and another thing, if you're scared raw meat comes with all these things just have it in mind that when you buy meat and wash it in your sink whatever bacteria or virus you're scared your dog can get from it has been put in your sink and will have contact with your cutlery and plates, some people even wash fruits and vegetables in the same sink. you're adviced to wash your sink and hands with warm water and detergent or vinegar after handling raw meat but how many of us do that? some people will be washing the meat while preparing vegetables as they're cooking. but they never fear that they can get a bacterial infection from it but when they find out you raw feed your dog they'll rush to call googled bacteria. |
vincentjk:that's the truth, if humans can build up resistance towards things what more a dog that lives it's whole life in contact with all these things? it annoys me when I see people talk about dogs like they are human babies that if you sneeze you can make them sick ![]() a lot of people have never seen a dog with salmonella infection before but they talk about it online like it's aids, that's how one vet was saying raw meat can cause gairdiasis, it's sounds like a deadly infection but do you know that humans can also get it too and recover quickly?, a human child can recover from it within 3 days then imagine how insignificant it'll be to an adult dog?. I feel people just google names of infections and bacteria and attach it to the disadvantages of feeding raw meat. if you read up about most of these things you'll see they're very insignificant and improbable in occurrence, don't let the big names scare you ![]() |
vincentjk:lmao ![]() he has obviously been doing it when you're not around. I've seen half eaten rats too around my compound. sometimes just bones |
vincentjk:another thing I remembered now, you know that the commercial dry food people buy contains bacteria and naturally occurring organisms? if you read the back of dry food you'll clearly see it there. they are added during production to build up immunities and aid digestion in dogs. yogurt also contains bacteria, that's why you're advised to feed puppies yogurt to boost resistance to infections. bacteria is a regular occurrence in a dog's life, some people act like they have less stronger immunities than humans with the conspiracies they cook up. humans get exposed to the same things but we survive so imagine how it is for a dog? dog's can actually digest rotting meat and eggs and come out unscathed but people aren't ready for that conversation ![]() the strays and the animals in the wild do it all the time, a dog that has become used to it will do it with ease |
vincentjk:yeah that's true too, diet also matters too. some dogs that are not even up to 2 yrs their teeth have already covered with yellow plaque |
vincentjk:most of these infections people blame on dog food are not what they make them to be, dogs face more than that everyday, even if an infection should come, it won't take a dog more than a couple of days to recover. they just like to blame raw food for everything, I don't understand how someone feeding their dog restaurant waste will join to condemn people that raw feed ![]() |
vincentjk:exactly my point, a lot of our dogs eat lizards and some rodents when we aren't there but we feel one raw egg will bring a dog down ![]() I've seen half eaten rats in my compound before, I've caught my dog eating pigeon eggs from a nest that fell into the compound, I've seen him eating insects severally, saying I won't feed him raw eggs to avoid bacteria is a joke |
vincentjk:the brushing thing is to strengthen the teeth and remove plaque that can cause tooth decay especially in older dogs, it's not really a necessity it's just a way of keeping your dog's dentition in good shape. I brush my dog |
vincentjk:the coccidiosis thing is just funny, coccidiosis can be gotten from soil, water and food you know? they'll never say that but they'll blame everything on raw food. some of them have chickens in our compounds but we're not afraid of coccidiosis infection on our dogs or ourselves yet they say if you give a dog raw egg from the same chickens they'll get coccidiosis does it make sense? |
vincentjk:I've updated my previous comment with your answer |
vincentjk:who said so? raw eggs are very good for dogs, they help their coat and eyes. it even works with humans too, raw egg is a natural hair moisturizer and conditioner. the avidin, vitamin A, linoelic acid and protein in eggs are all hair boosters for both humans and dogs. some people say raw eggs can bring salmonella infection to the dog but the same people have never brushed their dog before and leave the dog outside to pick and eat things around without even thinking twice. so how does a dog that is exposed to bacteria every single moment of it's life want to breakdown because of ordinary salmonella? salmonella isn't a big deal to dogs not to talk of dogs that have built up immunities against most bacterias. the average Nigerian dog doesn't brush, eats rodents and insects raw, picks things from the ground, drinks water that has been left open for hours, eats food that flies have perched on, sparsely bathes,e.t.c if your dog passes through all that every day and you're still afraid of your dog getting exposed to bacteria then you're just deceiving yourself ![]() another thing people say is that raw eggs cause biotin deficiency, that has also been proved wrong as egg yolk is rich in biotin and it takes an extraordinary amount of raw eggs to cause a deficiency. when you want to raw feed eggs, buy fresh organic eggs and you'll be fine, nothing is going to happen to your dog ![]() |
