TonyeBarcanista: Lack of fiscal policies is making the job of the CBN very difficult. Nonsense. Nigeria is not China, USA, Japan, Britain just to name a few industrial countries. Fiscal policy impact on exchange rate in our case is severely limited.A country that imports virtually everything it consumes has limited policy options other than direct currency control. Especially now that our single hard currency earner commodity is in price free fall in the market. |
Business › Re: If We Devalue Naira Again, We Will Kill Nigerians, Says CBN Governor by ibedun: 7:50pm On Oct 06, 2015 |
blank: Fiscal policies will mean other measures will be taken to prop up the currency and not just by currency restrictions. Give me 1 or 2 examples please. There is cycle of weightless arguments going on here. We have very limited control options over the value of our currency. We do not produce 90% of what we consume. |

Igbos will never amount to anything in the Nigerian political space. The economy (more like trading) they fantasise about controlling will change over time as the other tribes get off their backside and compete with the Igbos or simply just stop buying anything from them. Igbo migration is adding to the problems of the country. Shameless lot, they should be busy developing their fatherland. The only thing I like about Igbo migration is he sheer number of available Igbo girls. Igbo girls all over the place to water our dry wood. |

HopeAtHand: The deliberate stifling of other Ports in Delta, Rivers and AkwaIbom state is baffling..One begins to wonder the kind of country Nigeria truly is..I can't get my goods cleared in PH and i will have to spend time, money and stress going down to Lagos for a facility the British wisely built as early as 1920s in PH.
If Lagosians want some Nigerians to avoid their state, they should ensure ports in other states thrive. Abeg! Commot for here. We go fit help you clear your goods, take care of transport and despatch it to your state for you. You sure don't have to come to Lagos. The Igbos are a different case, those ones just want to escape from their worthless land and the evil spirit of their ancestors no agree make them develop the useless land they inherit. |

Ignorant people all over this thread. The so called international investors are nothing but predators and speculators. No policy can change the current reality of oil price collapse and the significant reduction in goverent revenue and foreign exchange earnings.
The last administration is responsible for the misfortune that will afflict all Nigerians in the coming 20 years. |

bookface: The current CBN policy is short sighted and will only lead to further deterioration of fundamentals. The CBN should let the naira trade closer to its true value, the current levels are indefensible.Fiscal adjustment is also needed to reduce the strain on government expenditures. A good start will be cutting down the budget of the national assembly, cutting down on subsidies and moving a huge part of recurrent expenditures to private hands.... Why the hell should the federal government be paying salaries of teachers, doctors etc? Deterioration of which fundamentals? I like to be sure you know what you are talking about. |
