As for leftback, if we can get Benjamin Mendy, that would be great. He is probably the only one of the available leftbacks I would swap Alonso for.

It did not escape my attention that Alonso was the only nigga who did not run out of gas when we went down to ten men in the FA Cup final. The nigga was still covering vast blades of grass when we were overstretched. This tallies with his status as the player who covered the most miles per 90 mins in the EPL last time I checked.

Griffon:
I weak for that nigga.

Meanwhile, looks like our wish is getting granted.

"L’Equipe are claiming Lyon's President Jean-Michel Aulas was in London to discuss a deal for Tolisso with the Blues.

The report claims any deal could also involve the Ligue 1 side getting Kurt Zouma on loan or even buying Betrand Traore."

https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/3697676/chelsea-make-enquiry-for-lyon-star-corentin-tolisso-during-london-talks-with-their-president/

And to give credence to that speculation, I read somewhere else that Lyon are interested in signing Bertrand Traore.

http://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/811425/Lyon-Transfer-Chelsea-Betrand-Traore-News-Gossip-Rumours

Looks pretty much like this deal is happening and I am happy the name is Tolisso.
You're kidding me right?

I was just putting 2 and 2 together given Lyons reported interest in Traore.

I would be over the moon if this is actually happening.

Meanwhile, Pasalic only has one year on his contract so I think we will be saying goodbye if he refuses to extend. I know Nateevs is a fan of his.

Griffon, that your boy Toliso looks like a great option for our central midfield. I don't even mind using Bertrand Traore as a bargaining chip for him.

Whoever that person is needs eye check, or at least to study Bakayokos game indepth. That dude cannot do the basics of midfield, trapping the ball is wahala for him.

If Conte is the one pushing for Bakayoko, he needs to go for eye test.

Whoever that person is needs eye test. It must be the same person that was pushing for Franck Kessie of Atalanta, another useless fellow that they later cooled off on after taking time to watch his game.

Both of those guys are just packaged version of Victorien Angban.

Where does Aubameyangs valuation of £61m place the valuation of Lukaku, Bellotti and Morata now?

IMO, none of em can be worth significantly more than Auba.

That's an even bigger rod to beat the fool with.

Who turns their back on their opponent and faces their own goal as a defender?.

But actually, what you're saying is wrong.

Matic actually saw Sanchez coming...infact they came so close, they practically kissed, but the foolish Matic decided that Sanchez was not a threat because Ramsey was in an offside position...and then decided turn his back
At least you have to allow for the linesman's flag confusing everyone. That's why I blamed the ref on the offside part of that goal. Handball + Offside IMO. And I insist that Matic cannot catch Sanchez from a kissing position because Sanchez is heading toward goal while Matic is heading away from goal. Most he can do is foul him.

Anyway, it's all good. I don't think these boys were in competitive spirit to win this game anyway.

Playing to the Whistle is one of the most basic things in football. You literally carry on playing till you hear po po pooo
If you are really interested in the offside trap being to blame, you would be blaming Luiz because he is the one giving instruction, and he is the only one in position to catch Sanchez. Remember Sanchez is already running forward having come from Kantes position, while Matic is on the turn having just pushed up. Even if Matic played to the whistle, he can't turn around 180 degrees and catch Sanchez from that position, that's why I asked you to post the gif.

As far as I'm concerned from our end, the major culprit is Kante, after that I'm blaming the referee.

I'm watching on TV and literally taking photos of my telly.

If you have another gif that does not show Sanchez literraly running past while Matic pirouettes on the spot, feel free to post it.
Leave the matter. IMO, the ref is at fault for failure of the offside trap because if Ramsey was not interfering, Chelsea would be in position rather than stepping up.

If you are talking of who was giving the ball away, leading to that period of pressure, then you can talk about Kante.

Ball is up in the air, Sanchez is chasing the ball, but the Serbian buffoon actually turns his back on the man and ball
My friend, you would even blame Matic for JFK murder.

Kante gave the ball away twice you didn't say anything, including to Sanchez who is coming from where Kante was.

Luiz shouted for the line to step up and Matic did that. In your pic, Matic momentum is even running the other way as per Luiz instruction because he was the one marking Ramsey but stepped up to play the offside.

In your pics, why didn't you blame Luiz? I'm sure you see Luiz raising his hand for offside instead of coming across.

You will blame Matic even if he is on the bench. Stop this nonsense.

It's better we just point fingers at the ref.

I think KDB is talented enough to play CM and AM like he prove this season with his assists from CM

I have read that Pep probably wants wingers who cut in and a Full back who will maraud the touchline

It might end up being someone like Kyle Walker or Mendy who runs that touch line as that FB while B.Silva and D.Silva/Sane be the cut in winger

Madrid have only one DM Casemiro and play 2 players in Kroos-Modric who can easily play 10 in CM, with 2 wingers who cut in
Good point. This setup could whitewash a lot of teams. However you only need to mess up 8-10 games to lose the Prem, and there must be 8-10 occasions when opposition will resist this setup. He will need an uber possession DM to limit this possibility as well as fast centre backs to stop the inevitable counterattacks from decent teams.

apart from making sure the general quality doesn't drop too much when debruyne gets injured, is fatigued or loses form (some or even all of these will happen), he's also a major upgrade on sterling, nolito, and Jesus for the other wide positions.
raumdeuter:
Could it be that Bernado Silva would be pushed to the wings in place of Sterling and a likely long term replacement for David Silva
Pep said "if you want to be dominant in the air, you buy good headers of the ball. If you want to score more goals, you buy goalscorers. My priority this summer is to buy goals".

I would hardly call signing Bernardo Silva "buying of goals", just more of the same flashy build-up play".

If you ask me, he is potentially reducing goals, by keeping De Bruyne further from the opponents goal (which Bernardo Silva may help to do further) and by squeezing Nolito out further.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by Ibime(m): 1:18pm On May 26, 2017
PietroRico:
Abeg, no matter how you spin it, it's a cracking signing.
David is getting old, no amount of pep magic can turn Raheem to Lionel sterling. Nolito is average.

And I really do not think it will hinder their defensive additions.

Sane Jesus silva and debruyne looks really good on paper, you have to admit
It's not matter of signings, it's matter of getting the optimum out of the players you already have.

City is a much more dangerous team with DeBruyne in the AM position, much more than both David Silva and Bernardo Silva.

Adding another AM just means you're only getting 70% if the optimum out of all 3 of them, when getting 100% out of DeBruyne alone would suffice.

As far as I am concerned, adding Bernardo Silva does not improve them massively cos he is a type of player they already 2 of, who are even better.

Nolito himself is good depth, arguably on par with Pedro and can do a good job if not squeezed out by overcompetition. Then with Aguero taking no 9, Jesus is also a brilliant winger. So IMO they are just adding what they don't need and drawing down their budget which is fine by me.

It's like Chelsea signing all those wingers/AMs in 2012 and 2013 when they only needed two.

Man City just signed Bernardo Silva for £60m.

Good!

They should keep spending money on AMs, that just means less money left to fix their defence where they need it most.
