Sorry to disappoint you but London is not a lawless military state like Nigeria. No police will intimidate or shoot at them. Their right to express their mind is respected and defended by law.

I know you are used to police intimidation but that is not how it works in a sane country. What we have in Nigeria is an exception not the norm. And the protest will continue until he packs his baggage and return to Nigeria or resign honourably if he can't.

And yes they are gainfully employed Nigerians. Since your zombie police has resolved to keep killing protesters we are taking the protest right to the doorstep of Buhari's beyond the reach of your unprofessional police friends. London police don't use civilians for target practice so chill out

Can you even take your protest beyond three arms zone/central area?

They can prosecute hate speech but cannot prosecute hate killing.

We will express our opinions on national issues without wishing anyone harm. There is no law against that.

Buhari should resume or resign (I bet some people will call this hate speech also)
Politics › Re: Hate Speech Vs Hate Killings: Osinbajo Please Shut Up! by Iamzik: 11:48am On Aug 18, 2017
The government suddenly realize the need to curb hate speeches.

The real question should be this : what is the reason behind the hate speeches? Why suddenly in this administration? Why did we not have it this bad during the last dispensation?

The government must be doing something wrong or failing to do something right.

At the inception of this administration, Fulani herdsmen went on rampage, killing farmers on their land in broad daylight. Government Appointments became sole entitlement of the north...

No arrests, no prosecution instead they want you to give up your land In each state for a grazing reserve. Later they said the herdsmen are not Nigerians!

What sort of irresponsible government cannot defend her citizens against so called "foreign hausa/fulani speaking" herdsmen

You cannot stop hate killings but you want to stop hate speeches.

Where there is no justice, hate cannot be eliminated.
Nigerians are not hate filled. We are loving people but if the government think that the citizens can be bullied into silence then they are in for a rude shock

Let me ask you? Doest MTN operate mobile money in south Africa?

You never paused to ask yourself why a country like Kenya, that has 9 of Africa's biggest slums is leading in mobile money. That's because the world doesn't buy into that whack idea.
Every product is targeted at a specific market segment.

Are you saying that there is no market for mobile money in Nigeria?
Business › Re: In The Wake Of A Wave Of Fintechs, Banks Are Getting Personal by Iamzik: 10:53am On Aug 18, 2017
Fearlez:
You mean mobile money. A system which serves as an alternative for dirt-poor countries like Kenya which has one of the poorest traditional banking institutions and facilities! Where people carry their money in SIM cards.

That should be for market women and artisans.

And that's what you're canvassing for MTN to do here? A South African firm that can't even provide 1/3 of its services it provides in south Africa?

A company that was forced to adopt per second billing system? A company that was trailing in 3G and 4G implementation? Your Nigerian roots are not firmly entrenched in our geopolitical soil.

Nigerians don't need mobile money banking! We have one of the best banking institutions and facilities and cash base in Africa. They's why our banks and firms are spreading from West to Eastern Africa.

Nigeria isn't Kenya.
All the issues you raised are traceable to weak regulations and Incompetent regulatory agencies.

Put proper regulation in place and watch.

Cash is going into oblivion. Digital currency is the future and you can't fight it.

Those nigerian bank's in Europe do they operate thesame model we have here? No

You mean with mobile banking?
Are you on support of MTN operating mobile banking in Nigeria?
Absolutely. But our supervising agencies are weak and unresponsive to global trends. MTN is more service efficient, customer focused and regulated in SA.

It requires alot of background work to address it's unique risks though and I don't see that in place yet. Probably the reason why it has not been approved.

But we can't keep telcos down for much longer. Global development will eventually force regulators to fall in line at a time they may be least prepared for it.

Have you heard about mpesa mobile money in Kenya?
Bank's are now working for Fintechs

It may interest you to know that Interswitch has no single retail customer. All their customers are actually bank customers. They don't have deposit targets and all those banking stress, no branches, few staff and they make cool profit without sweat.

Now do you see how banks are working for Interswitch?

The writeup just emphasized that this trend will eventually push traditional bank's to the background unless they innovate. And it's happening already
Business › Re: In The Wake Of A Wave Of Fintechs, Banks Are Getting Personal by Iamzik: 7:58am On Aug 18, 2017
Quite true.

Fintech is the future of banking.

Back in 1994 Bill Gates made the following statement
"Banking is necessary but bank's are not"

He must have seen a future where banking services are driven by technology and delivered via e-channels.

Well we are the early arrivals in that future thanks to mobile technology, ATMs and the internet.

Communication companies' Fintech are becoming bank's of some sort while bank's are becoming Fintech- both finding creative ways to encroach into each other's market.

Now add the growing awareness of digits currency /block chain technology to this equation and the traditional bank is in big trouble.

