chukskafor:kites have lighter colour of feathers and the beaks are exactly like hawk beaks. |
iamnen:I assure you, when ranger enters puberty and he starts marking his territory you'll see how his character will change. even some things he used to allow he'll stop allowing them again, for now he's still a pup. |
iamnen:I assure you, when ranges enters puberty and he starts marking his territory you'll see how his character will change. even some things he used to allow he'll stop allowing them again, for now he's still a pup |
iamnen:ranger has started coming up ![]() nice, I remember him |
lordizak:your dog is broken and it lacks confidence, it's not it's fault, something definitely went wrong along the way. why would a dog you trained run away from you it's owner?,running away from a threat is one thing but running away from it's owner is not normal, check how you raised the dog again you'll see where you went wrong. that breed is usually very aggressive and confident especially at adulthood, I've personally never seen or heard of an adult Caucasian raised in the right environment under the right hand turn out to be a coward, most times they are the bullies. |
2RUTHHURTS:there is no such thing as a breed that shows guard instincts earlier than the rest. you'll also see dobbermans that didn't bark till a year, different dogs develop differently. my Caucasian started showing guard instincts at 4 weeks but I've also seen the one's that started at 9 months or 1 yr. |
EricSmallz:you can also find millions of people who use chocolate, onions and alcohol but does that stop it from being harmful to a dog? I get you're trying to vindicate your drug use but you have to have sense and know that what a human can tolerate is not always what a dog can tolerate google is free, educate yourself instead of spending all your time smoking weed. |
EricSmallz:first of all, weed is harmful to dogs so is alcohol and several other things humans consume, google is free. secondly, weed is a narcotic which is a type of drug that induces euphoria. thirdly, you were right when you said we were from different worlds. |
EricSmallz:you know weed is harmful to dogs right? and besides, what would you rather have, a trained security officer or a high security officer? which one is a smarter thing to do? why would you risk your dog's life just for it to be reckless? a well trained security dog will still do the same thing even without drugs. you see how it's stupid and wrong now? |
these are hawks |
inception101:falcon in Africa? only type of falcon in Africa is tailta falcon and it stays in Kenya not Nigeria. falcons don't look in any way like this |
Royal789:I feel the dogs are just barking because of. confusion, my dog was doing so when he was a puppy too, when they see something they don't understand they bark. he was doing the same thing with plastic chair, fan, cylinder, e.t.c if you're moving it he'll be barking at it and biting it, after a while he stopped as he got used to it |
gr8keeng:that's better ![]() one thing about mixed dogs is that they can be unpredictable, I've seen a pitbull/rott mix that the owner had to shoot because of over aggression I've seen a gsd/Caucasian mix that was sleeping and eating all day with no atom of aggression in its system no matter what was tried. sometimes they come out well sha but not everyone is lucky. |
gr8keeng:that's something about mixed dogs, a rott is a good guard breed, a gsd is a good guard breed but when you cross breed(this was in 2010 so I'm also guessing the parents weren't also very good stock), the character is unpredictable. bro get a good dog, either rot or gsd or you can select any other guard breed, train the dog well and you'll get a bad a$$ guard dog ![]() |
gr8keeng:what breed? |
op your dogs are still puppies, give them time to mature. I'm also very sure they are not being mentally stimulated, engage them in play and games like tug of war and also exercise them, get a ball for them and let them be active, you'll start seeing the natural guard characteristics coming out with time. don't just buy dogs and dump in the compound and expect them to be aggressive guard dogs, you also have to encourage them and keep them active and engaged so they'll mature in reasoning faster. size doesn't equal maturity too, boerbels are huge dogs, a boerbel puppy can be bigger than an adult gsd but the adult gsd will be more mature in reasoning. also some dogs take longer to become aggressive, there is no particular time for the genes to kick in, some start very young some start when they're older. your dogs are still young at 7 months, you can check around nairaland you'll see similar threads to this and how they always testify that the dog picked up later. there's still time, stop letting them play with strangers and they'll pick up, you don't need to beat them, cut their tails, put weed in their food, lock them up throughout e tc. most people commenting these things don't have dogs or any idea what they're saying, some just want to crack jokes. don't go and ruin your dogs all in the name of making them aggressive. get a trainer or do it the natural way |
gr8keeng:how old was the dog? I'm very sure it's a puppy. the way you guys rant when your puppies aren't aggressive somebody will think when you were that age you had any sense of security. stop expecting adult reactions from puppies |
Nicklaus619:don't rejoice yet, did you ask the age of the gsd and was the gsd ready to fight your dog? if you put your dog against an adult gsd that is ready to fight, the gsd will eat your dog and drink water after. don't pit your dog against bigger stronger dogs please, it's not going to be funny if it gets mauled, Samoyed dogs aren't strong, be careful the kind of dogs you let your dog challenge. now you're letting him run to fight dogs bigger than him he might try to challenge a Caucasian, rott or mastiff one day and that day you won't laugh |