vincentjk:yeah his coat is really soft, it still feels like puppy fur ![]() it's probably because of the raw egg he eats every day, o haven't even given him cod liver oil since he was about 5months old |
Toju200: ![]() |
HawnsgistMedia:cute dogs I suggest you should stop bathing your dogs every two days with thetmosol and dettol, that's bad for them. as much as you love them, they aren't humans and the same thing that is good for humans isn't what's good for dogs. get dog shampoo for them and bathe them highest once a week. if you continue like this, you're going to dry out and ruin their coats, they need the natural oil their coat produces and the frequent washing isn't helping. also use dog shampoo and amitraz(this is for when they're older), instead of thetmosol and dettol, it's going to help them more. dogs do not need medicated soap or antiseptic, the chemicals in it do more harm than good on their coats and skin. they can cause reactions, drying and breaking of fur and excess shedding. goodluck with your beautiful puppies ![]() |
First Post of the year so happy new year even though it's late lol. I realised it's been almost a month since my last update so I decided to post today. Roscoe is 1yr 4 months old now, I've been considering letting him breed although I haven't really been serious about it. maybe sometime soon I'll officially put him up as available for stud services. and update on the chicken situation, I got more chickens and he didn't harm any one at all till we used all of them ,so now I can have a poultry in peace.

Spanishmilf:cropping doesn't mean cutting it off, that way a Doberman's ears stand isn't natural, it was cropped into that shape |
agboedeh:I automatically start feeling disdain towards somebody once I find out how they treat animals badly. I've quarrelled with people because of my dog before ![]() my cousin once told me about how he killed his gsd puppy because it ate his food by smashing it on the wall. he also killed a Caucasian puppy that was gifted to him because according to him he left it with his female gsd and it couldn't impregnate her, I don't even know whether he knows about heat periods or that a 5 month old puppy can't procreate. he killed the puppy and used it to entertain his guests. since then, I never liked him, he was also trying to tell me to beat by dog when he was a 3 month old puppy to make him aggressive. he's not allowed anywhere near my dog anymore |
babtaima:but this is a male....what else is it going to do apart from serving as meat? except someone who likes keeping exotic fowls wants to just keep it |
Psoul:no it's not |
hooged:she's beautiful |
Goldicon2:it's not about weight tho lol, a dog that has been trained to be a Shepherd dog will still carry itself more than you think. Neapolitan mastiffs are not farm dogs, they are not a good pick for you. traditionally, Shepherd dogs are usually big dogs because the size is intimidating to potential threats, they are more resistant to weather, they are stronger and can take down bigger threats, they are usually more independent so in case the farmer isn't around they will still do their work without commands e.t.c don't use size to judge the effectiveness of a dog if you want a dog that'll guard your farm look for these qualities; independence, they must be able to stay on their own most of the day without having separation anxiety, and they must know how to work with instincts and not commands low energy and low prey drive, don't go for a dog that is too energetic if not the dog can get bored one day and decide to start chewing around your farm, a dog with high prey drive might be tempted to pick on your livestock if excited. intimidating, get a dog that even before it attacks, the mere sight alone will make any intruder think before proceeding. goodluck on your farm ![]() |
neronito:since when did Rottweilers become farm dogs? you do know guarding property or a house isn't the same as guarding a farm right? Rottweilers are not Shepherd dogs at all |
Goldicon2:I would have recommended Caucasian because they can be trained to be animal friendly easily and they are not high energy dogs so they won't be destroying your pens if you know what you're doing. the only issue now is that they weren't designed to do that work under this our African heat, if you don't have proper shelter for the dog the dog will be affected by the heat. I'd advise you to go for the boerbel, they are also farm dogs and they are more resistant to heat, just train them well and you'll be fine. don't go for a high energy dog if not you'll regret it, don't also go for a dog with high prey drive |
Timileyin1234:you just had to say it in the most unnecessary, cringeworthy juvenile way possible. |
Timileyin1234:I want to know what you were thinking when you typed this and posted expected people to patronize you |
vincentjk:thank you all ![]() I'm really flattered |
Toju200:then lock him up instead of chaining him when he's being aggressive. |
Toju200:do you have a kennel for him? that's a better plan since he's always trying to cut his chain |
Toju200:lmao thank you ![]() |
UniportAgbero:my dog is in iwofe |
UniportAgbero:lol I appreciate the compliment but I'm not a breeder I'm a dog owner/lover ![]() |
