Two ways the Ballon D'or is gonna go.
If Ronaldo wins the UCL it's his to take.
If Ronaldo loses the UCL,The Liga title won't be enough to overshadow his average season as it does not have the allure of the UCL trophy.
Messi on the other hand could win the Copa Del Rey which quite frankly is useless, but this time he gets to complement it with the Golden Boot.
Messi still has the upper hand on this year's Ballon D'or,but it all depends on Juve.
I am calm. For scoring 5 against Atleti and Bayern, Ronaldo will win WPOTY, UCL or no UCL. |

Drogba wasn't at all prolific from 2004-2006 but he worked harder than a horse though. I swear he was the striker version of NGolo Kante. His pressing was on steroids. Klopp would have loved him for his gangam pressing.
I'm many ways I still prefer the old Drogba because his style brought such tactical stability to the team though he didn't score. Drogba got lazy in 2006-2007 and that was when he started scoring cos his energy was focused on the goal. |

Funlord2: Except this one! I think injuries and a loss of form edged things in hazards favour! Kdb started the season on fire! If you even move KDB from central midfield to AM, you will add 8 goals to his tally which will blow Hazard out the water statistically. He is already edging him. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by Ibime(m): 12:20pm On May 17, 2017 |
airmark: KDB's feat in burnthisleaguedown was a ruse considering the fact that the league is full of bums. We dont even need to quote ancelotti again to know how weak the competition is, over there. Djilobodji, chicharito, kalou, modeste have led us. Since kdb returned to epl, has he scored the 10 goals he scored over there? Has he replicated the 30+ goals+assists he did in germany, in epl? Has okazaki scored the number of goals he scored in his last season in germany? The same league chicharito was celebrated as bundesliga idol? Where kalou was scoring hat tricks? Mkhirtayan is yet to find his bearing in epl, despite being the best midfielder in germany last season. In fact he was the assist leader with 20 assists, but in epl he has only 1 assist in 23 games. What i am saying in essence is that, using kdb numbers in that league to knock out hazard's is like saying because samuel murray scored 33 goals in burundi league in 2013 and suarez had 23, so murray outperformed suarez. That one is story for Gods. Burnthisleague down only has 34 fixtures which evens out the difference. Hazard cannot make 44 goals + assists in any league, not even Ligue 1. Last season, KDB made 17 goals and 16 assists in EPL (33 goal contribution) even despite missing 2 months with injury. Has Hazard done that in 5 years in EPL? Never. I insist, only a mad man will compare Hazard to KDB. KDB did in one year what Hazard has failed to do in 5 years. 2 years in a row now, KDB has been challenging Premier League all-time assist record of Thierry Henry. He would have broke it last season if not for 2 months injury. They are not mates please. |

airmark: This is technically false. How so? Care to give me stats? 2014/15 is a whitewash in KDBs favour 2015/16 is a whitewash in KDBs favour This season is the only debatable one and KDB slightly outproduces him from a central midfield position vs a forward. IMO, there is no season in the last 3 seasons that Hazard has outperformed KDB. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by Ibime(m): 10:37am On May 17, 2017 |
Greatihex: i told not to use this excuse. Arsenal was not in the title hunt, but we saw Sanchez making the team of the Year.
There were even complaints of ibra not making the cut, but we never got that for kdb.
Everton were never in the title hunt, but Lukaku made the team.
And, apart from the abnormal last season that hazard had, kdb has never bettered him in any season since they started playing football. All those players you mentioned are goalscorers. KDB is an assist maker. A player can punch through to PFA based on goals in a shyte team. An assist maker won't be as prominent. KDB has been better than Hazard every season since 2014/15. Phuck is you talking bout. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by Ibime(m): 10:06am On May 17, 2017 |
Greatihex: i know of his number of assists, which is not up to 18. But, that was not what I asked you. I only asked you if you would still rank him ahead of hazard after this season.
This is KDB second full season in the league and he is yet to make the PFA team of the Season, not even a nomination for PFA award. This is a player that won the Bundesliga player of the Year prior to coming to the epl. He has already become popular with his award and 50m purchase, so there is no excuse of a popularity contest. Remember that hazard in his first season made the PFA team of the Season and was also nominated for the award. Kdb has no excuse for not getting the recognition. The issue is that he simply does not deserve it. There are other players that have been better and consistent.
I hope there not going to be an excuse of his team not being champion; i don't remember the last time Sanchez's Arsenal won the league or Bertrand's Southampton being in top four or Kane's Tottenham winning the league. PFA awards are based on team performance. If Man City were in title hunt, he would be first on the list, but leave yourself in no doubt that he has been the most impressive on an individual basis in last 2 years. |

Funlord2: An elite defender is meant to keep out goals rather than score them! If a solid defender has a knack for scoring goals it is simply a bonus for his team and a credit to his instincts or technique! Some of the greatest defenders in the history of the game had horrid goal scoring stats...that does not diminish their greatness! Thanks for stating the obvious. Someone only came here to praise Terry's added goal bonus and Raumdeuter started campaign to tell us the obvious. Well, let me tell you the obvious - Any attacking midfielder with poor goals and assists can never be rated by me. Ask me who. BTW, give me a defender who makes 3 mistakes a season and scores 8 goals over a defender who makes zero mistakes and scores zero. I'm still 5 goals up. |

lordfalcao: before begovic came to Chelsea he is top 5 goalie, not disputed..
Since he came to Chelsea he has been another Valdez..
Show me a match begovic started this season that he didn't concede 2 goals each?? Is that a coincidence or what??. Begovic is a keep who lacks positional discipline, he is a terrible back up Let me tell you, Begovic is as good a backup as you can hope to get. Backup goalkeepers usually become shyte from sitting on the bench, every one of them. You only hope to get one who doesn't make mistakes when called upon, and Bego doesn't. I'm sure you remember Carlo Cudicini who was a top class keeper for Chelsea, top 3 in EPL, how he started making mistakes and looking shaky once Cech glued his aßß to the bench. Same goes for Michel Vorm who was a top keeper at Swansea but now makes a mistake a game on the odd occasion he plays for Spurs. Goalkeepers lose 50% of their skill once they become a number 2. That is because the art of goalkeeping requires you to constantly practice in situational scenarios every single week, whether that is coming to catch a ball in a crowded area, or tussling with opposition strikers. These situations cannot be replicated in training. Hence once you have a backup goalkeeper that makes no mistakes like Bego, you should be grateful. Between lack of weekly practice and confidence of not building your rhythm, there is no goalie in the world you will glue to bench that will not be shaky until he gets a run of games. So forget all those Tom Heaton you keep talking about. they cannot handle being backup better than Bego. |

lordfalcao: begovic is an otu.. Who lacks positional discipline and always chop 2 plus whenever he mans the post. He hardly keep clean sheets.
He is a terrible back up Bego before he came to Chelsea was top5 goalie in the Prem. Clean sheet is function of the whole team not just the goalie. Bego always plays with reserve players when he plays. Claiming he chop 2 is not evidence. Which mistake of his can you point to? |
