multinationals as a contract staff, supporting the department on materials/equipments, planning/scheduling and others for 5years now.

I dont know which way to follow if i should use my work experience or my degree for my CDR application. wch will fetch me a better point?

Also, should i use the multinational company's name or my mather company that is written in my employment letter, though its clearly stated that am to render service to the multinational company on my JD. I will prefer to use the multinational name because its a well know company in the world and that may be a edge to me. Please your candid advise will help.

though i still have other issues but will run with this.

Thanks so ,uch for this humble house. am new though.

Assessing your degree with EA is mandatory while assessing relevant work experience is optional but highly recommended.

With regard to which company to claim to have worked for, I will advise you to be HONEST for your sake and for the sake of all other applicants from 9ja. Remember if you say you work for ExxonMobil, for example, while in the actual sense you work for ABC Servicing company that is a contractor to ExxonMobil you will have to provide VERIFIABLE documents from Human Resources Dept of ExxonMobil to prove that. Sometimes, Australian immigration do carry out employment verification and that will definitely expose you. The name or reputation of your employer does not matter as far as you can prove that you have the skills you claim.

Good luck!

If you choose to assess your BSc which you got in 2016, any experience you have before 2016 will not be considered by EA for assessment. The choice is yours.

OlalekanKad:

Bro,

Thanks for the analysis, it's well taken and appreciated.

I was actually thinking I can assess the BSC and get the 15 point no doubt but for the skill assessment I thought it will be possible to just assess it under Engineering technologist instead of assessing it through Mechanical Engineer.

Is this not possible? I was just thinking, shed more light please if you have different opinion.

BSC for recognized qualification but Engineering technologist for skill assessment. As anyone done this before?

Cheers!!!

@Azy1223
@Jer29v11

Please don't confuse yourselves, refer to the reply from EA quoted below that was shared by @Azy1223. Take special note to the section I put in blue colour for emphasis. As long as you have an Engineering degree, it does not matter what Engineering field you nominated for assessment as long as you can prove it to EA. Any body that read Engineering must take some foundation subjects. The foundation subjects mentioned in the EA's reply are: Mathematics, Mechanics (fluid and solid), Thermodynamics, Materials Science, Electricity & Magnetism, Engineering Drawing etc. Check your transcripts to make sure they are there and you are good to go.

Azy1223:
@chekdee13 etc

This is the reply I got from them

Hi,

Thank you for your email.

As the assessing body, EA is unable to offer guidance on which occupation should be nominated.
The most important thing to remember when choosing a category is that you are able to demonstrate your knowledge in that area of Engineering, therefore it is important this is chosen by you.

Please click below, type your desired discipline into the search bar, this will bring up the definition of the occupation as well as the criteria of what we look for. You can use this as a guide when deciding which category to nominate.

The title of your degree does not need to match but you must have the foundations subjects of Engineering and please note that Agricultural Engineering in Australia may not be the same as overseas. Please see the links above.

Kind regards,

Nadia

To support what @Bellong has mentioned. It is highly advisable to assess both your educational qualification and relevant work experience for the following reasons.

1) If you plan to practice as an Engineer you have to belong to EA and your assessment will serve as the starting point for stage 1.
2) It validates your foreign degree that gives comfort to employers in Australia.
3) Assessing your relevant work experience makes it easier for Australian Immigration to process your application and hence makes it faster. 99.99% of the time, Australian Immigration accepts EA's number of years for work experience. This saves you the trouble of unnecessary work validation process during visa processing.

When I initially applied to EA for assessment, I applied under Washington Accord for my MSc from UK. EA told me that my MSc was not enough to be considered under Washington Accord since my BEng was not from the UK. I had to assess my BEng through CDR and use the MSc as continuing professional development. Therefore I had to re-apply under CDR + Relevant Work Experience Assessment. That going back and forth wasted some precious time and I feel I should share it with you to avoid it. I also advise you to use fast track option if you can afford the addtional AUD275. It is worth it - trust me.

Please note that when submitting your application to EA, you have to nominate an occupation that you will be assessed on since it is CDR. As long as you have a degree in Engineering, it usually does'nt matter what field of Engineering you nominated provided that you can prove to EA that you have relevant work experience in that field. In writing my CDR, I used my MSc thesis and the other two from the work I did in the profession I nominated. Use professional Engineer as @Bellong mentioned.

Good luck!

Jer29v11:

Thanks For clarifying this Bellong. On your response to point (2), how then will unknown what summary statement I should download and fill out? Apologies if it seems I am going round in circles.
Travel / Re: General Guide To Australian Permanent Resident Visa Through Skilled Migration. by humanshado: 2:01am On Jul 17, 2016
Assessment of educational qualification with Engineers Australia is mandatory.

