Too early to comment. Those rare earth minerals are close to the border/disputed territory so he has an end goal in mind that involves Ukraine keeping those economic assets and US companies mining them. They will also of course be secured by US military might if he is successful. Also European army in Ukraine is equivalent to NATO. It gives Putin an out/story to tell "see we prevented NATO in Ukraine" which was never his guiding principle in the first place, while achieving the same thing as NATO.

I'll be contrarian and say the bolded is the better option if the person is the ambitious type and has a long term play

Most finance professionals within the FSI space usually have it easier and could easily cross carpet to other industries. Not so for O&G as it's quite specialized

Also what ceiling is higher?. Those guys hardly promote as there's not much space at the top since people hardly leave, and especially for someone whose role is non - operational

Anyway this is me speaking from a general finance perspective and not audit, maybe things are different down there for an auditor

IOCs na typically from entry level. That's my perspective. Experienced hire is very competitive.

What you actually see often people in contract roles in IOCs going for full time roles in indigenous.

Taking where I worked as an example - it was mainly entry level graduate trainees I saw do the transition to IOCs because they were still doing tests. It is actually the other way round. Indigenous looking for competent and experienced hired poaching from IOCs.

I just checked a new guy who has resumed in a banks technicial arm and the dude worked in total e & previously.

The auditor in question already has experience in manufacturing and financial services sector and I'm inclined to think he should open up his options in the oil industry as the ceiling is much higher.