AwkaetitiBabe:tail cropping doesn't make dogs aggressive, it's just done for aesthetic reasons same with ear cropping. a lot of mastiffs still have their tails and are still the same, saying cutting a dog's tail at puppyhood will make it aggressive is like saying circumcision made you aggressive or had any effect on your character as a an adult. besides, if you cut the tail of a 7 month old dog, if the dog survives(at that age the tail bone is already strong so it's like cutting off a limb from the dog, it'll cause extreme pain and sometimes death) it has more probability of turning the dog into a coward. puppies don't react well to pain |
AwkaetitiBabe:that's a very wrong an ignorant idea. it makes 0 sense |
Nicklaus619:also wrong, not petting your dog doesn't make it a guard dog, even the most aggressive well trained dogs still have people that pet them and give them treats. my dog loves being petted and he loves belly rubs but god help you you enter our compound. it takes a second for him to switch to his vicious nature. if you train your dogs well they will become guard dogs, not petting your dog is just unnecessary and it also leads to lack of bonding |
EricSmallz:another wrong and stupid thing to do. |
Picadelly:wrong, boerbels are natural guard dogs, and a dog that is a good guard dog isn't always aggressive from birth. some dogs can take even one year before they become aggressive |
lordizak:I'm very sure this your dog is a puppy, you people expect dogs that have not even grown adult teeth to become guard dogs once their legs touch the ground. he does not need to buy any mongrel to teach his dogs how to be aggressive or take his dogs to any dog farm. they are freaking puppies, where you able to do anything at that age when you were a kid?? allow the dogs to grow naturally and stop being too demanding from a puppy |
they are 7 month old puppies what are you expecting? so because your dogs aren't active security dogs at 7 months you want to kill them? are you okay? if you like be taking advice from people commenting that they had dogs like that and they sold them to be eaten, most of them saying that have never had dogs before, they just want few nairaland likes. your dogs are puppies |
vincentjk:yeah it's because of the growth, he'll eat better when he grows up |
vincentjk:it used to change, sometimes he'll eat a lot sometimes he'll rather sleep or play than eat. I think it's because of he was growing, as his growth slowed down he started eating well steadily |
vincentjk:lol yeah, he clears his bowl ![]()
|
Roscoe's meal for the day, indomie cooked with chicken organs and intestines and shredded chicken pieces and bones mixed with raw egg. I usually pour the chicken mixture inside the indomie and mix it then serve
|
vincentjk:lmao, if he was sure about what he was saying he would've proved me wrong, I'm sure it's because he's not used to being questioned. it's very immature thing to do tbh, we're all learning here if you get questioned about something you say, you should be able to back it up instead of blocking people |
agboedeh:yeah that's true especially those chicken neck bones or spines ![]() |
vincentjk:lol that's an unfortunate truth, a lot of people blog based on conspiracy, exaggeration and fake news just to get a few clicks on their articles. the best thing is to just fact check and always question when you can, sometimes when you question people on some things they claim to be sure about, they'll start rambling or run. their was a vet that posted sometime last month that raw meat could cause a lot of things from giardiasis to antibiotic ingestion, after questioning him I got to see that he sourced his post from a random article online that was obviously not written by a medical professional and the antibiotic ingestion issue was disproved after a test carried out in south Africa in 2013 showed that only 3% of meat in the market contain traces of antibiotics. and that was in south Africa I'm sure the results will be lower in Nigeria where herders rarely give their cows drugs. after disproving him the guy blocked me and I'm sure he'll keep on telling that fake news to his customers ![]() sometimes people project articles written by people in other countries onto Nigeria where the same things hold no weight. someone else has told me that feeding dogs eggs from enhanced chickens is bad and can negatively affect the dog. it sounds like a good advice right?, but when you think about it you'll realise that how many farmers enhance their chickens in Nigeria? Here people just buy birds and lock them up so they can feed them and collect the eggs to sell. sometimes people burden themselves with issues that do not align with our own way of life ![]() someone that lives in the suburbs in the u.s with their indoor dog will write an article about bacteria infections that can give their dogs a tummy ache and someone in Nigeria with an outside dog that lives like the average Nigerian outside dog being exposed to bacteria every day will carry it on their head like it's a religion ![]() another funny thing is that even in other countries people raw feed a lot, most of those dogs you see and admire from different foreign kennels are raw fed. it's not a new thing, some people fear raw feeding but will gladly import dogs from raw fed parents that were also brought up with raw food, does it make sense? I've still not seen any solid reason why people shouldn't raw feed, most of the points are arguable, improbable, or straight lies this raw feeding argument shouldn't even be an issue again at this point, let me stop here it's like I've typed too much ![]() |
