Zappacosta is playing well today. Emerson has always been wonderful.
Opponents are down to 10 men and out the competition. Wouldn't read much into this game.

Are you sure he is top 2? Where do you place Pep Guardiola, Koeman, Rijkaard, Matthaus, Redondo?

If some of those older guys had played in this modern era of tackle-less football they might have been even better.
None of those guys played in 100 pass per game system, and only ran 8km per game in their time, plus the half-turn was not a routine method of receiving the ball for possession football, so you cannot make the same comparison across generations. Their skillset and physical characteristics may not even translate into the modern way of DM possession footie. Some of these like Mathaus and Koeman are long-range passers, not necessarily high volume passers.

Xabi Alonso was good but he is Xavi's junior. Xavi averaged over 120 passes in a competition TWICE and his accuracy was much better than Alonso's.
That's why I said he's in the top 2. You already know who my number 1 is.

Fernandinho is not better on the ball than Kante. Fernandinho and Alonso are both useless in tight space. The only thing Alonso had over Kante was his long range and diagonal passes. By technical players are players who are good with the ball and who are able to buy time on the ball even in tight space.

Kante is more of a technical player than Fernandinho and Alonso.
Fa fa fa foul!

Alonso is in the top 2 most technical DM of all time. In World Cup 2010, Alonso was averaging 120 passes per game, and 100 for Bayern. I have never seen midfielder reach 120 passes over a sequence of games in all my years following passing stats, not even Xavi.

I watched Alonso live in stadium playing for Bayern, not under canopy and saw how he dominated possession against Yaya Toure and co even though Bayern had only 10 men. Although he did make defensive error in that game sha.

Fernandinho used to be an AM in Brazil before converting to DM. He is technically very good, don't be confused by his work ethic

Kante is good on the ball for a normal manager, but not to play DM in an ultra-possession team like Sarri or Pep team.

Without going into details, forget the tactical jargon. Sarri is drunk by playing our best player out of position or maybe the formation is just wrong. Its criminal to limit a player's specialty.

Play Kante in his favored position (or at least one that will make him MOST effective) because he will be the first to win the ball back and pass it forward for Joggy to do whatever it is that he does.

Simples.

And ffs! How can Kante stay close to Joggy and not go forward? undecided So we need babysitters now? undecided
You cannot ask Sarri to play without a high possession distributor in DM, simples. This is what the club committed to the moment we procured his services. You can't buy Alexa and ask it to behave like Siri.

Is Mr. Sarri serious right now? Did he actually utter those words about Kante?
Kante might be doing more than required and that is because no one else is even trying to. How good are you as a coach setting up your team through 1 single player who is not the best player on the pitch? And once he gets marked out, then end of game? Not able to function anymore?

Is Mr. Sarri serious right now?
Sarri did not say anything wrong.

He said Jorginho is his no4 and he likes technical no4s, and cannot use Kante as no4.

Every high possession team uses a technical no 4, whether you are talking of Pirlo, Xabi Alonso, Marcos Senna, Fernandinho, Busquets etc. This is because possession starts with the triangle between the two centreback and no4.

They may then deploy a runner alongside the no 4 eg Gattusso, Vidal, Seydou Keita etc

Furthermore, Sarri said Kante should stay closer to Jorginho rather than always going forward, in recognition that Jorginho has physical deficiency and would need Kante as a bodyguard to play that role well. . . which can only benefit the team.

Everything he said made sense tactically, and was just a reiteration of his team set up. Kante would understand the message perfectly. It was in no way a diss at him.

Surely Tammy and Batsman would thrive better in Sarriball than Morata and Giroud

Is he playing box to box now?

Don't confuse role of CM in methodical build-up play of Sarriball to box-to-box.

Kante played B2B at Leicester and won the league.

Kante remains a better B2B than DM.

This should lead me to conjuring up an infamous phrase to be remembered on par with "They are still gelling" or "Aguero is finished".

Hear it . . . .

"Not every CM is a box2box"!!!

afrodoc2:
He is struggling to adapt to the new role but i believe that might be partly due to the Sarriball slow pace possession footie and over reliance on Jorginho.

He would adapt better to the role if it was a faster paced, less possession oriented system.

Hmm. We got taught a lesson.

Jorginho better hold on to 90% possession so as not to become another Fab-escort service.

I better not hear of any new contract negotiation for David Luiz.

Sarri looking like Pep without money. This is what Pep teams would look like if he could not buy his way out of every problem. No defensive structure, conceding big chances from every attack. Remind me of Bayern in UCL under Pep.

It is not State Govts job to distribute transformers sef.

The DISCOS have been privatised. They should be distributing electricity, not State Govt. Kano DISCO sef imported 70,000 transformers last year. How are we sure these are not some of them that the Governor borrowed for publicity?

Nigerian Govt loves to operate in a haphazard fashion with no clarity of purpose. Leave private sector to do their job and regulate them if they don't. State Governor has no business showing off transformers cos electricity distribution is not part of his remit. We have TCN and the State DISCOS for that.

We are talking about the best defensive midfielder in the world.
As I remember in football, you pay attackers more. Attackers and goalscoring midfielders should generally be earning 50% more than defensive players, then you also pay midfield controllers before you pay others. Pay is based on scarcity of options in the market. No way Kante should be earning double of Sadio Mane.

Pay should be relative to others. If Jorginho comes to contract discussions now, do you think he should not demand more than Kante given he is the fulcrum of the midfield and Kante is his junior partner? Remember Jorginho and Kante is like Pirlo and Gattusso

Lmao, Tory Lanez totally ripped Joyner apart in the second diss. The part where he rapped about what Joyner be thinking was hilarious, and Joyner didn't help matters as well by using tekashi69 in his diss given that he is facing life, gave Tory an edge there.

Reason I gave it to Joyner is because Tory's first diss was more or less like a competition to show who the fastest rapper is, given that he is a singer, so I wasn't picking his words and Joyner came in hard and clear in his first diss. I'm really enjoying it, Tory was right about giving Joyner some sort of relevance though, through this beef. Las Las na collabo go end am.
Hahahaha. For me, Tory Lanez spit the most factual personals while Joyner started making up fake personals by Zeze. The best rebuttal of the whole battle was when Joyner said he and Tekashi had 3some with Tory's girl, Tory responded saying a Nigga said he out here running threesomes with a Nigga that’s in court dealing with the kid cases. Dat one bust my head.

He showed the difference between a man and a boy in terms of accomplishments. It's like Dangote battling Ifeanyi Ubah. Ifeanyi Ubah just suppose loyal and ask Dangote if he has anything for the boys.

Starting from the 5-0 loss to real madrid in 2014 I think philip lahm as already cleared the airhen he stated that players ditched the managers game plan.

The 3-0 loss at the nou camp match had pep Guardiola's not true with his on usual style. He approached the game the way other managers faced him back in barca.you could see that from the incessant long ball from xabi alonzo to lewandoski and other attackers all the time instead of the normal intelligent one or two shot passes in the midfield. So that style was uncharacteristic of pep Guardiola's style. He corrected it in the second leg and had barcelona begging for mercy.

The 1-0 at atletico madrid will only have me blaming pep guardiola for always relying too much on second leg.The return leg was just one of those unlucky nights in ucl.

Also the 3-1 loss to monaco 2 seasons ago should have them flogging all the attacker with fan belts for missing begging chances .
All these are stories for the gods.