Other countries like Kenya are far ahead of Nigeria.
The only saving grace for banks is the bureaucracy of our regulators and their resistance to change.

MTN applied for mobile money license but was denied by CBN/NCC. But for how long?

BTW 99% of Nairalanders will not find this topic interesting since it is not about tribal bashing. If the elders will not allow us lead in politics are we also willing to allow them lead in technology? They are digital migrants, some of us are digital natives.

Expect much more disruptive technology when robots go mainstream .... They are coming!

What is NBC definition of hate speech because our understanding is always different from the rest of the world. I bet asking the president to resume or resign will also ba tagged hate speech.

Matters in court cannot be discussed on air? You mean Nigerians cannot Air their views on national issues??

The press is not subject to this sort of restriction even in developed countries.

Yes hate speech is a no no but to forbid citizens from talking about a matter simply because it's in court is tyrannical. Dead on arrival.

Any law that contradicts the constitution stands null and void. We have freedom of (responsible) speech. And it is recognized globally

Politics › Re: Why Army Has Not Staged Coup Again In Nigeria — Obasanjo by Iamzik: 4:29pm On Aug 12, 2017
realborn:
Lol@ your opening remark.

Please read my posts again. Why should Obj bask in the pains of others? It is on the heels of the criteria he chose to compulsorily retire these officers that elicited my reactions. He has no moral justification to publicly boast about terminating the career of others on the premise of suspicion because he is guilty of being a beneficiary of a. coup himself, and purportedly plotting a coup under Abacha, hence the "if Abacha had killed him" line, being the seemingly just treatment to coup plotters. I do not question the motive behind the action. I question his unrepentant demeanor.

It would have been more honorable if he used the opportunity to duly identify with the officers. Abruptly ending the career of an officer who has meritoriously served for 30 years within 6 hours can be psychologically damaging, boasting about it almost 2 decades after is humiliating.

Finally, true soldiers keep the affairs of the military covert. Obj is the only good politician in his own books. I will take him serious the day he shares his shortcomings and not that of others.

My 2 cents though...
There is nothing meritorious about a coup plotter.
You want obasanjo to be humane right? Well how humane can a bloody coup plotter be after shedding his boss's blood?

Obasanjo is not a saint. We all know. Jerry Rawling of Ghana was not a saint as either.

Once in a while the world always needs one last repentant evil man to put an end to evil and that is what obasanjo did to military coup plotters.

Give him credit for it.

My last paragraph addresses your query.

If Abacha had killed him on the premise of a purported coup (whether true or untrue), he would have never been Nigeria's President at the advent of the 4th Republic. The motive he shared and Abacha's action would have been the same - Security Purposes.

It is wrong for Obj to self-service and revel on a decision that affected almost a 100 families having devoted several years to active Service. They bore absolutely no guilt as no evidence of wrongdoing exists. His inglorious account will only cause further unrest within the rank and file of the Military, and animosity towards the Civilian Government.

A wise decision worthy of emulation will be to cite the pertinence to retire these officers for security reasons but with adequate compensation for the remainder of their outstanding Service years. This motivates over the tale of having them turn-coat within 6 hours.

My views though!
Simple comprehension... Retire is different from killing

Did Obasanjo kill the military officers or retire them? I guess if it were you, you would have promoted and worshipped them. What do you know about military, coup or politics??

BTW they were adequately compensated in money property and Pension. A Buhari or Ihejirika would have done thesame. It is called strategy.

Those who fail to study history are bound to repeat it.

Nigeria was doing well under the various regional governments.

Who introduced unitary system of government that destroyed the regions? Aguyi ironsi a greedy igbo man who thought he has come to power and must bring in his people to control and dominate it all...

Immediately they see that they have failed, thesame igbo started crying marginalization and calling for secesesion leading up to Biafra war.

Foolish people are beating the drum of war again. Well the one Nigeria you hate so much was made created by your beloved son Aguyi ironsi . You can hide your head in the sand like an ostrich and live in denial. The truth is the truth. Who plotted 1966 coups, who benefitted most from the coup? How many of those plotters were punished -none and they were igbos. He promptly abolished our good federal system and introduced unitary system. Well the Hausas paid him back in his own coin. Truth be told igbos secretly wish they can switch places with the north and west when it comes to power.

As for Osinbajo, a thousand haters can do nothing. When someone is ahead of you, he is ahead. And for all the haters please go ahead and touch him let's see.

Yoruba doesn't fight lost causes. We are calm and calculated, we strike at the right time not with insult, intimidation and childish tantrums but with tact, strategy and wisdom that works.

Only a fool stand in front of a moving train just to show his bravery. All your chest beating since 1967 where has it taken your lot? You were crushed before and will be crushed again until you become wise.