Assessment of relevant work experience is optional.

Jer29v11:
hi, can anyone please help with my enquiry? Does the Engineering Assessment (EA) evaluate qualification and work experience, or just one of the two? I have read through the thread but still can't get my head around it. Thanks.
Travel / Re: Where Are Nigerians In Australia . by humanshado: 9:29pm On Jul 15, 2016
A simple look at the two options you have:

Option (1) Assess BSc = 15 points
No work experience = 0 points
Total = 15 points

Option (2) Assess HND = 10 points
5 years work experience = 10 points
Total = 20 points

If you add points for age and English, you are most likely to be better off with option 2.

Click on this link to use a point calculator. All the options are there for you to play with. Good luck!

https://www.acacia-au.com/skilled-migration-points-test.php

OlalekanKad:
Bro,

Thanks alot for the huge relief, now I get it... So are you suggesting I go through the CDR pathway and assess only my HND and forget about the BSC? or how does it really works?

Cheers!!

Engineers Australia counts work experience AFTER GRADUATION only. Even if you are not claiming point for work experience, you still need to show them that you have at least 12 months work experience which your NYSC can cover. Since you have HND, you have the option of assessing your HND for Engineering Technologists and also claim the 5years work experience. One thing you should also remember is Mechanical Engineer occupation is highly competitive when it comes to invite for EOIs. You need at least 65 points to stand a chance. If I were you I'd do a what-if analysis of the options I have before going ahead.

Good luck!

OlalekanKad:
Hello Everyone,

I need some clarifications here and I would appreciate if someone can help shed more light on it.

I just got a BEng Honors degree from a UK university and I want to fire that on Washington Accord Pathway for Engineers Australia for the Skill Assessment, but I don't know if I can also claim point for my 5yrs experience working as a Mechanical Engineer in my current organization with my HND gotten here in Nigeria since 2010.

Anyone who has an idea should please advise as I don't want to waste any money for trying to claim point they won't give.

I know they can't deny me the 15 point for recognized education but the work experience is something am not sure of. I know another option is getting band 8 for the IETLS but If I can claim the years of experience then I would have to fire on with my band 7.

Please advise...anyoneeeeeee

1. If the original is coloured, you don't need to certify. You can upload original. That is what I did. But if the original is b&w, then you need to certify.

2. No specific lawyer. Just head to a court and ask for a notary body. There are guys that hang outside courts that do that as business.

1) Do I need to certify/notarise the documents before upload?

2) Are there specific lawyers appointed by Australian Immigration for notarising documents in Nigeria or any notary public can do?

You can use your one year NYSC work experience but make sure you state it as paid employment wink

You will need to assess your degree with ANMAC. Check their website for details through the link below.

http://www.anmac.org.au/assessment-process

Your degree from India is acceptable so you don't have any problem with that.

You can take IELTS anytime you are ready and you have the cash to pay grin. Check british council website below for registration and other details.

if your age is between 25 and 32, you can assess your BEng with Engineers Australia and try and ace IELTS with at least 8 in all four sections of Listering, Reading, Writing and Speaking. You will have enough points to apply for Skilled Independent 189 without claiming points for work experience. However if you are in the 33-39 age bracket, you will have to seek State nomination. Hello guys,

I'm new to this forum but have been reading up on all the posts.

I really need your help here. I registered on the EE system and came up as ineligible. No scores were displayed on my profile.

My IELTS results is L7, W7.5, S8, R8.5, Overall 8.0
My NOC is 1121, have about 7 years experience in Human Resources, a Master’s degree which has been verified by WES. Age 43, Single. I don’t have a job offer in Canada, I don’t have a provincial nomination and I don’t have a relative in Canada. Funds available to move to Canada is $15,000. I put in both my Bachelors degree and Masters degree. Both have been verified by WES.
What could be responsible for this ineligibility report? How do I go from here?

I also have a second career as a Pharmacist with NOC 3131 . I have part time work experience with this. I didn’t use this in the application because it is a regulated profession requiring examination and certification before I can practice it in Canada. Can I put in another application in the EE system using this?

Your responses will be truly appreciated.

Cheers.

I suggest you try Australia. Based on your stats you will be eligible to apply for Australian Skill Independent 189 if you improve your IELTS English score to L8,R8,W8,S8. Alternatively, you can take Pearson Test of English (PTE) and try to get a score of 79+ for LRWS. Check these links for details.
