Rather than request Saraki to subject himself to the rule of law, they are spoiling for a fight with the executive because they possess the ultimate tool of blackmail - impeachment. A responsible senate will think more of a proper House cleaning.

Some might even begin to suggest the woes befalling Saraki is a sign of a lack of 'political manoeuvring' unlike in David Mark's Senate when Mark and his senators went berserk breaking every law.
