Travel / Illegal Border Crossings - Canadian Govt Takes Actions Against Nigerians by humanshado: 6:22pm On May 07, 2018 |
Given the high concentration of asylum claimants from Nigeria who were only in the United States (US) legally for a brief time before crossing the border, two concrete actions were announced to mitigate the problem at the source. Three Canadian officials have been stationed to work with US visa officials in Lagos and Minister Hussen will travel to Nigeria this month for discussions with Nigerian officials. At the highest levels, both Canada and the United States have reaffirmed their determination to work together to combat abuse of US travel documents. Afamdi12: This is a general issue and I also read it in other forums. Here is how I got around it: 1) Login to your myCIC page and open your EE profile by clicking "View Messages". 2) Click on the NOI message so that it opens for you to read. 3) Then scroll to the top of the page, you will see a row of menus that includes "print" and "logout". 4) Click on "print". A print dialogue box will open. Choose to "save" instead of printing. It will save the whole page in pdf format. Note that everything is ONLINE now. They do not accept any paper applications except those that got NOI before the new online system. Hope this helps. 3 Likes 2 Shares |

I suspect the system picks recently created profiles and what I did was to withdraw my old EE profile and created a new one. I encourage you to do that if you have up to 400 points and you selected Ontario as your destination. You can follow the steps I followed as follows: 1) Login to your EE account with CIC 2) Withdraw your old EE profile. Keep your existing GCKey account with CIC only withdraw the EE profile. 3) Login to your Job bank account and deactivate it. The system allows you to reactivate it anytime in the future keeping your profile info intact. 4) After deactivating your job bank account, go back to your CIC account and recreate a new EE profile on the same GCKey. Don't attempt to sign up an entirely new CIC account it will complicate things for you. 5) You will receive an email from CIC welcoming you to your new EE profile containing your new EE number and job bank code. 6) Now reactivate your job bank account by trying to login with your old login details. You will receive a code in your email which you will use to reactivate it. This is different from the job code you received from CIC. You will then create a new password and that's it. All the best. princessayinke: 2 Likes |

After getting NOI the next step is to create a ONe-Key login details. The usual username and password stuff. Follow this link www.one-key.gov.on.ca After signing up for the ONe-Key and you have got your username and password, it will take you to the application page. But in case the link broke down because right now there is high traffic in the website, you can always click on the link below to apply online. http://www.ontarioimmigration.ca/en/pnp/OI_PNP_EE_CAPITAL_APPLY.html I will also suggest you download the guide that spells out all the details and the required documentation. Follow the link on the application page to download the guide. All the best. If you are able to download the NOI letter please share so that we also follow suit. Ehrnie: 3 Likes |

@Temidewale Congrats! I also got notification of interest from Ontario yesterday with 423. One challenge I have is after opening the message I could not find a way to download it. And to apply for the nomination you will need to attach the notification of interest letter. How did you download yours? Temidewale: |

ausarchive: Assessing your degree with EA is mandatory while assessing relevant work experience is optional but highly recommended. With regard to which company to claim to have worked for, I will advise you to be HONEST for your sake and for the sake of all other applicants from 9ja. Remember if you say you work for ExxonMobil, for example, while in the actual sense you work for ABC Servicing company that is a contractor to ExxonMobil you will have to provide VERIFIABLE documents from Human Resources Dept of ExxonMobil to prove that. Sometimes, Australian immigration do carry out employment verification and that will definitely expose you. The name or reputation of your employer does not matter as far as you can prove that you have the skills you claim. Good luck! 5 Likes |

If you choose to assess your BSc which you got in 2016, any experience you have before 2016 will not be considered by EA for assessment. The choice is yours. OlalekanKad: 2 Likes |

@Azy1223 @Jer29v11 Please don't confuse yourselves, refer to the reply from EA quoted below that was shared by @Azy1223. Take special note to the section I put in blue colour for emphasis. As long as you have an Engineering degree, it does not matter what Engineering field you nominated for assessment as long as you can prove it to EA. Any body that read Engineering must take some foundation subjects. The foundation subjects mentioned in the EA's reply are: Mathematics, Mechanics (fluid and solid), Thermodynamics, Materials Science, Electricity & Magnetism, Engineering Drawing etc. Check your transcripts to make sure they are there and you are good to go. To support what @Bellong has mentioned. It is highly advisable to assess both your educational qualification and relevant work experience for the following reasons. 1) If you plan to practice as an Engineer you have to belong to EA and your assessment will serve as the starting point for stage 1. 2) It validates your foreign degree that gives comfort to employers in Australia. 3) Assessing your relevant work experience makes it easier for Australian Immigration to process your application and hence makes it faster. 99.99% of the time, Australian Immigration accepts EA's number of years for work experience. This saves you the trouble of unnecessary work validation process during visa processing. When I initially applied to EA for assessment, I applied under Washington Accord for my MSc from UK. EA told me that my MSc was not enough to be considered under Washington Accord since my BEng was not from the UK. I had to assess my BEng through CDR and use the MSc as continuing professional development. Therefore I had to re-apply under CDR + Relevant Work Experience Assessment. That going back and forth wasted some precious time and I feel I should share it with you to avoid it. I also advise you to use fast track option if you can afford the addtional AUD275. It is worth it - trust me. Please note that when submitting your application to EA, you have to nominate an occupation that you will be assessed on since it is CDR. As long as you have a degree in Engineering, it usually does'nt matter what field of Engineering you nominated provided that you can prove to EA that you have relevant work experience in that field. In writing my CDR, I used my MSc thesis and the other two from the work I did in the profession I nominated. Use professional Engineer as @Bellong mentioned. Good luck! Jer29v11: |

A simple look at the two options you have: Option (1) Assess BSc = 15 points No work experience = 0 points Total = 15 points Option (2) Assess HND = 10 points 5 years work experience = 10 points Total = 20 points If you add points for age and English, you are most likely to be better off with option 2. Click on this link to use a point calculator. All the options are there for you to play with. Good luck! https://www.acacia-au.com/skilled-migration-points-test.php OlalekanKad: 1 Like |

Engineers Australia counts work experience AFTER GRADUATION only. Even if you are not claiming point for work experience, you still need to show them that you have at least 12 months work experience which your NYSC can cover. Since you have HND, you have the option of assessing your HND for Engineering Technologists and also claim the 5years work experience. One thing you should also remember is Mechanical Engineer occupation is highly competitive when it comes to invite for EOIs. You need at least 65 points to stand a chance. If I were you I'd do a what-if analysis of the options I have before going ahead. Good luck! OlalekanKad: 2 Likes 1 Share |

Hi All. I got an invite on 6th July, 2016 for skilled Independent 189. I'm now preparing documents for lodging my application and I need some clarifications. 1) Do I need to certify/notarise the documents before upload? 2) Are there specific lawyers appointed by Australian Immigration for notarising documents in Nigeria or any notary public can do? Thanks. 1 Like |

cynthiaezebaby: You can use your one year NYSC work experience but make sure you state it as paid employment You will need to assess your degree with ANMAC. Check their website for details through the link below. http://www.anmac.org.au/assessment-process Your degree from India is acceptable so you don't have any problem with that. You can take IELTS anytime you are ready and you have the cash to pay . Check british council website below for registration and other details. https://www.britishcouncil.org.ng/exam/ielts/dates-fees-locations Good luck! 2 Likes |

xcaper: if your age is between 25 and 32, you can assess your BEng with Engineers Australia and try and ace IELTS with at least 8 in all four sections of Listering, Reading, Writing and Speaking. You will have enough points to apply for Skilled Independent 189 without claiming points for work experience. However if you are in the 33-39 age bracket, you will have to seek State nomination. Good luck. 1 Like |

dejilale: IELTS - General PTE - Academic You have a choice to take any of the two. If you are an Engineer and want to assess your credentials with Engineers Australia, you will have to take IELTS coz they don't accept PTE. |

LaserFocus: I suggest you try Australia. Based on your stats you will be eligible to apply for Australian Skill Independent 189 if you improve your IELTS English score to L8,R8,W8,S8. Alternatively, you can take Pearson Test of English (PTE) and try to get a score of 79+ for LRWS. Check these links for details. For details on Skilled Independent 189 - https://www.border.gov.au/Busi/Empl/skillselect For PTE English test - http://pearsonpte.com/ There is an existing discussion forum on Nairaland that you can ask for more clarifications as you go along the process. If yes, then I suggest you cantact them to find out what is happening. I read cases in some other forums that the guys had to contact them and they got a response almost the next day or so. |
